Family › Re: Is Africa Really A Better Place to Raise A Child Than The Western World? by OnlyDeCapPlease(m): 6:05pm On Feb 22, 2021 |
Klass99: Okay.
@ Topic, I am undecided but something an Arab cabbie in the UK said to a friend has stuck with me.
He said, in all his time of being a cabbie conveying people/families around, he noticed that kids of indians and asians, held on to their cultural values, tend to be respectful and not easily influenced or carried away by the negative aspects of Western culture.
However, when it came to us Africans (he specifically mentioned Nigeria and other African countries) he noticed our kids tend to be disrespectful, eager to embrace the negative aspects of western culture and discard theirs, while the parents seem overwhelmed and at a loss on how best to handle their own kids.
He went on to narrate an interaction between a son and a mother in his cab of Nigerian origins that enraged him and broke his heart at the same time, but he stayed out if it. The boy was being extremely rude to his mother to a point where she became teary and all.
I truly don't know which climate is better for raising kids, but that cabbie's observations was or is food for thought. I like what the person above me (etrange) said particularly in her last sentence But the Indians in UK don't need to send their kids to India in order for them to be respecful and cultured. They learn it wherever in the world they are. The parents teach by setting example. I'm sorry but a lot of Nigerian parents behave like children. No self restraint. They always have to show off. Moving from one drama to another, one party to another, yay selfie, learning dance reigning in Nigeria, forming marlian at age 45/50?, must drive mercedes benz, audi or range rover etc because that is what so so and so is driving. Must wear this if not I will feel poor. Consequently they are always working or chasing money. Add to this distractions from having affairs outside marriage that Nigerian couples are slowing getting notorious for, then you are left with kids with no guidance who, if not checked, might end up getting out of control. When this happens, instead of the parents to step back, swallow their pride and engage with the child, they want to fob the child off to Africa for a quick fix of brutality? Jokers. |

thesicilian: That's an interesting point of view. Does that mean that all our struggles on this earth are essentially pointless? Even though I believe that our fates are sealed at birth, no one actually knows what it is. If you believe that you destiny is to be rich, famous, successful, very influencial or game changing, then you will work hard with the full confidence that you will get there irrespective of the magnitude of any setbacks. People like that keep on going till its physically or mentally impossible for them to do so. Remember companies like KFC, Mcdonald, Home Depot were started by people who were above 50 years. |

tsephanyah: Misleading informations anyways with savages, the weak in body or mind are soon eliminated; and those that survive commonly exhibit a vigorous state of health. We civilised men, on the other hand, do our utmost to check the process of elimination; we build asylums for the slowpoke, the maimed, and the sick; we institute poor-laws; and our medical men exert their utmost skill to save the life of every one to the last moment. There is reason to believe that North has preserved thousands, who from a weak constitution would formerly have succumbed to suicide. Thus the weak members of civilised societies propagate their kind. No one who has attended to the breeding of domestic animals will doubt that this must be highly injurious to the race of man. It is surprising how soon a want of care, or care wrongly directed, leads to the degeneration of a domestic race; but excepting in the case of man himself, hardly any one is so ignorant as to allow his worst animals to breed.
The aid which we feel impelled to give to the helpless is mainly an incidental result of the instinct of sympathy, which was originally acquired as part of the social instincts, but subsequently rendered, in the manner previously indicated, more tender and more widely diffused. Nor could we check our sympathy, if so urged by hard reason, without deterioration in the noblest part of our nature. The surgeon may harden himself whilst performing an operation, for he knows that he is acting for the good of his patient; but if we were intentionally to neglect the weak and helpless, it could only be for a contingent benefit, with a certain and great present evil. Hence we must bear without complaining the undoubtedly bad effects of the weak surviving and propagating their kind; but there appears to be at least one check in steady action, namely the weaker and inferior members of society not marrying so freely as the sound; and this check might be indefinitely increased, though this is more to be hoped for than expected, by the weak in body or mind refraining from marriage. Hmm..... |

They don't nag, fight or quarrel. They are like angels in the eyes of the beheader. They are very neat ooo.
Brotherly, if you happen to meet one, respect and cherish them. In addition, they are God fearing. They can fear God for Africa, maybe that is why they usually attend Shiloh every year. Very very true. Especially the ones wein carry yansh like this....

It's European countries block like Germany and Asian tigers like Singapore, who don't have oil. They depend on oil and gas mainly from Russia and other OPEC countries, but they have the best refineries.
While quality of life in Germany and Singapore is comparable to US. You are very correct. The US is the only potentially self sufficient country in this world. They have the ability to function without importing anything from anywhere. |

Benin election is coming soon. I smell another political scam, just to make the yorubas in Benin to vote for him, cuz the man is kinda heartless and they don’t like him.. All we need is the Yoruba part to link up with their kin in Nigeria. No need for unnecessary excess baggage.

Nofisat, daughter of Chairman of the Lagos state chapter of the National Union of Road Transport Workers, MC Oluomo, has become a registered nurse in US state of Georgia, IgbereTV reports.
Nofisat who revealed that she passed her National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX) with the minimal number of questions, said her support system was always there even though she was freaking out.
She wrote on her Instagram handle;
"Allow me to Reintroduce Myself....
Ms. Nofisat Akinsanya, BSN, RN. I’m officially a Registered Nurse in the states of Georgia. I passed my NCLEX with the Minimal Number of questions and even though I was freaking out; my support system did not back out once.. Will be working at Northside and I can’t wait to begin this journey
According to Cardi B “My careers taking off, these hoes jogging in place”"
https://www.instagram.com/p/CLfJLvEnG6B/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link It's commendable that she took up a humble profession. I know it pays well in USA when you put in the hours, but it still remains a profession where you have to humble yourself to get the best out of it. And she's pretty too. I wouldn't let my views about her dad influence what I think. Congratulations. |

DissTroy: More sexually liberal? Erm, well... Paedophilia? Generally frowned upon.
The Ibibios aren't as liberal as the media would like you to believe. Relatively conservative. But the Oros/Orons? Extremely sexually liberal with sex. And, no, no Oro/Oron person should argue this with me 'cause I'd mention names and the terms the call this heightened promiscuity. Generally, folks from other tribes are warned from getting serious with Oro/Oron girls 'cause of their promiscuity.
They have an euphemistic way of terming it: it's called "ulo". The Ibibio or Annang translation of that word would be "Udor", which would mean "friend". But for the Oros, it's a mild way of saying "my sexual partner" or "sex mate", even with married women. And they are more closely related to the Efiks too. While sweeping generalizations are wrong, my asssertion holds true in this case. Yeah you're correct. Although I didn't want to go splitting hairs but I understand Orons are more culturally related to Efiks than Ibibios/Annang. |

Anigreat:

I really dont know why when they talked about sex , Akwa Ibom and Edo state leads. That's nonsense stereotyping; there's no place in this world were people are not having obsession about sex. Akwa Ibom love sex that much, and the population there is yet to beat that of northern , western or eastern Nigeria.
And there's this picture they tend to paint about Akwa Ibom girls, they make it looks like it is very easy to bed them..like they are cheap, and they love sex too much...this is the greatest lies of all time. Yes! there loose girls there, just like we have in other tribes, but that doesn't make you used one or two loose girls you met to judge all the girls there, it doesn't make sense infact it makes you sound or look stupid.
enyak mien mba ke emem mbok You are correct to an extent, but let me tell me what I observed. Akwa Ibom men sexualize the girls there when they are very young. As soon as girl don grow small, the older guys go begin knack them. Dem no dey even let them grow. So you will see a 13 or 14 year old girls already very sexually active. Add to this the fact that Akwa Ibom girls, especially Ibibio from my experience, are quite attractive (dem carry better yansh/bobby), feisty (they speak their mind and say it as it is - no fronting), bold (them get mind well well), physically strong and intelligent. You then end up with an attractive young lady who is very confident, strong with a healthy sexual appetite. What is wrong with that? Do Akwa Ibom girls do ashawo more than Urhobo, Igbo or Ebira? Also from my personal experience, I observed that Akwa Ibom people in general are quite "liberal" in certain aspects compared to their neighbours. The myth about sexual prowess of "Calabar" women, whom people often confuse with Akwa Ibom women, stems from the ancient Calabar fattening room tradition where prospective brides where sent off to be fattened (so that yansh and laps go big ) in preparation for marriage. From what I understand, these women were also taught how to cook sumptuous dishes and exotic ways on how to sexually please their man, hence the anecdotal line about a Calabar woman whose husband comes back from work and she'll ask him if he's hungry for food or s3x? I would imagine that such traditions have long since disappeared and it was the Efiks and not Ibibios who did this. However most people will just generally refer to everyone from that area as "Calabar". Even Davido in song was singing "I go Calabar, go see Godswill Akpabio..." |
