Let me ask you something now. Why is it that women in most cases are granted custody and more often than not men are comfortable with it?

Women are presumed to be the primary care givers, and better suited to catering to basic needs of the kids. It isn't necessarily true in all cases, but that's one big reason why.

I'm not sure what you mean by comfortable in this context though. Do you mean those men are totally satisfied with the court decision?

I never said courts force custody on anyone but a woman who says that she doesn't want the custody of her children is considered a bad mother, even in the West, because it is a social norm that a mother has to want it.


This is the discrimination against man that I was talking about right from the beginning. I never said anything else.


The money she gets is for her children. Single mothers in the West are known to be the poorest group of people. A woman with a promising career would make much more money by working than by staying at home with the kids.

Are you implying that one's kids are an unwanted burden? If that is so, maybe the kids should be taken to the orphanage instead of discriminating against both parents by letting their own kids stay with either of them. No?

A woman doesn't even have to stay at home full-time with her kids. There are working single moms in the west, so I don't quite catch your drift sir.

Granting MOST women custody of their kids implies that women are better suited for raising kids, which may not necessarily be so. A father may be well-suited too. Consequently, it is gender bias to claim that a father can't raise his kids properly or that he would do a worse job. Stating that women must raise their kids, deprives them of some opportunities. Having to raise your kids on your own is also a burden. She will find it difficult to pursue a time-consuming career when she is responsible for the kids alone most of the time. She will therefore make less money and have less free-time.

you are making alot of assumptions sir. Has any woman indicated that she doesn't want her kids and yet the court forced costudy on her? Give links to examples of such court decisions if you know any.

I ask again, if a woman wants her kids to live with her and her ex-husband wants the kids to live with him, how is it an act of discrimination against the woman to give her what she wants?

You probably forgot that men are mandated to pay for upkeep of their kids in such situations, maybe that's why you wrote the part about not making enough money because she has her kids with her. Or maybe you just are unaware. Not that it matters.

I am not sure how true the numbers she gives are because she does not back up her arguments with any sources but I believe that the fact that women are most of the time granted custody for their kids is a discrimination against men AND women.

em... I actually was aiming at getting the number of horses by getting the number of men walking. I focused on the number of human legs on the ground, as against horses. An equal number of men are on horse back, which brings the total number of men to 14, same as the number of horses (each man has a horse).

This artcle is not about few fortunate ladies who got married to one wealthy dude but for countless number of those on the other side of the divide.

You noticed that I used 'with no source of income' instead of 'hustling/struggling' and presumed I thought them synonymous. I don't.

Struggling/hustling only explains the effort a person puts forth against the odds. It's always relative to your goal.

If Student A badly wants to make a first class and works very hard at it but cannot seem to break out of the 2.1 zone year after year, he's struggling.

If student B has his sights on a 2.1 cgpa but lags behind no matter how hard he tries, he's struggling.

Now if student C is in the 2.2 zone but isn't perturbed enough to put in more effort, he isn't struggling.

My point is, struggling is a big umbrella that covers many situations. It's the goal that matters. A man may be struggling to become very rich, while another man is struggling to feed himself up to twice daily. My post applies to the latter.

It doesn't make any sense for such a guy to think of feeding another extra mouth when he cannot feed his own comfortably. Marriage is serious business with real responsibilities.

No need talking about hustling cos it has nothing to do with financial status. Even billionaires hustle.

What has the life of the richest men got to do with refusing to marry a man struggling to feed himself? Aren't there hardworking persons who started out very poor and still ended up very poor? Some of them made the unfortunate choice of swimming with baggage when they could barely keep themselves afloat.

Why should a guy who doesn't have any source of income be looking to add the weight of an extra mouth to his burdens? Why should any reasonable girl say yes? Just so she can be called mrs?

You should realise that there are deal-breakers for any sort of relationship. Traits the absence of which cannot be overlooked. Women also have deal-breakers. You should respect that.

Age... The age thing is personal. Some guys can marry ladies older than them, but some guys would rather die first before that happens. No one has come out to rebuke the latter class of guys for their stance. Why is the female stance on age an issue?

Anyway I think you people place too much emphasis on getting married. What's the use saying yes to these just to get into a marriage that would leave you feeling caged and desperate to escape?

Take some time to read some of the many ridiculous divorce cases springing up everyday. Some of the ladies involved said yes to these things. Years later they are screaming no. Maybe they are still better than those who get married late, no matter how good the marriage turn out.

I think you are mixing up romance and religion. Religion section is in charge of denouncing premarital sex. You are assuming everyone believes the same thing, and that they are acting contrary to their beliefs.
