you had the trouble to comprehend my POV, my quote never said the virus is a SCAM, I am very reasonable to conclude that, I only watched the video and judged it by what I saw, I compared other patients from part of the world to ours, I compared Isolation centers of other nations to ours, even China has patients dancing for the purpose of exercises but it was mild, that viral video looked so unbelievably loose guarded, and I said covid-19 patients are to prone difficulty breathing, these ones have either fully recovered or not sick at all.

You comment of course didn't say the virus was a scam, but correct me if I'm wrong, your point is that those you saw in the videos of the Nigerian isolation centre, dancing energetically and eating cheerfully could not possibly have been real covid19 patients (or they may be recovered patients) because real covid19 patients should be prone to at least some breathing difficulties. The point myself and some others have tried to explain to you is that your assumption is wrong! A very important point to note is that the majority of corona virus carriers show absolutely no symptoms even till they become negative. Some others show mild symptoms and less than 10% get serious (i.e. the stage where they suffer severe breathing difficulties and may need ventilators).

You keep saying you watched videos of patients from other parts of the world and the situation doesn't compare to the Nigerian case. Every country has a different approach to handling the pandemic. I live in the UK and here they don't even have isolation centres like we do in Nigeria. If you experience some symptoms or think you've been in contact with the virus, you will be tested. If it returns positive, you will be advised to stay at home and avoid going out for 2 weeks so as not to spread the virus (the govt trusts you to do the right thing). A patient will only be permitted in the hospital ward only if their situation becomes serious. So when the news shows you a video of covid19 patients in the UK, you only get to see the reality of the less than 10% of the patients whose cases are serious; the remaining 90% (who you dont get to see) remain in their homes and would obviously be singing and dancing too.

Nigeria has a different approach to managing the virus; if anyone tests positive in Nigeria, they are taken straight to an isolation centre, symptoms or no symptoms. Those you see dancing energetically in Nigerian isolations centres are mostly the asymptomatic patients or patients with mild symptoms (who actually are in the majority). If those folks dancing were to be in the UK, they would have been self isolating in their homes.

The virus affects people differently. If you read the story well, only two out of eleven had the respiratory difficulty. Some of the kids were even doing online schooling. The kids had the energy to do that they could as well had had the energy to dance.

It's actually surprising that up till date, some people still struggle to understand this very simple concept.

So from all that you just read, the lesson you could gather from it is that "because the author suffered respiratory difficulty, so therefore ALL covid19 patients MUST also have breathing difficulty"? If the person doesn't degenerate to the stage of breathing difficulty, then the person cant possibly have the virus?

Covid 19 is not a scam. But the fact is that it was overhyped. The complete or partial lockdown of the economy was a very big mistake. It was more like killing a fly with a sledge hammer. And the impact we'll suffer for years to come more than the actual virus.

We should always try to stay safe, especially those with hbp, diabetes or some serious health issues, also the aged above 60 yrs. Let's eat healthy and live a good lifestyle and covid won't be a problem.

Overhyped? We should only be thanking our stars the disease isnt spreading as fast in Nigeria as it is in other climes. If people started dying on the streets like it happened in some European countries, you think Nigeria would have recovered?

Are you sure it's really less deadly in Nigeria than overseas? Remember only 3% or less of cases are fatal.

Because the pictures and videos you see on the news from overseas are of the critical cases, that doesn't make it the norm for 100% of cases.

Yes the projections are lofty but it's not impossible. In fact China builds 6000km of road every year, and I believe a country like Nigeria needs an aggressive approach towards infrastuctural development. It is not a secret that Nigeria and that in fact most african nations are far behind in this regard. I'd want to set Nigeria apart and possibly open a new frontier as to what's possible on the continent. Tackling this particular issue of lack of road and rail infrastructure will open the economy to wild opportunities. It'll turn Nigeria into a haven for retail giants like Amazon, Walmart, Apple, Automobile companies and list goes on. If we do well, It'll expose new business opportunities for local civil engineering firms in neighboring countries and beyond.

Of course we're all aware of the benefits of these things. But like I said before, even Britain which is 100 times richer than Nigeria cant achieve that feat in 4 years. You havent still explained how you're going to raise the funds for these massive projects, except you'd be borrowing 10 times more than what Bubu plans to borrow.

When a road is concessioned, it becomes the duty of the 'owners' to rehabilitate the road and maintain it. The concessionnaire will face a fine if they allow any section of the road degrade without fixing it on time.

Not every road will be concessioned, the taxes can take care of other roads not mentioned ehich make up the majority.

By the way, how many people pay taxes in Nigeria and how much taxes do they even pay? In countries where people pay taxes from their noses, they still toll some roads.

Your problem seems to be that private people will 'profit' from roads, not minding that the roads would be made motorable. With the roads being the dilapidated torture channels and death traps which they currently are in the hands of govt, does it actually make you feel better just knowing that no private person profits?

Yeah that's right! And the reason the company works efficiently is because Shell (I think) operates it. I wouldnt want to imagine what would become of NLNG if the largest shareholder (NNPC) were to be the operators.

In countries where things work, that's how it is done. YES of course, investors are out to make money, and that's why they will make things work so their income wouldn't stop flowing. The only reason we have a functional telecommunications system in Nigeria from mobile calls to internet is because that sector is under private hands.

And yeah, just like mobile telecoms, if we want things to work in Nigeria, we should be ready to pay for things. There's no alternative.

Which one benefitted lagosians or you don't realise that if he gives concession at certain distances, you will pay toll after few distances till you get to your destination! That's a rip off, in case you don't know especially when we already paid all forms of road tax ranging from vehicle license to the one embedded in when we buy fuel. Interstate transport becomes more expensive and I promise you, forget all those trash he said, there will be no improvement on the road, just be extorting the already struggling citizens, not to mention the impact on goods and services. This extortion just to make a few richer cos they will start collecting toll before any road transformation .

Whether they allocate it to themselves, it would still be better off in private hands than under govt control. How well has your governments managed anything since 1960?

What has ever been done properly in Nigeria?

The key point to note is that nothing operated by Nigerian govt works.

The only reason we have phones or internet in Nigeria today is cos that sector is run wholly by private companies. The only govt establishment which works well in Nigeria today is NLNG, but that's because it's wholly managed/operated by the IOCs.

If the sale of refineries by OBJ to a serious individual like Dangote wasnt reversed by Umaru, Nigeria wouldnt currently be importing 99.9%% of its petroleum products (regardless of how bad that privatisation may have been handled). Have the refineries been faring better under govt control?... This needs no answer.

In summary.... Has privatisation been done properly in the past in Nigeria? NO!

Can privatisation be done properly? YES

Even if privatisation is executed poorly, do the assets/establishments have a better chance of survival under private hands? YES!
