if that is your last option go ahead. Who will come and collect your money for plugging in a code from somewhere?

Hey, remember this is just for a review. No wars! Suggestions only.

@poster
If you find it too difficult to come up with a good layout, go search for boiler plates, look at different designs, mock up yours as you want then do your design. This way, you'll achieve something better.

Netskill:
let me hear it date and venue, it is my submission that instead of going on and on talking about the need. Please those interested in forging a headway using the WOA platform, start suggesting dates and possible venues.

its a faster way to run things that everyone keep saying its laudable without the necessary NEXT action.
Planning first before anything else when disorganized, it will look very childish and someone like you will never want that name heard since nothing good came out of it. Just little patience Netskill, ok?

I just didn't want to say anything about their trying to crucify someone for making mention of third party codes. One question I think I will ask them is "have they ever tried copying, pasting and editing at least a JavaScript code they used on their web before?" Those that uploaded them there know how time consuming it is to always recode what has been coded before. It is useless wanting to waste more time on inventing what has been rather than editing and adding more features. Well, Naija man likes suffering that is one good feature I noticed  tongue

@smartsoft
If the coding doesn't get better and you can't finish in good time, get a third party code and edit. Those that don't like it should send you the codes else,  lipsrsealed

Hey all ready for the task ahead, I'v read enough and thought about all these but have the following to contribute.

1. Are we about making a new website for Nigeria or what are we planning on working out?
2. What if the government gives no attention for like 3 years, will the project continue?
3. What is the guiding principle for this collab?

I have more ooo. Just want to get these settled first then more will follow suite.

When was the launch date?

Well, check through this webmaster's section for posts on this. It's was a topic on an old thread.

If you are still using the web installer, you can search for the standalone installer to save yourself more time used in installing.

@yawa and pie1ect

How did you both understand what I was driving at? I was just wondering at the name "WEBMASTER" and thought members of NL in the webmasters category could do justice to the name.

Finally, do you think NL should maintain the name WEBMASTERS for this category?  tongue

Jobs/VacanciesCareer Rather Than Job. by OmniPotens(op): 7:04am On Nov 05, 2008
I read and see many crying in a bid to secure employment daily. Most have carried their files in search of employment for years, yet nothing seems forth coming. Now the question, where do we go from here?

I've read alot from this section of this forum for long now. I feel for many who scout for the latest vacancy posts and start off sending employment letters.  sad  Not so good for our graduates who most of them are on daily basis getting fraustrated. The question now is how do we rescue this situation?

I agree that there are other things one could do to earn a living rather than actually wait for employment as the only solution. Many don't believe in it though for so many reasons. Maybe because of their experiences with the owners or because they stand to charge some amounts before one gets to know what is in their packages, even for other reasons. What is this I'm talking about here?

It is INFORMATION MARKETING!

Brethren, I really want to help any interested in this field to start earning a living from it. Yes, it's not all about gaining employment for a job here. It is all about CAREER. Many of us have JOBS but NOT A CAREER. Make a research and find out what I'm saying. This is a point where things have changed; changed so much that we must not all depend on another man for our living. What if he fails? Then life will be over for us. No, this must not be the case.

Even our jobs are no longer secure. You get employed today, as a result of what you experienced before getting employed, you seek to work harder to get promoted. Someone will from nowhere nurture the enviness that you are after his/her position, blackmail you and endeavour that you have your way out of the office when you are not yet due for it. At this point, what becomes of you? Unemployed?

No matter how rich our jobs are paying, what about our CAREER? What about our personal achievements that will sustain us in a situation where there is a reverse of things? We must have a rethink now. Build up our careers and be ready at any moment.

Information Marking is one thing our people are really ignoring. We see it as a failed venture but no, it is not. We here in Nigeria can use it to supplement for everything. It works and because it does, I came here to help us achieve a good knowledge on it.

We''ll discuss everything about it here unless where an external aid is needed. All interested should show interest by supporting me to go on with this thread else, I keep my knowledge to myself.

Waiting for your responses here.
First and foremost, I want to commend the poster on this topic - 1) It has gone 2 pages without insults and attacks and 2) It has made the front page of NL. Kudos!
Thanks for the compliment. I'm happy that even until this second page, all have conducted himself/herself very well. Thanks to all that contributed.

As per the WOA, I think firstly, we should go and load that site with resources before the actual meeting. I've been communicating with him based on this as well and for sure, it will be a success having members meet face-to-face and exchanging ideas.

Let's forget about what dictionaries have written down to explain who a webmaster is. Taking it upon yourself as your occupation, who can you say a webmaster is?

I'm working on setting up an article directory where these bloggers can come around and pick up articles and load up their bloggs. It will enhance bloggs at least, giving better contents to visitors. The next question now is, "will they value it?" huh

WebmastersRe: Websites And Browser Compatibilty Issues by OmniPotens(op): 2:04pm On Nov 04, 2008
As per the charging thing, I divide every project into phases. Whenever each phase is done, you agree and project continues. You (the customer) has a choice of stopping the project at any point when you think you are running short of cash. The web will be up but because of the ideology in making the work into phases, someone will not notice if the project is complete or incomplete. I believe webmasters should try this kind of charging and see what results they will get.

::: One good thing - since you have the project in phases, they will ever find it difficult subletting to another webmaster since you hold the master key to the web project in question. tongue :::

WebmastersRe: Websites And Browser Compatibilty Issues by OmniPotens(op): 1:33pm On Nov 04, 2008
I agree with you yawa. But once I was called into a scenario where a webmaster charged about 80K for a company's website. After the full payment and designs, the owners asked to see the job before it was uploaded to their server. If what I saw was actually what he was paid for, then 20K will be an overdue for the job.

What I'm saying in essence is that, webmasters should upgrade their intellects so as to be able to charge higher pay for their works, else we keep getting peanuts. tongue
WebmastersRe: Websites And Browser Compatibilty Issues by OmniPotens(op): 2:33pm On Nov 03, 2008
I just discovered something like that now from WOA website. I think that is the more reason we should draw closer to that web. It makes sense cos some nice stuffs are there to harness.
WebmastersRe: Blogging In Nigeria by OmniPotens(m): 12:41pm On Nov 03, 2008
I will inform you once I'm done. At least, webmasters can post free articles for use by any interested blogger. Well, until I'm done then reviews will say what should go and what shouldn't.

@yicob
I don't blame them much. The much incentive that was created about blogging was to make money out of it. This now took many into blogging, adding contents from AdSense and waiting for clicks to make money. You see so many moving from one net cafe to the other, opening and clicking at their adverts just to try accumulate some funds. blah blah blah

I don't really blame them. Everyone needs to make some money. Webmasters do and so do bloggers too. I guess dishing out better ideas to blogging will do much better to bloggers.
