trinity11:My point is that you and too many other people here are just too fixated on the fact that some northern communities were mentioned and hence we miss the real picture. Fact is that I wouldnt be surprised if that part of the bill was wholly fought for by reps from the hundreds of new southern communities that would now be treated as host communities. The north might not even have anything to do with this at all. |
trinity11:SO there are no Christian senators or Reps in the north?... Dogara the Speaker of the Reps from Bauchi state is a Muslim right?... Why don't you help us subtract all the Christian senators from the north too, maybe we should have started from there. But then again, doesn't it boggled your mind that whenever something that benefits the north comes up, both Christian and Mulsim northerners unite instantly?... Once again, 'unity' is the strength of the north, not numbers, Regarding the second paragraph, I'm not sure I understand your point. I simply mentioned that the clause in the PIB which includes pipeline bearing communities as 'host communities' will benefit far more southern communities that the few northern communities which we seem to be fixated on right now. Representatives from the hundreds of communities which will benefit from this wouldn't bat an eyelid if one or two northern communities get to benefit from it. |
trinity11:I am not the one making the laws, so if it doesn't make sense, direct that picture to the right quarters. I only explained it the way I read it from the Op. And from my understanding of what I read, far more communities in the south would now be included as host communities. The essence of my comment was to clarify that we all seemed to miss the big plot by being fixated only on the few northern communities that were included. |
addictiv:Well, that's what I'm seeing just like you. The new development gets to include many more southern communities in the feast. I wouldn't be surprised if it is these numerous other southern communities that fought to include this in the bill. But obviously, all we mostly see from this report is that some communities in the 'north' will benefit from PIB. |
nototribalist:Lol.. people wey dey benefit dey benefit, you dey here wan kill person?.. You know how many new niger delta communities get to benefit from this 'pipeline bearing community' clause?... You dey here dey cry for ND because you see 'north', meanwhile people wey u dey cry for no dey cry. |
Kyase: ![]() Dem don finish me since... The banter no dey affect me again. |
Newmanluckyman: drnoel:North: 58 Senators, 191 Reps South: 51 Senators, 169 Reps Politics requires numbers, the easiest way to gather numbers is to unite. The north may have more numbers than the south in principle, but it's an insignificant difference. The middle-belt is a fertile battle ground, with a little politicking (a.k.a. reaching out/alliances/bribing), legislators from places like Benue, Kwara, Kogi, Plateau can easily be swayed and removed from those northern numbers. Removing the 11 Reps from Benue alone and adding that to the south equalises the northern and southern numbers. So enough of this 'north have more legislators' overused argument, what they have is 'unity' not numbers. Regarding the bill, this isn't even about the north, it's about the hundreds (if not thousands) of Niger-Delta communities that would be included in the benefits by virtue of including 'pipeline bearing' communities in the list of 'host communities.' The north may not have even needed to fight for this at all. |
Odingo1:Put your emotions aside and re-read that report. I know what an oil rig is very well and I understand the environmental effects. The bill covers oil producing communities and these main communities will receive the lion share. Communities housing installations like flowstations would also be termed host communities (in my opinion, these communities actually suffer the most because of the huge flares which is always present during normal operation). Lastly, the bill covers pipeline bearing communities, these are communities which just have pipelines crossing their land. From the Nigerian experience, the biggest environmental impact comes from burst pipelines and this affects mainly remote communities where pipelines traverse hence it makes sense to include these communities. Like I said before, it is even the Niger-Delta Reps that would fight for this to be included in the bill because thousands of new communities would stand to gain from this and they can't be bothered about the few communities outside the ND which may gain as well. You asked how many times there's been oil spills in the north?... Are you suggesting that only communities that have experienced oil spills in the past that should be considered?... If that's the case, do you know how many ND, SE and SW communities that would be erased from the PIB gains? Once again, put your overflowing emotions (against the north) aside and you will get my point. |
ifyan:Of course, they appear to know how to take care of their own while southern politicians seem to care only about what enters their personal pockets. |
ifyan: ogene007: QueenOfNepal: Kyase: johnreh: drnoel:If you remove that clause that says 'pipeline bearing' communities are 'host communities', you will be shocked that very many Niger-Delta oil communities would be stripped of their status. The north doesn't even need to fight for this, Niger-Delta representatives are the ones who would fight to include this clause because in reality, most of these communities only just have pipelines passing through them. But then when you look at it again, the real oil producing communities hardly even suffer environmental degradation, almost all oil spills in Nigeria are due to pipeline loss of containment and this affects 'pipeline bearing' communities mainly. Although we must all agree it sounds very provoking (especially with the tension in Nigeria today) when you hear that some communities in the NORTH will also benefit from PIB. ![]() |
Didn't know there were pipelines in Kano. But then, whilst this report will raise many eyebrows (obviously cos north is mentioned), I think it makes logical sense to those who understand it. Fact is that, if communities which produce oil are the only ones referred to as host community, thousands of Niger-Delta communities would be stripped off their oil revenue status as there are only few communities which actually produce the oil while others only house flow-stations or just pipelines. |
Ovaiegbe:Naaa.... That guy is the deputy governor for crying out loud, he's definitely not standing slightly behind because of an 'oga-boyboy' relationship as you claim. It looks to me more like just a random picture taken when the governor was speaking to the other guy, hence the guy in the middle had to step back for visibility. I see nothing more. |
There's just one umbrella, and one person has to hold it. Residual slave mentality is what makes many people think there is something wrong with this picture; people with this paranoid type mentality view and interpret everything as someone trying to enslave the other. |

GenBuhari:The bolded is because when they have major health challenges, they dont vie for presidential or prime ministerial positions, or if they do and win, they usually step aside when/if the illness begins to get on the way of their performance. |
omanzo02:It's really sad that very many Nigerians reason this way. To these people, a good government is the one which abandons the thousands of old ongoing projects of their predecessors and starts new projects in their own name. No wonder we have thousands upon thousands of abandoned projects littering the Nigerian landscape, because obviously, the leaders understand the shallowness of most Nigerians who gauge success as the number of new projects commenced and not the number of old projects progressed or completed. |
Whynotthetruth:You keep shouting the word lie lie lie!! like a nursery school infant who recently just learnt the word. What exactly is a lie about what I stated? So based on info on the link you posted above, your brain now interprets it that Abuja-Kaduna rail isnt fast rail or isn't part of the railway modernisation project?.... Or because Labaran Maku made a statement about the Ajaokuta-Warri rail line being completed by Jonathan, what bearing exactly does that have on what I said about OBJ being the one who built it?.... Are you saying it was GEJ that built it?.... When you are ignorant, humble accept that you are ignorant and stop making a further fool of yourself in public. Going by your logic, if GEJ is the one who built the Ajaokuta-Warri standard gauge rail (which was over 90% completed by the time GEJ assumed office), then it is undisputable that Buhari is the one who built the Abuja - Kaduna rail. How about that? This is the same way some imbeciles also said during the last elections that GEJ was the one who built/dualised the Owerri-Onitsha expressway. Why do I even bother responding to these faceless daft characters online? ![]() |
Whynotthetruth:3) Please remind me what lie did you burst?... I'm really confused by your incoherent argument. At firt you claim Amaechi isn't working on any railway, then again you return and support someone who says Amaechi/Buhari changed the railway masterplan and bypassed the SE. You seem to be having a short-circuit somewhere. 4) Just imagine the 'thing' trying to educate me on types of railways/trains; he obviously doesnt know the Abuja to Kaduna modern standard gauge track can accommodate fast trains. Mr Truth, the railway modernisation plan involves planting modern standard gauge rails to connect different parts of the country. To even clarify, the project wasn't conceived by GEJ, it was by OBJ. Secondly, OBJ built the first section of standard gauge rail in that masterplan which is the Ajaokuta-Warri section. THe next section built was by GEJ from ABuja-Kaduna. Currently, Buhari is making efforts to start the Lagos-Kano and Calabar-Lagos sections. Due to the capital intensive nature of these projects, the plan is to start with the Lagos-Ibadan axis of the Lagos-Kano, and the Calabar-PH axis of the Calabar-Lagos. I do not know the reason behind your ridiculous distortion of facts, what are you even all about?... Firstly you claim Amaechi isn't working on any railways, and then you turn around to support the argument that Amaechi changed the masterplan to exclude SE. How do you even sleep at night after spewing all these nonsense? You lads are really confused but have no one to tell you. Firstly Mr Truth claims that Amaechi isn't working on any railway plan, then again he comes back support the argument which says that Buhari/Amaechi has changed the railway masterplan and excluded the SE. Mr Truth goes on again to post a rail map supposedly approved by GEJ which covers the entire Nigeria, but he fails to acknowledge (even when he is told) that the so called Lagos-Kano and Calabar-Lagos standard gauge railways which Buhari/Amaechi have been talking about since 2015 are also part of the same railway map approved by GEJ. |
judgedredd22:I was about to ask you to show me the origin GEJ modernised railway plan and also to explain what the changes are in the one being implemented by the current admin which makes you think Amaechi is a fool. And then behold! I took a second look and saw the image you attached showing what looks to me like a Google Map 'Road' route from Calabar-Enugu-Lagos. www.nairaland.com/attachments/5496374_railcf5f6uw4aatxpg_jpeg5af5ef2fe1ecaa0509fa29aec5d03fc7 While it seems a silly thing to do, I will give you the benefit of the doubt; but abeg, can you kindly provide any link or supporting evidence that this Google Map image is what GEJ approved as railway modernisation plan? @Whynotthetruth, kindly come in here and help me confirm if you agree with your friend here. Is the image above the railway modernisation plan which you agree was drawn by GEJ? |
Whynotthetruth: judgedredd22:Honestly I really don't know whether it is 'sense' that evaded some people or whether it is just the people that rejected common sense when it was being shared by God. ![]() Now that you have presented the railway modernisation masterplan (which clearly shows the entire Nigeria and even Cameroon captured), I implore you to kindly show me and your cheering/liking fans which railway masterplan Amaechi is working to since you claim Amaechi is working to a different plan which excludes the SE? https://www.thecable.ng/wp-content/uploads/2014/12/Abuja.jpg The entire railway masterplan which is proposed to be completed in 25 years covers the entire Nigeria. There's visibly the coastal section which runs through the entire coastal states from Cross-Rivers to Akwa-Ibom to Abia to Rivers, Bayelsa, Delta, Edo, Ondo, Ogun and terminates at Lagos. Unfortunately you chaps claim to be blind bats that can't see that, or maybe you both don't even have the basic literacy to comprehend the railway map you even presented. Of course there's also a section which runs from Lagos to Kano. The plan is to be executed in 25 years, GEJ built only the Abuja to Kaduna section (purely in the north) and handed over to Buhari. Buhari/Amaechi are currently focusing on the Lagos to Ibadan section and Calabar to PH section (this section touches the SE city of Aba). But of course, what else should one expect from people who have mortgaged their literacy for Jonathanian worship?... for crying out loud, that you support GEJ, does it mean you must discard your brains? You both claim Amaechi is a fool who is marginalising the south east because he focuses on the Lagos to Ibadan and Calabar to PH sections (which even touches the SE). But GEJ who focused only on the Abuja to Kaduna section is a hero who doesn't marginalise the SE as you accuse Amaechi of? ![]() I give up! |
Whynotthetruth:The Nigerian railway modernisation masterplan. |
akpamuomenka:Continuing a project conceived by predecessors is cluelessness right? Of course the tradition of PDP is to abandon projects, no wonder we have over 2000 major projects abandoned across the length and breadth of the nation, a PDP president wouldnt even continue/complete the project of his predecessor who was even a fellow PDP man. So I am not surprised that their ignorant supporters think APC is clueless for choosing to complete abandoned projects instead of starting new ones. |
SHAKABOOM:The masterplan of the railway which Amaechi is building today was produced under GEJ's govt. Amaechi is only continuing the project as seen in the masterplan. So if you must pass blames (which isnt even necessary), we all know who should really get the blame. Stop insulting Ameachi out of your own ignorance. |
Other members of the gang that were also arrested at different locations include Felix Chinemerem, 36, from Arochukwu in Ohafia Local Government Area of Abia State, and Nwosu Chikodi Chukwuma, aka Sudo, 42, and is said to have over 20 years experience in armed robbery and about eight years experience in kidnapping.Jesus Christ.... see CV, 20 years cognate experience in armed robbery and 8 years in kidnapping. ![]() |

Pasidon:Except you did not grow up in Nigeria, that is the only ground on which you can claim you haven't seen herd of cattle roaming the streets, schools etc. I did not say it was right, I only said it wasnt a new thing and I also questioned the motives of people (see other comments on this thread) who now baselessly attribute it to politics. |
Pasidon:Since you were born, is this the first time you have seen cattle roaming about in inappropriate places?... How come many people (maybe not including you) now interpret this old trend with the eyes of politics? |
Much ado over nothing! It's definitely not a decent thing for cattle herdsmen to direct their cows through places like public roads, schools etc. But a fact is that this has been always been an age long thing in Nigeria. Fast-forward to 2015, it is now termed political; people now believe or claim the cows are passing through school fields because a Fulani man is president. ![]() |
