The leaders we have arent some extraterrestrial beings from Mars or Jupiter; neither are they from Brazil or Cambodia. The leaders are from amongst us; all tribes and ages and genders and ethnicities represented, and their actions are simply a reflection of our collective toxic morals as a people.

I was responding to a comment where someone suggested Nigerians should come together and take back power from the leaders. Some even suggest a bloody people-led revolution to kill all leaders and their families. But take this from me, the moment say the top 1000 or 10,000 leaders are wiped out, they will INSTANTLY be replaced by ordinary Nigerians with the absolute same rotten morals.

If only Nigerians can see the big picture, then we'd know the problem isn't the leaders, but rather us all.

Sadly, nothing is going to happen after all this noise. This isn't the first time such revelations will be made in Nigeria. Meanwhile dont get it twisted, Akpabio himself is a kingpin in all these.

Poverty, both physically and mentally has crippled the ability of the masses to conduct any kind of revolution whatsoever. Even if the the culprits stealing these funds are exposed and publicly judged, their biggest defenders would still be those same suffering masses who they ironically steal from. The narrative would simply be "Hausa Fulanis" are stealing our oil and still trying to oppress our brothers"; even educated and exposed people would buy into this argument and hell will be let loose.

Nigeria is filled with people with bizarre mentalities; the country's a hopeless and helpless case! Only solution is a foreign invasion and colonisation. Even if it's a brutal takeover and enslavement, I'm certain the masses will get much bigger crumbs if that happens.

Yeah of course the excuse it that he put up a statement hidden at the bottom indicating it was parody, but how many people really get to see that?

Fake accounts like this cause a lot of confusion online. I've seen several people creating fake parody accounts for different agencies in Nigeria including the Army, DSS and police. Basic rule if you must make a parody account is to make it very obvious, e.g start by spelling the name visibly different.

No my mentions were purely based on funds available to the governors. Kogi, Abia and Enugu are fairly poor states, so their governors can be forgiven.

A lot of Nigerians just fail to analyse performance of leaders with the right yardsticks.

Compared to Anambra and other states generally, do you know the kind of revenue accruing to akwa ibom yearly? They consistently gets the highest allocation of all 36 states every year. Meanwhile the state is made up of 90% forest. The fact that the few cities there arent close to Dubai yet, the fact that they till have schools with dilapidated classrooms, the fact they still have communities without clean drinking water and the fact they haven't been able to build the Ibaka seaport for the past 20 years, that already speaks volumes on how useless their governors have been.

Reason why in 2014, 'Terrorist Watch' ranked them the 4th deadliest terrorist group globally. But of course a lot of Nigerians down south never heard of herdsmen until May 2015 when Buhari became president (i.e. the time when politicians decided to start playing national politics with the crisis).

On insecure routes has anyone picked up a map to see what route this pipeline would need to enter Europe, the easiet being Algeria, but then you ask if Algeria has massive gas reserves and has not built it's own pipeline to Europe why should she allow a foreign pipeline.

Algeria and Morocco already have existing subsea pipelines to Spain. But they dont have enough gas to meet European demand. I agree with the Op to an extent; if the medium term plan for the AKK pipeline isn't to get Nigerian gas connected to Europe, then the economic viability and priority of the pipeline is questionable.

Looks like these Jonathanians will still keep on wailing even till 2080.

I had a girlfriend some few months back before the covid 19 outbreak, that was after we went home from school due to the strike and the pandemic, we both are in the same school which is IBB university lapai, in our final.

The next day, what she told me was still bordering me, so many things were just running on my mind...so even if by mistake I wife her in future and the Lord decide to take me when we have a grown up child like me, who is planning on becoming a graduate this year and have even spent 30 years in marriage already....she won't even mourn me for long before accepting another man's proposal or bleeping with another man or probably her one time ex.

I decided to ask my mum with play, mum be sincere to me, you and my dad have been married since far back 1986... U both were in marriage for about 30 yrs before he past away few years ago, may his soul rest in peace..this is 5yrs now are you considering on marrying any one or having any kind of body movement or even can stand the presence of another man in your life?

Your mum is 52, and probably has another 30-40+ years to live on earth. You sound like you're somewhere between 25 - 30 years old and if you arent already away from home, you will be leaving home very soon. So in essence, you want your 52 year old (still reasonably young) mum to live for the next 40+ years alone and in isolation because of what exactly? Because you will give her grandchildren?

If you and your kids would live under the same roof with your mum for the next 40 years, then no problem. But if you plan to abandon her but only visit with her grandkids say once or twice a year, then you must be a very selfish man. Do you know isolation can drive a person to depression?

Allow your mum to make that decision herself. Marriage is more about companionship than sex. On the surface, theres absolutely nothing wrong with your girlfriend's suggestion, it's actually a mature suggestion.

Nigerians of course have a right to feel bad over harsh economic situations. But this increase you have here is just an effect of the govt no longer paying subsidies. Except your proposal is for the govt to keep paying subsidies, I'm not sure I understand what your blames are for.

Petroleum product prices in those other countries you talk about is not increasing because it has always been high; those countries have always had it deregulated and prices fixed based on market forces. I live in the UK, do you know how much I pay for a litre of fuel? £1.10 currently (and this is the lowest it's ever been , thanks to low oil prices). Pump price in Nigeria is one of the cheapest in the world even at N145, and this is because the govt always subsidises the cost. Whilst we agree that removing subsidy will cause hardship, if we must tell ourselves the truth, Nigeria cannot afford to keep paying subsidies. The only countries where the pump price is as cheap or cheaper than Nigeria are those mega rich oil producing nations like Saudi whose governments have a massive financial war-chest to even dispense petrol free of charge.

Nigeria imports petrol with dollars. The exchange rate has more than doubled since the date you refer to. Do the maths!

I thought the president promised during his campaign against Jonathan that he won't pay subsidy and that's why PMS was been sold for 143 naira ever since he entered Office.... So why am I now hearing about he has removed subsidy ? Is it possible to remove subsidy again after you've removed it the first time ? Subsidy was removed when pump prices was increased to N145 in 2016. Of course following severe groaning from Nigerians, when oil prices increased further (prompting pump prices above N145), it was a politically inexpedient to let that happen. So subsidy was systematically re-introduced (under a new name called 'under-recovery') to peg the prices at N145. With oil prices rising much further, the amount spent / lost for the so-called under-recovery increased. This year, Covid19 crisis has forced oil prices to drop to record lows again. The government has just made another attempt (about a month or 2 ago) to stop subsidy finally. This time I doubt the govt would reverse on this decision because even the recent loan the FG got from the world bank, part of the conditions was that fuel subsidy would never be re-introduced.
