FoodRe: Nigeria’s Love For Norwegian Stockfish by olujastro: 11:48pm On Jan 26, 2018
The irony of life is that I have never seen dry stock fish in Norway but when I went home for this past Christmas all my friends and neighbors were demanding stock fish from me like say I be fisherman.
I was recently told that the fresh fish we used to roast on Friday evenings last summer was stock fish.

hucienda:
Part of the reasons one laughs at fools down south who think they would easily unseat Buhari from folks who had been voting for him consistently one way since 2003 - and would all of a sudden, not vote for him in 2019. undecided

Y'all saw 'change' as 'change' while they, as the political astute ones attuned to how Nigerian federal politics is played, saw 'change' as 'power grab from the south to the north, four years ahead schedule'.

Because of that miscalculation by the political naiveté of the south, the north would most likely that not, be at helm of the country from 2015 to 2023 at the earliest - or 2027 at the latest - except something out of the ordinary occurs.

Ditto what happened in the battle for Speaker in 2011 (where SW politicians sabotaged one of their own) and 2015 (where SE and SS politicians returned the favour from the fallout of the presidential elections).

The south is politically divided - and that is to the advantage of the north.

SE and SS will deliver block votes as usual.
SW will be 50:50 as usual.
NE and NW will deliver block votes as usual.

The real game changer is the middle-belt. Whoever wins there will become president next May.
You forgot that the NW votes alone will counter that of the SE and SS.
While more states in the NC will naturally go for Buhari/APC like Niger and Kwara.
Plus SW voters are more sophisticated. I foresee a low voters turnout in the SW if they have to choose between Buhari and Atiku. But a larger number of people who vote will easily go for Buhari ahead of Atiku in the SW.

2019 is not too far again Mr man.
We will see if it is those anti Buhari and pro PDP that are more or pro Buhari and anti PDP.
Even though I'll choose Buhari again ahead of Atiku any day. Can you honestly say Buhari has lived up to our expectations considering his extremely slow pace of getting things done? Or are you more interested in the politics than in development?
From slow pace of making simple appointments to slow pace of submitting budgets and lobbying to get it passed and signed, slow release of funds for infrastructural developments, slow or no response to burning national issues like herdsmen killings, slow pace of addressing the NDA vandals which hurt our economy for almost a year till Osinbajo acted, slow or no reaction to non performing appointees, etc.
I expected the distribution companies to have given a matching order long ago to deliver or get kicked out. I think we deserve better than this. Sadly, no candidate is any better at the moment.

PhonesRe: Infinix Note 4/4 Pro Official Discussion Thread by olujastro: 5:28pm On Jan 20, 2018
I bought the Note 4 pro some weeks ago and I noticed the sound quality when using earpiece is really poor. I used both the original earpiece and my superior quality headphone, the sound quality is still very poor compared to when using it on my old Note 2.
I have tried with all possible bass settings on the music player and the result is the same. What can I do?

Pls I need a good economist is the house to explain how and why this increase in foreign reserve /low import is not translating to a appreciation of value of the naira to a dollar. I think corruption is at its lowest point, import have drastically reduced, we have a better balance of trade we should be looking at our $1 to N200 .pls I, m a novice so just explain. Thanks
It's due to the fixed exchange rate system Nigeria operates as opposed to a floating exchange rate system determined by supply and demand of fx in the market.
If we had a floating system, the naira would probably gain a little against the USD when we have better fx inflows and reserves. But with a fixed system, the naira falls in bad times and doesn't rise in the good times from historical charts.

Took a long time to read through.

Like you, I'm planning my return to Nigeria in a little over a year from now. However, your N10m is not sufficient to feel financially safe in Nigeria. Especially because it's filled with lots of dishonest people who will always look for how to cheat you when you are trying to set up or run a business there.
All those you find here insulting the country and the government are people most of whom cheat others or cut corners regularly, but all they see as the problem is "our leaders".
Your plan should be to have at least N50m. You mustn't run a physical business to be rich. That's where Nigeria and it's people will drain your soul. Learn to be a good investor. Learn to have your money work for you always.
Hard work doesn't pay much, smart work does.

The difference is Ambode took over from an already functional state that had gotten a proper foundation for 16yrs so continuity was easy and seamless while Buhari took over from an over-looted country that had almost been brought to its knees for 16yrs by the other party.

Someone help me here its urgent. Most Nigerian schools don't send original certificates only transcripts, so I need to know if anyone here was able to send theirs (certificate).
Do not send your original copy of your certificates to them. They thrash them after a year. Send a copy, that's the instruction. Either a coloured photocopy or a scanned copy is what you need to send.
Your school will send your transcript while you are to send your certificates or statement of result depending on which you have.

All of you that are complaining, how many dope Nigerian singers/ rappers do you know or support? Folks don't practise what they preach anymore. Do you know Our own Blaqbones, a rapper that launched his career on Nairaland here? Do you know rappers like Boogey, Eclipse, Luluraps, AQ, Mojeed, Santi, e.t.c? To you know singers like Aramide, Sir Dauda, Johnny Drille, Tomi Thomas, Tay Aiwar, Nonso Amadi, Odunsi, Ric Hassani, Morell, Funbi, Aduke, and several other dope underground artistes? No! They remain underground because you lots don't appreciate nor hype good music. Y'all prefer pangolo music. Stop complaining. We the few little know these good musicians and appreciate them. Follow them on social media to encourage them. You are what you listen to. Music is a taste. Going through your playlist can give a slight insight into your personality.

By the way, I'm a music producer and a singer. I learnt everything all by myself. You can do it too. Visit my blog in my signature below for tutorials to get you started. I'll be dropping a new philosophical song on here before the week runs out, hope you'll support good music then.
It's simply because Nigerians don't listen to lyrics, all they care about is a club-danceable beat even if you just say rubbish on it.
Unfortunately, the pangolo musicians with tight beats end up getting all the shows, so much that those who dish out good music get tempted to switch to pangolo sounds just to survive and make money.
I've been a big fan of Johnny Drille since I heard his songs this summer. But my top 5 Nigerian artistes remain MI, Banky W, Timi Dakolo, Tiwa Savage and Tuface.

Waow,I never knew this post would make FP,many thanks to everyone who has contributed.
The truth is its because of the kind of parent they are,the type that sold their only gold chain and wristwatch so as to pay our school fee, they literally worked their butt off .
None of us attended any public school,I had all the textbooks I needed in school even the unimportant ones.
People used to think I came from a wealthy home while I was in school cos they wouldn't spare any expenses.
With this,I feel so indebted to them, this year is gone already. My prayer is for me to get a well paying job and for my siblings to graduate and start earning also so they can also help out. Asides that,I love them too much and see them lacking and I won't be able to help out,I have decided to join either a corporative or a thrift,@least that would make it easier to save since the money won't be in my account.
The one problem I have with her is she loves her children more than herself,my younger bro was going back to school and she went ahead to collect a loan that she pays weekly for him to get new clothes, personal items and foodstuff. I was soo damn angry when I heard, how can someone collect a loan for personal items when its not for business. I once gave her money to get some personal item for herself,my younger ones were having their school party and she gave them to buy shoes for themselves. She doesn't even care about her self and I feel its becoming too much. If one wants to be successful, then one has to deprive his/her self of certain things.
I don't know if you know what bitcoin is but I wish you do so you can benefit greatly from this advice.
Bitcoin is the best place to save money right now especially for those in Nigeria who earn Naira that keeps losing value by the day. Its price is projected to continually rise as it's far from its peak potential.
Instead of saving money in the bank I just use it buy bitcoin and leave it there. If there is an extremely urgent need for the money, I sell part of the bitcoin(which would have tremendously gained more naira than I bought it for) for cash.
You should really consider it and ask for help if necessary.
FamilyRe: Do Parents Have A Say In Our Financial Matters? by olujastro: 11:40pm On Nov 26, 2017
Windflower, you broke the first rule of "Never let your family members know how much you earn, else they'll form planning committee on your salary". They know how much you should have left each time and will always put eyes till it approaches zero.
Moving forward, learn to pay yourself first. Once I got my salary, the first thing I did was to transfer the amount I'm saving for that month into another account with no Internet banking access and Atm card.
Then I pay my mum her 'salary' which she appreciates cos it's higher than her own salary. She can appreciate it because she has no idea how much I earn as salary and it's usually more than enough for her to even save from. Once she does know your salary, she'll likely look down on it no matter the amount.
Lastly, you can never fulfill all their needs cos those needs will never finish. Learn to be strict now!
PhonesRe: Why You Need To Choose Infinix Over Samsung! by olujastro: 8:27pm On Nov 24, 2017
This thread just ended up confusing me more after my google search.
I use Infinix Note 2. Bought it in July 2016 and it's served me very well (especially charging time and battery wise) and it still works fine. I just want to buy another android phone because my phone gets slow once a while when I'm over using it and I suspect that it's due to the 1gb RAM. Perhaps it won't be hanging occasionally if it was 2gb RAM or more.
I can't even find a proper choice for a good android phone not more than 100k. I'm not so into gadgets and I'm not extravagant. I just want what works fine - battery life, charging time, usage speed, good camera. I don't care about big brand names as I don't do show off.
Any help?

goldedprince:
Mmm ok, I am actually not a Christian though. Your religion is just too contradictory and confusing
No it is not contradictory or confusing at all. The problem is Nigerians or Africans don't study (the Bible inclusive). And as a result, the pastors are given a free hand to dish out all the scriptural interpretations, punishments and rewards. It's only natural for gullible Christians to swallow what they are told by the pastors.
I have read the Bible almost twice, enough to know that it is as clear as air.
PhonesRe: Does The Use Of 'k' In Convos Really Signify Lack Of Interest? by olujastro:
Even as the K annoys me, the kk annoys me far more because it totally defies logic.
I thought the essence of K as used by lazy writers was to shorten OK. Then why spend same time typing kk when you can equally type the right word OK?
It's really annoying that even with recent keyboards which make typing in full much easier, lazy writers have refused to change.
As for Nigerian girls who initiate conversations and think it's your duty to keep it going, I just end it after my last reply or I confront them one day and tell them to only chat me up when they have regained their gisting creativity. Because it's not my duty to keep your conversation going even though I'm good at it.

This is one of the reasons the SouthEast always struggles to make even a tiny impact in politics at the national level. Myopic sentimentality, dislike for and inability to accommodate other tribes is at the heart of your political reasoning.
When people in other zones are debating developmental issues during elections, you guys and your politicians especially will be dishing out silly sentimental issues like..."ACN is a yoruba party" -Ohakim, "APC is aboki party". Tomorrow y'all will open your mouths to say you are marginalized at the national level, demanding for the office of the President or VP. As if it's an office to be dashed out to the most sentimental ethnic group.
I love my Igbo people, but honestly, I dislike their (quite a number of them) political reasoning.

..she doesnt lie. if you live in the uk for few years and returned back to Nigeria. you will noticed how ugly we are in this country.

when i spend a year outside the country. and returned back. i was shocked with the haggard and dirty looking faces of Nigerians on the street of lagos. everybody was just ugly in my eyes it took some months before it clears from my eyes yet again. if you have upgraded you smartphone then goes back to the former phone the kind of change you are going to notice that's what i am talking about.

the men and women ugly face and dull skin. everything was so messed up to the extent i was thinking to run back.

we are ugly in this part of the world. you need to travel alot to know this. it only because we have getting use to seeing our face and kind and we think we are beautiful and handsome. not just Nigerians but most sahara Africans.
It's simply the hot climatic condition of Nigeria and subsaharan countries. I wouldn't say I'm more handsome now. The only difference now is that the cold climate here has made my skin colour brighter than the girl's future.

This question is unnecessary. A naturally disrespectful woman will always show her true colours once she's richer than her man. While money will not likely change anything for a naturally respectful woman.

So know your woman before marrying her, that's all.
