badoh:Oga, You know very well that your analysis only makes sense in an environment like America where elections are free and fair. In Nigeria, only Jonathan ever lost an election because he was too afraid of using federal might and the army to impose himself as all the others do. 2023 will not be different from 2019 or any other previous election in Nigeria for that matter. You are on a long thing thinking that PDP will defeat APC without a formidable nationally popular northern candidate that APC knows they cannot just write results and it will stand. Which Igbo politician can the entire country riot for if he is rigged out? Peter Obi or Sam Egwu? You already knew in your mind that picking a soft Igboman as the PDP candidate is the surest defeat on arrival for the PDP, and nothing can be done about that. Else, the APC federal government will call out the army on innocent protesters as they always do. |
Ceegar01:...... and they left with a fully loaded aircraft of 50 passengers! For an inaugural flight, it's a fantastic count! Besides, they announced on the 17th that they would be flying on the 18th, potential passengers would have already booked their flights elsewhere. |
United Nigerian airline in-bound inaugural commercial flight from Lagos has landed in Anambra International Cargo Airport, and taken off with the Lagos-bound passengers.

Hmmmmm, Edwin Clark again!!! ![]() Igbo should know that this is a TRAP! Edwin Clark is the worst Igbo hater on earth. He is angling for Tinubu in APC Vs. a silly Igbo stooge in PDP! So that Edwin Clark and treacherous men like him could play his betrayal politics to the silly naive Igbo candidate of the PDP who trusts Clark and men like him. ![]() Only APC can guarantee a southeast President now because it holds all the paraphernalia of federal authority to do it. If the PDP wants to totally lose out in 2023, it should zone its presidential ticket to the south in 2023. The ONLY chance for the PDP to regain power is to zone its presidential ticket to an acceptable northerner. An upright man who is acceptable to both the north and the south. |
Rocksvibes234:This is the second time I'm hearing about this. I hope it is not true and people are covering it up. |
IGBOSON1:I think they have already reserved the space for the hotel. If you watch the video below, at 11:50, the commissioner stated what the reserved space was for. I think they are planning a multistorey hotel. Perhaps upwards of 5 floors so that international hotel franchises will be attracted to it due to the number of rooms. I am sure they will have enough space behind the building for a swimming pool. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q_MPiXrHzZU&t=3s

chiefobdk2:@ bolded GBAMEST!!! A few months ago, I personally compared mktinsight's grammar and Abagworo / JohnBullMyson's style in the Imo thread. They have a deep-seated hatred for Anambra and Anambra people, but they will always claim to come from a silly location that they don't even know the LGA it belongs in Anambra. Then they try to hide their hatred by first blaming the Anambra's governor or its religious leaders or other Igbo leaders as though those are his real target. Then he will denigrate any progress or projects in Anambra by posting the picture of Paris, Washington DC, or Tokyo as what Awka should be. For example, he will prefer not to post Imo airport, but post London Heathrow airport as what Anambra airport should be. Meanwhile will not tell you that London is the capital of a superpower that colonized Nigeria. Besides, Abuja the national capital does not even come close to Aberdeen infrastructure-wise, but he demands that Awka which is a sub-national capital must look like London! ![]() In between the lines of "suggesting the "standard" Anambra must surpass", he will denigrate Anambra and her people while at the same time trying to gloss over the insults as being objective. Like saying no Anambra city has dual-carriage roads like Aba. While at the same time not mention that all the said roads in Aba are impassable swamps! While you cannot find such roads in any Anambra city! He will tell you that Kano contributes more VAT than Anambra, but will not tell you that Kano receives double of what it contributes as VAT from the federation account, but Anambra receives less than half of its so-called "little" contribution to VAT. If you take time to do the comparison, you will see exactly the same manner of expression and building fake arguments by citing only beneficial data and leaving out glaring contrary data. As if everybody here is so brain dead that they would not notice the big gap they omitted in their usual mischievous writeup. |
post=108545535:This is truly going to be an iconic building. I am so so worried about its maintenance after completion and commissioning unless they build the proposed 4-5star hotel in that compound quickly. So that the same gardeners and janitors of the hotel can maintain the ICC and prevent dust and cobwebs from gaining traction in any of its vast rooms. Our people are just not skilled in keeping these types of massive public facilities clean and well maintained except under some type of private sector hotel environment / management. Since we already have Golden Tulip in Anambra, perhaps they should approach the Protea group for partnership in building the hotel. Even if the state needs to fund some percentage of the construction and furnishing of the hotel so that they will reap a certain percentage of the profits too. Based on how iconic this building is, they really need to Fastrack the completion of the accompanying hotel to ensure it does not fall into disrepair before a hotel to guarantee its proper daily maintenance is built.

While I think IPOB has a good cause but DUMB strategy, Umeh is right about the Nigerian army's strategy to kill innocent people and try to blame it on IPOB. The Nigerian army has been filmed shooting 50 caliber machine guns into a heavily populated public buildings and even village homes. They have invaded and burnt homes of many people including Barrister Ejiofor's home. We have already seen the Nigerian army commit crimes against humanity in IZOMBE and AWO-MMAMA. They are not afraid of killing innocent poor civilians in the southeast for nothing. But they will all answer for crimes against humanity as these pieces of evidence as well as the names of the local commanders in charge of these operations are being collected and taken to the right court rooms globally. |
MrStan11:@ bolded.... ![]() I was hoping that everyone would ignore that attention seeker. Once you give them the dignity of a response, they know that at least one person even bothered to read their illogical post. Skipping their post and ignoring it is the best way to respond to people who might have escaped from a mental asylum and randomly posting anything they see on the web in nairaland forums. |
RIVERS1stson:Biko, is the govano serious that his solution to addressing water scarcity is to put water galons on motorbikes and drive to people's homes? How did we get so low in Enugu state? |
Cjrane2:The Momimichelle guy always talks like a very deceptive fellow. I think Obiano might somehow be frustrated at the pace of work by the contractor because they always will say they pleaded with him to come back and see that something he expected to have been completed will be completed. Hopefully, the guy will complete laying the pitch as promised. |

Rocksvibes234:Yes, flights have been landing and to and from Lagos and Abuja since last week. The current Airpeace 5-days schedule is: Tuesday Wednesday Thursday Saturday and Sunday. One hopes that the airport road is used to jump-start a modern business district in Anambra state. The types of buildings and hotels allowed along that road, as well as the trees, flowers, and road markings should all be done at the highest standard. Like the picture on the left. One hopes that someone in government will get around and properly mark the road for a start. Then the state ministry of lands and urban planning will mark out the plots on that road for the types of buildings and services expected on the road. Every effort must be made to prevent this road from becoming another Ziks avenue with Eke Awka type of market buildings allowed along this airport road. There are already A LOT of shady developers claiming to have land for estates and trading stores along that road! One hopes the state will jealously protect that area to help launch Anambra as a state that has modern central business district areas.

United Nigeria airlines setting up shop to commence their daily flights to Anambra International airport.
|
gordonbarrett:Yes, they'll probably use light weight materials. I have looked at the initial pictures and it showed that they intend to use glass partitions for the shops instead of walls.
|
Pass11:Dave Umahi must do everything within his powers to complete this airport next year! He must commission it before by December 2022 so that this does not become the biggest abandoned project in Nigeria if he ever leaves office without completing it. I am only pleading, I am not ordering him. This Ebonyi state international airport has very great potentials for the future of Ebonyi state and should be prioritized by every means necessary to complete it at least 6 months before May 2023! |
Pass11:Wow, really nice! Kudos to Gov. Dave Umahi for these excellent legacy projects!!! |
One critical area is how to create those shops without adding too much weight to the structure and still making it look very nice. I am sure Ngonyama Okpanum & Associates would be able to assist in carefully adding the stores. I think some airports around the world such as Casablanca and Addis Ababa international airports have provided a guide on how to use Aluminum to create state-of-the-art partitions for stores. This is a critical area to ensure the overall appeal of the terminal build is preserved while not adding undue weight to the superstructure.
|
newswires:Just FYI, That room in the airport is actually called the VIP lounge, not a "presidential" lounge. You can search for the airport model video by Ngonyama Okpanum & Associates and see that room and what it's called.

Godons1:Everyone knows that President Buhari approved the construction of the project and has severally been thanked in the various numerous speeches at the airport by Gov. Obiano himself and even Allen Onyema of airpeace amongst many others. Everyone also knows that Federal agencies such as Aviation Minister Sirika and NCAA and the DG Capt Musa Nuhu directed the design and construction of the airport to meet international standards, and have also been thanked for their guidance in helping the project to succeed. Infact, Capt. Musa Nuhu even visited the airport during construction and said he was impressed that all his recommendations were carried out. The financing of the airport was done entirely by the state government under Willie Obiano, that is why people are congratulating him for ensuring that the project was not abandoned. SO TELL ME WHY YOU CREATED THIS THREAD if not for mischief? So you can respond to yourself with different monikers and pretend you are Igbo? Dude, go get a job and be useful to yourself. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B2D18u_1OxE https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GjSoLOmVcc8 |
IDENNAA:The Avio-bridges are built to each airport's specifications and delivered upon completion. The Anambra International Cargo airport Avio-bridges are being built and will be delivered and installed when they are ready. Avio bridges don't prevent airports from functioning. Enugu and Owerri have none. Asaba and PH have Avio bridges, but they are not operational. None of the airports in Nigeria with Avio bridges know how to operate it except Abuja and Lagos airports. By the way, I love that they got janitors to thoroughly sweep and mop the floors! Little things like that make a lot of difference! I hope they keep it up by constantly sweeping and mopping the floors at least once daily. Once in a while, it would be nice to get a professional person to also polish the floors to keep the shiny glossy look of the tiles. There is no doubt that this airport meets international standards by facilities or any yardstick of measurement. Including cleanliness!

First commercial flight just landed and Abuja-bound passengers are boarding! Congratulations to Ndi Anambra! Thank you Gov. Willie Obiano! Akpokuedike GLOBAL!!!

[s] JohnBullMySon:[/s] @ the bolded, nobody needs to be told it is the same Mktinksight with severe grandiose delusions and acting like others are dumb not to catch up with your deceitful unverified lies. If you want me to stop quoting you, then stop dishing out silly white lies. Do i quote you in the Enugu thread? No! Needless to re-emphasize that Enugu airport NEVER had total perimeter fencing! It was finally totally fenced in 2021 as part of the N10 billion naira federal government intervention. In fact, the dispute with Architect J J Emejulu was that the new airport fence encroached on his land. Thus he got a court order to pull it down. THERE WAS NEVER A FENCE AROUND THE PERIMETER OF ENUGU AIRPORT! You always tell white lies as if everyone was born yesterday! Watch the video and read the link which clearly said the about 2KM Enugu airport fence was erected as part of the Akanu Ibiam International airport ongoing rehabilitation. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=imzrdzkL-x0 https://businesstraffic.com.ng/fg-vows-to-prosecute-those-who-flattened-perimeter-fence-of-enugu-airport/ |
Cjrane2:Thank you for your progressive mindset. It's truly rare among Igbos where it's either in my hometown or state, then let it be absent in the entire Igboland. That JohnBullMySon ....A.K.A ....Mktinsight is the same night owl using that moniker to feign knowledge and thinly disguise his angst against Anambra state. Exactly his tactics in this forum. I am surprised that he didn't post a fake link to deceive people. Obiano truly performed wonders in this project. I hope the standard he set would inspire Ebonyi to build a 3.5 km or more runway and build a very standard airport. All in all, it is this region that was highly disadvantaged in siting of federal government aviation facilities in Nigeria that finally corrected the disadvantage via self-help. If we had international standard airports in the region when they closed Enugu airport for runway rehabilitation, the flights would be diverted to a closer airport in the region without the people suffering to commute very long distances from alternative airports. |
Cjrane2:Gbam! Based on the category of aircraft approved for commercial operations in Nigeria, it will be very difficult to use ERJ 145 or Q-Dash 8 to profitably operate an Anambra - Port Harcourt or Ibadan route. Yes, Anambra - Kano route is likely to be successful due to the already existing huge trade between the two commercial centers. Thus, huge populations of traders commute very long distances either by road or via Abuja stopover. Thus, a direct flight between Anambra - Kano will be a huge relief for the businessmen on that route. Although this might be difficult for now, if Airpeace can go into a codeshare partnership with some international airlines landing in Lagos and Abuja it will be wonderful. If most east-bound passengers landing in Lagos and Abuja can have a seamless 1-2 hour wait time at the airport and then continue to their final destination in an air peace plane, that will truly be helpful to many diasporans. If the international airlines refuse a codeshare with air peace for their Lagos and Abuja operations, air peace can time their own Lagos or Abuja departure flights to the east for about 3 hours post-arrival of the international airlines they are targeting, and make it possible to buy over the counter tickets. As a diasporan, returning to Nigeria is most herculean when connecting from Lagos or Abuja airports to the East, which is the last leg of the journey. Ethiopian airlines helped to reduce this stress for returning families. However, with everything happening in Ethiopia now, I don't feel confident flying my entire family via Addis Ababa for now. |
IGBOSON1:My brother, it is the politics of oppression that Igbos have to live under in Nigeria. They are only approving propeller Bombardier Dash 8/Q Series or small jets as Embraer ERJ145 airplanes to do visual landings at the airport. Both planes have a capacity of about 50 passengers. Even when they know the runway is 3.7KM long and it has functional side and centerline runway lights with a Category 2 ILS system at the airport. In fact, by facilities and runway length, it is safer to land at Anambra international airport than Aminu Kanu International airport. But of course, Kano is in a preferred region of Nigeria than Anambra, so Anambra will have to endure many years of lobbying before it is allowed to use the facilities that have already been installed at the airport. The good news is that with the facilities already installed, it will be difficult for Nigerian authorities to deny international flights to and from the airport using the same silly excuses like lack of ILS systems, lack of approach landing lights, functional runway lighting for night landing, etc that they cited for Enugu airport. Also, international airlines coming to inspect the airport for the suitability of flying into it will find that all the modern navigational facilities they are used to are already installed at the airport. That is why Anambrarians must continue to thank Willie Obiano for making the difficult decisions to install the expensive safety and navigational facilities at the airport once and for all. Obiano actually behaved like an American who would try to build the best quality facility than a typical Nigerian who would like to "manage" without basic navigational & safety equipment in the name of "saving money". However, the category of planes allowed at the airport will likely be upgraded once the fire trucks arrive. Hopefully, they have not planned another drama to hold the fire trucks at the Lagos wharf to delay the airport from being upgraded. You know, they can go to any length to achieve their subjugation of the region. In the same way, they quickly withdrew the refinery license of Orient petroleum as soon as the first landing test flight was successful on April 30th, 2021. Nigeria's rulers' methods to hold the southeast in underdevelopment is a book worth studying.

Chikeluba25:LOL.... Dr Obiora Okonkwo tactically kept silent and refused to congratulate Gov Willie Obiano in October when the airport was commissioned because he was contesting the gubernatorial election. Now he is able to speak the truth and congratulate Gov. Obiano for this uncommon feat of completing the massive airport! Better late than never. We welcome United Nigeria airlines to the Anambra International Cargo Airport. Funny enough, he is the one that reaps the financial benefit of this project. Not even Obiano who worked so hard and took all the negative criticism by enemies of Ndigbo that did not want such massive facility in Igboland.

BKayy:There are two aspects of every stadium in the world; 1. The FIFA Standard Sporting Facilities 2. The sitting capacity 1. The Awka FIFA Standard Sporting Facility The Awka city stadium has all the mandatory FIFA standard sporting facilities such as the main pitch, the changing room with personal lockup wardrobes, scoreboard, floodlights, public address systems, and sports journalists area. In addition, the Awka city stadium also has the standard 8-man 400 meters track around it for athletic events. 2. The Awka City Stadium sitting capacity The sitting capacity of the Awka city stadium is currently for about 3,500 spectators. The second phase of the stadium construction around adding of its sitting capacity has already been mentioned. The second phase of the Awka city stadium expansion on adding sitting capacity can continue on the opposite side of the current stand to accommodate 30,000 - 40,000 spectators at the same time. This will definitely involve building a multi-story structure and cost a considerable amount of money. Therefore, it makes sense the way that this stadium construction was planned in phases. Once the first phase of getting the FIFA standard facilities in place are completed and the stadium opens for use, the construction of 30,000 sitting capacity at the opposite side can continue for many years as the stadium continues to host games and drive sports development in the state.

I have been following the plot by Abubakar Malami to use the office of the AGF and EFCC to drag Obiano through the Nigerian rotten system and keep him in jail as they perpetually "investigate" the spurious allegation that Malami brought against him. After which they will release him after spending years in jail as they will find nothing against him. Of course, Obiano being a fearless warrior will likely return to face them in court. But, i think that is exactly their plan. They know he will be annoyed by being accused of theft and will want to challenge them, which will give them an opportunity to continue abusing the Nigeria federal powers to humiliate him. Based on that, I am wondering if Obiano should be persuaded to just remain abroad until Buhari's regime is over in May 2023? In that way, it is clear that the present instigator of this allegation and manipulator of the judicial process Malami would not be in the position of manipulating the rule of law? Moreso, the EFCC has so far merely alleged that Obiano "mismanaged" N17 billion Paris fund refund without explicitly stating what was mismanaged and what funds Obiano diverted for his personal gains if any. Everyone knows that Anambra had been rated among the top 4 states in Nigeria for fiscal transparency. So it's a no-brainer to suggest a whopping N17 billion naira was unaccounted for in Anambra state. I just feel that since this witch-hunt orchestrated by Malami and APC to humiliate Obiano for fighting them politically in Anambra will be largely decided by the same individuals, Obiano should shelve his plans to return to Nigeria for now until these men leave the office or until EFCC brings out their specific charge of "mismanagement" against him. Instead of beating around the bush saying they are "investigating" him for "mismanagement" without stating anything specific. So that they will prevent him from joining his family abroad after his tenure is over by perpetually "investigating". Guys, what do you think? |
whalley676:...... and another thief will investigate how the stolen asset was fraudulently acquired by another thief! ![]() |
chiefobdk2:Why do we always overgeneralize? The same way just a few years ago we were told that Anambra people would not rent a duplex in Awka because they prefer Onitsha-like flats. Or that an Nnewi person would never attend NAUTH to train as a doctor because all Nnewi people prefer trading in motorcycle parts. The truth is that if such an estate built in PH or even the AMC truly comes onboard, it would be sold out quickly in Anambra. Anambra people build because until very recently, the concept of private housing estates was totally uncommon. Estates were only owned by the government which was characteristically very corrupt and inefficient. So our people preferred to build their own houses from scratch. The disadvantage of that method is that everyone builds without any rules. So in the same street where there are four-storey buildings, there are also bungalows, one-bedroom apartments, duplexes, commercial lockup shops, and even a petrol filling station! Everyman decides what he wants to build in his own plot. The result is a chaotic unliveable city as we have seen in several of our cities. That is EXACTLY what we are poised to change by urging the introduction of global best practices in Anambra cities. Private housing estates are one way of achieving a planned-liveable city because they plan the entire estate and where certain types of buildings, facilities, or markets are allowed within the estate. If we can manage to get financially stable individuals to build well-planned estates in Anambra, it would totally sell like hot cake. Even if you build it outside Awka. The issue is that our people are very careful not to be duped. So they will not invest their money initially until they have signs that the estate will not be abandoned. |
