TravelRe: Traveling To AUSTRIA – My Experience On A Virgin Passport! by olujastro:
Your post was interesting until I read where your friend said... "Guy, God don do am for you, no come back this country again".
Is that your plan, to not return on a visit visa? That'll be bad of you. It'll make it harder for other Nigerians to obtain visit visas to schengen.
In addition, Schengen is not the US, no hiding place in schengen. You better not try it. They'll find you and ban you for ten years.

I recommend you visit Budapest, Hungary if you have time. I was there two weeks ago. It's about 2.5hrs by bus from Vienna. You'll fall in love with it. I preferred it to Vienna by far.
It's built for tourism, super cheap and the Hungarian forint is like the naira.

What shall it profit you to misinform the public for cheap political scores?
This project started just last year.
OBJ did ground breaking ceremony in 2006 and abandoned it. Nothing was ever started.
While Osinbajo did the ground breaking in March 2017, and it's about to be completed.
Nigeria is making progress this time while haters are joblessly spreading falsehood on the Internet.

PoliticsRe: Police Aid 8 Of 30 Benue Lawmakers In Impeachment Move Against Ortom - This Day by olujastro: 2:26pm On Jul 31, 2018
Just when you thought that using minority members especially without forming quorum to impeach a governor would be a thing of the past, such disgraceful acts eventually raise their ugly heads again.
George Akume needs to drop this backward approach of using the APC controlled federal police to play politics. He should either impeach Ortom the right way or wait for 2019 to show his political strength in Benue through a better candidate.

They will never understand. Sanusi was like a prophet crying in the wilderness of what is to come in 2015 like John the Baptist, he was ignored. Okonjo Iweala did the same, she warned and according to her, "there was no political will to save" in order to forestall the impending economic disaster. Because of the coming elections in 2015.

Because the fools in Buhari's team could not highlight these facts and educate the people, it now looked like Buhari is the cause of this economic situation we now find ourselves.

Thank God, we did experience this situation under PDP. The situation would have been worse because of the PDP mentality(Share the Money)
The problem is that Nigerians are largely not educated enough about things like this. Lots of people are still illiterates. And even those who are educated are ignorant about what their local economy means.
Basic economic indices are things that high school students in western countries take for granted. But for us, we just want to pass exams in school, become doctors, lawyers or engineers and live happily ever after without learning in other areas of life.
Little wonder this economic crisis was tagged "Buhari Economy". People say things like.... Things have become hard under this Buhari economy. Lol
BusinessRe: Venezuela’s Bolivar Currency Worthless As Inflation Hits 1 Million Percent by olujastro:
Not surprised at this; a combination that happens when a country relies on revenue from commodities like oil and it crashes, and bad governance/corruption/mismanagement is the order of the day.

I always tell people that Nigeria has done very well economically compared to its colleagues that were victims of the same oil price slump; Angola and Venezuela. CNN's Amanpour specifically mentioned these 3 countries in 2014.

Before the 2014/15 oil prices crash:

1 USD = 100 Angolan Kwanza. Today it's = 255. (155% loss of value)
1 USD = N200. Today it's N360. (80% loss of value)
1 USD = 10 Vef. Today it's 120,000 Vef. (1,200,000% loss of value)

It’s easy to see where our currency would have headed if the massive looting was not halted in 2015.

It's time to grow a productive economy built on quality infrastructure and subsequently industrial boom, rather than an economic growth that was tied to high oil prices under PDP governments.

Nice.
Only God knows how desperate I am to see Nigeria develop massively in infrastructure.
Never in our history have we witnessed such massive infrastructural developments in Nigeria. Then I begin to wonder. What exactly did the PDP governments do for Nigeria in 16yrs other than looting the treasury dry?
This government is delivering this much on roads, rail, airports, housing, power, inland ports, etc. in less than 4yrs. Imagine what would happen in 8yrs or 16yrs!

Never again will those PDP guys ever gain access to our national treasury! People ask what's the difference between APC and PDP? APC is prodevelopment while PDP is prolooting and abandoned projects.

Nowenuse:
That to a large extent is because of state autonomy in the US. Every state controls it rescources and makes its own independent laws over there.

State/ Regional autonomy would have made Nigeria workable to a great extent.
It's not as straightforward as it sounds.
If each state controls its resources, nearly all the states in Nigeria apart from the Oil producing ones and Lagos will cease to function automatically. This means firing all the state workers in Ebonyi, Ekiti, Benue, Yobe, etc., millions of unemployed Nigerians back into the market, chaos all over the country.
Which president would want to be responsible for creating such mess under his tenure all in the name of starting afresh?
I agree that all states need to look inwards for their own resource tapping instead of waiting for FAAC. Every state has something to contribute, but unfortunately we only have lazy politicians in public offices in Nigeria.

That said, it was a smooth ride and extremely clean. We had about four stops before the airport. 1. Stadium. 2. Idu 3. One funny name like that. 4. Final destination Airport. I had to send a driver to wait for us at the airport to convey us back because the return trip was slated for 1.30pm. overall it is a great and good development. But we had a chat with the management and we were all shouting maintenance into their ears. Hopefully they listen.
I'd love to see some pics as well. I've searched for videos on YouTube of the metro in use to no avail. You should have taken pictures or videos of the ride excluding your face.

I do have suicidal thoughts sometimes

Don't know what it means

But sometimes, whenever I think about taking my life, my thoughts go to my dad, how he would feel. The pains he would go through, when I'm gone.
He doesn't even know that I have chronic asthma, and sleep apnea.
I hide this things from him.
I'm an introvert, I don't associate.
Lots of things are weighing me down.
Who am I Kidding, no one here gives a fuc.k
Now you've made a lot of friends in one day by just speaking out. smiley At least I don't have to reach out to you anymore.

Though I don't get why you refused to tell your folks about it. I mean it's not something to be embarrassed about. It's an illness, not something you brought upon yourself. Moreover, being introverted shouldn't apply to your family. Unless you are very certain that they can't help you in any possible ways which I doubt, or you feel they might use it against you.

We all have our issues we face. I'm facing mine too and my solution is almost near. It's taken me several years of patience and expenses to get here and I've learned a lot through personal research mostly online.
It's easy to think there's no solution to your problem but if you persevere, you'll get there eventually and it'll end with a smile.
Have a great life ahead of you.

TravelRe: Travel Freaks But No Money Get In Here Let's Talk by olujastro: 2:50pm On Jun 07, 2018
The thread says Travel freaks which sounds like Tourism but the comments indicate people just want to run away from Nigeria. shocked

If you want to go on tourism and have little money, then travel around West African countries. No need to spend money on visa or even passport. Just take the bus from Lagos and back. It should not cost you up to 6 digits in naira.

If you want to leave Nigeria, then you need tangible money for that. Your best bet is to go through study visa or skilled migration to Canada/Australia as it's almost impossible to get a job offer from a developed country while in Nigeria.

For study visa, your best option is to find countries that offer free tuition like Norway and Germany so you don't have to worry about the huge cost of tuition fees. You only have to show proof of funds for living expenses for a year.
So get a job, start a business to raise funds to leave Nigeria. Or get a family member as sponsor that can show proof of funds and lend you the required money.
From there you can begin your tourism in Europe across 26 schengen visa free countries.

Wish you all good luck in your travel quests.
TravelRe: Amazing Facts About Airlines And Travels. .. by olujastro:
18. European airlines are generally stingy with food. You have to pay for any meals or drinks with your debit card even if it's a three hour flight. Whereas airlines in Nigeria serve snacks and drinks for 45 minutes flight.

Couldn't agree more with number 10. I had a connecting flight one time in Dubai and had no clue how large the airport is. After trekking for over 30 minutes, I had to talk with airport security who took me to a free airport shuttle bus. The journey itself to my gate was 20 minutes by bus.

theamerican:
Whatever your point is, take it elsewhere. I'm clearly not interested in spoon-feeding anyone anymore by explaining simple things over and over. smiley
I've just spent my entire morning reading from the beginning and to be honest, that part is still confusing but I'll pass on it.

About Immigrating
No doubt Nigeria hasn't lived up to its potentials as a country. And deciding to leave Nigeria for greener pastures isn't a bad thing.
But it's only fair for people with professional jobs in Nigeria to know that immigrating means doing very difficult menial jobs that can break ones back for a living, and moving over to a life of uncertainty as an immigrant.
In many countries, not getting a job after studying means you have to return to your country. That's when the "criminality" in average Nigerians unveils itself and we begin to do anything illegal to remain there by force.

About Our Bad Treatment Outside
Is Nigeria the only backward country on earth experiencing bad governance?
Why are people from Benin, Togo, Kenya, Ghana, Uganda, etc. not ill treated at airports, or for travel visas, or abroad generally, as badly as Nigerians are treated?
Because Nigerians are the ones always are the forefront of doing criminal and illegal things outside Nigeria.
Because majority of Nigerians don't hesitate to do wrong just to get their way through situations, thereby spoiling the reputation of the good ones and the country at large.
We think we are sharp people with what I call Negative Smartness, so we must find another way out to circumvent any system.

About Nigeria
So Nigerian people is what is wrong with Nigeria.
Nigerians find it extremely convenient to blame the government, forgetting that Nigerian citizens in all spheres make life difficult for each other. For most people, the government is the President alone. All they see wrong about Nigeria is Buhari. Not the corrupt civil servants manning various positions, the legislators, the council chairmen, the judges, traders, etc.
The annoying thing about Nigerians is that, those who find it very convenient to do wrong and criminal things criticise the government the most. I have lots of "friends" as examples both here and in Nigeria.

About Our Politics
For the bitter 2015 election losers, their best phrase has become "Nigeria is a zoo". All they do is curse Nigeria since after 2015. I've seen a lot of it on this thread.
But it wasn't a zoo when Jonathan, OBJ and his party goons were looting the treasury with reckless abandon and not giving us a future to fall back on. Nigerians are largely ignorant honestly. They don't even know anything about their economic revenue sources, so they can't adequately hold the leaders accountable. The currency here also depreciated due to slump in oil prices and no one strangled the government.
The only thing I care about is for our infrastructure to be largely built and I'll probably return home. That's what I desire from any government in power for now, as Nigerians won't stop doing wrong and making the country more reasonable for the good ones to survive.

This was my post when I went to Nigeria during this past Christmas holiday...

The festive period is over, fuel queues automatically disappear. A few greedy filling station operators were able to make their Christmas money to the detriment of the remaining 180 million people.
Till December 2018 again for the next scarcity. Filling stations will as usual sell products at midnight at higher prices only to black market people, who adulterate the product with unknown liquid and resell at higher prices to fellow countrymen and also knock down their engines just to make quick money.
Govt receives the bashing while a few selfish people achieved their aim - A wonderful Christmas!
Everywhere you turn to you see people trying to make money by making others suffer; airport staff, passport office, electricity distribution companies, policemen at extortion points, traders selling fake items to unsuspecting customers, one car blocking the road and hindering hundreds from moving forward, road contractors, etc.
Each person only cares about himself and his pocket. The rest can suffer!
Go to other countries and see how people behave, then you know why such countries are functional.
Elections will come and people will start talking about parties and candidates, forgetting that even the best candidates have to deal with over 100 million selfish people who will do anything to keep their pockets increasing irrespective of how many other fellow citizens suffer from their actions.
What a wonderful people!

If you are 100% sure you are totally a different Nigerian who doesn't fit in to the wrong way of getting things done, please feel free to leave for your own sanity. You can return when majority of Nigerians are ready to do the right always.
