There are videos online about people queuing up to withdraw from First Republic Bank in California. $FRC.

Fed and US govt needs to make statement today before Asian markets open and before EU open. Otherwise the problem will be global and unstoppable. The unrealised losses these western banks are holding is enormous.

Since you are going DC, which I am glad you are doing, buy the battery you can afford to get started. If you can also design it in such a way that some of the bulbs get triggered when the birds move, I believe that will help conserve some power.

Another option is to break it into 2 circuits, that is to have 2 independent systems just to share the failure rate across the 2.

Thank you for your response. Then if I am to add yet another 80 watt panel, what spec of battery will be suitable for me?

Ah okay, I think it was a combination of the charger and the Gen that spoilt your device. The generator AVR probably didn't react quick enough to the charger being plug and probably caused a fluctuation in power output which your highly sensitive sound system couldn't accommodate.

I can almost swear that if you were on PHCN or inverter when you plugged that charger, this sad event would not have happened. A dedicated UPS to sensitive equipment also helps to handle situations like this.

FEGEITOK:
Left channel is on its own. Right channel is on its own. Right channel power transistors died. If I remember correctly even a diode died. Those things aren't in Nigeria. I had to import replacements.

Left channel was still working.

But I wanted my equipment whole.

I was running off a generator at the time.

It was one of those poorly made mass market Chinese phone chargers.

If I disconnected the power supply to the right channel, the left would work.
Satellite TV Technology › Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by ojesymsym: 1:36pm On Jan 20, 2023
Village people just use this neighbor. Bad charger with a faulty component most likely but why not just bring out smoke rather than destroy something else? Strange

As to your final question, I leave that for my opponents to answer.
FEGEITOK:
No contest.

However ever since one bad experience I am extremely worried about connecting poor quality equipment to my electrical circuits.

I was enjoying listening to music on my high end audio amplifier worth thousands of dollars. I was the only one who had power. My neighbor knocked and begged me to help charge her phone. The moment I connected that phone charger to the same outlet as my amplifier, my amplifier went bad. A post mortem indicated that one of the channels died.

Since then I am worried about the quality of the equipment connected to my outlets.

So while RCCBs protect against shock, I imagined all the worst things that can happen if I bought a fake RCCB.

That was why I had to be personally involved in buying the RCCB.

Might have been a coincidence but until then why didn't the amplifier fail?

The bolded is what I was also suggesting, just didn't want to mention a specific brand.

Industrial stabs also are able to help in these regards.

GloriousGbola:
most premium devices can withstand fluctuating voltages. however a voltage leakage usually means that there will be voltage across your neutral. this means you may find that instead of 230v, you can have 300v or more between your live and neutral.

and that will blow your equipment. when you have a voltage leakage, usually because of a live supply coming in contact with a neutral or earth wire, the rccb / elcb trips.

i ave no faith in most of the stabilizers sold here. they are mostly only for 5-10% voltage fluctuation. if you really want a stabilizer, get a a PRAG and connect across your mains

the other thing you do to protet your electronics is a lighnting arrester - but that should be as far from your main building as possible as it can induce surges while delivering the current to ground. also for me, it should be completely seperate from the rest f your earthing as any fault can lead to the current traveling back into your system

Satellite TV Technology › Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by ojesymsym:
I believe that the RCCB or even the ELCB are more of safety devices than protection of your equipment.

I believe if your electronics are also of great concern with respect to over-voltage and fluctuating voltages we sometimes from the utility, you may want to be looking at home industrial stabilizers, connected across the means instead.

FEGEITOK:
Barely 30 minutes ago I decommissioned the ECLB and commissioned the RCCB into service.

Took me this long because I wanted to be absolutely sure what I was buying.

I didn't delegate this task.

My electronics are too expensive to play with.

I will detail the process subsequently.

Suffice it to say, be absolutely sure what you want to buy before you go shopping so the market doesn't sway you.

Yeah... It is looking like it is not a good idea from a few of my research.

Most online comments seem to suggest that refrigerators use Capacitor induction motors and that it is set up to require very high torque at start up to compress and push the gas into the system, which a soft start will not allow it to do.
Juror:
Ok... I don't know if you can soft start.
Satellite TV Technology › Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by ojesymsym: 8:35am On Dec 05, 2022
My daytime inverter, the one with a low capacity battery but with solar panel is not able to take that start up current. It looks like it is the battery that it takes the startup current from and not from the panel. So, it seems only 2 options are available to me... find a way to reduce that start up current with a soft starter or replace batteries.
Juror:
are you sure the problem is the starter?

Heed the advice of those guys telling you to go and remove that mesh, they are telling you the truth.

The way it damages your engine is that, after a while those meshes become bad and start blocking your exhaust, which ultimately kills your engine and over time the replace engine until that mesh is removed.

Hope you understand now?

I've gone through it...

I've been using this car like this since July, and have not had any issues with the engine. I've travelled to at least four different states with the car since then and back within two days.

But with the responses I saw in the link, I'll reconsider it.

He has even travelled to more states than me after he did his.

Investment › Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by ojesymsym:
So easy to say when you analyze it this way. But you forget the hypothetical pure water in question (as used in this context) is not something we produce or can produce enough locally.
Instead think of it like this.

1. Purewater is not produced in Nigeria, so we have no control over its cost. (dollar, ditto for imported products)

2. Purewater is needed to tend to the sick, drink as normal source of water and to water flowers.

3. The number of purewater entering the country begins to reduce or the demands begins to increase so that we cannot catch up, so what do you do?
You begin to pririotize because the factors of producing this pure water used in this scenario are out of your control. So, you remove those who use the pure water to water flowers away from those you will supply essential pure water to and try to focus on the sick and for normal use.
But the people who still want to use it for watering their flowers do not want to back down. They keep searching for that scarce pure water. Then a blackmarket opens to fill up that demand. So, rather than the black market find other ways to get pure water, they try so hard to deprive the sick people and normal water usage of pure water to satisfy the needs of those want to use that pure water to keep watering their flowers.

That is where I think we are today.
QuinModah:
Kalu Aja
@FinPlanKaluAja1
Let's assume Pure Water is sold for N20 a bag.

Then FGN says it must be sold for N5, what happens .

1. Purewater at N5 will vanish from all stores.
2. A black market will develop for pure water at N50. Why N50? It was N20 b4. Well supply has dropped, so prices rise

How do you eliminate a black market?

3. You allow incrrased supply.

If more folks start selling pure water, the price falls, from N50 to say N30.

To make if fall below N20, you completely open the market and reduce cost of making a bag of pure water e.g., Power cost

You "kill" a black market not by looking for people illegally selling pure water at N50 but by creating conditions to allow more producers to supply more pure water to the market, so price falls to N10.

Supply is increased by productivity gains not chasing "illegal" markets
