PoliticsRe: Who Is A Lagosian? by olivertwist: 3:42pm On Sep 26, 2012
Some people need to understand that there's a difference between State of Origin & Place of Birth. The benefits accrue to both are also different, at least in the Nigerian context.

For instance, my parents are from Abia, I cannot say my state of origin is Borno just bcoz I was born in Maiduguri. Borno is just my place of birth, Abia state is my state of origin where I can claim all Abia indegene rights. But not Borno except there's a constitution change 2moro.

The real lagosians know themselves. They don't have to make noise. They know their history & their culture.

If you are a true Lagosian, you'll be surprised that even your Oba {king} or one of his chiefs will know your father just by mentioning your surname & family house. Enough said.

PoliticsRe: Senators Challenge Tinubu For Seeking Senate Scrapping by olivertwist: 5:26pm On Sep 23, 2012
Ndoma-Egba said,
Tinubu’s suggestion runs contrary to the logic of bicameral legislature.

“In Senegal, although they are multi ethnic, they are religiously homogenous. It is not the same with the situation with Nigeria.

On the issue of the cost of governance, the total budget of the National Assembly is N150billion, which is just 3per cent of the national budget.

“It is a fraction of what we have spent on fuel subsidy which is now over N2trn; it is a fraction of what is yet to be accounted for in the pension’s funds. So, 3 per of the national budget cannot be the problem.
So in other words, because N150 Billion is a fraction of what has been looted under the disguise of fuel subsidy then, it is right for you to steal as much as you can. The more fuel subsidy looted, the more money for the National Assembly to look the other way. Averagely, each senator (109) and member of house of reps (360) will get,

N150,000,000,000/469= N320,000,000 per year for doing absolutely nothing, not even preventing the N2 Trillion subsidy fuel corruption.

SMH. Useless bastards.

Christianity EtcRe: Why No Riots Over Jesus's Wife Story? by olivertwist: 11:17am On Sep 22, 2012
.....to the point of the post, it should be expected that Christians will react in outrage that the image of Jesus was tarnished by such a blasphemous revelation. The revelation was made by followers of Jesus. Who should this outrage be directed against?

Muslims do not riot and go wild when one of their own blaspheme against Mohammed. Its only when its done by non-muslims that they react this way.

In your family if your sister or brother insults your parent it is less offensive than when an neighbor insults your parents.......and you show your displeasure to the neighbor, right? This behavior is valid for all of mankind.

America may not go on rampage for Jesus but they surw went wild when France refused to support Bush in attacking Iraq. They brought out french wine and wasted them on streets and renamed french fries to freedom fries.

So what im saying is this behavioral pattern of becoming enraged when something we hold dear in our hearts is violated is a human trait, it is human nature to do so. What is sacred to you may not be sacred to me......what is patriotism ti me may not be a symbil if patriotism to you. We live and die by ideologies......it is human nature.
Pls,I didn't really get the bolded part. A neighbour saw you insulting your parents and did same to them and you're annoyed? You treat your parents like crap but you want your friends to treat them like diamonds. Helloooooooo undecided

gboss4sure: I know for sure that had it been GEJ that made this law all you youroba guys would have been criticing him as clueless but as far as its Fashola it is good even when the penalty of the law is against the law of the land.

You don't seize another mans property to sell it, the should fine those that broke the law and give them up to 2 months to pay up and take their property and if they fails to pay within that 2 months then the property will be aunctioned
My friend, we are talking about driving on the wrong side of the road i.e facing upcoming vehicles in a one way road. Do you drive at all? Pls, forget all these talk about GEJ. We all can see how he's handling the DANA aviations disaster. It takes a very tough person to make a tough decision and stand by it. How can a federal minister said the committee they set up made a mistake by revoking DANA aviations operating license just few months after the disaster, when the family of the victims are still mourning their loved ones.

We all know the minister has been bribed one way or the other. So, how do you want us to take GEJ serious. I bet you, GEJ cannot make this type of laws we are seeing in Lagos because he himself cannot abide by it. Have you seen the first lady visit to Lagos before?
PoliticsRe: Lagos To Auction Seized Bullion Van, Truck by olivertwist: 9:28am On Sep 22, 2012
I think making lawbreakers pay enormous fees is perfectly fine.

But confiscating the property outright...I mean, what if it is a $100,000 vehicle. Do I really deserve to lose that car because I went over the speed limit slightly, for example?

The punishment needs to fit the crime, not vastly exceed it.
It's like you place more value on your car than the life of other road users.
PoliticsRe: Lagos To Auction Seized Bullion Van, Truck by olivertwist: 9:24am On Sep 22, 2012
Eko Ile: Killing other people because you drove on the wrong side of the road is not only extreme, its fatal and even your fine and vehicle can not replace the lives lost. Saying any law is extreme is really pointless especially when the consequence of that law is known to you and you thumbed your finger at that law anyways. You lose your car because you are a law breaker, not because of some extreme law. There is nothing more extreme than a lawless society where people live like jungle animals and intentionally disobey every law insight.
Thank you.

“The mistake of 1914 has come to light. The new estate called Nigeria should be an estate from our great grand father, Othman Dan Fodio. We must ruthlessly prevent a change of power. We must use the minority in the North as willing tools, and the South as conquered territories and never allow them to have control of their future.”

- Alhaji Ahmadu Bello. Reacting to the 1914 amalgamation by the British.

This is why I laugh whenever I hear ignorant people say power is in the south because of a figure head president that can be wasted at anytime. Tinubu knew what he was saying but ignorant people will not understand. He knows that real power lies in the hands of the northerners. From presidency, to senate, to HOR, to military, police, civil service, economy.

We are always quick to refer to US and UK upper and lower legislative systems but are we not just practising their system in theory? SMH

Assuming Bakassi was the only oil-producing area in Nigeria in 2002, would they{FG} have conceded it to Cameroun so easily?

With the new facts emerging, a good govt will do everything possible to appeal at least to show that they care for the Bakassi people who will rather be Nigerians than Camerouns.

I think the Bakassi people should just accept their fate and move on instead of forcing their way back to Nigeria that doesn't seem to care whether they are in or out.

PoliticsRe: Steer Clear Of Orient Petroleum, Anambra Youths Warn Kogi, Enugu States by olivertwist: 11:01am On Sep 18, 2012
billante: You guys should stop being childish for once and look at dis issue critical and mature! Even obi is being childish about this!
Am anambarian to start with and after studing dis issue for a some time now, in all honesty these are d facts I have gotten from d whole issue.

1. Orient petrolume was given an oil prospecting license by fG that covers the almost d whole anambra basin, this basin covers anambra enugu kogi delta and edo states.

2.Orient is fixing a modula refinery at aguleri-otu which is in anambra state (not yet completed)

3.Orient has been drilling oil wells all over d basin i mentioned above...they are currently working on five wells 2 in anambra state 2 in enugu state and 1 in ibaji in kogi state.

4. The one dat is presently produce about 2000 barrels of oil daily is the one in ibaji in kogi state, the other wells are still being explored but haven't started gushing out crude oil.

5.Orient is currently storing these oil produce in d ibaji oil well in barges at d banks of d anambra river in anticipation of refining them once the modular refinery they are fixing in aguleri-otu is completed, they are also planning to start selling d oil if more are produced from other wells dat are being currently explored.

From d facts I listed above you can honestly without ethnic baised mind say that anambra is not yet an oil producing state! Kogi state is,
Anambra and enugu state will soon be cause there are oil in their wells but they are still being worked on to start producing.

So in tecnical terms the president declared the wrong state an oil producing state on the 30 august 2012... for the argument that because anambra people/govt has being the only people that has invested billions in orient doesn't make them oil producing yet, they will be but not yet! Another thing is that because you help your landlord renovate or reconstruct his house doesn't make u the owner of d house.

Oil is on d exclusive right of the federal govt and 13% derivation fund of d 2000 barrels being produced in ibaji oil well should rightly be paid to kogi, and not forgeting, kogi should have being the one declared oil producing state by the president on the 30th aug.....the only money dat anambra should be getting from the ibaji oil well is the percentage profit they are entitled to through their investment in orient petrolume. Because orient is suppose to be getting 45% or 55% of d oil sales depending on the oil sharing plan they entered with the federal govt.

Solution:

Whether anambra like it or not, kogi state is the owner of d oil being currently produced now and are entitiled to 13% derivation fund and should also be decalared oil producing state whether they have invested in orient or not....a simple case is, bayelsa is entitiled to oil being produced in their land and recieves money without investing one kobo in agip or shell.
**********
These makes sense to me. And from what I've heard and read from both parties, no one is disputing the above facts. However, the big QUESTIONS are:

1} How will Kogi state be compensated for the oil been taken from their state?

2} What makes a state an oil producing state? Is it by building a refinery or by having oil deposits?
