I stopped complaining about racism long time ago.I went to pick my wife from Munich Airport and was surprised to hear that 7 nigerians were arrested on the same flight for ingesting cocaine.
My wife was even more shocked because the passenger she complained of snouring too loud was among those arrested.Imagine a drug-courier snoring so loud in flight.

Italy is really disgusting. No thanks to our fellow Nigerians.

"talk is cheap" so says the American adage. We are all free to say or write whatever we feel but it is completely immoral for us to distort truth.
Lagos is a former capital that ahs been deglected over the years. The infrastructures are ALMOST DESTROYED and the traffic is nerve-breaking.
LASTMA brought fear into the minds of drivers as they are fined heavily for ever traffic offence. This is to enforce discipline and ensure that we follow laid down traffic rules.
The fine paid in germany for traffic offences is 10X more than what LASTMA is demanding.
No economy develops without one form of tax or the other. We all enjoy good roads, bridges, etc. They dont come free.Tax is a moral responsibility not a financial liability.

If it is too much for you, PLEASE RELOCATE TO NEIGHBOURING OGUN OR OYO STATE OR BETTERSTILL YOUR STATE OF ORIGIN.

Tinubu has nothing to hide, OBJ in his quest to "capture" Lagos at all cost in 2007 threw so much dust at Tinubu but none sticks. He is either clean(which i doubt) or too smart for OBJ,Ribadu and their acomplices. He came out on top at the end of the day and brought Fashola to power.

He was in those foreign embassies to seek support for the electoral reform.Nigeria has a colonial history with Britain and as such can put pressure on the leadership of the legislative arm to expedite action on the reforms.

The fact still remains that Fashola is one of the best candidate for the national job. This can be achieved through the Mega Summit Movement(MSM).If fashola is adopted as the Presidential candidate of the MSM,he will definitely win any election against Yar'Adua.
But first, the forces behind the MSM(notably Atiku,Bafarawa,Buhari) will have to bury their presidential aspirations.

Nigeria is 40-something years behind in development, clear leadership and economic/social empowerment. We need to get it right this time by voting for the right person.

PoliticsRe: Is It Just Me Or Do Ibos Simply Dislike Yorubas?!? by olafolarin(m): 12:24pm On Nov 29, 2009
Can we go back to the topic and stop all these personal attacks.KIDS!!!!!!!!

Personally, the tensioon between ibos and Yorubas is something i never noticed at home.I lived in lagos and i know that Ibos in Lagos have controlled disdain(when aT ALL) for yorubas. In the privacy of their living rooms, they might express their anger or hatred but it is not shown outside. In general,Yorubas have been great accommodaters of the IBOS.

Historically,The Ibos believe the ill-concieved civil war was lost because of the yorubas. The continous marginalisation of the Ibo nation is also blamed on the yorubas.

But antecedents has shown and proofed otherwise.

The south-west was against the move for seccession being agitated by Ojukwu.SW leaders at the time felt Nigeria (despite its diversty)should remain one.
Ojukwu and his co-horts felt otherwise and wanted unfailingly to be alone. This automatically pitches the yorubas with Hausas against  the seccession agitators(SE).Hence the civil war.
It is still a Yoruba man who was highly instrumental in ending the war they it did.
But afterwar development of the Ibo nation was mainly scuttled and hijacked by the Ibo leadership. The Federal Govt's ineptitude or lack of commitment to SE's economic independence also helped in wrecking the Ibo economy.
But years after the civil war,ZIK was the leader of the whole country and had opportutnity to at least develop his area but he didnt do that with utmost conviction and agility compared to what AWolowo did to SW when he was Premier of the SW.

There is one more reason the Ibos should be appreciatrive of the Yorubas:
Every Ibo indigene should should compare Yoruba friendliness to the Ibos compared to Hausas hostilities. There is constant attack and violence on Ibos in the Northern part of the country compared to the complete peace and tranquility, commercial bouyancy and economic independence enjoyed by the same Ibos in SW.Ibos feel at home in lagos and even have a high chief and tradistional ruler in Lagos.Traditrional marriages,August meeting, etc is now being held in Lagos. Is it the same in the conservative North?

I sincerely dont want to picture a situation where the Yorubas will send all Ibos in their land packing. It will be population and economic tsunami for the Ibo nation.Much morse than what happened before and after the civil war.

Disdain for each other will never bring good results. We now have inter-tribal marriages, appointments etc.It is unfortunate the civil war happened but we should grow above tribal sentiments and move to a more harnessing platform.

With my comments,i expect so much peeps and slaps but truth remains the truth.
PoliticsLagos Roads by olafolarin(op): 1:58pm On Nov 25, 2009
Recently, the Special Adviser on Works and Infrastructure to Lagos State Governor Babatunde Fashola, Engineer Ganiyu Abiodun Johnson, was in Agege and Ifako Local Government areas of the state.

The inspection kicked off at Ogba where the Lagos State government is constructing a Magistrate Court complex. Facilities in the main building include a parking space on the ground floor, lifts, courtrooms, staircases, courtyards, conference rooms, library exhibit lift, offices and conveniences. There is also a ramp for the physically challenged as well as a withholding cell. Work commenced on the project in January 2008 and the expected date of completion is April 2009.
The inspection team was also at the Gorge Treatment at Yaya Abatan Road in Ifako Ijaiye. Engineer Johnson said the gorge is 23 metres deep and has eroded severally and now threatens the Yaya Abatan carriageway. This, he said, prompted the state government to award the contract.

Johnson said the project was progressing satisfactorily and hinted that eight metres of the gorge have also been reclaimed to increase the width of the road to 20 metres at the gorge section.
Work is also nearing completion at the 100-bed maternal and child care complex at the General Hospital in Ifako Ijaiye. The Lagos State government says the project will reduce infant and maternal mortality rates in the state.

Engineer Johnson and his team also inspected the on-going rehabilitation of Oniwaya Road in Agege. The project was awarded in March 2007 as a priority project to enhance commercial and social activities. The road, when completed, will link Afanla and Awosoga among other communities.

Humuani/Adetona Street in Agege area is another road under construction by the state government. The pavement of the work has been completed and it will be a bypass to Abeokuta Road.
Two residents of the area, Mr. Eddy Benson, a dentist and Sullaiman Danlami, who spoke on behalf of the Hausa community lauded the government’s gesture, saying the road was impassable, owing to potholes and craters.

The construction of Balogun Street (Phase II) in Orile Agege will soon be completed. The Community Development Association (CDA) Chairman in the area, Mr. Samuel Doherty who appreciated the state government for the gesture urged the residents to be faithful in the payment of their taxes, so that more developmental projects will come to the community.

The contractor handling the construction of Mancity Olaniyi Road –Phase II, assured Engineer Johnson that the project would be completed by March 2010. The road will link Abule Egba, Jankara, Ijaiye, Akinde and Toll Gate. Mr. Emmanuel Adeosun, the CDA Chairman said: “We thought the road would not be done in the next 10 years but Governor Fashola is doing it now.”

Other road projects inspected by the Special Adviser are Sanni Balogun Street, Ilupeju/Jibowu Estate Road, Beckley Estate Phase I, Alakuko in Abule Egba and Akinde.
Deputy Director of Bulletine Construction Company, Otunba Lekan Osifeso, promised that the Beckley Estate Phase I and Akinde would be completed in March 2010.

Engineer Johnson said Alakuko Road was constructed in 2001 but was later destroyed by flood. This, he said, prompted the state government to redesign the road. The construction firm, CONSTENG Limited, promised to hand over the project by the end of February 2010.
In his overall assessment after the inspection, Engineer Johnson, said: “Most of the projects are really behind schedule but I will score the building project very high. We have done well on the road projects but not as expected. So, I will score the road project above average.

“This year, unfortunately, we experienced unprecedented rain, especially in October and November. That has really slowed down the progress of work. Even with that, I want to assure you that we’ll not compromise on quality. We have advised the contractors that they should double their workforce, so that they will be able to meet the schedule by the end of March 2010.

“We have projects going on at Orile, Coker, Ajeromi, Ifelodun and other areas of the state. The administration of Governor Babatunde Fashola is executing various projects all over Lagos State. It is either a road project is going on or a school or hospital is being constructed. Each resident of the state must benefit from the state government.”

How will the control stations establish technology? It can only complement technology, what does it have to do with the Lagos Mega City? Apart from providing a strong reference station for surveys and engineering work, i dont see how much these will affect the city. Road congestion? How? I dont know.

It is a state project, I dont know why someone will think it is a private project.

GPS will definitely ease road cogestion as it will provide informatuns on alternative routes to a particular destination.

can we all imagine what Nigeria would have become without the war?
Without Ojukwu's insistence on seccession knowing fully well he didnt have the logistics to win the war.Only for him to run away to Ivory coast in the thick of the war.
Leaving behind millions of his people in hunger and hopelessness.Only a coward will do such.
Some 40 something years later, the same Ojukwu is being presented and treated as an Igbo leader.

The effects of the war on the Psyche of our Igbo brothers is the display of emotions, abuse, cowardise, frustration, and above all illiteracy on this thread.

The Igbo nation fought(assiduously) and lost the war that should not have been waged in the forst place. But Ojukwu was blinded by his cockiness, greed and hope of controlling Nigeria's Oil which(at the time) is not even within Igbos landmass.
Nigerian leaders mismanaged the after war economics and that left the Eastern block in abject poverty.
We should all grow above these defaming tribal attacks.
Politics"omo Alata" In Lagos State House Of Assembly by olafolarin(op): 8:07pm On Nov 18, 2009
It was a show of shame , yesterday, at the Lagos state House of Assembly in Ikeja, shortly after the state governor, Mr. Babatunde Fashola, presented the state's 2010 budget proposals, tagged “Budget of Consolidation”, to the lawmakers .
Trouble started when the impeached Deputy Speaker, Adefunmilayo Tejuosho, took on a female colleague, Risikat Adegeye, in a hot exchange of words , when the members were taking group photographs with the state Deputy Governor, Mrs Sarah Adebisi Sosan.
Tejuosho had taken offence at the decision of Adegeye to take her leave from the photo session when Tejuosho wanted to join the group for the photo-shoot.
Afterwards, some members, including the lawmaker representing Agege Constituency I, Mudasiru Obasa, and the Chief Whip, Rasak Balogun, tried to mediate between the duo who had been at loggerheads after the removal of Tejuoso as the deputy speaker.
As this was going on, Tejuosho threw caution to the winds and insulted Adegeye by referring to her as “omo alata” meaning pepper hawker, suggesting Adegeye is not fit to be a member of the Assembly.
She even threatened to beat up Adegeye, screaming “ma na e, ma fi ye wipe Mushin ni mo ti wa”, meaning “I will beat you and prove to you that I am from Mushin area of the state”.
In retaliation, Adegeye fired back , using denigrating and derisive words to describe Tejuosho .The two female lawmakers were at the point of exchanging blows when their male colleagues who were present to witness the altercation intervened.
In an effort to prevent the scenario from being reported, the Chief Whip ordered security agents to chase reporters out of the chamber, claiming the business of the day had been concluded.
It would be recalled that Tejuosho was removed from office as the Deputy Speaker on Monday, August 17, 2009 through a letter signed by majority of the members due to what was alleged to be high-handedness, violation of the Assembly rules amongst other allegations. After her removal, it took Tejuosho some weeks to return to the Assembly and when she eventually
returned late October, she took a seat beside Adegeye, who immediately relocated to avoid getting close to Tejuosho .

@olafolarin,

Thanks for your post.

However, based on this your comment "Ojukwu was hell-bent on the war", it seems that you're either fuzzy about the events that led to the war or have deliberately ignored them in a spirited bid to portray the Ikemba in a bad light.
I read and watched the war documentary, did some courses(though introductory) on nigerian politics as a 9ja undergraduate(over a decade ago) and read some other war write-ups from different people.(Both on Biafra side and Fed Govt side)
From the little i know, the war would have been averted if Ojukwu believed in Nigeria's unity as a single whole country.
The price paid by the Nigerian nation for the war far outweighs the justifications for the war.

We should extol "Out of many,we are one" virtues that will bring us together.

The tribal divide is however being bridged in politics where some governers go beyond their tribe to appoint assistants and commissioners.

A good example is Ben Akabueze, former NAL Bank MD,is now the commissioner for Budget and Planning in Lagos state. He oversees the budget of the most populace State in sub-saharan Africa.

Kano until recently is known for its religious and ethnic violence but Alhaji Ahmed Shekarau-Kano state governor, appointed Chris Azuka and Adebayo Adeniyi as Special Advisers on Inter-Comm Relations.

Dr Chris Ngige-a former governor -is also contesting the Anambra guber on the platform of AC-which is termed a "Yoruba Party"in some quarters.

Other states and individuals should embrace such to bridge tribal and ethnic divide.

I am inspired and at the same time disappointed.
Disappointed because despite the overwheming knowledge from the civil war,we seem not to have learnt anything from it.Ojukwu was hell-bent on the war despite glaring evidences which shows that he doesnt have enough resources/logistics to embark on or sustain the war.Today, ojukwu is being hailed in some quarters as a tribal leader.Despite embarking on a war that shouldnt have been waged in the first place. The war that took his people generations backwards.Recently,he threatened to declare another civil war if the Appeal Court judgement goes Any Uba's way. Here is someone whose crage and thirst for "uncertain war" lead to the massacre and "almost genocide" of his kindred.ALL BECAUSE OF RESOURCE CONTROL.The tsunami effect of the war helped in heightening tribal tensions in Nigeria till today. So many facts were distorted and a particular section of the country still feel"neglected" since the war ended.

Awolowo might be right on war predictions and ways of ending it,but did he exhaust all resources in his reach to ensure that war victims attain their pre-war status?

How come most states in the North-with neither a single oil block nor high population -enjoys much more financial ambience that Lagos,Edo or Anambra state.

We should encourage discussions and discourse that will increase our love and affections for each other instead of making people like oJUKWU and its like a hero in Nigeria's politics and polity.

I watched the public hearing by the State's house of assembly on LTV a few weeks back on the LASU crisis. As an indigene of the state, i am compelled to comment that the state govt should as a matter of urgency remove the VC. This is no time to play party politics with such an important issue. From the presentations of students to the various labour organisations in the university, it was obvious that there was no love lost between the VC and the other unions.
They were all unanimous in their submissions that the VC should go.
A similar thing happened in OAU during Prof. Omole's tenure, we students were fed up with his draconian rule and were clamouring for his removal but the FG would not budge. It took the killing of 9 students by cultists claimed to have been sponsored by the VC before the FG could act.

Gov. Fashola, a stitch in time saves nine (no pun intended). I am sure that the likes of Babapupa and Olafolarin are reading this.
I was in LASU in 1995 as a fresh jambite when Prof. Okebukola was the DVC.Travelling from palmgrove to ojo everyday was hell and i had to pull through for a whole year.the incessant ASUU strike made thngs even worse.
I left LASU a year later for UNILAG after being admitted for a better course.UNILAG at the time had late Prof Jelili Adebisi Omotola as the VC and he partlly made my first degree possible because of the "Work-Study Program" he initiated, which allowed us to work for a stipend(400 naira weekly) while studying.

As a member of Junior Chambers,I met and associated with so many LASU students at the time.

The Current LASU VC's antics leaves lot to be desired. The state govt should for once raise the level of the instituton to that of its Akoka counterpart.
Lasing office complex with charms is just not it.Its ridiculous.
