Wow!!! Welldone Gov.Amosun but this is just the beginning. If I'm to score you, I'll give you 2%. More power to your elbow as you work to complete the remaining 98% work-in-progress. |
With a very good plan and leader (cos a good plan is nothing if the leader is bad &, corrupt), I see no reason why every oil producing state in Nigeria, shouldn't aspire to be like, at least one-tenth of what Dubai is today. For instance, Dangote has commenced plan to build a multi-billion dollars refinery in Ondo state SW of Nigeria. The question is, like Ogun state, what are the plans of Ondo state to capitalise on this single investment by Dangote, which will definately attract other investors. The Ondo govt need to borrow a leaf from Dubai by using what they have (crude oil & about to be built 'massive' working refinery), to get what they want. By now, there ought to be a master plan(blue-prints) in place for every one to see. They shouldn't expect investors to be flying to Lagos & risk there lives on roads or "bus terminals" called domestic airports. This is the time to start attracting investors but if you don't "jump into the water" like Fashola did, no one will swim with you. Having crude oil is not enough, having a world class refinery won't be enough. Now is the time to start building modern infrastructures that befits the type of investments coming to the state. Same goes to other oil producing states like Bayelsa, Imo, Rivers, Akwa Ibom, Delta, Abia, Anambra, Edo and soon to join next year, Lagos. |
Just few years back, Dubai was a desert & people hardly recognised its existence. But luckily for them, crude oil was discovered and suddenly, there was a turnaround of destiny for the people of Dubai. The good leaders of Dubai sat down and plan on how to attract the world to their deserts(just like Amosun & Fashola are doing) but they were mocked & laughed at. But they were not ready to be discouraged, they worked day and night(just like what Fashola is doing at the Eko atlantic city and Lekki FTZ)while their neighbours mock them. But finally, Dubai's deserts was transformed into world class edifices ranging from hotels, tourist centres, business centres, tourist centres, leisure centres, educational centres, sport centres, industries, name them. Today, Dubai is like a "beautiful young virgin girl" that every country, rich or poor wants to woo & be-friend. Americans, British, Canadians, Nigerian, Russians and the rest of the world now fight tooth and nail just to have a plot of land in the 'desert'. SUMMARY of my story, Gov. Amosun, don't look back, don't look right, don't look left, just be focused and keep looking ahead. Remember, a journey of a thousand miles starts with a footstep. |
Looks like a misplaced priority!
Please we want more of this 'misplaced priorities' in all SW states. Biko ![]() |
^^^^^^ Apparently, you slept through economics class in school. For your information, revalueing the naira does not put more money in your pocket.
You guessed right ![]() Yeah, I agree with you Mr Economist. You get more money in your pocket by devaluing the Naira. |
In the early 1970s up until early 80s, there was oil boom in Nigeria, the exchange rate for a £1 was N1, Nigerians were doing fine cos the economy was booming. No nigerian even have a thought of going to the UK or US to work except for study purpose. Because of the huge resources from the lenght and breath of Nigeria, most europeans refused to go back to their various countries even when Nigeria had been declared as an independent country. Due to Nigeria's huge human & mineral resources, the developed countries lead by UK (through the IMF et al) encouraged our leaders to devalue our Naira & when they refused, they encouraged some young military coup plotters who were desperate for power, to destabilise our economy. These crop of leaders (puppets) devalued the Naira to what it is today and the rest as they say,is HISTORY. The repercurssion is what we are seeing today. High rate of Unemployment, corruption, greed, undemocratic institutions, bad leadership etc. Now, because of our currency they devalued, most Nigerian youths are desperate to travel to UK, US & other developed countries in order to make a living for themselves. Need I say that,as at today, getting a visa to UK, US etc is like the Biblical story of a camel passing through the eye of a needle. And now, the introduction of an humiliating £3000 bond for any Nigerian visiting the UK. How low can the UK go? If our leaders succumb to this rubbish from UK, they should be ready for more humiliation to come as this won't be the last. Trust me. GEJ and other politicians must be ready to pay £50,000 Bond to enter (paradise) UK in the nearest future. My solution, instead of retaliating by introducing £5000(which is nothing anyway), I'll advice that we bring our currency exchange rate at par with the UK like it used to be, before IMF came to destroy our economy. If the UK economy is at its lowest now, and the Nigerian economy at its highest(irrespective of the mismanagement of funds by our leaders), how come the BP sterling (£) is still about 250 times as powerful than our Naira. The advantages of making the Naira at par with £ are; (1) It'll automatically reduce the desperation of Nigerians wanting to travel abroad for greener pastures. (2) More money for Nigerians to spend abroad e.g Nigerians can afford to pay the £3000 bond by just paying N3000 like they use to in the early 60s till late 70s. (3)Corruption will reduce (4)High increase of employment (5)Fair trade (6) Many other advantages Note: There will be some disadvantages like sanctions, boycotts etc from developed power but unlike Zimbabwe, Nigeria has everything from human resources to mineral sources. With this, Nigeria will be greater than China. God bless Nigeria. |

To all those saying that Abiola's family had forgiven Al-Mustapha, you'll agree with me that, you cannot forgive someone for the SIN they have not committed. In other words, the Abiola family believed Abacha through Al-Mustapha killed Kudirat Abiola and if the family said they have forgiven him, then so be it. However, does the Abiola family's forgiveness of Al-Mustapha change the fact that she was murdered on Lagos soil? The LASG took Al-Mustapha to court for assasinating Kudirat on its soil, therefore it has the final say whether to go to the supreme court or not. This is what responsible govt do all over the world for JUSTICE to prevail. It's so unfortunate that we youths of today always see everything through the lens of politics. |
WARNING TO ALL LADIES THAT LOVES WEARING HAIR EXTENSIONS (1) Do you know the source of the hair you are attaching to your hair? (2) Do you know that it's possible you might be wearing hair extensions that contains the hair of a dead person? (3) Do you know that most of these hair extensions were hair sacrificed to satan by Indians in their hindu temples. (4) Do you know some poor children are been exploited & paid peanuts in Russia in order for them to part with their hair. (5) Some of these hair were taken from rubbish/bins. Some may even belong to mad women (6) You will agree with me that,by attaching other peoples hair to your hair, indirectly, you are telling God that you don't like/appreciate the hair he has given you(coveteousness) (7) Lastly, appreciate what God has given you and stop embarrassing yourself in the name of fashion/beauty. You are naturally beautiful & wonderfully made by God.Don't try to be someone else especially like white women. Believe it or not, these people envies you as black women. Peace Please read this: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-1036155/Why-Ill-wear-hair-extensions-pop-star-Jamelia.html |
I don't think I've seen the picture of GEJ & OBJ in suit before? I understand that OBJ is covering is big belle with the Agbada thing but what about GEJ? I mean he's a Phd holder for crying out loud. Even if it's once in a while. The cowboy hat sometimes makes people not to take him serious. I believe he won't be wearing his cowboy hat everyday if he's in the military or works in a bank or a medical doctor. For me, wearing suit to office is more professional and formal than wearing Agbada etc |
Sir Gbawe, Akanbi_edu et al, pls kindly stop wasting your precious time on that guy. By replying him with thousands of words, you are helping the guy toi achieve his objective which is to derail this lovely thread. Like Gbawe said, even a 4 year old knows that the guy is an incurable liar. So pls, you guys should keep sharing information like the one Posted by Sir Gbawe above where Gov Amosun hosted the likes of Ireland president,Fashola,Wole Soyinka et al for massive industrialisation of Ogun State. You won't believe how much you guys are opening a lot of peoples' eyes politically. Pls let's not make the same mistake we made in 2011 again by joining issues with these comedians. Thank you. |
naptu2: True. In fact all the bickering that's been going on is rather unfortunate. This should have served as an opportunity to have a national policy on the welfare of these people. We could have laid down protocols that govern the repatriation of these people, federal aid to states that have welfare programmes in place, etc.On point bro. It's unfortunate considering the amount of time & energy been wasted by youths of this country on forums, newspapers etc about whether it's right or wrong for another state to send destitutes, lunatics & physically challenged people back to their state of origin. And the politicians keep taking advantage of this stupidity of ours by politicising this important issue (at the expense of the poor masses that really needs help) instead of coming together to tackle it head on. |
naptu2: The Lagos State Government is building skills acquisition centres, providing loans and mortgage facilities, building destitutes homes and hospitals, establishing farms and helping the homeless to establish farms and repatriating those that want to return to their home states.Ofcourse I know bro. Imagine if every state is as serious as LASG about this issue. |
Is there any state in the country without destitutes, lunatics, disable people etc What is the Federal govt, House of Assembly(legislators) and Judiciary doing to help these sets of vulnerable people in our society? Until we are serious and start helping these people especially those with mental & physical disabilities, we'll continue to have them on our streets cos they've got no other way to survive than begging. Until each state govt take this issue seriously, they'll continue to get embarassed daily. Is it not surprising that all of our legislators, judiciary and even our president are all playing the 'ostrich' with all the noise coming from our Igbo brothers? They all know how sensitive the issue is hence, they all kept mute as long as it's not affecting their own benefits/allowances. These are the people that collect all the allowances and benefits you can think of in the world as politicians but they refuse to make a provision for those that can't even work. Where's even the work we are talking about? The solution is that each local govt should pay these vulnerable people some kind of monthly disability benefit, starting from those without arms and legs. |
taharqa2: Any New Cop that opens shop any where in Nigeria (esp for those Big Cops) has more to do with d FEDERAL GOVERNMENT than d State Govts of those States d Cops are sited. Collaboration bw both Govts, YES; but d FEDs take d largest slice. By far..... Just making this clarification for sake of d Chief Resident HYPOCRITE on NL, who has already commented here. He knows himself Comedian |
I think the opinion is that it may be more electorally effective to neutralize the apathy towards Buhari in the South than risk presenting a new choice that may be a hard sell in the North- Gbawe Sir Gbawe you are 100% correct. I share the same view. And God willing, come 2015, we are coming out in full force unlike 2011. NB: Pls can I just add that you are one of the reasons why I still post on NL. Too much rubbish going on these days on this forum. I 'dey gbadun' your unbiased analysis |

(1) 72 virgins for men, (2) up to four women for men and as if that is not enough, (3) now muslim men are allow to marry under-age girls(haba! Children). Why can't muslim women also marry under-age boys? Ok let's agree with (1) and (2) above but (3). No wonder there are lots of diseases and deaths among northern female teenagers |
chidindufrank: Good for them. But nobe by harvard oOn point. At the end of the day, she's still doing yes Ma'am/ yes Sir to PEJ and GEJ ( both Uniport graduates Biology/Zoology respectively). So, I agree with you, it's not by Harvard alone... |
Gov. Amaechi is like a tiny naughty fly on GEJ's b*lls. Tiny as it is (as described by Doyin Okugbe), I bet GEJ will not want to use a sledge-hammer to kill it. If anything bad should happen to that man called Amaechi with his security been withrawn systematically by the powers that be, then GEJ will know that even the mad man on the street has a family. Enough said. |
I'm beginning to agree with the school of thought that said this is PDP / GEJ new strategy to hold on to power in 2015. At the Nigerian Governor's forum election: Governor Jonah Jang lost to Gov. Amaechi yet, he was declared the winner and fully endorsed by the president. Just yesterday at the Rivers state house of assembly, five dishonourable members of the house with their thugs attempted to impeach the speaker of the HOA but for the quick response of the governor. Yet, we've not heard a single word from the presidency(Am I surprised) Only God knows how many of these criminal acts will occur before 2015 election. Come 2015, I hope we won't see INEC being forced to declare GEJ as the winner if for instance he lost in 24 states and won just 12. Pls we don't want to be JANGularised. |
superior1: How will Jona-dumbo win the Presidential election when he is even afraid of his party's primary election. He doesn't want to be JANGulairised? ![]() |
Eko Atlantic: Waa Gbayi omo Edo, the people I see crying fowl are those that they and their families have been cut off from the national cake. What's the essence of having them as representatives when their sole aim is to carry enough Ghana-must-go bags as possible for their personal consumption and never for the people they claimed to be representing. When the Ota farmer was in charge for good eight years, what are the benefits his people had over others? Seizing Lagos fund to proof superiority, imposing incompetent shameless bleaching old man like Akala to govern the Pace setter state,... This is why I'll always be proud of the Yoruba Nation. An average Yoruba man will always, say it as it is, no matter whose ox is being gored. One love. |
O ye my people of Lagos, Fear not this weather forecast by BBC or whoever. I know your enemies are waiting for a disaster to befall you. They pray day and night for your downfall. Even though you've always been good to them by accommodating them. Yet, they are unhappy. They forgot that the LORD, God Almighty is the creator of hurricane. Hear this my people. The LORD GOD Almighty will turn this HURRICANE to SUGARCANE for you. And your enemies shall come back and beg as usual. Fear not. PEACE. ![]() |
Nice cleaning of the President and 1st Lady Mr Ibu (or is it Mr Obuah). Welldone ![]() |
phreakabit: Yeah! I bet there's some hidden catch to this. . . If ther is it's definitely gonna have something to do with his pro-f@g movement. Faggo presidoMy brother, I salute you for your wisdom. I read through most comments and can only Can't you open your eyes and see what this rubbish is all about. SMH |
Gov. Fashola's construction of Lekki Greenfield Refinery is now making more sense to me. It has a double advantage of proximity to source of crude oil and the market. Welldone BRF. Eko for show. ![]() |
I think Patience Ebere Goodluck Jonathan will make a very good president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. |
These people should pls not bring kidnapping to Lagos abeg. They should let it stay wherever they came from. This is what happens when people come to NL writing rubbish about how their brothers came to Lagos with no money, pair of slippers and rag clothes and, after sometime, they bought N300 Million land in VGC, own houses, cars, warehouses etc without knowing what they do for a living in Lagos. Anyway, for those of you still out there, who are still mapping out how to come to Lagos to commit crimes like kidnapping,'adultnapping',armed robberies etc, be warned. This is LAGOS. |
I can only imagine what this woman can do if she's the president of Nigeria. By now, the likes of Amaechi & co would've been silenced. |
