Only mistake I think you made was telling her it was your mom that suggested it. One thing you will learn in marriage is that you have to own decisions no matter where you get the idea from.

Even you will be irritated with her ... "my mummy said... my mummy said", it makes that party look immature enough to make their own decision.

Next time, make it look as if it is your own idea, then you will not be entering marriage by already declaring a war between daughter and mother in law. We know say they go still fight for future but don't be the one to declare the war when ordinary wisdom could have solved it.

However, u have to still stand your ground because even 2M is too much to spend on a wedding if you do not have at least 50% of that in savings post wedding ceremony.

Easy on the guy bro... He probably is a new proper agent and just wants to market a property to earn small commission and may not be familiar with this level of detail.

If you think of it, it is actually the responsibility of the prospective buyer to do his DD with regards to those info otherwise real marketers will put out fictitious figures just to lure the buyer.

Depending on the type of apartment though, many of them command as much as 2.5 million pa rent.

Akpabio has denied owning the hotel, now this research organization, next will be the telecoms network where the journalist claim to have gotten the call log.

Claiming to have gotten the call log of a caller was one loophole in that story. From the little I know about accessing third party call log, I know that it is something no staff can do for you without the risk of being sacked. It is one info very few people within the organization can't have access to within a very very good reason. Even when you sneak and get it, the access info is logged and the culprit is easily identified.

Too many grammar, give us case study.
Diogo2019:
Alright

Insurance generally is a risk transfer mechanism through which a party(insured) transfers his/her risk to another party(insurer).

Under life insurance, we have 2 types:
Individual life and group life.

Packages we offer and it's benefit
We have four packages
.My protection (group life)
.My life (individual life)
.My edusave
.My smartsave (individual life)

Starting from the first plan,
My protection- is a plan that can cover not only the policy holder, but his/her spouse, siblings, parents and parents in-law. It last as long as the policy holder is alive. The minimum sum assured is #1m and maximum is #100m. There are benefits attached to it like loyalty cash back, accidental death benefit and death benefit.
Minimum/Maximum age: for siblings over age of 18, parents and parents in-law up to age 74

Second one
My life- is a policy that covers only the policy holder. It's minimum term is 5years, minimum sum assured is #2m and no maximum sum assured. Benefits are loyalty cash back, critical illness benefit, permanent disability benefit and death benefit.

Third one
My edusave- it's a plan that help accumulate funds which can be used to pay for children's education in future. Minimum term is 7 years. Minimum annual contribution is #240000 ie monthly subscription of #20000. There are benefits attached to it like back to school pack and so on.

Then last one is
My smartsave- is a plan that helps for long term savings need. The policy is available at a policy duration of 6,9,12,15&18 years only. The minimum sum assured is #2m and no maximum. There's an annual guaranteed bonus of 2% of the sum assured and also the policy holder will have protection during the term of the plan.

Anyone interested can send me a mail, will also throw more lights on the benefits.

Thanks

It looks like the dividends is quite low. It is around 10 naira if my calculation is correct. All these claim of paying in USD is probably to put a wool over our head.

@emmanuelewumi. I like the picture quote: Strife to make money, live below your means, use extra money to make more money then repeat consistently. Prudent is the key and That brings me to my story.

I felt I needed to upgrade my car so I did. Anytime I'm driving it, I'm always super cautious in the hold ups because of the King of the roads, keke n the danfos, I don't behave edgy like this while driving my former car, I told my wife it seems I'm not financially fit to use this car because I'm overly careful while driving it, hate how I do scream don't hit me oo ,so I put it up for sale.

To my surprise it was sold withing two weeks with additional profit of 250k. Then I say to myself this seems like a business, I ordered for two more of the same brand ,park them in the compound then post the ads, boom barely three weeks both are sold with up to 650k profit, I've sold 12 in the course of eight months as I only do this with my spare time ,I never knew nigeria invest in automobile this much.

Note I only buy this same brand but the top notch n irresistible ones and someone somewhere is always willing to add 2/300k to get them back from me in no distant time. I bought dangote commercial paper some months back and it will take about 6 months to get 750k on that investments.

So if you can't afford or sustain a lifestyle discard it, also be open minded to possibilities around you.

It is the same way our politicians will say 'once iam voted in, i will do this and that' without actually saying how they intend to do it and people not asking or taking them to task on it. You saw how the poster was going spiritual when taken to task instead of giving a breakdown or giving more information until somebody else came and did a breakdown and more information.

Let me give you a brotherly advice, and I hope you work on it...
First of all I counsel people and I have done that on nairaland for a while... I have met great and good guys...
I dropped a story about my experience teaching in two schools as a corper and would not mind partnering with schools in abuja, but some accused me of looking for teaching job... Never ever mind what people say...
Back to the matter...
As a graduate, teaching and earning 15k, e no bad... But once you have a good (android) phone, go to any car stand of your choice around your area... Listen well, any good car stand and ask to see the manager... Tell him you want to help him market his cars and get good buyers... 90% of car stand managers will sign u on... Tel him you will be paid a small commission after sales...
Pick up your phone, snap as many cars as your phone memory can take, open a dedicated twitter ac, IG ac, Facebook ac, WhatsApp ac, ac etc... Take out time to post this cars, make sure you have the actual prices of this cars... You can add as much as #250k on it... Bring down the negotiations to as low as making #50k if need be just so I can sell. Set your monthly target... I assure you, if you get I client in a month, u make around #100,000k once you start growing, you can get as much as 5-10 client from all over the country and that hits you over #1m for just helping others sell their cars, Note all you invested was your time, energy, phone and data... No big financial capital...
Do not restrict yourself to cars, go for industrial machines as well, caterpillars, mikano gens, any thing, then you look for those big companies that need them and try to call their attention to it or market it to them... You may not sell in 3 months but when you manage to get a client to buy just 1 caterpillars, my brother you will instantly forget that u suffered before...
A friend of mine was marketing a silo for a local wielder, he received a call all the way from kebbi state, the purchase was made in Ilorin, he made #1.8 mil from buyers and #400k from seller... He still got a referral from that deal. Wake up bro...

Make I give you breakdown on how una money take dey finish all you city boys.
You get a 500k/month job(6m/yr), of course you have to keep up with the Jones as ahiboilandgas will say.
You will now move from Surulere to Island as a bigger boy na,of course 1.5m of that income don go.
You start toasting big women to Bleep bigman toto, each date costs you 50k cos you have to impress her na (maybe you buy champagne join),80k gone.
Every weekend you and your happening guys go go club na and na whiskey (18yrs) una go drink ,another 60k goes..
Of course you'll buy car weh pass you na,as a bigger boy and na for company you dey service am,just to open book for your head cost 10k or 15k sometimes,
Of course you love to attend weddings and owambe so you are a regular davidwej customer for suit or mai Atafo or seyivodi for native,na so that money dey deplete small small.
You dey load card 4k weekly and buy 200gb data to use video call your big babe make e show you wetin e dey cook for you and sometimes show you her pussy and breast sometimes so that make your prick charge, you can imagine how much you spend on that.
Truth beach club sabi you, unto big man weh you be na,all untop 500k ooo.
How can I forget, you no longer eat bucks nor cook, all the kilimanjaro and jevenik branch for your city know you say you dey always cone chop 3k lunch and when going home you also buy dinner or eat shawarma,as a bigger boy,so it costs like 6k to feed your bone head daily, okay ooo grin
And before another salary comes, that 500k remain 40k and yet you want follow build house ooo and of course na that same standard you dey rent for lekki you go like build oo,when you check the least apartment na N20m,and your home and away savings na 3m after working for 5yrs on 500k salary,
So of course I will argue too when I hear that 50k people are building houses grin
Be careful,be prudent if you want to make something out of your life,I don tell una.
If you invite me for wedding,be rest assured I am coming in a Tshirt and jean with sneakers, and I didn't come to spray you money or join your sweet boy train,na free woman weh dey find marriage weh I come find to fùck,nothing else. And I look for these kind of women so that I no go spend grin
I use to live luxuriously,I know what it did to me so I correct myself very early.I drive very basic cars, all easy to maintain japanese cars,I don leave german for una big ballers grin
Just today I took my pickup truck for servicing,na 20k I spend and I come dey para die upon say na work motor weh go still yield that money tomorrow, yet I dey vex. Then imagine what a balling car that brings no income will take. grin
I see 2016 C300 for 3.5m(very clean!) like a month ago,I no gree buy ooo.It had a 500k fault, the owner no get 500k to fix am,that should tell you a lot about the fast lifestyle ooo brethren!
I like my hilux jeje(I hardly drive the other one again sef) ,and funny enough all these girls weh dey find marriage upandan actually prefer guys with hilux cos they believe you are a productive man,So more free pussy for you my guys, and if you want milk these guys sef it's very easy because them go think say na for business you want put am,of course she go bleed for you so that make you use am dey build una future wealth grin

What am I saying? It is possible to build a house of 8m on 50k salary overtime ,you just don't believe it cos of your lifestyle that always leaves you almost penniless at the end of the month upon your big income.

Not going to work does not mean that they earn more. In short, going to work allows them do some other forms of runs that they add to their money.

One thing in my little time on earth I have learnt about money is that it is like an elastic or for spiritual people, it is like a spirit.

The more of it you have, the more expenses catch up with it. That is why a man earning 2 million a month can be broke on the 20th of that month and the man earning 100k will also be broker around same time.

Now let God bless that man with 100k to start earning 500k, give him 8 months, that man that was able to stay till 20th before becoming broke on 100k will also start getting broke on his new 500k, then he will look back and start wondering how he was able to survive on 100k.

Life is complex my brother, many things seem impossible from far until you experience it yourself. Many people who move from affluent to poverty, find after the initial denial if they are able to overcome the betrayal from friends and family who were once loving. If they finally reach that point of acceptance, they find out that they are able to adjust. Those who are not fortunate to make it to that level get depressed and bitter or worse commit suicide.
Life is complex, just do your best to control as many things as you can and leave the rest for the higher power to lookout for you.

MMM and MBA promise less than 3 months.

Also, it is capital intensive. Tying a lot of capital for about 5 years is not something those who can afford it want to do, those who are usually interested in it either do not have the capital or the vision and competence to go big on it.

If you do a little research on the palm tree you will be amazed at the value that tree has. Most people only know about palm oil, but that is not even where the money is from what I was able to gather.

The palm kernel oil is actually a more sought after product by many industries because it is the major component of may beauty products, pharmaceutical and that oil we call vegetable oil is actually from palm kernel oil. Then there is palm kernel cake for feedstock for animals.

In short, no part of the palm tree is wasted because even the leaves are used to make brooms while the sap from is what is used to make palm wine.

Nigerians really need to understand that God has blessed us already. Crude oil is supposed to just be an addon and not the major operating system.

ositadima1:
Palm oil has big value out there. I was listening to BBC's podcast, business daily the other day. They were talking about palm oil politics. How palm oil was part of most consumer products like toothpaste, soap, biscuits and other foods. It is also used to make bio fuel.

Currently, Maleshya and Indonesia supply like 90% of the world market. I even learnt that each palm tree can be harvested every month, hmmm.

I am sure Okumoil and Presco are limited only by howmuch they can supply.

All of you saying it is not possible, pick your phones and call your friends and relations that work are not based in Lagos, PH, Abuja to find out what they earn.

How much be state civil servants salary? All those guys working in local council how much be their salary? How much be police salary? Apart from doing sharp practices, many of them are either into subsistence farming to support and other petty trading on the side. When the guy says 3 bedroom flat, he may not mean Lekki standard house or even a story building. He may have built that house over a period of 8 years. I know back Ibadan even has low transport cost, there used to be places you could go for even 20 naira.

He mentioned UI, that probably means his kids are in staff school. His wife words in a nursery school so he probably didn't need to pay for nanny or creche as the school will probably have discount for staff.

Lagos, PH and Abuja are the most expensive cities in Nigeria to my knowledge many other states still have very low cost of living. Because the competition in those places is also not as stiff as lagos, many of them live very contented life and are not interested in clubbing or even knowing where the airport is.

City life don really spoil many of una.

The idea is not entirely a new one. The keyword is not on the heat from the sun but the vitamin D it is believe to provide.

Lazyyouth4u:
What kind of theory is this. India is hotter and more humid than Nigeria!
Have you been wondering why ordinary folks seem to be less affected by COVID-19?

Whenever my drivers, home helps and security guards come back from their leave at home, I always asked them the state of things in their villages. Up till today, for the past one year, none has come back with any news of deaths or serious illnesses requiring hospitalisation in their homes or surroundings. I visited the Sabo market in Sagamu and the tomato market at toll gate in Ogere in Ogun State. I questioned many traders if any stall or store owners had been missing, or did not come to the market or had actually died. Responses were always negative.

So, clearly the prevalence of noticeable infection with coronavirus is less among the lower class and fatalities appear to be higher among the upper class. However, it is necessary to make some adjustments for the fact that deaths among the elite class readily get media attention than those of regular folks.
Melinda Gates’ prediction failed woefully because there was no way she could have foreseen this demographic prevalence factor in the spread of COVID-19. The overall infectivity and fatalities on the Africa continent are disproportionately much lower than the rest of the world!

What is the magic here?

Simply put, the magic is SUNLIGHT.

People who are daily exposed to sunlight are able to convert some chemicals in their skins to vitamin D, especially D3.

Scientists have incontrovertible evidence that Vitamin D seriously boost the human immunity and actually have capacity to prevent respiratory and lung diseases.

In the case of COVID-19, vitamin D3 can prevent infection in some people and in others who still get infected, it decreases the severity of the infection and recovery rate is far better.
Recently, a petition signed by 120 physicians spread across the globe, (I have a copy) has been sent to world leaders and governments to treat vitamin D deficiency common in Europe and Americas, who have effective sunlight for just a few months in a year and hence have large numbers of the populace suffering from vitamins deficiency leading to high rates of susceptibility to COVID-19 infections and deaths.

‌
Many of us the elites in Africa are also vitamin D-deficient and this makes us ready targets for COVID-19 infections also. This is because we are hardly in the sun all year round.

Yet, a 30-minute lounge daily in the bright sunlight gives one about 20,000 iu of vitamin D in our blood. This figure is much higher than our daily requirement which is about 4000 iu of vitamin D.

This is why young people, students, hawkers, traders and many who toil daily under the sun have very high immunity against COVID-19.
So my dear elders, VIPs and ‘Ogas’, please walk leisurely or lounge in the sun for 20 to 30 minutes daily, and with your face masks always on in public and observing normal COVID-19 protocols. With daily supplications to the Almighty, you will place a ban on COVID-19 from affecting you and your household.

God bless you all.

https://www.nairaland.com/6364684/why-covid-19-spares-poor

This Article is from the respected The Spectator:

The argument that vitamin D deficiency may contribute to more severe cases of Covid is gaining ground. It is now reaching the point where it is surprising that we are not hearing from leading medical officials and politicians that people should consider taking supplements to ensure they have sufficient vitamin D.

This is not the same as arguing that vitamin D is a magic bullet that will cure the disease. Vitamins are not medication, the taking of which will have positive effects on everybody. They are top-ups: things that hurt you when you don’t have enough of them in your system but do no extra good when you have enough. Indeed, with many vitamins, including D, taking too much can be toxic.

However, it is true that many people are deficient in vitamin D, especially at the end of winter. That is because, uniquely, vitamin D is a substance manufactured by ultraviolet light falling on your skin. You can get some from fish and other foods, but not usually enough. So most people’s vitamin D levels fall to a low point in February or March when the sun has been weak and its UV output especially so. Public health bodies have long advised people to supplement vitamin D in winter anyway.

Vitamin D deficiency may or may not help to prevent you catching the virus, but it does affect whether you get very ill from it
The level falls especially low in people who stay indoors a lot, including the elderly, and in those who have darker skin. Whereas the safe level of vitamin D is generally agreed to be above 10 nanograms per millilitre, one recent study of South Asians living in Manchester found average levels of 5.8 in winter and 9 in summer: too low at all times of the year. Darker skin reduces the impact of sunlight; so does the cultural habit of veiling; and so does a reluctance among some Muslims to take supplements that might have pork-derived gelatin in them.

Vitamin D deficiency has long been known to coincide with a greater frequency or severity of upper-respiratory tract infections, or colds. That this is a causal effect is supported by some studies showing that vitamin D supplements do reduce the risk of such infections. These studies are not without their statistical flaws, so cannot yet be regarded as certain, but they are not quackery like a lot of the stuff coming out of the supplements industry: they come from reputable medical scientists.

What about vitamin D and Covid in particular? Results are coming in from various settings and the main message seems to be that vitamin D deficiency may or may not help to prevent you catching the virus, but it does affect whether you get very ill from it. One recent study in Chicago concluded that its result 'argues strongly for a role of vitamin D deficiency in COVID-19 risk and for expanded population-level vitamin D treatment and testing and assessment of the effects of those interventions.'

The bottom line is that an elderly, overweight, dark-skinned person living in the north of England, in March, and sheltering indoors most of the time is almost certain to be significantly vitamin D deficient. If not taking supplements, he or she should be anyway, regardless of the protective effect against the Covid virus. Given that it might be helpful against the virus, should not this advice now be shouted from the rooftops?

A new article by a long list of medical experts in the BMJ cautiously agrees, confirming that many people in northern latitudes have poor vitamin D status, especially in winter or if confined indoors, and that low vitamin D status 'may be exacerbated during this COVID-19 crisis by indoor living and reduced sun exposure'.

It adds that very high intakes or 'mega supplements' will not help and may cause harm, and it is this that probably explains the reluctance of the authorities to spread the message. Another factor may be the lack of lobbying. Vitamin supplements are cheap and unpatented, so there is no great incentive for big companies to push them. All the more reason for government to do so.

It should be possible, and wise, to tell people to take modest doses of vitamin D supplements for their health. The evidence is easily strong enough to justify it.

Coronavirus patients who get enough vitamin D are 52 per cent less likely to die of the infection, study finds
• Boston University researchers found that COVID019 patients with 'sufficient' levels of vitamin D wer about 52 percent less likely to die after hospitalisation
• Rates of severe illness were about 13 percent lower in vitamin D-sufficient patients and intubation was 46% less common
• Vitamin D plays a crucial role in the immune system's ability to fight infection and keep inflammation - which kills many COVID-19 patients - in check
• About 42 percent of Americans are vitamin D deficient, with higher rates among elderly Americans and people of colour
• Black, Hispanic and elderly people are also among the hardest hit by coronavirus

People who get enough vitamin D are at a 52 percent lower risk of dying of COVID-19 than people who are deficient for the 'sunshine vitamin,' new research reveals.

Vitamin D plays a crucial role in the immune system and may combat inflammation. These features may make it a key player in the body's fight against coronavirus.

Rates of vitamin D deficiency are also higher in some of the same groups who have been hardest hit by coronavirus: people of color and elderly people. It's by no means a causal link, but suggests that vitamin D could play a role in who gets COVI-19, who gets sickest from it, and who is spared altogether.

Boston University's Dr Michael Holick found in his previous research that people who have enough vitamin D are 54 percent less likely to catch coronavirus in the first place.

Following on that work, he and his team have found that people who don't get enough of the vitamin are far more likely to become severely ill, develop sepsis or even die after contracting coronavirus.

Because vitamin D deficiency is common in people with other disease that raise coronavirus risks, it's impossible to say exactly how many lives would be spared if we all got our daily dose of the sunshine vitamin.

But we know that about 42 percent of the US population is vitamin D deficient. If that rate held true for the more 203,000 Americans who died of coronavirus, perhaps some 85,000 would have fared better with improved vitamin D levels.

In Britain 20 per cent of the population suffer from the deficiency, according to the British Nutrition Foundation. When the rate is applied to the UK's 41,936 deaths from coronavirus, it suggests 8,387 of them could have been helped with improved levels of Vitamin D.

Some people have said our sun provides Vit. D that helps reduce the spread. One may be tempted to believe because our markets especially the big ones are always packed full. Looks like staying in an air conditioned environment all the time reduces ones immunity. Just speculating
