Bottomline, all man should choose this day on what side you are, investor, trader or hybrid. Whatever side you decide to join, learn the ropes and use calls to trigger your own DD rather than blindly follow. However, I believe even when you follow blindly, you should have your own entry and exit points. There are some of us who follow OGP, mrcy, ogaemma, cstomstreet, osidinma or CP etc blindly, but we still de try open one eye de look left, right then left again to be sure we are not crushed. On a lighter note, I believe this year has been favorable to jijoist and hybrids. Locotrader: Thank God I made myself clear via my new moniker as a trader "Locotrader". I did this so that my username will judge anyone who tries to condemn any action I take.A trader may value a stock at #20 naira and decide to exit at #15.He prays for a pullback to re-enter same stock again and ride it simultaneously till the price is actualized.
In this context,I didn't see where to blame Peter because I have known him as a trader for a long time now.
My advice is anyone who wants to invest should do so in a dividend paying stocks and avoid non dividend paying stocks which are being hijacked by traders to avoid this type of blame.
Know a trader by their actions and know peace.
Investors are patient people. They don't hype stocks. They don't create liquidity in a stock. They rely on dividends and also average down when they see a pullback. |

Chief madam... I do not think you were among those that promoted Oando, so none of those post in my opinion are directed at you at all. So there is not need to go defensive when they are not even referring to you. The 2 major O n O promoters have monikers that start with P, let them get their heat themselves, you are not their lawyer. So keep on the good works you do here, for which the majority of us are grateful. Even on the rare occasion when you make wrong call sef, we still trust your judgement. yMcy56: Is that enough reasons to be laughing those inside?
I've said something here before, that many don't read or read past pages, they'll just go ahead with whatever they feel is okay for them, some will invest based on what they met on ground when they opened the thread.
Either we like it or not, those that are buying are still buying and will still be buying in market. Those that staked billions on it are not aliens.
I'm just not comfortable with the confusion people are causing here especially for newbies........and to say that those postings about Oando are simply after their selfish interests. Wonder what you're going to gain if they lose funds!
I was just watching how they were posting about Access too, just because Access declared 30k, now looks like heaven wants to fall
With all your shoutings of "I told you so", one would have thought the offers in Oando will reach the sky self. |

This table you are shaking... Instead of using parable, just call us by our name abeg. Deadlytruth: THE STORY OF THE WILD GOOSE HUNTER AND THE LESSON IT TEACHES ON HOW AND WHEN TO TAKE PROFIT IN STOCKS TRADING
The hunter in question made a trap to hunt wild geese and took it to a spot in the bush where he set it and poured some grains inside. The trap was designed in such a way that the hunter could, from where he was hiding a very long distance away, close it by merely pulling a rope attached to the lid of the trap. After setting it and hiding himself behind a bush far away, he sighted ten wild geese (his targeted exit price in this scenario). The first goose entered to help itself with some of the grains. The second one followed and it continued like that till the ninth goose. However, for no phantomable reason, the tenth goose just didn't enter. The hunter didn't pull the rope but decided to wait patiently till it would finally enter not minding the fact that what kept the other nine inside was the grains hence they must start going out once they finished eating it. While the waited in his unrealistic hope, one of the nine geese inside the trap walked out leaving eight inside. At this point the hunter regretted a little and readjusted his target to nine geese with the hope that he would pull the rope once the one that just walked out wandered back in. But while he waited again, another one walked out. The man kept on re-adjusting his target downwards until all of them walked out except just one. It was at that point it dawned on the hunter and he pulled the rope catching only one goose. Trading lesson of the story: Take your profit immediately price begins to fall. |

I think the point that gentleman is making is that all of these buyout that is claimed to be coming from minority shareholder is actually orchestrated by Wale himself but making it look like it is coming from a set of minority shareholders. I do not think he is contending the rule as per CAMA. If I understand what he was saying, he is saying that the so-called court case against Oando is done by the same people who are the defendants to hoodwink the public. mikeapollo: Please try and understand the rules when shareholders ask for a buyout. The rule/law per CAMA and SEC says that the highest price of the share on the NSE in the last 6 months before the court case will be used as the offer price if shareholders ask for a buyout. That is the reason why Oando offered N7.07 which is a little higher than the highest price on the NSE in the 6 months before the court case started. |

Guys, for those who can attend the annual Nigeria Energy Conference is starting today at Landmark Hotel, VI Lagos. It is usually an opportunity to meet directly with suppliers, learn what the new trends in technology are, meet international suppliers who also come to the conference yearly, and also know the direction of government policy with regard to renewable energy.
I could have posted the link to access it but I am not in any mood for one BOT to disrespectfully ban me, so I suggest you google "Nigeria Energy Conference" and preregister to attend if it is something that ticks your fancy.
Those who attend can also share with us whatever new innovations are in the pipeline so that we can as solar enthusiasts position ourselves to be at the forefront of implementation. |

Squid actually still makes top 3 of top 10 best Cache and Proxy Servers till date. However, caching also has some drawbacks. Caching can introduce inconsistency, as the cached data may not reflect the latest changes or updates on the server. Caching can also introduce complexity, as the web application needs to manage the cache expiration, validation, and invalidation policies. One of the reasons that has slowed down the use of Cache servers in a today's internet surfing is the dynamism of data update. With the exponential rise in the use of Social Media Updates, Ads, ChatGPT, SSL enforcement, etc, it has become so important for a web server to serve current or most recent data rather than a stale data.
That being said, NGINX is one of most popular open source reverse proxy servers for Linux. It's lightweight, fast, and offers a range of features such as load balancing, HTTP caching, SSL/TLS encryption, and more. NGINX is widely used by web developers and is particularly useful for serving static content, handling SSL certificates, and serving as a reverse proxy for HTTP/HTTPS traffic. NGINX is fast and scalable, making it ideal for high-traffic websites. It's also easy to configure and has excellent documentation. The only negative thing about NGINX is that it does not offer a built-in GUI interface, which may make it difficult for some users to manage.
There exist several other Cache and Proxy Servers eg:, Apache HTTP Server, HAProxy, Varnish, Traefik, Pound, Caddy, Privoxy, SwiperProxy, Tinyproxy, Skipper, Varnish Cache, Nuster, Polipo, etc.
Whichever choice you make from the list above, There are some options that you must consider a must have for your Cache Server which includes but not limited to:
Purge cache: this allows you to refresh cached files. Some providers only allow entire cache storage refreshing. Some CDN providers also limit the number of purges allowed over a predetermined period. The effectiveness of a purging request is determined by the time it takes to propagate through a network.
Never/always cache: this control allows you to manually override cache headers and tagging files that are always served from cache or those that have never been served. This control is useful in cache management, especially when used with bulk management options that allow the applications of these directives to file groups e.g., all JPG files in images/templates/folder.
Period cache: this is a refinement of the always cache control. It allows you to create a specified period when the object is to be served from the cache before refreshing. Cache for period can be accessed from the CDN GUI for easy management of specific files. This is a useful option when used for bulk file management, e.g., all JS files cached for at least five days. and the list goes on.
In conclusion, choosing right cache and proxy server for your environment depends on your specific needs and requirements. All of servers listed above offer unique features and capabilities that can be tailored to meet your specific needs. Whether you're looking for a lightweight server for a small website or a high-performance server for a large web application, there is always an open-source cache and reverse proxy server for Linux or other environments that will meet your needs. |

If you feel the price is really good, then I suggest you buy it first and ask questions later. The panels will be useful to you one way or the other. One way you can deploy it is to buy another charge controller that can work with this new solar panel. My thoughts. Cutezt: Hello house, good evening.
So I have a setup of 3 pieces of 250w panels on a 1.5kva inverter and 2 batteries, but it doesn't charge fast enough with the panels, I figured that it needed more panels and someone is offering me a brand new 520 wats panel at a good price, however, I refused buying cos I read that joining panels of different wattage together is not a good idea, however, I went ahead to ask my installer if the panels can work together and to my shock, he says they will work fine. I am sceptical about it and don't trust his judgment on this one, so I decided to ask the professionals in the house, what are the pros and cons of joining panels of different wattage with such wide margin?

Is this he who has been anticipated all these while or is he another? robobo: really i dont understand how anyone that is holding this stock would sell it for less than 25 (half PBV)
Although it might look like the current performance would not be sustainable given that the major component ( revaluation) is one off but i beg to differ.
On a back of the envelope basis, my take is that UBA EPS going forward would sustain the upward of N8 per share going forward even without revaluation. The revaluation alone add over N800b to the bank asset which if invested in TB at average of 13% is over N100bn profit per year (without any cost) to the bank bottom line i.e. about 3.50 per share which if added to the normalised EPS (before revaluation) of about 4.5 per share would give about N8 per share going forward even without revaluation. Please note that this view goes beyond 2023 to as much as 3-4 years ahead (bar any major mishap from the management)
if 35% of the N8 per share is paid as dividend one would expect a dividend of at least N2.50 (both interim and final) which at N25 per share is a yield of at least 10%.
so i dont understand how any one would want to sell below N25, but to each mallam his kettle.

We treated this issue around 2020. Seems just like yesterday. One of the major takeaways from that discussion is this quote below. I had to go and search for it. You can use it to check how the discussion at that time went. I have bolded what I believe is the answer to your question. Of how a Nigerian reluctantly had to start employing foreigners to take up positions in Nigeria because of our bad character as Donbrig has also correctly stated. ultron12345: I can relate very well with your second paragraph.
I run a manufacturing business and a trading business. The biggest challenge in my manufacturing business is not power, or infrastructure, the biggest challenge is getting honest staff. Everyone we hire is appears to be on a mission to steal as much as possible. Inflated invoices, recording less than the actual number of units produced. The worst part of it all is that all the fraud we've uncovered is not done by a single person, it's usually many staff who collude with each other, from production, to sales, to finance, even top management. There was a year I overhauled management 3 times in a year. But I've found a solution sha, I now use Indian management. So competent, so honest and so straightforward. I thought they were expensive at first with all the visa fees, accommodation, house staff, but now that losses due to staff theft have been reduced to a minimum, and efficiency increased, the Indian management has turned out to be cheaper than the previous Nigerian management. Now, all sensitive positions involving money go to Indians. Nigerians are only allowed in non-sensitive positions. I used to criticize companies like Dangote Group that hire so many Indians when there are many unemployed Nigerians, but now, I understand their decision.
My biggest challenge in the trading business is the same, getting honest staff. The form of trading occurs in the open market, and involves staff having access to huge sums of money running into a few millions. I know how much I pay to security companies to provide escorts for the staff, not to prevent robbery, but to ensure that the staff go straight to the bank to deposit the money after the day's sales and not disappear with my money. This money spent on security companies is even enough to be declared as profit. We have to spend on CCTV, biometric scanners and other things that wouldn't not be needed if staff weren't looking for the slightest opportunity to steal.
It got so bad at a point that my main criteria for employing staff was no longer conpaetency but honesty. At least, competency and skills can be learnt, but once you're dishonest, you're dishonest.
We always complain of the economy and how they are no jobs. I know people abroad who would have loved to set up job creating businesses in Nigeria but they can't because they can't get any trustworthy person to run it.
I know people in Nigeria with so much money, they want to start factories and other job-creating businesses but they can't because they are occupied elsewhere and can't get any trustworthy person to run the business. So instead of investing in the real sector and creating jobs, they'll just buy treasury bills, while the thieves are shouting no jobs.
Many big businesses would have been born in Nigeria if we could engage in partnerships, but we cant because you can't trust anyone. This is one advantage the Indians and Lebanese have over us in Nigeria. They can pull resources together and do mega-business, unlike Nigerians that because only one person must do everything since we can't partner, end up with small, tiny businesses.
Start a poultry and they will be stealing your eggs. Some will even go ahead to be killing the chickens so that they'll be allowed to take them home.
Start an entertainment/viewing/game center and they'll be pocketing your money. On the days you're around at the business, the money realized will be x10 of the money realized when you're not around. Because they're eating your money.
Lease out a vehicle to a driver to use and watch as he'll finish you.
Start a restaurant, the same thing will happen. More than half of the total food ingredients will end up in their personal kitchens.
Even ordinary provisions shop, they will find a way to steal.
You'll see them with that their evil, wicked saying "na where person dey work, na there e dey chop, na e make dem dey callam workchop/workshop"...... Just imagine, justifying theft at work.
And you'll see these people point their crooked fingers at politicians when they're not any different. I usually say the reason most Nigerians haven't stolen billions of government money, is simply lack of opportunity.
Nigerians are the problem of Nigeria. Hamachi: I noticed a consistent behavioural pattern among Nigerian billionaires who run big businesses.
This behaviour is pronounced more among Mike Adenuga of Glo Brand and Aliko Dangote.
The behaviour is this: these business owners hardly hire Nigerians as business executives to run their businesses.
They prefer to travel as far as Pakistan, India, or Lebanon to hire their nationals to come to Nigeria to run their business.
Dangote's top executives are mainly from India and then Lebanese, while Mike prefers hiring Pakistan nationals to run Glo for him with his daughter Bella.
Dangote started hiring Indians business executives when he was a trader and since he transitioned into an industrialist, he has not looked back as he has doubled down in hiring them.
Hiring these guys comes at a steep price.
Most Dangote Group executives are Lebanese or Indian, and their annual salaries are up to 300 million naira per annum when converted to our local currency.
Aside from the high cost that they charge as salaries, you provide a duplex accommodation in Ikoyi or Banana Island with an SUV for them.
You also provide Hilux vehicle with policemen protecting them against kidnappers since they are endangered specie because of their white complexion.
Devakumar V. G. Edwin is one of Dangote's trusted lieutenants, as Aliko does not joke with him.
He has been with him since 1992, when he joined the business as a general manager.
At that time, Dangote was still a mega importer and a trader.
Edwin helped to transition the Dangote group into the industrial behomth that it is today from a trading company.
He is the one supervising the refinary project in Lekki for Dangote as Dangote trusted him so much, having supervised the building of the cement plants for the group all over Africa.
When you convert what Devakumar V. G. Edwin earns into Naira because he is paid in dollars by the Dangote group, the man earns more than 350 million naira salary per year.
Just like the rest of Dangote's top executives, he is an Indian national, and it is the same story across the whole gamut of Dangote's executives. .
The CEO Of Dangote sugar, RAVINDRA SINGH is an Indian national.
The same with the CEO of Dangote Cement.
Now I want to understand:
Why, despite the high cost of hiring them, are these Forbes billionaires more comfortable hiring Pakistanis, Indians, or Lebanese than Nigerians to manage their businesses in Nigeria?
Are they more ruthlessly efficient than their Nigerian business executives?
Is there any reason why this is so? |

There used to be some methods achieved with Squid back in the day. The idea was for a local server to locally cache regularly access info on the internet so that when accessed once, all other requests for that info will first check if it is available locally before going to access it online. Is there a better way to achieve this nowadays? jonescosmos: You might want to put up some restrictions on your network.
In my office I used Mikrotik RB1100AHx4 to secure my Network. Using Layer7 Regexp and firewall to block so many things like Windows and Office Updates so they get it from the File Server, Blocking downloads by size and file types, Blocking bittorrents, Blocking Social Media and Streaming services (for some users), etc. Used Adguard DNS for block explicit contents (porn), adverts, malwares, etc. Used ARP=reply-only on your Local Network Interface to make sure that VPN and manual IP or DNS users can't use your network, except they use the IP and DNS that your Gateway allocates to them via DHCP, any attempt to alter or use a manual IP or VPN knocks them out of your Network, etc. You can always have a list of IPs that are exempted from these restrictions though.

Wow... So just buying small shares like that can have a lot of impact in future o. Even though some of those companies may have actually died the ones that survived were more than enough to make up for those ones.. Deadlytruth: I completely share this view based on my own personal experience and the true life story told to me by the stockbroker who introduced me to the Nigerian Stock Exchange in 2003. According to him, there was this secondary school classmate and friend of his whose father was working with Nigeria Railway Corporation and was posted to Kaduna Station while himself and his friend (the man's son) schooled in their home town all in the Sixties or so. Many years after he and his friend graduated from secondary school and got separated by search for tertiary education in different parts of the country, the father of his friend got retired from Nigerian Railway Corporation and news began to reach him, who had then graduated from the Institute of Stockbrokers, that his friend's father came home with very many awards certificates he won for diligence, dedication to duty, and honesty while in the service. The news so much spread at home that he was compelled to travel home for a first hand knowledge of what exactly those certificates were about. On arrival home and paying a visit to his friend's father, the old man welcomed him with a drink and immediately told the story of the countless awards he won as NRC staff, some of which he had put in photographic frames and hung all over the four walls of his sitting room as decorations of prestige. On examining these awards he discovered they were all certificates of shares periodically bought for all NRC staff by the management of NRC through regular deductions from their salaries as a policy back then. On closer examination he realized that most of those certificates were for shares of the likes of Guinness, Total and other today blue chips while they sold for between N1 and N3 hence had become worth millions at the man's retirement but financial ignorance kept this man in the belief that they were mere awards for excellence in service. Ironically the house the man managed to build and hanged those certificates of 'award' was unpainted and unfloored due to 'lack' of funds. It was at that point he told his friend's father that he was hanging millions all over his house yet living in penury but the man could not understand until he explained to him that those were investments which could be converted to millions of cash. Then he asked the man to bring down all the certificates, destroy the photographic frames around each and every one of them, pack them all in a file and follow him to Lagos where he helped him dematerialize them through his stockbroking firm (Midas) and sold off the shares in just two out of the over 30 certificates and the man was paid the over N5m proceeds to his astonishment and asking how it is possible to have made so much money without being aware he was doing a very lucrative business alongside his job while he worked in NRC. |

Meaning during the day, most of your energy needs will be from the sun during the day. Grid tie will not fit into your use case, particularly in Nigeria. You non go add corruption analysis? Someone even said Oga Emma is trying to average down on his age. Una non goo kee person for here. Mankindman: The Technical analyst of chronological age of PA Emma 1960 +/_ 5 The Sentimental and Fundamental analysis of his age equally predicted late 40s , this was arrived at after scrutinizing the words of wisdom gathered from his posts 📫 from 2003 till date, and the possibility that Pa-emma couldn't have be his first Monica on Nairaland due to the fact that majority of early users on Nairaland must have used more than one Monicas. The late 40s correlates with TA age of 1965 +/5 Therfore PA-Emma was born between 1970 to 1975. ie 48 to 53 yrs. Has anyone ever noticed that Pa Emma is not a fan of crypto currency? I strongly 💪 observed that he rarely speaks about Bitcoin. He would rather give you instant financial report of any listed company on the Nigeria Boursel. He also has a strong bias for NGX, he believes there is more value here than NYSE. There is a remote possibility that NYSE 😳 must have humbled our own Pa Emma. His view 😍 on Warren Buffett is divergent, while he is a strong fan of Jim Ovia and Segun Agbaje. He has refused to align with APC and LP , meaning he could have a love ❤️ for PDP. Most of his investment success and breakthrough must have happened during the PDP Era, this is consistent with Nigerians of age bracket 47 to 55 who had the opportunity of investing in the moderate glorious days of Nigeria 🇳🇬 nation. Pa-emma, come out and tell us your real age. We will continue to celebrate you remotely. I already told 2 new guys that want to learn TA and FA of Nigeria Bourse to follow you. |
