Let us assume for a second that Dora AKunyili defected to ACN instead of APGA, I can assure you that 95% of her critics here would be singing her praises to high heavens. Her only crime is that she chose to return to her true political base, the only base that can support her and allow her to speak her mind when she gets to the national assembly. She is the brave type and I can imagine how difficult it must have been for her to not speak her mind all these while. Senate is the perfect ground for her to show her true mettle and learn practical politics in preparation for one day when she runs for an executive office -Governor or President. |

i will give the point of view from zimbabwean like me and that of other zimbabwean that dont agree with me Okay, you do know that there is an INTERNATIONAL POLITICS section on this website, right? That is a place where you discuss foreign things, or if you are foreigner you can discuss Nigerian things there. Here, you are in domestic Nigerian politics section. This place is for Nigerians, or people from within that space. Gerrit now? Something tells me you know that already but came here deliberately to poke fun and insults at Nigerians. If you must discuss Nigerian things here, show respect and quit your condescending crap. |

vicenzo: The question we(ndiigbo) should ask ourselves is why do we need an igbo president,if its just to have a sense of belonging in this geographical location, then we dont need Goodluck, but if its to get things we need in this country, things like international airport,a functioning sea port in calabar or ph, good roads in our region, equality in the number states in our region,a second niger bridge and rehabilitation of the first, etc, then i think GEJ might be our best choice for now as he has demonstrated that with what he is doing in akanu ibiam airport now. I dont think we will get an igbo president from the north, what they are likely to do is to hand over to a puppet like andy uba and co,who will be answerable to abuja and not to ndi igbo, just like they did to the yoruba, obj was not the yoruba's choice, what did south west gain from his eight years in power? I might be wrong, umunnaa what do u guys think? Nwannem, nna gi zuru gi ofuma! I don't know why my brothers are agitating for things based on bragging rights! If Jonathan can deliver what we need (and I suspect he will because he considers Ndigbo his base), we have a DUTY to support him. My worst fear is a scenario whereby the north will hand over to a puppet in Igboland who will treat Igboland worse than a non-Igbo. We have such people in abundance in Igboland. There are only FEW Igbos who have served at the federal level that brought solid dividend to Igboland. A bird in hand is worth more than a billion in the bush. Also, I don't know why folks want a presidency handed over by the north. It will NEVER serve us right, 'cos the guy will be a northern puppet. GEJ emerged by an ACT OF GOD. So, he can do a lot if we support him. |

My advise to you is to go and figure out how to remove Mugabe and fix your trash heap money. We may be breeding like rabbits, but we are still FAR richer than you. Our population is very sustainable. @PhysicsMHD So, you have appointed yourself the spin master of the unrepentant Zimbabwean (even without him asking ), and you honestly don't think he is insulting Nigeria? You wonder why Nigeria will NEVER be respected in Africa? Let the Zim guy try this on a South African forum and see what he gets! I assure you he won't. Nigerians sef. |
Politics › Re: What Made Nigeria So Populated by Onlytruth(m): 6:06pm On Dec 17, 2010 |
PhysicsMHD: I don't see how ZIM DRILL insulted anyone. She asked a simple, yet rather interesting question. I really won't want to argue you on this because I don't want you to spam this thread. What I feel more sad about is that Nigerians (even the educated ones) are so ignorant and can't even seem to see beyond their tribal lines to see a foreigner ridiculing them. If this dude is from US or England, or Japan, I could try to take it easy on him. This dude is from frcking Zimbabwe! His country is a MESS. Yet, he finds time to discuss Nigeria's breeding like rabbits, and keeps comparing Nigeria to South Africa, never mind that he shares borders with South Africa. His argument is just simple -Nigeria is breeding with little land and nothing more to boast of. You see, this is part of why sometimes it pains me that I am Nigerian. That goat won't insult a Biafra for sure. Instead of asking him some hard questions about his own failed nation, I see some characters here falling over themselves wagging tribal wars, stoked by a guy from the worst banana republics in Africa. Shameless folks. |

1025: @onlytruth, i hate to see people think like birds. what do u mean one voice? what is the need for one voice when u don't have a realistic target? why and how can a normal human being think supporting jonathan will give the igbos chance of becoming the president in 2015? what is one voice when an from no where will go and collect money and speak on my behalf? who told u that the other tribes in nigeria became president because they speak with one voice? obasanjo became president of nigeria even when he cld not win elections in his home states. what are your points? zoning is the only way through which every part of this country can rule nigeria and u want me to support someone who is out to destroy our hope? if the presidency is zoned to the igbos, it means only igbos will be elegible for the position and by so doing, an igbo will end up winning. that was the case in 1999 when obasanjo and olu falae were fighting for the position so no matter who passed or who failed, the yorubas must be president. i wish u will start reasoning like an igboman. check your political science books or dictionary, a preasure group is quite different from a political group. ohanaeze ndigbo had no good reason to jump to a hasty conclussion of who to support. we must remain neutral as a group and allow individual decissions. like i said, i am a matured man, matured enough to who who to vote with my reasons and no one else even u or your non existing ohanaeze has the right to order my ways on that.
@Meldrick, this is my problem with your reasoning. obasanjo ruled nigeria in 1999 not because of one voice or unity but because the cabal then wanted him to. he did not do so even with the support of the yorubas. make your investigations and prove me wrong. obasanjo did not win the yorubas states rather olu falae did. yar adua did not rule nigeria bcs of one voice rather bcs obasanjo wanted a smooth landing and in yar adua he found same. if it were to be with one voice, the hausas will not have yar adua as their representative. jonathan is president today not because of one voice rather bcs of his loyality to the ruling cabals. if u talk one voice in the niger delta, jonathan was not and is not a force there. the igbos will be the president if only they lick the dirty backside of the criminals old fools of which no igboman has been trusted enough by these thieves. one voice has nothing to do with the igbos not been president. if the niger delta ppl are speaking with one voice as u dream, can u estimate how many lives that has been lost in the region since jonathan become president? why is bayelsa his own state not in peace? be reasonable make your points with facts and figures. a typical igboman is a proud man and will find it very difficult to descend so low as to worship human beings and lick their shits just for a piece of meat. You didn't even understand my point at all. Here is what the guy says and I believe he has some points. one particular reason why the igbos cannot rule is that they are life a fish with a lot of heads and no tail. in an event like this every body wants to rule and disarray is inevitable. you can never get a unified igbo society. if you rear your head, the abokis will strike you again. the wisest thing is to clinch to the people on the niger delta so you can get your backing as at when due. I have to keep telling you this because I know you are just a kid. Sometimes you have to trust what your fathers and leaders (Governors and Ohanaeze) say, even if you think they are talking rubbish. If you don't do that, how do you expect another Igbo person to agree with whatever you are saying, even if you are Solomon or Eistein? Unity starts with you following your leaders, and yes it comes with risk, but life itself if risk! Again, there is NO WAY IN HELL you are wiser than these leaders. They must have information which you don't have. Who knows, they may wake up tomorrow to change their minds! still, give them that respect and follow them, else no one would take you serious in Nigeria. You cited Obasanjo and Falae. Did you see that only two of them emerged from the west, instead of 20? |

1025: @Meldrick, a child that says the mother will not sleep, let that child come and sleep let us see. from hausas to yorubas down to niger delta, yet we still maintain the round about system of movement as a country. the igbso will not rule, no problems but nothing good will happen in this country. it is a shame to see imbeciles like u who cannot even read the hand writens on the wall. okonjo iweala, dora akunyili and soludo were the most outstanding under obasanjo's regime and they are all igbos yet this useless country will see nothing good in the igbos. shiits like u will prefer idiots like borrishade and bode george or tony annenih. until nigeria begins to think right, the blood of the innocent igbos jointly killed in the name of biafra war will continue to hunt this good for nothing country. all those who contributed to the killings of the igbos will and must pay dearly as long as God liveth. no wonder the hausas and the niger deltans are paying heavily. atiku is right and with the way arms and armunitions are entering into this country, anything is possible and we will be here to rejoice over your likes. I hope you now see why I was harping on Igbo speaking with one voice, and you were arguing me to a standstill. His point is simple. Until we unite around one voice -no matter how stupid the voice may seen, we will never receive respect from the rest of Nigerians. Anything less will not do. I hope you have learned that lesson! |

south africa (1,221,037 km2 ) is bigger than nigeria but has only a population of 50 million
nigeria size 923,768 km2 and the population 150 million 3 times of south africa
what made the population boom or you just bonk like rabbits and have so many litters Let me tell you in pedestrian language what he was saying really. abadaba: Ndigbo in the south east should realise that not all the Igbo speaking areas in Rivers state are Ikwerre. The rate some Ikwerres deny Igbo is not like that in other Igbo speaking areas of Rivers state. So many Ndigbo from the south east believe that we outside the south east are not Igbos. Even with my name Onyinye, yet so many believe am not Igbo. Here's the deal bros abada, if someone walks up to you and asks your tribe, all you need tell him is that you are Igbo. Period. And then you speak your own dialect, if you can't speak central Igbo (the one they teach in schools). If he doesn't understand you, well, tough luck for him! It is NOT YOUR FAULT. My room mate at the University of Nigeria was from Afikpo in Abia state, but I couldn't understand him when he spoke with his Afipko folks. Does anyone ever question whether Afikpo is Igbo? NO! Time is fast approaching when we will all speak mutually intelligible Igbo. We are fast reclaiming our common language and culture. It will be expedited this century. It is a natural process and will happen sooner than you think. Ohanaeze is working HARD at that! |

To think that a Zimbabwean whose money -Zim dollar- is a trash-heap can come to nairaland to indirectly insult Nigeria and Nigerians is one of those days one accepts a humble pie. Bitterly. You do so because of high level of ignorance among Nigerians on this site. Let me paint the picture clearly. Zimbabwe's GDP in 2009 was $4.161 billion with a population of 11 million While Nigeria's GDP was $341.1 billion with a population of 150 million. Nigeria is about 13 times larger than Zimbabwe in population, but with a whopping 85 times bigger GDP! Pray, how dare a Zimbabwean show face on a Nigerian forum, especially when Nigerians know how wicked Zimbabweans (especially Shonas) are? Nigerian newspapers in the 1990s constantly relayed how Zimbabweans treated Nigerians. Zimbabwe is not even richer than any Nigerian state! I can't recall any Nigerian state poorer than Zimbabwe. okunoba: @ CHOSENO4 AND UDEZUE, Extreme bitterness can block reason. I believe u guys are too bitter to be objective when talking about the pain of Biafra. The food blockade was not used to starve children but as a tool to stop Biafran leaders from fighting, so as to prevent the loss of more lives. If these leaders had stopped fighting when they ran out of food no child would have starved to death. But instead of stopping, they decided the best way was to carry on fighting while the young and vulnerable starved to death.
When America dropped the atomic bomb on Japan and over 200,000 people were burnt to death, this made Japan surrender and the leader that took them to war did the honerable thing by committing suicide. This brave act by the Japanese Emperor prevented the death of many more innocent lives. Japan too could have carried on figting like Ojukwu did, until millions more were killed.
Ojukwu should have done the honorable thing like the Emperor to save the innocent, but instead he chose to carry on fighting at the expense of starving Ndiigbo children and then ran away to save himself when the net was closing in on him. If anyone is to blame, please blame Ojukwu. We have to start taking responsibility 4 our actions.
RIP Pa Enahoro I swear nairaland has featured a record number of buffoons! Who told this goat that the Japanese Emperor committed suicide after Japans fall in world war 2? Unless there was a second emperor in Japan, folks like this should be flogged! Here is about Emperor Hirohito of Japan. secondly if nigeria breaks up igbo in lagos need not go anywhere except maybe those in civil service , but an igbo man living and working or doing buisness in lagos is the same thing as one in london and atlanta etc so where is he goin?
thirdly i have already treated the propagansa of igbos being landlocked https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-569408.0.html
me personally as an igbo man i dont care about polistics or power , i dont have a single uncle or relative in politics they are all manufacturers with factories all over nigeria ,asia and southafrica, buisness men, traders and professionals in their different career, igbo are not and have never been greedy for power.
finally why not allow igbo to worry about their fate if nigeria is to divide, the same way they may be paying you if they are using your port they will recover the money from profit of sales from their manufactured product you will be buyin , its easy add the loss to the sales price so stop fighting it.
