Igbos are indigenous to Rivers state, Obigbo, Etche, Ndoni, Opobo even Ikwere although they are denying it but they have no ancestral language except the Igbo they speak.

So the Hausa woman in Enugu that was speaking Igbo is now an Igbo woman.

Or Tiv man from Benue, Igala or Okun man from Kogi and Berom man Platuea that speaks Hausa are they Hausa.

There is a difference between a learned language and a mother tongue. Tiv, Berom, Igala, Okun etc all have their unique mother tongue languages but learn Hausa for easy communication with other tribes in the middle belt. Ikwere have no mother tongue except Igbo which they speak and derive their names from. They claim to be from Bini but there is no single Bini language in their mother tongue, that is the contention.

Why is it that Ijaw, Ibibio, Oron, Efik etc despite their proximity and intermarriage with Igbos retained their language while only Ikwere lost their entire ancestral heritage language 100% to Igbo language.

The problem is the division that other Nigerians have caused in SS, if SE governors, Ohaneze etc say anything about happening in Rivers state, some Yorubas,Hausa-fulanis and other tribes in SS will take it out of proportion and start accusing Igbos of trying to control SS. They may incite other tribes in Rivers state to fight Igbos in the state.

So because of this reality people are being cautious. The hate is too much.
