At that age, they shud still be laying. So Why are u selling off? Pls post a picture of the entire farm here.

No vex ooo. We need to beware of scams and kidnapping. Remember that new style of kidnapping where intending buyers are lured to remote locations and kidnapped for ransome by the so called criminal "seller"

organicfoods:
Did you just say scam? You only know of my intent to improve and add quality to garri! You haven't seen the product or forced to buy it. Why is the rush for this baseless slander... or are you supporting a lazy comrade of yours who wants me to deliver neem oil of 2500 naira at his door step! Common they are very few invention left but many reinvention... You shouldn't call mine scam when you haven't seen it.

Let me educate you a bit... You obviously lack sound mind to make use of good information.
You rush out too early with your beef... It is either you are poorly educated or foolishly mischievous. I have been doing research on improving quality of food crops in Nigeria for years. One food lacking in quality is garri... If I am adding value and quality to it and selling at premium price is that a scam? Lazy bones like you do not do anything worth while than to pull people down.

Presently 95% of garri been sold in the village like you said consist of dirts and stones (you can prove me wrong)... I want to treat garri like powdered milk...My garri will be 100% free of dirts and stones...which arises from low quality of processing, I will be improving that, the Quality of my garri will easily be noticeable when you soak without finding dirts on it.

Use of herbicides and pesticides is prevalent in almost all the location I have visited so far. It may not be so in your area which I doubt.

The use of pesticides on cash crops like cocoa, Kola nuts in South West endangers other crops through contamination... I have seen a problem and I am equipped to solve it... Do you think it's just coincidence that Ghana and Togo export more foods crops than Nigeria... Pesticides and post harvest handling is one of the main problem..... Or may be you rush it. There are many people packaging garri and selling to people that cherish quality, Dbanj is one of them... If they are able to find quality in my product I will be happy to smile to the bank because I met their demand.

More than 70% of farmers now depend heavily on herbicides for their weeding... We will be getting cassava free from pesticides and herbicides. They are guidelines for organic compliance which we will employ and market with approval of NOAN.

You know nothing apart from being foolishly apprehensive of your own criminal thought which is not part of my own agenda.

Nigeria do not have food regulating agency that actively coordinate standards and quality of food stuff....please don't die of apprehension... You can still buy your low quality garri... Nobody is forcing you to buy mine... people like you don't need to spend senseless time on pull down activities...
maybe using the word "scam" was a bit harsh on my part. I apologise. But u don't need to get worked up and insultive about it.
But do u mean Dat selling a cleaner garri now means selling garri that is "organically" produced?
Do u really want to prove to d world that most consumed garri in nigeria comes from modern farms that use herbicides and pesticides? My guy, that is a fat lie.
Go ahead and make a difference with ur new "invention". Hope u read d part where I said I love ur way of thinking? But d least u can do is to tell ur prospective customers the truth. Afterall, there is still great benefit from supplying cleaner garri. But that is the only truth to ur story.
AgricultureRe: Organic Garri To Hit The Market Soon. by obstead200(m): 8:01am On Sep 04, 2015
organicfoods:
In a bid to get our organic Garri ready for the market, our research have shown that it will be extremely difficult to achieve in the first year in commercial quantity because of the following reasons.

1. PESTICIDES AND HERBICIDES
A lot of our farmers depended too much on these chemicals, only very few of them have inculcated organic process.

2. Pollution/Contamination
Many of the farmers complying with organic practices risked contamination from adjoining farms.

It has been a serious challenge. We however got our first batch for analysis. In our projection we will be launching the purest form garri available in Nigeria... No dirts, no stones... Watch out!
OP, I perfectly understand ur strategy. It is an age long marketing strategy of taking an ordinary everyday products, baptised it with a new name, exaggerate its qualities and downplay the qualities of its so called competitiors, and then sell it at a higher price. U are not the first person with this type of scam. GNLD, tianshi, forever living etc have been into the scam long before now.
Good job Sha. But like other pple pointed out, most garri comes from villages where farmers have not even heard about herbicides and pesticides. So what da hell is thy point?

PoliticsRe: President Buhari Arrives In Kaduna State Today (Photos) by obstead200(m): 9:20pm On Sep 03, 2015
ToyozzieTohBad:
This is one of the most sensible comments I've read in a
while, as regards to President Buhari's nominations.
All these selfish, stupid and aggrieved Yoruba/Igbo people
should just go and sit somewhere.

Ndigbo's that are killing themselves about the appointments made so far by President Buhari are just funny. Aside the fact that we Igbos shouldn’t expect sensitive appointments from him because many of us hate him without any justifiable reason and no smart politician will give such positions to his ‘enemies’,
what did all our brothers that occupied sensitive positions
recently achieved for our geopolitical zone? Recall that Igbos
recently occupied head positions in Central Bank and
Ministry of Finance. Also, an Igbo was recently appointed
Secretary to Government of the federation, Minister of
power, Minister of Solid Minerals, Head of Due Process unit,
Minister of Education, Minister of Aviation, Executive
Director of Nigerian Communications Commission, Chief of
Army Staff, Inspector General of Police, Senate President,
Deputy Senate President and Deputy speaker of house of
Representatives. Also recently, an Igbo was appointed the
Director General of National Broadcasting Commission. The
question is what did all those Igbo appointees achieved for
Ndi Igbo? Even Goodluck Jonathan that you foolishly
accepted as your brother during his days in Aso Rock
achieved nothing for you when he was the President.

If appointments can dictate how a region should develop,
Southeast would have been a paradise by now because our
brothers occupied almost all the sensitive positions recently.
Another thing Igbos should understand is that the federal
character principle they are quoting as their basis of
argument is the greatest enemy of Nigeria especially Igbos.
This principle champions the promotion of tribal mindsets
instead of meritocracy in Nigeria as Nigerians are always
after the state of origin of every federal appointee and
prospective candidates for admissions instead of their
performance. It is because of same federal character that a
provision was made for ‘Education less developed’ states
which always make it possible for indigenes of those states
to be giving more and cheaper consideration during
admissions and recruitment in order to promote equity in
line with the federal character. This is Rubbish! Such has
caused situations whereby somebody from Anambra or Imo
will score average of about 260 in JAMB UTME and POST-
UTME but will be denied admission while somebody from
states like Zamfara, Ebonyi or Bayelsa will score average of
about180 and will be admitted in order to achieve the so
called equity in intellectual distribution among all the states
in line with same federal character. Same federal character
is the reason why instead of criticising the performance
ability of appointees, Nigerians especially Igbos will only be
interested in their states of origin.

Federal character is evil.
This is the hour of change and it must be jettisoned! If
Nigeria must progress, we must do away with federal
character and state of origin provisions and encourage
meritocracy and state of residence. I don’t care where
appointees come from, all I want is excellent performance.
If the wailing Igbos like they should continue hating Buhari
while the Niger-Deltans are busy consolidating their region
and supporting his government. At last Igbos will remain the
wailing loosers. It baffles me the way some of my Igbo
brothers are hating Buhari without any justifiable reason.
Even the Niger-Deltans that are more closer to the failed
government of Goodluck Jonathan always acknowledge that
he betrayed them, but the Igbos that are not in any way
brothers to the failed President are killing themselves and
even their conscience with baseless sentiments. Also, I have
expected these misguided Igbos to understand that the
Niger-Deltans who they foolishly took as their brothers
during the elections are not at any point with them. These
Niger-Deltans have understood that they can't make any
political achievement in Nigeria without the cooperation of
other tribes, and wisely began to issue their supports and
cooperation to the Buhari led government while the
misguided Igbos are still enslaving themselves with baseless
sentiments. Believe it or not, political appointments are
catalysed by intelligent lobbying and not unnecessary
hatred. No smart politician will appoint his haters to
sensitive positions.

I will never blame Buhari if he fails to appoint any Igbo to key positions. I am proud of Niger- Deltans and they are already reaping the fruits of their wisdom. Igbos should have a rethink!

I really can't blame u the OP or even the original writer of this bulls.hit. The igbo nation cannot be complete without an army of ars.e lickers, sycophants and saboteurs playing discordant tunes at the side. So I am not surprised at the grand stupidity. Pple like u only serve to complete the igbo nation. But u know what?, ur sabotage will never change the truth;- there is no real justification for the present marginalization of the SE in PMB government. GEJ was careful to place a good number of northerners in strategic positions and any person with a single atom of truth in his anatomy will attest to this.
[/size]

NB: I am not a politician neither do I seek political appointment. But I am concerned with sustaining the unity of Nigeria and the actions of PMB, if not corrected, will light d necessary fires for total mayhem in the near future. The British colonialists left us with a Nigeria we do not really want. But the deed is done. We shud be seeking for ways to bury our ethnic differences and unite all Nigerians for a common and sustainable development.
Apparently dis is not a priority to PMB

Am a banker, business man and an Agric Investor so I'd quickly let you know from my depth of experience.
1. Nigerian Banks have short loan appetite and unwilling to do long term loans, they prefer short loans that would assist them in declaring whooping profits yearly.
2. Most Nigerians are not financially honest, when packaging loans, 9 out of 10 would get diverted to somewhere else.
3. The cost of Production is very high due to cost of power generation, the cost of diesel is good enough to be declared as profit.
4. The loan was wrongly taken as that loan should have been routed through BOI and BOA, they are the ones built for such long term loans, so the loan has gone delinquent even before it was disbursed, hence the reason Skye was more than willing to offload very quickly.

To go into businesses most especially in large scale you need not only a financial advisor but a very sound banker by your side.. . Always.
I partially agree with u.

But as a finance expert and a seasoned accountant, I will always fault the decision of corporations to finance long term expansion projects with debt capital, especially when other options like IPOs and private placements are readily available.

I am not saying that borrowing is wrong. But in a highly volatile operating environment like naija, it is always safer to finance expansion using lower risk (to the company) sources of fund like equity.

It would have been better to finance their working capital using debt.

Companies whose statement of financial position portrays long term gearing are not always favorably considered

FamilyRe: If Only Parents Can Heed To This Advice!!! by obstead200(m): 12:16am On Sep 01, 2015
yaskarahyelhope:
LETTER TO NIGERIAN PARENTS (PART 1)

Dear All- Let's be real.

I wish to start by adding the benefit of my time as a student and then resident in the UK. Living in Abuja now. The first thing that I discovered about UK-born, white, English undergraduates was that all of them did holiday or weekend job to support themselves – including the children of millionaires amongst them. It is the norm over there – regardless of how wealthy their parents are. And I soon discovered that virtually all other foreign students did the same – except status – conscious Nigerians.

I also watched Richard Branson (owner of Virgin Airline) speaking on the Biography Channel. To my amazement, he said that his young children travel in the economy class – even when the parents (he and his wife) are in upper class. Richard Branson is a billionaire in Pound sterling. A quick survey would show you that only children from Nigeria fly business or upper class to commence their studies in the UK. No other foreign students do this. There is no aircraft attached to the office of the Prime Minister in the UK. He travels on BA. And the same goes for the Royals. The Queen does not have an aircraft for her exclusive use.

These practices simply become the culture which the next generation carries forward. Have you seen the car that Kate Middleton (the wife of Prince William) drives? VW Golf or something close to it. But there’s one core difference between them and us (generally speaking), they (even the billionaires among them) work for their money, most of us steal ours

If we want our children to bring about the desired change we have been praying for on behalf of our dear country, then please, please let’s begin now and teach them to work hard so they can stand alone and most importantly be content and not having to “steal” which seems to be the norm these days.

We have Nigerian Children who have never worked for 5 minutes in their lives insisting on flying “only” first or business class and using the latest cars fully paid for by their “loving“ parents.

I often get calls from anxious parents” my son graduated 2 years ago and is still looking for a job, can you please assist!”

“Oh really! So where exactly is “THIS CHILD?” is my usual question. “Why are you the one making this call dad/mum?"

I am yet to get a satisfactory answer, but between you and i, chances are that the big boy is cruising around Abuja with a babe dressed to the nines, in his dad’s sparkling new SUV with enough “pocket money” to put your salary to shame. It is not at all strange to hear a 28 year old who has NEVER worked for a day in his or her life in Nigeria but “earns” a six figure “salary” from parents for doing absolutely nothing.

I see them in my office once in a while, 26 years old with absolutely no skill to sell apart from a shiny CV, written by his dad’s secretary in the office. Of course, he has a driver at his beck and call and he is driven to the job interview. We have a fairly decent conversation and we get to the inevitable question- so, what salary are you looking to earn? Answer comes straight out – N250,000.00. I ask if that is per month or per annum.

“Of course, it is per month”

“Oh, why do you think you should be earning that much on your first job?”

“Well, because my current pocket money is N200,000.00 and I feel any employer should be able to pay me more than my parents.”

No wonder corruption continues to thrive. We have a society of young people who have been brought up to expect something for nothing, as if it were a birthright. Even though the examples I have given above are from parents of considerable affluence, similar patterns can be observed from Abeokuta to Adamawa.

Wake up mum! Wake up dad! This syndrome – “my children will not suffer what I suffered" is destroying your tomorrow. You are practically loving your child to death.

I learnt the children of a former Nigeria Head of State with all the stolen (billions) monies in their custody, still go about with security escort as wrecks. They are on drugs, several time because of the drug, they collapse in public places. The escort will quickly pack them and off they go. What a life! No one wants to marry them.

Henry Ford said “hard work does not kill.” We are getting everything wrong in Nigeria now, including family setting. It is time to prepare your children for tomorrow, the way the world is going, only those that are rugged, hard working and smart working that will survive. How will your ward fare?

Please forward this to all the parents you know and love. We must begin to save our young children from unintended consequences of "too much love" and weak parenting. It is the only way we can build a strong and decent Nigeria.
I had to quote ur long post in replying cos I need to often look at it and pick specific points to address.
Nice write up by the way. But I strongly feel that ur write up is full of generalisations and over simplification of basic issues. However some of the points u raised are valid and true so I will skip emphasis on those. Lemme just address ur wrong notions.
There are also white kids who do no holiday jobs and live very reckless lives like their naija counterparts.
Do not also forget that in UK, dia are strong and growing limitations which prevent students of non EU origin from undertaking any kind of work while studying.

Do not judge a parent wrongly for undertaking to solicit for a Job on behalf of the child. Also u shud not quickly conclude that such a child is unable to seek for a Job on his/her personal merit. Am sure that sometime or the other in ur career growth, someone, even if it is not ur parent, had to speak on ur behalf to get u a foot in d door. It is a common occurrence the world over.

I am also reluctant to judge pple based on the way they chose to spend their money or based on the arrangement of their value system. Ur research is really poor if the only role model of prudence and frugality u can site is princess Kate. For heaven's sake, that useless royal couple spoil our children over and again with the kind of fantasy the media especially the tv media showcase to the public concerning their "fabulous royal life" and the couple make so much money in doing this. Why the hell would u want to make an example using the hypocritical golf car driven by the lady? What about the limo and the fabulous trips and the royal castles and designer clothing they live on?

I was not born with a silver spoon and my parent taught me the virtue of hard work and perseverance. By God special Grace I am a man of my own today and earn a a modest living. But one lesson I learnt early in life is never to generalise based on very narrow information.

Thanks.
