Seniors,
northbird:
good morning to you all. I hope the weekend was great.

Seniors, xana, pope, izzou, slamstanlee, DeeDee, mjosh, and other seniors,

please suggest a one sim phone that wud will be accepted ( the phones that won't spoof or distort GPS to avoid uber's hammer.

Budget. Around 35- 40k.

The list of banned devices on the uber website is quite overwhelming. All the popular phones seems to be on that list.

Your actual net hovers around '48- 50k'. Cos there is a sinking fund ( fuel ) you did not factor.

You bought fuel for 7 days ( of course from your pocket, which has to be reimbursed) before you can complete taxify's job.

chichiana:
This being the net. Its still not far from the main balance.
Business › Re: If You Are Uber Partner In Lagos, Please Share Your Experience Here by northbird: 8:34pm On Sep 16, 2019
Please, always post "net' and not ' revenue' you are still showcasing bolt commission as part of your earnings.
chichiana:
In as much as you make money. The bottom line is how much of that cheese followed you home. Less taxify's commission.

Nothing of saka here. If i can make this amount only on bolt while also active on uber on a very unserious week.every other person can. The secrete is just to sleep on the street of island. Nothing else.

Spend some time alone. Maybe in a quiet place, avoid distractions. Ideas will come to you.

The first barrage of ideas mite not be the best.

My broda, the answer lies within you.

What icon do you look for when checking for one way. quote author=stanuplane post=82192944] yes. believe me, google knows all the one ways. You just have to be careful and follow the map righteously. Like I said earlier, my map had a GPS issue, that's why it malfunctioned.[/quote]

Buddy, as regards issues of assault happening only in developing nations, stop displaying ignorance, a little google search will help.

And I must remind you. I have never supported thuggery as you claim. My issue with you is don't refer to Nigeria as third world, its a developing nation.

Buddy, India is reputed to be one of the countries with the highest rape cases in the world, I wouldn't doubt your assertion on that .
ornicus:
It is in third world countries you have issues of uber drivers engaging in assault. In India it is outright rape. Keep on with your false misguided pride and defense of thuggery.

Stop quoting out of context. Reason Snoop Dogg was banned is about the negative images he represented, dope n all that.
ornicus:
I guess platforms like uber last last are best with butas as drivers. Those ones have basic sense. Uber rates both drivers and riders. You have a crazy rider, stay calm, capture and report. Do you realise snoop digg is banned from British Airways?

That is the sensible thing to do, rather than taking matters violently into your hands like a bus conductor
Travel › Re: Uber Driver Flogs Lady Out Of His Car (Video) by northbird: 10:50am On Sep 13, 2019
And riders must behave in a manner that conforms with UBER's standard. Thats the essence of the ratings ( the rider and the driver).

When a trip has ended, you are no longer under the coverage of the service provider, @ DT point , you are in a strangers car. Pls read the terms.

I will never be a party to assault.
When one's tenure expires (by 12noon) in transcorp hilton. and the guest refuses to move, what will the management do? they would have no choice but to engage with their security.

pocohantas:
It is always "UBER's car". The trip was initiated via UBER.

The contest isn't if the trip has ended or not, but how he chose to disengage a passenger he picked on UBER's platform. He MUST disengage them in a manner that meets UBER's standard. After that, he can go offline, join those yellow cab babas and be his own boss.

Sometimes we get in our feelings and react as humans, but it takes nothing away from acceptable standards.

And you that has a job, tell me about your bullying principles @ ur work place.

You are the damaged one. Nigeria is a developing nation and not third world country. Have some pride in your country.

Tell me more about your job. Go n read Uber's terms n conditions before displaying ignorance here. The trip has ended. The ladies are no longer under uber' s coverage.

ornicus:
Most of you who complain about no jobs are probably better off without them. You are so damaged that you constantly justify and defend violence and aggression.

Do you understand that all businesses have policies against violence? And that fighting is immediate grounds for dismissal?

You make me laugh.
Travel › Re: Uber Driver Flogs Lady Out Of His Car (Video) by northbird: 10:20am On Sep 13, 2019
He is a partner n he has the right to end the trip if he is not comfortable with the ride. If the trip has ended. You have no business in that car.

@ DT point, it is no more "UBER's car. I don't support assault. But from the video, you would agree the ride has ended.

An average rider in these parts have a feeling they own you. This is displayed in their mannerisms n body dispositions. That's so sad.

pocohantas:
You can be insulted anywhere. What we can't control is your reaction.

If you put that your car on the road, lots of people won't enter or want to deal with you directly. They will be scared of being kidnapped, robbed, raped or even killed.

They are entering because of UBER. So, it is just not your car. It is UBER's car and as long as you are driving under their umbrella, you will be very careful of your actions and inactions. UBER woud always be held accountable for your conduct. They will suffer reputational risk, something that is lost on you and your car.

This isn't rocket science, neither is it an excuse for bad behaviour from riders.
Travel › Re: Uber Driver Flogs Lady Out Of His Car (Video) by northbird: 10:02am On Sep 13, 2019
You don't know what transpired, so stop talking like that. And " third world countries " angry . what happened to developing nations. Shows your state of mind. Rich people are really humble.
ornicus:
Nigerians always trying to chook head into job roles they are unsuited for. It means the guy actually carries a whip in his vehicle. He is prepared to assault customers.

Uber needs to step up their vetting of drivers in third world countries. Must be an nl alfa male who cannot imagine providing customer service to a woman.

Hello house, thought this might help. Though I don't know the areas myself.

Mehn, that was quite fearless of you. You are very bold. Nawa o, these local govt guys,

please, seniors in the house , how does one overcome these ONE WAY issues, does Google map indicate 'one way'. Please, seniors . suggest how one can escape exploitation from these touts. Izzou suggested having your cars on central lock every time. Thanks.
stanuplane:
When we got to clinic road the guy asked me to divert to another road that probably leads to their office, I pretended to be deaf and continued on clinic road, he then reached for my car keys, turned off the engine and took my keys. He took out his phone immediately and started calling his ppl. Luckily for me, this happened in the middle of the road and my car was already causing a little traffic. Two police men around the corner rushed down to my car to know what was going on, I explained everything to them but it seemed that I might as well be talking to a barn door. They simply told me to take that car out of the center of the road, park it one side and settle with them(him), that was when I understood that I was strictly on my own. The guy gave me back my key to park my car properly. I then started my car and speed off immediately towards 3MB, the guy saw what was happening and went for my car keys again, this time I was ready for him, I gave him a heavy blow on wrist and it went limp fast, we started struggling for my car key till it broke with the ignition still on and one part of the key still inside the ignition. The guy saw what was happening and started looking for a way to jump out of the fast moving car, I had little mercy for him cause if he jumps at the speed am in, he may die so I slowed down a little and he jumped out immediately. Am sure he must have sustained some minor injuries. My riders who watched the whole thing go down started clapping for me as well other as road users who watched the whole show. I continued to VI, dropped off my riders and drove straight to my mechanic to remove the stuck key. Thankfully I have a spare which I always carry around with me in case of emergencies such as this. The End****

Please, can you share your experience with the yaba touts, of all the local govt touts, the yaba guys seems the most notorious. Also, the bluffing, how did you wiggle out of the situation
and these guys, do they just spring out of nowhere or there are specific areas to watch out for them.

Oga izzou, in that case, who ends the trip, the driver or the rider. N Will the rider accept knowing fully well that other drivers in the know will keep rejecting the request for such an area.
izzou:
Also, can one end a trip if one feels the roads are detrimental to the car . will such things affect one's rating.
And there's something I learnt also

If you are plying a bad road and you can't continue, please tell your rider politely that you can't continue.

Most times, they usually understand

Please, help list all the bad areas which might run the legs of the vehicle down. Thanks

So sorry for your day... It's part of those challenges

Next time don't accept any request that will take after Festac. Festac is a good place for request.. But after Alakija is a no no

Mazamaza - No
Old Ojo road - No
Satellite Town - NO times 2

With time, maybe you will know shortcuts to those areas. But avoid them because of bad roads and tankers/trailers

muyiwaadekunle1:
There's no way you'll not make mistakes. It is inevitable but you should learn from it.
I started work on bolt yesterday, did 4 trips and my fuel went AWOL, the situation sent a shiver down to my spine, fast forward to this morning, someone on my street requested for an offline trip from Maryland to Mile2, he guided me through the journey but immediately i dropped him off, trying to navigate my way through Anthony, 2 armed policemen and Agbero stopped me.
Long story short, they collected 3500 from me, I wept on my way home but i spoke to some elders here who told me to chin up.
I did as they instructed, so i started learning how to use the map which i have not mastered yet because I almost lost my way trying to navigate through Ikeja bridge to Maryland, i had to drive through the express to 7up and right there i got a trip to New Horizon 2 ikate.
3 riders don cancel on me already self because their address no dey for map and the people I've been asking said they don't know the street.

But when children are in a "strangers" car that they are not familiar with. The onus lies on the parent to ensure his/her child displays the best behaviour. Cos when the chips are down, the parent / guardian will still be held responsible.
Tyche:
I disagree, you don't have a clue what that woman is going through. Admittedly, there are exceptions, but raising these kids are a Herculean task.

He stopped cause you are a stranger, stay there for the next two hours and he will carry on in your presence. Worst case scenario, you spank him, my brother, he will return to that spot within 2 hours.

There are no hard and fast rules to raising a kid, you just have to adapt

Oga pope thanks. I'm sure a lot of the new guys are learning from this. I really appreciate your response.
pope191:
I call dem necessary evil, because they overlook a lot of stuff, but on their set day, it will take grace not to fall into their trap. Yes! It is an offence to use your right side on a two way lane when you are about to turn at a junction like that and no I wasn't the first person, like I said the other person zoomed straight towards ogba as he/she noticed their movement, normally in such scenario, they were suppose to tell me not to stop dia but point for me to drive towards ogba. The officer in question from my observation needs money and it has become habitual for them, b4 coming out in the morning, they have a targeted amount on their mind and how many keke they have to catch to get the money, once you r an uber driver and fall into their hand, that's a big prey for them, as they assume uber drivers r dull and make good money unlike the danfo guys. Let me set an example for you, those that always park along the pzifer road r parking on d wrong spot, but they always overlook it till the day they want to do operations, they may need 50 cars and nothing on earth will make them not to get that 50 cars, such day they just off dia phones nd turn deaf ear to any form of pleading. Another thing that use to piss them off, is when you commit an offence and tell them other people r doing it while showing them example, they do take that personal.

If you sit around them for long, gist and break bread with them, you will come to understand they are normal human with life issues, in as much as they can b mean atimes, it is the way you relate with them that counts as long as they are not out on operations, mostly they don't have the intention of taking anyone to the office or impounding any car when they don't even know what they are going to eat for lunch, as long as you don't rubish dia ego, no matter d problem, a good understanding can sought it out. I'm not speaking for airport or local government touts, those once are on illegal duty and out dia to wreck havoc on dia victims.

@Franksam2009, I ask you a question and I'll really appreciate if you can reply, not just for your to spot what's wrong, you can as well profess a solution in such instance, at least you weren't under any pressure as mine and you have time to put your tots together.
Business › Re: If You Are Uber Partner In Lagos, Please Share Your Experience Here by northbird: 2:13am On Sep 03, 2019
Oga pope. Thanks for sharing, we HV learnt. Really appreciate. But if I may ask, the second lane, is it an offence on that road, ( ogunwusi or ogunsuyi road) and were you the first to create the second lane or they just handpicked you out of all the vehicles in the lane , maybe becos you r uber.
pope191:
I'm yet to see any traffic police in Lagos like the ones in omole to Berger, those Berger traffic police r just cooperate beggers. I was aheading towards Ikeja from omole, the queue on d main lane is long enough so I join d second lane driving slowly, before I know they jumped out from dia cubicle, d guy in front blow straight to ogba and I was with a rider, so they land in my front, rider didn't waste time he opened the door with an excuse of being in rush, the police woman took advantage of that and entered the car "Oga to the office'... Before I knew it, a man came down from his car and start snuggling out with them, I've done nothing, he took it soh personal to the point of snapping them, this lead to physical assault. I wasn't even aware of all this as I was still battling with the lady calling towing van cos I refused to follow her order, on my part I'm placing calls to my connection as well, while the man and the other officer have dragged each other to area G. When its all said and done, they can't let me go due to the case becoming an assault and they need me as a witness, so I was referred to the station instead of lasma office, from 10am, it took me 1.30pm to leave as they detained the man and made me to deny him if we are not accomplice, I felt bad, but at the same time felt the man blew things out of proportion. Las las the lady was begging me and ask me to exercise patient cos DPO is involved in the case, I was just looking at her like " I don't care". At the end I drop 3k willingly when leaving since they ask for atall stall.

Oga cooladex, good morning please does cancellations have an effect on. Being blocked by uber or taxify. Cos the scenario you experience requires it, wat if one is faced with 4 or 5 different scenarios like that in a day . people who want to use your car to buy diesel , carry coolers.
