And what part of this bible definition of love do you accuse my of rejecting? 1 cor-13 does not define love but only list it's good qualities. It is obvious that there's the assumption that the people Paul wrote these letters to knew what love was and there'd be no need to define it for them, But Paul challenges them on the qualities to be expected of anyone who claims to love. Of course the qualities listed are correct qualities of love but it does not mean that those qualities themselves encompass love. Love is patient does not mean that patience is love, love is kind does not mean that kindness is love, etc. I agree 100% with the attributes of love as listed in 1-cor-13; so don't try to digress the focus. Defend your position by defining your version of love, (as 1-cor-13 is not a definition) or stick with the first one you offered, which though correct but misleading, therefore we know you and I have different perspectives on the same word: LOVE. I offered the perfect definition strictly for the purpose of removing the ambiguity that secularity carries.

You cannot impute secular values to spiritual matters. There's a secular definition of love and there's a spiritual(perfect) definition of love.

The question was: "what is Love", not "list the attributes of love" which is what 1 corinthians-13 acomplishes..

If I asked: who is ooman, would you answer: "ooman is kind, ooman is patient, ooman is not jealous, ..."?? I did not ask for the list of good or bad attributes/behavioral traits of ooman but who he is, ie: what role uniquely identifies him. Therefore I would expect answers like: ooman is the first son of logicboy or ooman is the chairman of nairaland atheists, or ooman is the head-moderator of nairaland religion section etc.

So bros, you need to try again as I have pointed you in the right direction and context to address this debate.

But for my definiton - It came from 1Cor. 13v4 - Love is patient and Kind. Love is not JEALOUS (DONT FORGET GOD IS JEALOUS) or boastful or proud or rude. LOVE DOES NOT DEMAND ITS OWN WAY (GOD DOES-HE EXPECT US ALL TO WORSHIP HIM). Love is not irritable and it keeps no record of when it has been wronged (GOD DOES - THIS IS WHY HE WILL SEND PEOPLE TO HELL). It is never glad about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out. Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful and endures through every circumstance..................................... There are three things that will endure - faith, hope and love and the greatest of these is love. NLT

Now based on the Bible verse quoted above and my emphasis, i do no wrong to conclude that God has no love of man in heart.

Random ramble; generally, atheists I know full well take personal responsibility/accountability seriously sef, so we generally don't blame some organization/external factor for our personal co.ck ups. If things fail, nobody forced us to screw up and one should have known better, questioned authority if need be, etc (this of course depends on the situation). We tend to forge our own paths and balk at the idea of having been coerced/forced into doing something, like become foolish, because of groupthink. That's not to say all atheists are like this though
