Kanana:
I just cant comprehend what the Igbos really want anymore. You ve made much noise on having a Biafra and the North has issued you with a "sack letter". So expectedly Igbos should have left the North by now and move back to that gully eroded enclave. But alas the music has changed to " we cant leave our hard earned assets behind". Werent you aware of this before you
allowed a London okrika selling albino to lead you astray?

Yeah the flat nosed girl with a pushed up bra emotionally narrated how she and her family got it bad in the North. But worse scenario happens to the mainly menial Northerners in the East as enlightened Northerners avoid staying in the East like the plague because they know how inhospitable and wicked the igbos are to themselves not to talk of outsiders. Such incidence dont get reported because those mostly affected are always the unlearned but surely no igbo can deny such barbaric acts happening.

Despite the threat and declaration the igbos are not willing to leave the North for the East. That should tell the Biafrauds that other igbos would rather stay in the North rather than go back to the East as that will be worse than anything that could ever happen to them where they are.
There's really no point making up unfound stories to drive home your point. There's no historic record of non-Igbos living in Igboland being maltreated. There are countless number of Hausas living in the SE, every city in the east has an 'ama awusa' or 'Hausa quarters' and there's no record of anyone suffering any inhospitable treatment. Only time there may have been maltreatment of Hausas in the SE is in cases of reprisals following a massacre of Igbos up north, and this typically happens only in a place like Aba.

Once again, you can pass your message without necessarily having to lie or make up stories.

It will be clear then that the hostility is not coming from your so called compatriots. In that case relational ties and treaties can be severed without any major consequenses.
Bro, it will take a whole generation of orientation and re-orientation to wipe off the animosity most irate northerners have for Igbos. No amount of treaties or threats of relationship severance can stop the irate northern youth on the streets from carrying out their plots... I dont know where some people get these sort of weird idealist imaginations from that a 'treaty' between the governments of two underdeveloped chaotic countries can possibly stop that grown-up uneducated almajiri on the dusty street from venting his anger on the nearest 'infidel/nyamiri'..

Wat exactly is ur problem. Taraba just passed an anti grazing bill against herdsmen. Same people u complain kill u are filtering out d chaotic ones (who were originally never nigerians). Wit such spirit one is left to wonder why it was d afonjas who ejected slavers.
I was simply stating a fact about an inherent hatred northerners have for Igbos, a hatred which transcends human understanding which drives them to unleash fatal violence on their targets at the slightest provocation. By the way, don't get it twisted, Taraba state is a peaceful uneventful Christian state which totally isn't in the league of the hostile locations I referred to. Now again, it's also imperative you go back and read my first comment which you quoted, I never called for secession as a solution; rather I questioned secession proponents by asking how they think secession of the SE will solve the problem of violent attacks against peaceful Igbos living in the north.

Your perception of the whole thing is wrong,in religious riot they kill Christians not Igbos,if Nigerian government allow them to be killing Christians in their country as they like, that is their own cup of tea,the international community will react to it.
This international community which you claim would start reacting, I'm still wondering what has stopped them from reacting in all other carnages recorded through history. I also wonder what will prompt them to start 'reacting' in this promised ideal world which you keep fantasizing about.

Mr Man, stop deceiving yourself; at the slightest provocation, those guys look for the easiest Igbo target and fiam! they pull out their knives. They paint most of the crisis with the religious undertone and you dont need me to remind you of the religious intolerance and extremism. At every chance, they begin to target Christians, of which Igbos make up a high proportion of Christian communities in those cities. They generally believe the Igbos are the cause of all their problems. You were caught in that line of fire because in their eyes, they can't differentiate you from an Igbo man. The people perpetrating the carnage up north can't tell the difference between an Igbo or a Delta or Edo or even Yoruba man.

I have lived in different countries where Igbo traders control big businesses, but because they are just there for only business, the host dont envy them,in the Gambia, senegal,Duala cameroon, some trading is mainly done by Igbos like spare parts, articles and building and made in Aba imported goods. But the host dont attack them because their businesses is a source of government revenue, the government will not support any killings.
In Nigeria the 2011 killings after the elections wouldnt have affected the Igbos
if they are Biafrans because they wont vote and have no say in the election,so the opponents wont see them as a threat.
If Igbos don't have right to vote in lagos will Oba of lagos have their time to be talking to them or threatening them,no,because they will just go about their businesses, pay their tax and live according to the law as they are doing in Gambia,Senegal,Coteivoire,Ghana etc.
EmeeNaka:
I am very sure that the reason Northerners kill Igbos/ Non northerners is because of Nigeria. It's being in the same country that causes it. They don't kill Ghanaians, Cameroonians, etc because those one are not Nigerians. I believe that secession will go a long way in curbing the northern feelings towards Non-northerners of Nigeria. Politics that drives tension between will be gone as each nation will be concerned with her issues.
Igbos are spread across Nigeria from north to west to south; there's no history of Igbos being attacked or killed by anyone in Nigeria except in the north. The threat of lagoon 'curse' by the oba was absolutely nonsense and inconsequential (an empty threat). The only place Igbos have suffered real threat to life is northern Nigeria. So going by your logic where you claim politics is the reason northerners attack Igbos, how come Igbos have never been attacked by anyone else?... Is politics in Nigeria only between north vs Igbos?...

A people who could run into the streets killing Igbos simply because of a cartoon in Denmark, how someone suddenly imagines the same people would automatically turn around and embrace Igbos when Biafra secedes (meanwhile these people are the strongest opposition to the said Biafran secession). I'm still at a loss of words at how any person could be this delusional and bizarrely naive.

Anyway you know what?.. assuming Biafra finally succeeds in seceding tomorrow, kindly carry your entire families and relocate to Kano. It would be interesting beholding how you would be embraced by Hausa-Fulanis in Kano since you would no longer be viewed as political competition. In fact, the Nigerian police in Kano and the Hisbah task force would be very warm and welcoming and nice to you.

after hearing a lot about ur people (I suppose u r igbo) I believe d loathing comes from a place of reason. D pride and carriage u comport urself with is indeed a strong reason to want u out of d north. Probably out of Nigeria to isreal ( as ur acclaimed origin). I am not hausa, not from d north either, but I've lived in d north, survived two major crises in kaduna, do u c me fighting to have my own country.. u people have never been a part of Nigeria. Because someone is proud, you then hate the person so much. While that may be taken as just human behaviour, you take your own hate to the point where at the slightest provocation (e.g. a cartoon drawn by a foreigner in a country 6000km away), you quickly run amok on the street and start slashing their throats (men, women, children). This is the sort of animalistic behaviour you actually approve of and term 'reasonable'?...

That is real, the mind set of Nigerian forces against Igbos will change, do you know that they have thousands of Igbo traders in Duoala and other parts Cameroon,Senegal and Coteivore,Ghana etc, when I was in Gambia there are about 60,000 Igbos living in the Gambia according to official list from the Nigerian embassy in Banjul, the biggest pharmacy chain store Stop-Step pharmacy is own by an Igbo man in the Gambia and more than 350,000 Igbos is living in senegal, the Igbos will not be seen as political competitors, most of the violence in the north are religious motivated fuel by politics, Igbos in the north will live under any law put in place by post Nigeria government,no objection again, sharia law 100% or any other law, Igbos are not mainly targeted by northerners in most riot but christians are killed and 99% of Igbos are christians. for every 10 Christians in the core north 6 maybe Igbos.
Wonderful wonderful!... Hausa-Fulani's would no longer harbour their animosity against Igbos because there wouldn't be any political contests any more; attitude of armed forces would change towards Igbos (and I suppose Igbo lives in the north would then be protected because they would be viewed as 'foreign investors' not political competitors... Wonderful!...

Is this reasoning as a result/part of what they teach on Radio-B or is this just your personal imagination at work?... I am truly astonished by this your wild imaginative abilities; you certainly dwell in a fantasy world which you have created for yourself.

3. If they have Biafra their citizenship will change and the killings will stopbecause they will no longer participate in the politics of Nigeria and the Nigeria will be very conscious to protect foreign investment to avoid diplomatic rows with Biafra, the security agencies will never tolerate attack on foreigners because that will have serious consequences on the economy.
You seriously believe the animosity and hunger for blood the northerners have against Igbos will miraculously change simply because the Igbos would then be tagged foreigners?... Or sorry, you strongly believe this very Nigerian Police Force or the Nigerian Army (which can't evven defend itself) would then suddenly devote miraculous energy and enthusiasm to protect Igbos living in the north because they would then be tagged 'foreign investors'?... Jeez! how do people even come up with these kind of fantasies? shocked

Questions which keep bugging my mind, why are many Igbos still living from year to year in the north?... especially in hostile environments like kano, northern kaduna etc?... It's no news that Hausas hate Igbos with a devilish passion and would gladly shed Igbo blood at the slightest provocation.

Second thing I cant understand is, for those citing the blood thirsty nature of northerners as the basis for the clamour for secession, how will merely changing the name of the SE geographic location to 'Biafra' stop the blood thirst of irate northerners against Igbos who have insisted on living in the north?... cos one thing I know for sure is that the Igbos living in the north arent doing so because the SE isn't economically viable; Igbos travel around the world for business because it is in the nature of Igbos to travel for business. So how is the secession supposed to help these Igbos up north?

Just read through all the ignorant/hypocritical responses on the frontpage. angry

I am a decent guy and once in a while, I go out to nightclubs to hangout with my friends. If a person meets me at the clubhouse, the person has certainly met a decent guy.

Likewise for girls, I know countless number of very decent girls who once in a while, decide to go for a girl's night out with their friends at a nightclub. It could even be for the celebration (e.g. birthday) of one of their friends. Oh yes, if a guy meets such a girl in a nightclub, he has met a decent girl, and meeting her in a nightclub doesnt take away any iota of decency from her.

PoliticsRe: Money From North Was Used To Develop Igbo, Yoruba Lands –ango Abdullahi by obailala(m): 7:37pm On Jun 09, 2017
themomentng:
The spokesperson of the Northern Elders Forum, NEF, Ango Abdullahi has alleged that resources from the North was used to develop other regions of Nigeria.
Abdullahi made the claim while berating people of the South for saying people of the North were cheating them in the area of resource control.
Speaking in Zaria on Friday, the NEF spokesperson said it was the money from the North that was used to construct Nigerian Railways, refineries and other facilities.
The former Vice Chancellor recalled that the tradition had remained during the colonial masters and nothing changed after they left the country.
He said, “These people always pretend that the North is cheating them, not minding the fact that Southern Nigeria was developed by resources from the North.
“Please, look for a book written by Adamu Fika, the Waziri of Fika on Nigeria’s budget before and after independence.
“Each year, up to the time Nigeria gained its independence, none of the two regions was able to provide for itself.
“I mean none of the Western and Eastern regions had the money to effectively run the affairs of its region until they got financial support from the Northern region.
“First oil exploration was conducted using money from groundnut pyramid, cotton, hide and skin among other cash crops from Northern Nigeria.
“However, these people tend to forget all these goodies provided by the North towards ensuring the unity and corporate existence of Nigeria.
“They always look down on us, feeling like Northerners are parasites in this country.”
And this is the sort of nonsense these few old educated northern elite keep feeding their teeming population of uneducated youths with; that money from groundnut and cotton was used to develop the south, so therefore they should have a lifetime free pass to be economically lazy while they continue to be proud parasites on resources from other regions.

Can someone please remind me when last groundnut produced any kobo of income for the country Nigeria?... Did I hear over 50 years ago?... And while their groundnut money was being used to develop the southern zones 50 years ago, can the old mallam please educate us on what the money from oil palm, rubber, cocoa, cashew etc was used for at the time?

Restructuring will.not change anything. You guys should stop lying to yourselves.

There is nothing happening now as per "social problems" that was not there during the era of regionalism. So forget your eldorado of restructuring. If you like restructure the country a billion times, it will not change anything.

- You cannot buy patriotism with restructuring.
- You cannot impose true patriotism on anyone.
- And without patriotism you will keep getting eroded by the same "social problems" forever.
- Nationalism is key to patriotism.

And a founding sage said that Nigeria is not a nation but a mere geographic expression. So what are you restructuring? So just allow every constituent to determine their national identity and build their PREFERED nation patriotically. Enough of that 100 year old nonsense.

And NO, the peoples of the world are becoming more nationalistic, not the other way round.
Every issue you stand to solve by splitting the country into 5 or more mushroom nations, those issues can be solved by regional autononous leadership.

You talk of nationalism and an automatic sense of patriotism being possible only when a new nation is formed; do you mean to tell me an Igbo corrupt Nigerian police officer for instance would suddenly/miraculously switch to 'patriotic saint mode' when he starts bearing Biafra Police Force insignia on his shoulders?... Do you mean to tell me you believe that policeman's problem is just the name of his country?... or probably he disregards patriotism today because he lives in a tribally non-homogenous society?

Restructuring is a far more practical, achievable and meaningful solution to the social problems we have. Splitting the country even at a time when other great countries are looking for ways to merge is totally a misplaced ill-thought ambition (which may never even be achievable).

Ok, take the NC out of the equation. Core North (NW+NE)= 140 Reps which is rougly 40% of the house of representatives.

SW/SE/SW/NC =60%

so even if the entire South and the NC voted for restructuring, they still would not get the 67% needed to pass the bill on restructuring. What it means is that that the 7% has to be found in the core North. Unless some of them agree, restructuring will not be possible. Now how will 7% of the core North be convinced to vote for restructuring that will mean not only loss of political control, but also the end of 'oil money'.
Let the southern zones speak with one voice first, and you wouldn't be here speculating or doubting what can happen if a people speak with one voice.

Even if the North central embraces restructuring, it will still not give the South enough votes to pass a bill on restructuring. Just the core North controls at least 50% of the votes. How will anyone convince any of them to support restructuring? They have nothing to gain and everything to lose by restructuring. As long as there is one drop of Oil in Southern Nigeria, the core North will not allow any form of restructuring and they have the voting bloc to ensure that.
I repeat it once again, the only making restructuring impossible is that foolishness and selfishness which has ensured the southern zones can never call for it with one voice. Just take a look at this thread and many others, the day the man in Abuja favours SW, they go dumb and the day the powers in Abuja favours the SE, they go dumb on restructuring. I repeat it that the day the southern zones call for a restructure, and clamour for it 'seriously' with a single voice, that is the day the hegemony of the core north will be destroyed.

By the way the core north doesn't control any 50% of any votes. Stop churning out these imaginary figures which have been used to deceive/discourage people for decades.

Core North (i.e. NE & NW) = 140 Reps; 39 Senators
Southern Zones (SE+SS+SW) = 169 Reps; 51 Senators
North-Central/Middle Belt = 51 Reps; 19 Senators

Like I said earlier, if and only if the southern zones are ready to be serious with restructuring by speaking with one voice, more than half of the North Central is ready to align with the south. I highlighted Benue, Kwara, Kogi and Plateau states; these middle-belt states would be more than happy to free themselves from Hausa-Fulani domination. So stop giving me that overused 50% imaginary statistics..

Face reality. For Nigeria to be restructured, there has to be constitutional change. The constitution can only be changed or ammended at the national assembly. With the core North controling over 50% of the votes at the national assembly, how are you going to get the 67% needed to get restructuring? Or you think the North are going to lend their votes to something that will weaken them politically and economically and politically such as restructuring?

That is why anyone who wants restructuring has to leave the control of the North. If you want 'one Nigeria', forget restructuring
The mistake you always make is lumping the entire north central together in your map of the north. The middle-belt may fall in the north geopolitically; but socially, they are sick and tired of being lumped together with the north and are certainly sick of the domination of the core north.

And you refuse to restructure the country when Gej was the president?
If there is anything which is true, it is the fact that all the zones in the south want restructuring. Only reason it hasn't been achieved is because the calls for restructuring have never been done with one voice or in unity.

2010 - 2015, the SE political block had a swell time under GEJ, hence the SE was quiet on restructuring while the SS and SW kept calling for it. TOday the tables have turned around, as soon as Buhari won elections, SE began shouting restructuring and outright secession while the SW has reduced its voice. Putting aside the needless hypocrisy and selfishness, there has never been a better time for the southern zones to unite and restructure the country than now.

Which the whole South? Didn't you see the SW attacking the poster because he called for restructuring. Let's divide this country
You cannot divide the country, stop dreaming. The more achievable target is restructuring. If half of the energies used to shout secession all over the place had been used to call for restructuring, if just a fraction of that energy was used to gather necessary stakeholders across interested zones to call for restructuring with one voice, it would have been achieved long ago. Once again, stop dreaming, splitting a country isn't child's play.
