I am one of them! I would feed you chocolate and Ice cream till you forget your name.
I would take you to beach and let you sun bath yourself while I play mr nice guy.
I would jump from the mountain top if need be to prove my love.
I would empty my salary on your cusmetics and body can look your best.
I would cook for you and wash your undies while you take a stroll to the club house.
I would open the door for you to enter a car or office while you cheer the crowd.
I would kill myself if you leave me for a day. . . . .

If that qualifies as romantic, then, I am sure we would find as many "me" as possible on our land.

CareerRe: Untl, Nichemtex Labour Do Something by olanajim(m): 6:31pm On Jan 22, 2008
I worked under Chinese during my IT some time ago at a Textile company in lagos. I was priviledged of working in all the department from the raw material to finishing section. I saw alot of things then that made me resolve never to work in Textile firm even though there were great opportunities in the sector.

While your observation may be right, you forget to mentioned, if you noticed, the role played by our own people in the whole mess. To every foreign firms maltreating our people, there are scores of Nigerian collaborators, mostly opportunists, motivating them to act the way they did. My supervisor at that time had GCE, but to protect his job, every graduates is half baked. He sold that idea to the chinese, who then treat graduates as slaves. There is alot to say, but let us realize that we can check them if we act collectively.

Once we can identify the root, the first step is to start exposing them. The next is to reject any company that maltreat Nigerians. If NO one accept to work for them, they would change their attitudes. But some fools would work for them and still complain of being maltreated.

What baffled me most at the time is that. Most of these firms would retrench their workers while still owing them months salary arrears. They would then, if any, pay stipend as severance package. Before you say, Yahoo, advert would have gone round for vacancies. Another set of hungary Nigerians take over. Few months later, they are systematically laid off in the same manner. And the cycle repeat itself!

When I was an intern in another company, in Ogun state, I noticed the same trend. Though Indians own the firm. I told the MD the truth and promptly terminated my own programme without collecting a dime. The next thing I heard of the company was that it was liquidated months after my departure.

Our resolution to tackle these menace depends on many things. We alone can stop them. Govt can't do much as long as they pay taxes.

Dating And Meet-up ZoneRe: Ngojoygurl is Back!!!! by olanajim(m): 5:50pm On Jan 21, 2008
@all,

for those who may wish to know. Ngojoygurl is one of the few members whose job won't allowed to come regularly to the forum. She was on the nl when sane men post freely. When intellectuals are willing to devote their time to the land. She is also one of those who avoids nairaland because of "The Invasion".

To round it up, she came to the land before me. Therefore, I think the best we can do is welcome her back and not drive her away.

I know this because, I knew her.

Many old nairalanders return only to find a strange forum. Some of them simply return to their shells, while some stay on.

@efua,
I disagree with that statement. Not all sane men become insane on Nairaland. Real men won't lose their heads simply because some lunatics attack them. I am sure you know that. And you are one of the real women here. The best we can do, is to either drive away the insanes or ignore them. That is what I have been doing lately. When crazy dudes post silly comments on the forum, ignoring the posts would make them die, silently, of frustration. I have tried it and it worked. It is working. That is the best way we can drive out the lunatics from nairaland.

Pin4eva,
thank God, the mischief maker didn't use your password to commit fraud. I know he is reading this thread and my comment, especially when I replied efua was directed at the people like him. I understand he lives in Middle belt region. I am hoping that I would locate him when I come there on a visit. I want him to see me and know who I really am. Had he tried what he did to you on me, I'd have got him arrested. I know how to track his location by just chatting him on YM. Unfortunately, I had no need of him. He is not trustworthy at all and I am very grateful to God I got to knew him before he struck.

@Toyinrayo,

Thank you for your maturity. I am proud that we have people like you around. Humility personified. I hope your health is improving? I am glad you have a strong mind. God bless.

It is not their fault, we also share the blame. Until Nigerians learn to have confidence in themselves, the foreigners would continues to treat us with impunity.

CareerRe: Can Your Career Stop You From Finding True Love? by olanajim(m): 9:56am On Jan 20, 2008
Having personally passed through the stage where career affect love life, I can say that the whole things depend on one's orientation and attitude. And to a large extent the people around you.

A lot have been said above. What have not been said is that No matter how rich and successful you are, your life would be boring and incomplete without someone to love you the way you are. Someone you can lean on when the reality of life hit you. Someone you can trust.

The guys above can be encouraged to befriend lady of their choice, casually. That way, the relationship would grow naturally. I think the trouble with the guys is not that they can't find love of woman. The real problem is that they have not found the kind of woman they want. We must realize that their jobs, in this case, Medicine and Computer take them away from socialisation. To help them, they must find time to mingle with people and socialize freely with male who can help them no matter how short that time may be. Gradually, they would pick the message up.

This suggestion is very helpful especially if the guys are introverts. No man, no matter how strong, can resist the urge to be near a woman for a long time unless he is either castrated, a monk, or is having chronic emotional problems.

I conclude that while career can indeed affect love life, it is the behavorial patterns of the victims that make it a problem. I agrees with Yimiton, that one must strike a balance between the two. Anything else would simply hurt the victims and eventually ruin their career.

Yemi,

Fantastic! I am a disciple of Mirror philosophy. I don't need to see you to see your heart.

The babe is no queen of England. But ask yourself, why out of the ten of thousand ladies in the land, she is the only one that deserve a thread from you. At least you complaint to us that she didn't reply. Nobody asked you to vomit it.

2. I did you no favour. For all that can see, your reply to me show that you either want to waste her time or you are up to some crap. There is little to say there except that a busy fellow would ignore you. That is why I said you bungled an opportunity.

You should know the best way to reach her than shout her name on a forum. If I were you, I'd have found out why she was silence than vent my frustration on other people. Never mind, she would get in touch with you tonight in dreamland. Happy dreaming!

Tkb,
sorry I didn't understand what you mean by band. I hope you don't mean something else. At any rate, I would be glad to choose you too.

Chiegemba,
quite an age! I never know you still come to NL. If you don't mind, kindly IM me. My email is on my profile.

@poster,
good luck.
RomanceRe: Different Religion But He Proposed: What Should I Do? by olanajim(m): 7:30am On Jan 15, 2008
David, how many people did you love on nairaland?

@poster,
raising kids is no problem as long as both of you have iron out the grey areas. Personally, I think it is both challenging and fun to marry from the other side of the religion.

I have a yardstick for measuring success rate. And that is probably why I am always optimistic. If the two of you can consciously fall in love know you differ in faith, then, it is possible you work things out.

The odds here is that A "strong" muslim lady won't marry non muslim. By "strong" I am talking of someone who breath and speak quran. A muslim man however can make decision quickly whether he is islamically "weak" or "strong". However, he can't marry unbelievers.

The mistakes most of fanatical christains made is branding muslims as "unbelievers". That is not just stupid but irrational. Muslims on the other hand branded christains as "people of the book". Christains are never regarded as unbelievers all through the quran. They are given respect. On the other hand, some selfish christains had made it an occupation to classify muslims as "unbelievers" even when the bible didn't mentioned "muslims" in it description of unbelievers.

I strongly believe that couple dating from other religions must resolve the issue before getting married. Once this is done, third parties should be shut out. As they would stop at nothing to create disharmony between the couple.

RomanceRe: Different Religion But He Proposed: What Should I Do? by olanajim(m): 6:26pm On Jan 11, 2008
@june12.
Why do some people regard men on the other sides as unbelievers? The people that have problems dealing with difference of Religion in relationship are, to be honest, those who are yet to understand what it mean by God. If God is in one religion only, the all other religions would have been in disarray.
To a mind with wisdom, such pronouncement is needless. I have deep knowledge of Islam and Christainity and a bit of tradition. My understanding thought me never to condemn others as unbelievers. The irony is that some sections of christains even consider other section as unbelievers, even though they read the same bible!

My point therefore is simple, NEVER CALL OTHER RELIGIOUs as UNBELIEF.

@poster,
in truth, this kind of issue is hard. The battle line is drawn between love and religion. Faith and wisdom stand in between. The strongest wins.

It all depends on you. On your background. Somebody would have to sacrifice for the kids. Try and talk to your man first. Listen to him and his ideal about this. Let him see into the future. Let him tell you what he see.

Never marry, muslim or christain, just because you have disappointments in the past. Always be sure that your decision is the best you can think of.

The truth I must tell you is that if you marry a muslim man, your kids would carry muslim names.

There is this weird couple I once know. Christain husband, muslim wife. The wife call their child SIKIRAT, and the husband call the same child ESTER! You can imagine how hot their home is. Strangely, they are still together today. The husband won. Why? Because he is the head. But they maintain their respective religion till date. They settled the child name by using yoruba name. YETUNDE!

It is always hard. Just let her go.

One reason I used to advocate loving with head instead of heart is that when thing like this happens, you won't die of heartbreak.

Since you work offshore, put your heart in your job and sooner, you would forget her.

It is a mistake to keep begging her if she is having fun over your predicament.
