feelgoodstuffs:Bros Nissan rogue is not cheap ooo, it's what they used to replace xtrail which is also an expensive CUV. The rogue or qashqi or qashqi II are very good products from Nissan. Identical but different target country. |
shadeyinka:you need enlightenment for this false claim. Go to Texas, carlifonia, Nevada this places are hotter than sokoto and they never remove thermostats fixed into cars there. I have been using my car 5 years in Nigeria bought tokunbo with 300k km on the odometer my thermostat is there fan never ran direct. If I use AC for 10 hours the temp needle dear not move an inch from the middle position nah there he dey stay no overheating or underfreezing |
sylva1:1. It has too many other competitive alternative from Toyota, Nissan and Benz. Even from its own maker (Acura mdx, CRV, HRV, Element) 2. The stereotypes associated with Honda leg pull makes people fear it. in actual fact it doesn't pull leg neither does it have issues. Though the first generation (not the one done with opel,Isuzu and co) don't age too well. same for the odyssey. |
moscobabs:check your thermostat probably faulty. The fan may have been connected directly, when hot the connection cuts and fan stops working. Let the rewire revert the connection back to default use coolant in radiator instead of water. no need to change radiator if you adhere to my instructions |
BestDude:There are some certain Nissan years that have issues. You also have to note that Toyota is still top in reliability hence reason why it is expensive and holds its resale value. but same can't be said for Nissan which is actually better and more rugged than Toyota in certain segment. 1. Nissan Murano. came purely with CVT transmission people didn't realize CVT is different from Automatic so the pour ATF fluid instead or CVT fluid hence the gear pack up in no time. Though the gear from factory too dey one kind due to the fact that Nissan is a pioneer of CVT transmission but as time went by they perfected it in later models. 2. Nissan Altima and maxima. the 2002 to 05 years of this Nissan with auto transmission had issues that's why it's damn cheap the gear too dey pack up with or without regular recommended maintenance. before those year and after those years were OK. Apart from transmission those year had some other minor factory design flaws. 3. Nissan quest 2005 to 2010 this one too has automatic with issues, that's the major fault has a known factory defect that was latter recalled. You can know the affect specimen by running a VIN check. All other Nissan are good but are cheap due to the body, a lot of they just fall apart on heavy use especially when used in bad road, body starts falling like London bridge. There are many Nissan that actually hold value as close to Toyota as it can be. 1. Nissan Xtrail very solid CUV and expensive as tokunbo and Naija used. 2. Nissan Sentry with the QD engine this one doesn't fall apart like it's close siblings I wonder why. 3. Nissan pathfinder. 2003 and 2004 especially, them cost like mad and they are indestructible (metaphor) When buying a Nissan always check the body for rust and be weary of deformity if panel beater hit the boot for adjustment, front bumper go fall of, if he hit the door suspension go bend nah joke ooo |
MotorGuru:like i said the valve needs checking for adjustment on that lambda engine. It's a very tough job, mostly in the states they just sell off the car due to cost of doing it. Even DIY guys shy away from it, it's not an easy job. Excerpts from online forums "Posts on a Hyundai forum suggest that their 3.3L engine has the camshaft driving solid buckets, rather than having self-adjusting hydraulic lifters (as in every other car I have driven)" "I just read in the Haynes Repair Manual (#43055) page 2B-11 that the 3.3L V6 engine use bucket-style lifters that must be replaced with ones of the proper thickness in order to adjust valve clearances. Has anybody here ever heard of this? Have you ever had it done?" "it does say to adjust the valves in the owners manual, but ehh the cost to do it...." |
The lambda 3.3L V6 has been known to require valve adjustment like the old days, because obviously the design engineers skipped it. “A noisy valve is a happy valve.” Sort of true- way too loose can make the thing wear out faster (although way too tight can burn a valve during one good highway run.) You burned the valve during a good highway run, crown bent first, on the return leg, it hit the piston at and odd angle like a knife through butter trapped on the piston, the continous movement finished the remaining work. |
I knew the suspension would break eventually. When force isn't dissipated from a rod, it would eventually break or bend. This one no be driving nah galloping ![]() |
CityNGR:I know, so all this year's your acclaimed forerunner in luxury haven't found a way to incorporate leather and formica there they could have used gold and silver then instead of plastic |
CityNGR:They should have used leather and formica there since benz is an epitome of luxury ![]() |
seanfer:The pilot can be used for long journeys Fuel economy Rav4 V6 Maintenance Rav4 smaller less breakdown and fwd cheap parts against 4wd Cheap parts is subjective. The 3.5L in the pilot may be cheaper than the 3.5L in the Rav4 depending on year and some minor things. But overall suspension parts and fluid change which would be the constant things the rav4 is cheaper. The pilot I haven't heard much complaints but most Nigerian used suv always have suspension noise so do a check for that and rust also. |
Bigsteveg:Upgrade in Nigeria context is facial/appearance it does change the fact that it is still the same year and same everything. upgrade done by manufacturer is much more. let's take the camry for example a 2007 has 2.4L and 5spd auto a 2010 has 2.5L and 6speed auto when you change only bumper and headlamp and leave engine and gear, can we categorically say it's an upgrade. |
seanfer:it's only accord and crv, pilot odyssey, civic, city are good to go |
zsch:The Honda pilot is actually good but what most people don't get is an affordable Nigerian used vehicle in a buy and drive condition has a fix needing attention immediately after purchase. If that pilot is sold for 700k you will spend between 50k to 100k to enjoy for a while. since its SUV you want only look for this vehicle isuzu/Honda/opel/vauxhall - Rodeo/pilot/frontera/frontera they are 95% same vehicle in different badge Isuzu/Acura/Opel - trooper/SLX/Monterrey they are 95% same vehicle. The beauty about this vehicles is they are cheap, they come in 2WD and 4WD it is as strong and high in reliability as the 4runner even better as it doesn't have the leg pull. they all have same 3.2L engine and parts, so the pilot part will fit exactly into the opel etc the only difference is badge and interior finish. Nigerian used in good condition with AC is 500k it has no known factory issue with good bargaining chip you can buy 1 for 350k in lagos. after buying just do maintenance touch up new spark plugs OEM recommended new timing belt water pump and radiator engine oil and filter fuel pump complete bushings and absorbers new tires flashing and body work where necessary Gear fluid change Revert kazzemized connections to factory all this wouldn't cost pass 200k. 400k + 200k =600k and you will enjoy it for a year without issues if you buy brand new OEM parts. vehicle 400k brand new parts 200k if you buy tokunbo you won't spend upto 200k but you won't also enjoy free 1year no spending fueling for a year 100k total 700k |

CityNGR:if it's good enough for others then it's good enough for you. The picanto pick the facelift 2008 upwards with round headlamp against the boxy headlamp. The rio whether it is 1st genration or second is also good, just ensure the 1st genration you pick is injector engine not carburettor. |
steevy:you should only complain if 1. All four or five tyres aren't same size 2. If the tyre is affecting the car by touching the tyre arc or wall there by melting the mud flaps/plastic inner cover 3. if turning to right or left and the wheels touch the car body, this could cause wrapping or contour on the tyres. |
CityNGR:anything not Toyota Lexus Honda has poor second hand value in Nigeria. The reason is perception people thing other brands have no technician and parts aren't available in the market and when available they may cost more than know brands the reverse is often the case. |
zsch:That particular sample clean one in working condition with manual transmission is around 1.2m that one shouldn't go for the 750k means the car has hidden fault or santa clause came early for Xmas. The issue with the 2012 upwards kia and hyundai is their compressor fails, then when engine overheat or gets faulty the price for replacement is hundreds of thousands, a few cash shy of 1million |
zsch:They have poor 2nd hand value especially the manual transmission. but they are good and reliable too. |
greenhulk:camaro or mustang are not luxurious sports cars. They are just sports cars (Muscle category). majority of sports/hyper cars aren't luxury oriented. You also know luxury is subjective. some will tag leather seats, formica ordinary screen as luxury, while some would go extreme as sat navigation, radar lane assist, park assist etc. The American muscles weren't built for luxury in the 1st instance and they still maintain the status quo. |
HRtechnique:visibility issues. most can't see well during rain and some prefer to wait so less visible drivers don't bash them from behind. |
HeavenlyBang:I was referring to the nurburgring comment, making a statement for the Americans |
HeavenlyBang:Okay ooo you just took it personal but a corvette and viper are there nah You know where I stand. |
HeavenlyBang:They aren't cheap sport cars, they actually have lower trims for everyday users, that is where the V6 comes in but when you talk of a real camaro or mustang then you pick the v8s upwards those are the real sports muscle. Every E-class is a luxurious midsized vehicle but all E63s are luxurious midsized sports oriented old timer I never see una record for nurburgring may be it is also as big as APC achievement that it's too big to see
|
HeavenlyBang:camaros and mustangs are actually higher than a benzene or whatever you call it this days. They were built purely for sports enthusiasts not for luxury or good looking. They are muscle sports cars, they aren't the fastest on the track or quickest off the line but they hold their own when needed. They were built for handling and pimping to bring out that refined performance needed. chevy Camaro any day anytime |
seanfer:the vehicle has no issue whatsoever but when you start hearing jingle bells from the wheels have it check to avoid wheel failure (should dance). |
allforfree:go and buy scion TC Renault megane cc 2009 saturn sky ford mustang Nissan 350z leave the Audi TT or Nissan 370z it may share engine with its brothers but those vehicles are complicated engineering. if you want something extremely cheap in the sports category there are some dead beat Benz slk and clk you can buy or lexus SC if you need more cars let me know. |
godwinkessi:calm down there is a difference between stopped accelerating fine which actually indicates limp mode and It enters gear (Shows P R N D on the dash) but wouldn't drive forward or upwards means gear is faulty or shafts Don scatter. let's know the last work that was done and when |
Coldplay007:so you still dey NL? after the race ordeal where you lost woefully you just remained in ur shell like a scared periwinkle ![]() |
sucessdriven:brand new and tokunbo in different shapes and sizes willourbhy street (I may not get the spelling right) in oyingbo Tokunbo mostly at ware house between mushin and ladipo different types no testing, just offloaded etc |

nah joke ooo
they could have used gold and silver then
There's nothing else it does better than the Merc. But people just assume it's some exotic car. The Camaro, in particular.
