Malaysia, singapore and dubai among others rivaled and overtook Lagos over time. It can be done and has been done before. Nevertheless, this crop of airlines in Nigeria will not do it. They want quick money (profit) and nothing more. In 2020 united nigeria airlines acquired four ERJ 145 aircrafts. Each of those aircrafts were 19 years old when they were acquired. There is nothing unique about Dr. Okonkwo's airline. That is one pattern of airlines that are not here to stay but out there for the quick cash. In the weeks leading to decmber 2021 there was high demand for tickets and united nigeria went to the market to wetlease another 20 year old A320 aircraft. This is not how the singapore airlines, etihad, emirates or malaysian airlines started & operated. Look at ibom air and you'll see that they are doing things different from others. Lagos airport is not even competitive in africa but it's huge market is the reason why foreign & local airlines are there. We are approaching the Single Africa Air Travel Market (SAATM) era and I dont see any nigerian airline (except ibom & airpeace) being able to compete in SAATM where likes of rwandair, asky, ethiopian are well equipped with modern aircraftsand structures.

Nwanne, calm down. I feel your outrage too. Anyone who does not agree with their methods is a sabo or must be working for the government. There are two schools of thought on this issue. The first school of thought wants the total destruction of Biafraland and the death of every Biafran if that is what it takes for Biafra to emerge. The second school of thought wants the development of Biafraland and a democratic approach to the struggle using non-violent means.

I also subscribe with the latter and disagree with the criminality going on in Imo state in the name of Biafra. However, I don't blame the youths nor do I blame Nnamdi Kanu. Although I think his utter contempt and disregard for Igbo elders and Igbo leaders or anybody whatsoever that holds any contrary opinion is the reason he fell into the trap of being lured to Kenya and the current state of the struggle today as a result of that mistake.

Like MNK and IPOB, Pol Pot and the Khmer Rouge were of the opinion that in order to kill corruption and materialism, every corrupt, wealthy or materialistic Cambodian had to be killed. So as to usher in a new generation of Cambodians with the mindset of extreme communism, lack of any desire for profit-making / corruption in the new population.

Pol Pot was wrong because he failed to realize that every vice was learned and therefore, even some of those who will be born in the next 20 years, will be corrupt or armed robbers! That is why I always tell my Biafran brothers that we must fix our homeland first and promote pan-Igbo unity. The idea of destroying everything we have in the belief that once we get Biafra every vice will magically disappear and our homeland would magically develop itself is totally mistaken. Just like Pol Pot was mistaken to believe that killing every corrupt or rich Cambodian and not building strong anti-corruption institutions to punish corrupt people, was the best way to fight corruption. It is even more funny when you view that Cambodia today ranks among the most corrupt countries on earth! After all the ill-advised killings of its business community and wealthy citizens! Let our brothers understand that you can develop your homeland as you struggle to get your freedom.

One thing, i will give you guys working for Obiano is that your research is second to none.


The location for the Stadium is perfect.


It should be within proximity to the International airport.


No right thinking person, will argue with that location.


However, u know some of our brothers are clannish and will rather want it in their locality rather than reason the strategic interest associated with siting it within the airport locality.

Your analysis makes a lot of sense. However, some of these things will not cost a lot of money if they really think a good finishing of the project is important. With less than N5 million naira, they can buy and install some screens (Not all). I do concede that it's possible that they won't do much more at the airport since they are also under pressure to deliver the ICC within the next 3 months.

Hopefully, they can do just a little such as buying two 50 inch TV screens. One screen placed in the departure lounge for showing all scheduled and arriving flights, and one placed in the waiting room upstairs for passengers to watch TV. I know they installed a satellite dish on the roof. So they obviously planned on placing TV in the passengers waiting area for passengers entertainment. They can gradually buy the remaining screens with time.

Also, the landscaping should not cost too much to achieve if they give the contract to local women farmers from the community. Just get a few Umueri women that know how to farm and give them a contract of N1 million naira to plant grass in those open areas especially around the airport taxiway, parking lot. They also need more palm trees along the airport entrance and exit roads just before the airport tollgate. These palm trees along the airport entrance and exit roads will help beautify the airport's internal roads while driving in or leaving the airport. No need to use any big company or waste money on big contracts. If they really want to help the women landscapers, they will buy chicken waste or cow dung from the various farms and ask them to use those as organic manure to treat the soil prior to planting the grass. That will ensure it grows fast at the first rains or even ask the fire trucks to discharge their water in the air around those areas to help water the grass.

If they really understand that these little things are essential, they will find cheap ways of doing them with direct labor using the Ministry of works staff and not contracts. The problem is that they may not even see the importance of these. So thinking of cheap ways to do it may not even be a priority.

It might make more sense to leave the stadium as Awka township stadium. Then develop an Olympic Anambra International Stadium in the New Airport City.

In that way, Anambra will have 2 fifa standard stadia. The cost of building a separate International stadium ot adding sitting capacity to the present one might not be too different.

The stadium is a FIFA GOAL project. It is a field for training and development not full capacity crowds. The state government is following a pre specified design. It is a MINI stadium. They should use the rest of the land there to build other sporting facilities like basketball courts with support of NBA Africa, Tennis courts, Boxing/wrestling gym, Volleyball, swimming to make the place a mini sports complex for sports development. A full capacity stadium can be built elsewhere.
