Good morning house, on Wednesday I lend my Camry SE 2009 to a friend only for him to call me that the engine all of a sudden started making a rattling sound which I know is a lie, the rattling sound was louder that a generator sound I invited my mechanic over to check the engine and he said my friend drove the car roughly and has hit the engine on the floor which cause the whole engine oil to leak out. When my mechanic opened the engine he saw some grounded metals and he said there are two option which are if he work on the engine the rattling sound might stop if not I would have to buy a new engine after working on the engine and putting engine oil the rattling sound reduced so my mechanic said I would have to buy a new engine but I can be managing the car with the sound till I am ready for a new engine I asked him if he is sure about that and he said yes so I decided to test the car on the road but unfortunately the whole engine oil leaked out and the engine shut down and refused to start again I had to tow the car back home.

Please house I need on information if it's still possible to fix my current engine or may buy half engine and I also need help on idea of price for a new engine.

Don't bother working on the engine again, it's a complicated work and as it's aluminium the block would have been affected.

2az 4 cylinder for your car is 250 to 270k depending on accessories and how clean the engine is.

2GR 6 cylinder for your car shouldn't exceed 350k. Now is the time to buy cause exchange rate would sky rocket anytime soon.

Hello house, does anyone know what timing belt is best to use on a 2000 Camry I have bought three in one month ever since the one that came with the engine cut on my way from Lagos to Benin.

original bando timing belt would set you back around 10k

but check your pulleys they maybe out of sync reason for the frequent snap

My Camry 07 consumes more oil then I realise it’s a oil leak I changed the seal weeks ago and the work is perfect I checked my engine oil now and realise it still consumes oil presently I use mobile XHP 20w50 pls I need your advice. My car doesn’t smoke at all so I don’t think is the pistol ring pls advice me should I change oil first or what can I do. Waiting for your response thanks

2az is known for oil burn, you now use Mobil xhp for servicing. just hold the rpm at 3000 while the car is at rest and check the exhaust if there is smoke. sometimes smoke only appears when acceleration is depressed. if not, the oil has started caking in the engine (sludge) or it is leaking out somewhere some place, wear singlet and boxers and investigate the undercarriage for leaks

nobody has opened my gear b4 in Canada or naija nothing like that. I did maintenance by changing fluid and since I couldn't get texamatic (dextron 3) I used 2years b4 I decided to use Oando as recommended by alot of people. My conclusion is either the Oando is expired or it is just a rubbish oil and I bought it from a fuelling station not roadside.

any way the total is doing good and I will never use nor recommend Oando dextron 3

If I have enough time I want to venture into this, I will get a donor car for the chassis, get a V8 engine and gearbox and build the rest from cabon fibre , I don't have much experience mechanically so need all the help from the gurus in the house ,
Looking at a mid engine 800+ horse power vehicle , I will be checking out owode if I can get a donor car there

you don't need a V8 to build a super car, look for all those sleeper super cars Toyota Supra, Nissan 350, Mitsubishi lancer, Mazda RX series, buy OEM turbo kit and boost the engine prowess and beat everybody on the road as long as the road is raceable. shikena.

horsepower or high number of cylinders doesn't put you in an advantage over contenders. You can also get the open roadster or the Vauxhall VX220 those are small engine supercar destroyers

you have not said anything out of the ordinary and for Christ sake we are not magicians here to decipher car model and year.

when ignition is at AC, ON or I, II depending on car type the oil, battery and some other warning lights would stay on.

When the engine is kicked and working the lights come on and switch off after 3 to 5secs, means the system is ok.

The battery light and oil light when illuminated after car ignition is running means there is a fault somewhere depending on car make and year will determine whether the oil warning light means low oil level or engine oil needs replacement.

sofo the premier oil is still my choice, though planning to service again the last service was the oil Gazzuzz gave me in December I have only done 3k km on that one but need to change since the oil filter has used 6months

Sequel to the thread above, I'm thinking of upgrading to 2006 - 2011 Civic. The 2001 Civic I bought last year was a very good purchase. Very reliable and economic. I'm glad I settled for it.

Now I'm thinking of moving up to the next generation. So I want to ask about the 2006 - 2011 version. Good purchase too? I read somewhere about the factory-fitted engine getting damaged after some years of use, true?

I need experts and users opinions please. How good a purchase is the 2006 - 2011 generation. Fuel consumption, reliability and efficiency

I have 2 people who bought the 06 to 11 brand-new and I have only seen both cars get worked on twice for both and it's always leg work in front what mechanic Is changing or doing can't guess they have used both for approximately 4years plus. The generation after 11 too is been used by a woman also bought brand-new they have never worked on that to my viewing infact she has never opened the bonnet before that one is 3yeara plus.

Civic has always been reliable since it's inception nah Accord K-leg dey give am bad customer choice.

I am certain most if not all engines with timing chain are interference engine.

Every manufacturer has an interference engine and non interference engine, most old engines pre 2000 are non interference not all most.

for every car you are buying just research if it's engine is interference or not. I don't know the designation of every engine I am just an average Joe and I am not a Nissan guy where is that coming from

Drag race is about acceleration and power to weight ratio. The cheetah would win because

1. Has a better acceleration than the F1

2. power to weight ratio of the cheetah is higher than the F1

3. The cheetah converts carbohydrate to energy, while the F1 converts chemical energy to mechanical in a complicated way and energy is loss through several process.

4. The cheetah doesn't utilize a gear the F1 is limited by gear.

Not only bolts, engine internals too have moving parts and vibration occurs, those parts are bolt down in a specific tightness, too loose wahala, too tight wahala.
