So kindly provide just one evidence to back up your claim that $1billion can indeed produce almost 2000mw; heck! that's even too much, just provide any example of any wind farm project globally where $1bn produces up to 1000mw.

Well, it all balls down to trust. When the debate for fuel subsidy removal was on, the points made by SLS and NOI in support of subsidy removal were very clear to all, but the lackadaisical attitude of the government in going after the fraudsters led to the disapproval by the Nigerian masses.

And yeah, it was the Nigerian people that roundly rejected it then, not any particular cabal, Nigerians have always rejected and protested every single fuel price increase since as long as I can remember, so I don't see how the one of 2012 (almost a 100% increase) could have been any different, or the work of a cabal.

Of course APC borrowed more than PDP but giving the 16 vs 3 years is a sensational comparison to sway emotions. Firstly, as at 2008/2009, Nigeria was virtually free of debts and all the debts by PDP were only from 2009-2015. So if we must compare, it is actually 6 vs 3 years, not 16 vs 3 years.

And then if its analysed a little more critically, the only way to get out of a recession is to borrow and spend. As at late 2014 when oil prices was still up to $70, the finanxe ministry already predicted a major economic crisis and it stepped up borrowing to prevent a recession. We all know that by end 2015/start 2016, oil prices dropped further to $28, Nigeria's oil export also dropped by over 60% due to pipe bombings and in general, Nigeria's income dwindled by over 70-80% heralding the official recession in Q1 2016. Irrespective of the low income, Nigeria still had standard operational/recurrent expenses that needed to be met, salaries had to be paid, hospitals had to be run, armed forces had to be financed etc., and since there was virtually nothing in savings, borrowing was the only option.

So without much thought, I think it's quite clear to all why Nigeria had to borrow so much between 2015 and 2017. The question that really bogs my mind is why Nigeria had to borrow so much between 2009 and 2015 when oil sold for averages over $100, and when Nigeria received unprecedented high income.

i.e. roughly $500million ==> 1000mw

Wind turbines are that cheap and Nigeria is still struggling to fund thermal plants?... If clean renewable energy could be gotten that cheap, you think the world would still be struggling to build nuclear or gas or coal plants?... Bro, clean renewable energy isnt cheaper YET. And stop being too aggressive insulting everyone while you embarrass yourself.

I don't understand the gas constraint issue, we produce 8.3 billion cubic ft of gas everyday. where do they go to?. if it is inability to get the gas where it is needed, that shouldn't take 10 years. a year is enough to build all the glass pipeline we need.

Do you know what it takes to conceptualise, design and construct a pipeline?... That's not to even mention the cost. Nigeria totally lacks a gas distribution infrastructure/network and that isn't something that can be done overnight.

I may not understand how these things work but I choose to look at this from a different perspective, not just the simplistic point of view. Someone should correct me if I'm wrong, as at 2008/2009, Nigeria was virtually free of debts, and our debts rose from nothing to 12 trillion by ending 2015. And then between ending 2015 and 2017, a further 9 trillion was added.

From my vague understanding of economics, countries as a matter of urgency need to borrow to spend their way out of recession. As at late 2014/early 2015 when oil still sold for up to $70, warning shots were already being sent out by the Finance ministry that doomsday was nigh and the government's borrowing was ramped up at that time. As at end 2015/early 2016, oil price dropped to $28 and oil production dropped by over 60%; in total, Nigeria's revenue dropped by up to 70-80% in that period and throughout 2016, and there's was virtually nothing in savings to counter the revenue shortfall. Workers had to be paid, hospitals and several other services needed to be run etc and all these needed money which was non-existent.

In my opinion, I think its quite clear why Nigeria had to borrow N9trillion between 2015 and 2017; what I do not understand and can't explain however is why Nigeria had to borrow N12trillion between 2009 and 2015, a period when the country enjoyed the largest unprecedented oil income.

Ordinarily, with the nation's income now back up, and with the aggressive tax drive, I imagine the rate of borrowing will drop, and the little projects here and there which those monies were spent on over the years would start becoming visible (hopefully).

So because there are no thriving seaports in the Niger Delta region, you are asserting that it is a useless venture having a standard railway connecting the coastal cities?... I'm sorry to say but no single economist can possibly agree with you on that. Anyone who has an understanding of basic developmental economics recognizes the importance of a robust transportation infrastructure as a key driver for an economic revolution.

So since we have no thriving seaports in the ND, are you also of the opinion that the East-West road which connects the coastal states is another useless project?... What exactly is this whole noise about seaport seaport seaport which pervades the air lately?... A new ideology now seems to promote seaports as the holy grail for economic activity.

Meanwhile, this plan was even announced since 2015.

You said it all, Dangote doesn't have the intelligence to become a rich man, he is just enjoying federal government monopoly empowerment and influx of looted Niger delta oil money from the northerners, they close Ibeto cement for him to excel in cement business.

A rich man that cannot develop a single product but keep on copying and closing down people businesses because he has federal backed power.

The jealousy and hatred against Dangote is real; it will officially become a registered religion when his refinery comes on stream in 2020 and then government stops the importation of fuel completely. grin
