This is a good idea but I think if eventually you get 5 people together, it would be better you take a lease. Let us look at it from this angle, you will require to have the mart on major road tarred or not tarred. You may not be able to get bare land but at least you can get an old structure that you can pull down ranging from N10m -N30m (mainland and Ajah axis only, V.I, Ikoyi and Lekki axis is out considering the amount involved). I assume that you will spend another N15m- N20m for construction and may be another N5m for fittings for the mart. Although, these are assumed figures but they could be more or less-consequently, I think a lease will save you from having to spend all of the take-off capital on construction et al.

@jmaine, thanks for your post, in my own opinion ( someone one said the cheapest thing in the market is opinion) I think Pastor Tunde Bakare should not have ventured into full blown politics, I told a friend this same line before he accepted to run with Buhari.. What it means is that if Tunde Bakare raises any national concern or criticises government, such would be viewed as if he was speaking on behalf of his political party or even as a loser.

His handlers have seen this and probably have advised him to go low, the truth is that it will take a long time for Nigerians to accept him as the fearless Tunde Bakare they used to know prior to the 2011 issue.

By the way, why didn't the SSS, DMI and the rest keep him silent during the military days, even in the days of OBJ?

Sir, when you want to sell property online (apart from landed property), it would appeal more to people if you attach pix. For example, I have not been to Ado Ekiti since 2001 when my granny was laid to rest, however, if I see a compelling pix of a well built house at gra Ado, I may want to take a closer look and possibly buy. So, I think that would be preferred above this " still available" thing. Many thanks though.

@ poster, you did not state where you are interested in, forgetting that this is an online platform. Anyway, I would suggest you make budget for purchase as against lease. I perceive that people might want to sell than lease 5,000 hectares (volume high ). If your desired location is Lagos, you may be fortunate cause one of the members of the Okun/Mopo Alpha Beach ruling family once told me they leased something close to that volume to an organization not long ago. I cannot confirm the veracity of the claim or otherwise.

@ corper, I expected that as an educated fellow you should cross check documentations before payment for an apartment. I hope it is Lagos, if it is, the process may run through January/February and by then you would have completed service year.

i registered a company sometime this year, company XYZ. i now have another business idea which still falls under the type of business specified for my registered business which is IT services, business ABC.

i tried to register only the business name ABC but it was rejected.

someone now told me i can add Business ABC as a subsidiary to company XYZ with no issues.

how true is this and what is the process please.

You need to please note that for any company registration (business, ltd, plc, ltd/gte or I.T) to commence, the name MUST be approved by CAC for 60 days (at least you have done one). It is when the name has been approved and you register that you can decide to make one business a subsidiary of a company.
I am not sure you can make an unregistered or non juristic thing a subsidiary of a registered or juristic company. One thing is sure if have the privilege of seeing your company's name, I should be able to play around the name and get you ABC as you said.

I have sent an sms to you. However, since it is a new company, you would not need to file annual returns but you will need to amend the objects to add the new objects, but the issue is that CAC might query the additional objects like I have said earlier.

Please,help me,i have a registerred company and we deal on COMPUTER/ACCESSORIES,TELECOMUNICATIONS AND OFFICE EQUIPMENTS,now i want to add other business like building materials,transportation,importation of cars,supermarket,boutique,oil & gas,rice,vegetable oil and real estate.i want to know if i can add all these to my company without registering another company,if it is yes how can i go about it because i approached the lawyer that registerred my company he said it will cost me the same amount i used to register my company.

haha na wah for you, only you want to do all the businesses in Nigeria.

Your lawyer is very correct, sometimes you will spend more than the amount you paid in registering the company.

Take for example if your company was registered in 2003 and you paid between 50k to 70k to the agent, it would amaze you that you will require over 100k to make ammendment on your documents.

The reason is that you have to first and foremost file Annual Returns which encompasses 4k ( 1k actual and 3k penalty) per year from 2004 till 2012 to CAC, between 2k to 10k per year from 2004 to 2012 for audit report which must be prepared by a chartered accountant.

You will also need to pay the lawyer or the agent for filing may be 10k or 20k ( this is not fixed, if you are dealing with the big boys, you know what it means).

It is after all these payments have been made and you are issued a receipt for Annual Returns that your lawyer or agent will now start work on alteration of your memo by inserting the new objects you mentioned above on a different charge.

He will prepare a new memo, prepare a special resolution, will request for the consent of the Oga Patapata at CAC, etc.

If he charges the old amount, he is fair, I will probably charge more based on all the procedure I enumerated above.

Advice.
I usually advice my clients to register a new company not because of the procedure involved or the fee involved but because CAC is weary of joining objects these days.

They have reviewed a lot of things such that you may not have more than 5 objects and sometimes they expect the obejcts to be interrelated or similar.

So for me computers bla bla may not fly with all those stuff you highlighted above.

Do this, begin to register all those other objects as a company one after the other as you have money.

If the first company is St. Capital Nigeria Limited,
let the second one be St. Capital Energy & Oil Ltd- this will have the oil and gas and marine works
the next one would be St. Capital Automobile & Logistics Ltd- this will have transportation, logistics, haulage, importation and sales of cars etc
the next one would be St. Capital Real Estate Company Ltd -this will have real estate, importation and sales of building materials
while the last one would be St. Capital Supermarkets & Store Ltd- this will take care of supermarkets, boutique, vegetable oil etc.

The most interesting business and non-time consuming business you can do as a student is selling recharge card on campus most especially with 100k.

You do not have to buy the paper one, it may bring you low in the eyes of guys and chicks on campus.

But the one I am talking about is VTU. All you need is to let people know you have vtu card. Some can pay on the spot while some like the big babes can pay into your account and ask you to credit them. You just ask for their numbers and input it and the airtime is on their phones. No hassles, no littering of campus with paper or bin.

Think about the time you need credit late in the nite or early momo and the credit guys are not yet awake or something.

You don't need a shop or kiosk, all you need is a nokia phone that the battery can last 3 to 4 days until you can charge the battery again ( Never Expect Power Always) and a vtu sim.

I feel that "Hgggiess"( I have to write it that way so that all these people banning would not ban me for advert) is still the best brand in diaper business. My one and half year old son would always have rashes when I use other diapers ( when I am broke).

Two things to do, take a sample of that brand to your manufacturer in Turkey or China, let them disect it.
Make yours to rate above that brand and also sell a little below. I don't know if this is possible but if it is I will be among the first buyers of your brand.

As i pay my last respect to this rare gem, i say he is one of the few politicians we have in this nation who work tiredlessly with his might selflessly.

It might interest you to know this man is the only commissioner in the state who does not own a house until his death. He was engulfed with the passion to serve his state rather than accumulate looted funds like most politicians do today.

I am not too surprised about this because his father, Olu Falae has a very similar and wonderful record. I just hope our politicians also think of a day like this when people will talk about them and do something worthwhile in their lifetime.

I pray God in his infinite mercy will keep his wife and children and we hope to see a 'Babatunde' among his kids in the nearest future.

I suggest you go to Latter Rain Assembly but the church is large and Pastor once in a while delves into Politics but on a day he doesn't, his teachings are classical and edifies.

I also suggest Stone Church Agidingbi, Lagos. Small church about 200 members. Teachings there are deep.

I recommend those churches assuming you are in Lagos.

On your list, there is no way you would not hear preaching or teaching on Sin and how to avoid it.
I will run away from any church that doesn't teach or preach on how to avoid sin.

You will need a lawyer to help you conduct search on the title. In the meantime, please don't bother yourself about where the Land Bureau is. Just go to the land, snap pix if they will allow you, if you like the land, ask for copies of documents like C of O, Survey, Consent, excision etc. Please note that one of these documents plus survey would suffice. Your lawyer will complete the rest and based on the report, he/she would advise on wether to buy or not. Thanks.
