This proximity of Anambra airport to other airports have been a topic for quite some time but what's the point really.
Are you saying Anambra must use MMIA for exports when they can have their very own and cut costs abi is there an alternative functioning cargo wing of a cargo airport in the SE we don't know about.
Should Anambra state wait for Sam mbakwe airport to expand their runway and cargo wing because it's too close to build their own.
Or Anambra should just make the airport exclusively for Cargo because there are other airports around,
Are you trying to say SE can't have five airports and manage em comfortably,
And those saying the airport is a financial waste please prepare a comprehensive financial breakdown of how the money could have been better invested before involving yourself otherwise you're just a hater

You people make me laugh when you analyse things.
Na only person wey no sabi road for Ihiala, Okija and Uli that will waste precious time to Use Anambra Airport when within 50 mins he/she is at Owerri Airport or almost the same min, he/she is at Asaba.
Forget all the support we gave the governor. In reality, the Airport is for Awka, Aguleri, other Anambra North and Kogi people. Even some parts of the North will be best served at Enugu when you consider the time it will take to move inside Umuleri.
South and Central will either use Owerri and Asaba respectively than waste precious time travelling to Umuleri

Igbo elders and traditional rulers and under the aegis of Igbo Delegates Assembly (IDA) and the Association of the Eze Ndigbo in 19 northern states of the federation have rallied support for the President Muhammadu Buhari administration in the bid to combat insecurity, ensure peace and unity in the country.

They condemned the activities of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), including their secessionist quest, even as they irrevocably dissociated themselves from what they described as the group’s invidious acts.

This was contained in a communiqué issued at the end of their meeting in Abuja.

The communiqué was jointly signed by president-general of the Igbo Delegates Assembly (IDA), Chief Chi Nwogu; chairman of the Eze Ndigbo in the 19 Northern States and FCT, Eze Pampas Ngozi Wahiwe, and Eze Ndigbo Kano and president of the Eze Ndigbo in Diaspora, Eze Boniface Ibekwe.

The communiqué noted that after examining the current state of the nation critically, the Igbo leaders denounced the on-going killings, banditry, and kidnapping, destruction of government property, robbery and unlawful activities of herdsmen.

They called on the people of the South East to desist from all acts of commission or omission that would endanger the lives of their people in the North or other parts of Nigeria.

“We condemn and dissociate ourselves from the wanton killings and destruction of property in the Eastern Nigeria and urge that no Nigerian should associate us with same”, the communiqué stated.

They charged the Buhari-led government to deploy all the lawful apparatus to secure the unity, security and development of all parts of Nigeria.

The Igbo leaders stated that all Nigerians are free to live and engage in any lawful business, and similarly acquire and develop property in any part of Nigeria, adding that nobody or group of persons have the right to prevent such rights.

They also declared support for the rightful demand of the Igbos for a Nigerian president of Igbo extraction in 2023, notwithstanding the political party.

The communiqué noted that Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide is the apex body and there should be no proliferation in any part of the North

Umahi stated this on Thursday during an enlarged security council meeting targeted at resolving the ravaging insecurity in the state.


The governor acknowledged that herders armed with AK-47s had sent several threat messages informing that they would launch attacks in the state.


The governor therefore urged the people of the state to always be ready to confront them.


“We note that there have been threats from herders with AK-47 sending text messages to Ebonyi State that they are coming to attack us.


“We have resolved as a people to confront anybody, whether he is a herder or criminal that will come into the state with any gun to kill, or anyone that enters the state with the intention to commit assault.


“Protect yourself in all the nooks and crannies of the state; confront anybody that wants to kill our people. If the people want to kill with a stick, look for a stick. Don’t look for security people to come, no sleeping day and night protect yourself.


“Form your vigilante. At the local government, Ebubeagu must do everything to protect the people.


“No more need to be afraid. If they write you that they are coming, tell them to come, this is our position.


“The traditional rulers, our leaders where the ring roads will pass, have assured us of adequate security.


“And all local government chairmen are to form joint security with the traditional rulers.


“Traditional rulers and their representatives where there is no one alive, the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) leadership, councillors and leaders should form a very united committee to resolve all communal crises and maintain peace in their areas.”


Umahi also noted that the state has granted amnesty to armed youths in the state.


He called on them to leverage on the new opportunity carved by the state to employ about 5,000 persons into the state civil service including the empowerment of 3,000.


“We have also resolved that they should drop whatsoever arms they have; the state government will give them amnesty and stop further confrontation with security agencies and the good people of the state.


“Again, Ebonyi State is not against any alleged agitation for any injustice whether it is at the family level, state, region and national.


“But as a state we have resolved not to allow any form of violent agitation in the state or attack on security agencies, people or restriction of movement, freedom of people or attack in any of our infrastructure.


“We demand that any alleged agitation and injustice must be compiled and be given to the leaders of the state for them to address them with the leadership at the centre," he said.
