So got a medium action rod mid-2017 shipped from abroad and it was a blast ... Being enjoying every bits of the adventure with it

Four different states: osun, oyo, lagos, kwara

Six different fishing spot: Ede water reservoir, river at Ogo-oluwa osogbo[Google map to find], asa river extension, Agba dam both in ilorin, Lagos beach, lagos jetty.

While at the Lagos beach, used my medium action rod and caught one decent grouper, and used a bigger bait to catch bigger fish - Big mistake of the day .... Caught a big fish alright, but that sucker peeled my line and got me stuck in the rock.... Thinking I can tire it out .... Broke my rod manuevring around it.

The way lithium behaves on the growatt is incredible and different from Lead based batteries, the battery stops taking charge all together.

I believe it's was originally based on Expert variants but they did in house designed and changed things to suit them ....as no float bug or whatsoever for now .... All installation done with growatt is performing brilliantly with no issue So far.

So I had my 8s1p array changed to 4s2p and acquired a 24V 3KVA Growatt hybrid inverter through @Olopan of Rendezvous Solar, to replace my SMKSOLAR. He got it for me at a price less than those I got elsewhere, and the delivery was swift.

Growatt is notably faster in charging (maybe because it doesn't require minimum input voltage of 120v from pv).




I set bulk voltage to 27.6 and float at 27.
During charging, it goes up to 27.8, sometimes 28 volts but never above that. When it gets full, the inverter basically stops taking in any power whatsoever. At this point, the pv input reads zero; meter on the battery reads zero amps. These only change when I increase load significantly.

The inverter meanwhile, apparently consumes only little power and this is significant for someone like me with small battery bank. I attempted running my 75W fridge overnight when I was using smksolar, the inverter tripped off before 2am. I have run the same fridge twice overnight and the lowest reading on Growatt is 26.2V.

On the other hand, the load reading on the growatt 24v 3kva inverter is false and the fan, although not too noisy, doesn't stop. Also, the inverter has an app which I have not succeeded in activating.

Is there a separate device with which one can read the input and output parameters?

I'm curious, is Growatt Axpert variant? I think if it is, it's arguably better than the other variants.

From my personal experience I have discovered tier 1 trump over tier 2 in

1. Daily harvest and yearly harvest. Even if they are both the same capacity

2. They hit peak production for several times of a daily power production ..

3. Many tier 1, I observe works 58-73% efficiency of their power when at maximum and more predominant around 60-63% ... Could be more but maybe not observed while tier 2 works between 45-65% maximum that I have observed but mostly 50-55% is predominately constant

Curious to see what the "tier 1" generation log looks like. I have both prime(yingli cousin) 380x7 and sunfit 280x9 with orientation a little bit more on the side of prime yet both are doing 3x easily. They do burst to 4x occasionally on sunny days.

Except you want to get this items yourself, no pro-installer or company will sell these items for you at expected rates ...

And some of the prices above are a bit off, mostly undershot

And since you said money isn't a problem in earlier post .... All you need is just 5 bricks of sweet 2.4KWh pylontech and you have 10.5KWh ...

Which means in 6 - 7 years you will have change your lead based battery 2- 3 times and with ever increasing dollar rate ... The cost of will be like 3-4 times more if you had gone with lead based batteries

Don't have a early victory lap yet I meant usable storage for Lead based so you need like minimum of 8 batteries

As regards your storage, you will need minimum of around 9.6KWh to run your preferred loads

Problem is 3KW inbuilt charge controller will not fully charge your battery so inclusion of an extra charge controller is needed but with lithium batteries you will need a 5KW inverter hybrid to slap the solar panel on without an problem.

A 3KW hybrid will do the job for you and to better rock the boat well ..... With regard to solar harvest .... A Tier 1 panel will be a recommendation but incase budget is tight ... Tier 2 fit pass too

I've been going through this thread and I'm confused.

What sort of setup would I need (solar) to power this AC?

I only need it on for 6 hours when I'm asleep

The rest of my load is negligible I use 2 - 2.5Kwh a day for 12 Hours of grid power - Refrigerator, Computers etc.


How many panels would be sufficient?
How many batteries + capacity?
I assume a Hybrid inverter would work but would 3Kw be okay?

Is there anything else I should know?

I notice a recent trend of Axpert based tech or clones having board issues and complete shutdown, while this is sad to the users and a loss of investment

It is important to note that many of these inverters with LVD have always and have being surviving Lead based batteries before now without any issue.

My pick of the whole scenario is that all attested testimony of faulty Axpert variants I noticed here have always being with DIY Lithium based batteries with BMS .

In reality all information to draw a conclusion from what happened with the battery mostly goes down with the inverter when it went bad .... But one thing to note is that

I believe that the BMS does something that indirectly hurts the board or electronic components built-in.

My own solution to the DIY Lithium owners will be to lose some energy storage by increasing their LVD to be above what the BMS will do normally so the battery retains some energy while only your inverter goes offline.

And since it's hybrid ...once the sun comes on the battery gets juiced up.

I'd advice that you get the following accurately

Power consumption of all you have listed below and state the hours you'd like each to run for either day or night.

This way your storage capacity and inverter capacity will be determined.

Else I am afraid you might end up with a half baked solution you won't like. So better to have a road map for things now and work towards it.

Good afternoon. Please, I want a solar structure as well as batteries for my household appliances( TV, Fans, bulbs, deep freezer, fridge and other minor appliances). But I want the fridge and freezer to be always on (24/7) while every other appliance can be average of 12 hours per day. I'm thinking 4 batteries of 12v200Ahr, 6 mono crystalline panels of 200W and an inverter of 12V2kva will do the job for me.

Easy fix

Loosen the back of the fan and located the moving parts, get a good oil that won't evaporate on heating of the coils and carefully apply it on them.

Couple back gently and power it up.

Except you have grid available for up to 18 hours cumulatively then it's no problem at all.

Good morning house, I was recently faced with a challenge. I have a 24v 5.4kwh LiPO4 bank and a 600amp 24v used Ritar battery bank. Tested alone the LiPO4 did not meet my daily need. It will usually go off around 2-3am (when I personally need it most!) and the used batteries much earlier at around 12mn at times.
I was discussing this challenge with a friend and he told me he connected his LiPO4 and SMF bank together(in parallel) to the same busbar and that has resolved his problems.
So I checked online https://community.victronenergy.com/questions/19981/mixing-lead-acid-and-lithium.html and realized many others have tried it with the pro and cons, different charging and discharging profiles mainly.

So I connected 200amp of the Ritar to my lithium bank to test run. I also used 28.2v bulk and 27.4 float charging profile on my inverter and CC. All connected yesterday evening. I was able to use the system overnight and even ironed with it this morning, however I was aware there was grid supply at some points overnight and therefore I can't say if it works or not.

It is early days yet. The risks are shortening the lifespan of the lithium and undercharging the lead acid but based on what seems to be happening as described by others, due to the BMS, lithium charges and discharges first and the lead acid charges and discharges last.

I will update the house on my experimentations and hopefully, no big bang episode!

Easier if you have your connection reconfigured

Assuming you used 150W which has up to 23V as VoC

Choice is all yours to make.

I may have go SMK again or get a standalone 24V wall mount inverter and a separate CC.

That may be possible but very unlikely. The sound was reminiscent of a capacitor forced to discharge.

What the inverter does now is produce a massive spark on trying to connect it to the battery. Sometimes it shorts off the battery. The sparks are big enough that they almost washed off the threads of the battery terminal.

Yes I can it but "never" Efficiently because you need like 600W for every 200Ah of battery and considering you want to use 4 batteries

600W x 4 = 2400W ideally
But in reality you might want to over size not more than 150% if using Tier one or 200% of charge controller if using tier 2.

All the above depends on your pocket, grid availability, and last aim of use etc.

Checked throught your recent post, if you have not bought that inverter I will recommend Growatt for you can handle over sizing too and sure will charge your battery with no stress.

Sorry about your inverter going bad but the scenario you explain feels rather weird to me.

The PV wasn't say energized like when the sun was up ....so power wasn't suppose to be coming in.

I have been to site with no PV disconnect for conventional charge controller and disconnecting the PV while operating " though bad" never had a fireback or otherwise .

My educative guess is that the PV input and BATTERY might have a kinda common bus .... So maybe on removing the cable some tiny strands bridge the +ve and -ve.

Just my opinion. .....

I was going to make these adjustments but it looks like I have carelessly fried my new hybrid pet.

So I was going to shorten the PV cable last night but forgot to switch off the inverter. Breakers I ordered are yet to arrive so there is no breaker between the inverter and PV. There was a loud sparkling noise the moment I put a screw driver to unscrew the PV.

Sent it to repairs but I'm guessing the board is gone and I might be on the look out for a new 3.5kva hybrid.

For a PWM that works on pulse modulation, something slightly above the Battery voltage is considered the sweet spot.
E.g
18V for 12V
30V for 24V
50+ for 48V

Anything out of the above equals a system that is inefficient and poorly designed.

I have seen lots of discussion on pv setups, 2S2P,6S2P....... I think such setups cant work for Pwm cc and simple inverters with either 12v/24v operational voltage.
I am asking this because i have come across a system like that the client said failed. I noticed pv was reading about 56v for a 24v inverter. Going up, is saw that 3pc of 100w were connected in series pv wires were corroded with whitish powder, cc was bad, batteries were overheating too and one was melting sef.

The client had to rewire the pv wire since they were badly damaged, buy new cc, change batteries, opt for a 12v system, and has enjoyed his system since then.

Having two panels connected in series for four groups and connecting together their positive and negative terminals using a four way MC4 combiner all the way to the charge controller
