My personal opinion, for that much mileage. That vehicle is overpriced........

I think 1.6 area seems a fairer deal..... By the time you put 20K mileage on it, the car would be worthless (considering the 9ja factor)...

Major parts replacement would also become due much sooner than later......

I read severally on nairaland how people had issues with the 2007 and 2008 model. Particularly, I've heard the 2007 model is very problematic and is rated as the worst car ever produced by Toyota in terms of reliability. My colleague in the office recently changed the engine of hers and wants to sell it off. She often complains about one fault or another, how it once developed fault right on the third mainland bridge and several other issues.

2007 had a factory fault on gear but was aggravated mostly by pouring in wrong ATF, the 07 to 09 with 2AZ engine had issues with oil burn which is a factory defect solution was to use proper synthetic oil, monitor oil gauge and replace oil at regular intervals instead of the nonsense 15 to 10k km said by Mobil just be around 8k or less km.

some early oyinbo users complained of sticky accelerator, the AC compressor too gave way close to 100 to 120k km, shocks gave way easily when the cars land for naija especially lagos users. Also the high rate of hijacking by robbers.

Armed with all this info I believe you can decide whether to buy or not.

further more the camry received a facelift in January 2009 and the 2AZ was dropped I only expect a very few 09 model to have 2AZ and a greater % to have 2AR

There are 2009 Camry with 2AZ early production, the latter production were fitted with 2AR.

It is a top selling brand and was bought by alot of people so when they get bored and wish to upgrade the thing go flood market.

if Uber and taxify decide to increase year of acceptable cars, Toyota corolla, matrix and Honda civic too will flood the car market.

don't be alarmed buy but pick 09 and 10 with the 2.5L 2AR engine leave the 2.4L 2AZ in the 07 to 08

the 1.8L was fitted into some cars like Volvo s40, C30, V50, Ford focus, Ford Mondeo

The 2.0, 2.3 and 3.0 was fitted into some certain Ford models so be explicit on what engine yours has so you can go to the right yard to source for it

There is bad noise that comes out when driving, especially on pot holes, like two metals hitting each other.

At first I taught it was the exhaust, but the rubbers are intact.

Two mechanics said it was the shock absorber at the back, bought a new one only for the bad noise to continue after changing the shocks. I'm so sad right now, can't even think straight.

Please help, can a scan of the car reveal this damage?
the noise is so embarrassing. They all claim everything underneath the car is fine.

Tell the mechanic to check the bushings and at the front check the linkage whether it is still good. I guess you just started driving if not you should be able to differentiate what is giving off the sound.

if your area is waterlogged and you have rear brake drums and you recently changed it, let the mechanic check that too fake brake shoes with water injested when hit would bind and cause that sound.

so now
continuous metal clinging sound on smooth road and faint when speed increases point to the rear drum brakes

Metal clinging sound only audible on very bad roads especially when you enter port holes or on a strip that is up and down driving then it definitely is your linkage Infront

Now metal sound that is most visible on uneven surface not only potholes but roads that are rough, passing through a divider gap on a bridge, becomes very worse when you pass a interlocked road that is not smooth then it's definitely bushings that need replacement

in all your problem can't be diagnosed online a physical inspection and driving can only pinpoint to the right direction

The scion is derived from Toyota yaris though with a much bigger 1.8L engine. I did say both the scion and xd are closely identical pick the xd because it is more recent and decent
