midnighter:You just made my point. You believe the bolded. That is my point exactly. Cos of your bias you believe it and of course we both knew of the war, back and forth that went on when he wanted to marry her. Yes, you have Nigerian parents always trying to stick to the familiar and say their children should not marry from other tribes etc. However, do the following, do a quick think about Igbos living in other parts of Nigeria, then think about other Nigerians living in Igboland, then to be fair so you don't come up with "only Igbos love to travel and go elsewhere" look at other Nigerians living in places outside their own state, then you will find out you have less people living in igboland. Therein lies your answer my dear, as to who is more open and accommodating of others. Now, show some gratitude and RESPECT, for i sure am a better host and gave you more settled mind to prosper and thrive in my homeland than you can ever hope to give. |
midnighter:I should be asking you if youre Ok or if youre the one misdirecting emotions. Nobody from Okoye's family has ever complain about the woman ethnicity rather she was accused of being divisdivisive manipulative. Some ethnic bigots are trying so hard to change the narrative that she was being victimised because she's not Igbo. Unfortunately a lot of family are facing same marital challenge, even those that married their own village woman, if you are a bad woman you are a bad woman, it doesn't matter where you come from, though this is not to say that Lola is a bad woman because I don't her personally.... Now put the bolded together, juxtapose that with the fact that Igbos have this superiority complex towards others, then put it all into perspective and tell me how her tribe will not be the object of insult and ridicule, in all of this. You might not see it, but even your own unconscious bias is evident. |
midnighter:You are not fair or balanced here. You choose to believe she was the problem. You chose to believe ForumObserver12 by saying he gave a balanced viewpoint and he mentioned the woman is divisive and manipulative. You also believe forumobserver12 when he mentioned nobody from Okoye's family has ever complained about the woman's ethnicity. That, is just wrong in my opinion. Also, you are not alluding to the fact that in most cases Igbo women do not support their sons marrying a non igbo. The article said that about Paul Okoye's mother. |
YorubaPrince:You're not thinking straight. You should think about human life, Nigerian life. What you should concern yourself with was to check the lion to ensure it has not consumed human flesh, which will most probably be a Nigerian. |
This is sickening. This is the new Nigeria. All these pastors are so successful in their deceit and saying God is blessing them that Muslims too are coping and following. Imagine This guy celebrating and making sujud on an illegality. Shame! Shame! Shame! |
Beface:Sorry Bros, I am not just talking, i have been confronted with these scenarios and i walked away. I have been offered bribe/commission money just to transmit (mule) pay someone and i refused just because i did not know the source. I have been offered "happy ending" by hot babe as a youth corper to assist with writing SSCE and i equally gave good counselling and walked. In both cases and some other cases, i was insulted and called "mumu" etc however, i saw and witnessed some few others doing the exact same thing that i did so i am not alone or special etc, it's just upbringing. I owe it to my parents. They did an excellent job on we the kids and guess what, i am keeping the cycle on my own wife and kids. You can choose to do the same. trust me, nothing gives settled mind than that. |
Beface:You will surely embezzle money, collect and demand for bribe before you do anything anywhere you work or serve, its in your DNA. |
DelTel:Waoh, this is awesome. Thanks for sharing. I wish you have pix of the chalets and costs. Also do they have phone numbers one can call to ask questions? I just typed that and decided to do a google search and found out they have a website that contains all the information you need. https://www.lacampagnetropicana.com/home/about. @Pocohantas, i'd seen prior comments where people were giving you "inferiority complex" based advice and saying God forbid etc about honeymooning there. It is one of the primary focus of this resort per what they said. I'll say, research security and if its ok, and you and your bobo are ok with it, by all means go for it. We don't promote our own. Sometimes in August, i was shocked, dumbfounded and looked stupid when i met an American Lecturer of IFA divinity at University of Georgia in Athens. He has been to Osogbo many times over, he knew Nigeria, its cultures, people etc more than I that was born, bred, amalad and egusid in Nigeria. I'm not sure any Nigerian Univ teaches IFA. @DelTre and Pocohantas, do you know anything about the Pere currency used on the island? I mean how is it printed, who maintains its circulation, where did the word "pere" come from? the workers there, are they from a neighbouring village with people, cultures, traditions, etc? The site is silent on those things. This is surely on my bucket list but first, its the Osun river in Osogbo, then Olumo rock in Abeokuta, that Ebenezer Obey sang about and i found out it's actually a sort of National Anthem for the Egba people. |
People just post and say things that suit their agenda or narrative not minding or paying attention to the truth. One thing i know, heard, and saw evidences of is how corrupt Ohiomohle is. Someone that Obaseki reported to Buhari with clear evidences if corrupt practices and retired incompetent Buhari said they should go and resolve it with the same Oshimohle. A state Governor told Oshiomohle he does not want to see him in his state and dared him to step foot in the state. Oshiomohle in his bid to get rid of Saraki promised and rigged primaries in favor of any returning senator that agrees to impeach Saraki. Oshimohle is corrupt, and don’t forget this guy tried to form an alliance with IBB when he was looking at VP position. |
Kenturkey048:He’d insinuated GEJ did Buhari snd Nigeria a favor by handing over and allowing the legitimate winner of an election to take over. |
fidelmarshal199:Nonsense talk. What she did is wrong in my opinion however there is no any spiritual repercussions. Before she was born, the day she will be born, the day she will die, the way snd manner are all written down. No one can change or delay or advance it. It’s all in God’s hands, period. |
mrvitalis:Not true, if GEJ acted like that he would’ve been long dead and Buhari would still be sworn in. Even maradona and General IBB or army general OBJ could not try it. Naija of today even GMB with his popularity and powerful cabal cannot try 3rd term. Do stop boasting or making unnecessary noise! |
NaijaMutant:hello hi. |
gensteejay:Waoh, this is remarkable. You are one of the few people that converted based on knowledge and research. I am really interested in meeting or chatting with you. You practiced for 30 years, SubhannaAllah. I wish we chatted a week ago, i wouldve invited you to Eko hotel where AICIF.org just had a huge symposium on Islamic Financing, Infrastructure and sustainable development with so many scholars in attendance. I'll like to connect with you and lets have an intellectual discussion. Where are you based pls? I am based in North America but never mind all the call costs will be on me. I am hoping you are not one of those that prayed to Mohammed SAW and expected miracles in Mohammed's name, Audibillah. Can i ping you sir. |
gensteejay:Broda, I laughed reading your article. Now know this. If you need anything based on ruling, Knowledge etc you look in the QURAN. It is from God directly. It is the highest miracle today. It was revealed to the prophet, SAW, who could neither read nor write however, it was compiled after his death and not a single (.) has been added or removed till date. Its a living miracle and God said it in the book that he will guide and protect it from corruption. Also, there are no discrepancies in it, so pls quote one if you see any, God challenged anyone, everyone to look and know if you will see any discrepancies and if you don't find then Believe. Now, the hadith is sayings, preachings and silent approvals of the prophet SAW. It is based on what people saw, heard or witnessed, there is a science (Usul Fiqh) that studied the origin and veracity of hadiths because it has human elements in them. So, the age of Aisha at the time she married the prophet, no one can really, really tell, because it was reported and if you trace how it was reported, it might have only one source and that is debatable cos there are no verifiable sources or chains of narration that will make it clearly at an age or a figure like 9 years. However, its easy for you to believe that because it feeds into your narrative. However, understand that Aisha AS, grew up to be a leader, a strong woman of faith, etc and most hadiths was from her. So, i will advice you also believe ALL the hadiths and stories about Aisha AS and not pick only one that fits into your narrative. Believe it all and tell me, if she fits in the realm of a lady that was married off at age 9. Again people will always do things and justify it somehow. In Nigeria today, pastors are fleecing people left right and center and Justifying it on Tithe. Boko Haram is pushing their ideology borne out of corruption, oppression, injustice and you blame it on faith? My broda at the end of the day, faith is based on dogma, however, i will say, open your eyes more, ask questions and seek answers from everywhere, for example, do not limit your answer to what you are told about Islam, no, do the work, study it yourself? Now, case in point, i asked so many mallams in Nigeria way back then about God, how he came about and how come he owns the world all that, or why its good to kill a wall gecko etc, they all did not know the answer to my question but answered by telling me, its shaitan making me ask the questions and that i am possessed by shaitan. However, in the USA, i met knowledgeable imams that was able to answer my questions. Also, recently, i argued with one fanatic that said its wrong to sell food to muslims in ramadan, can you imagine? but that was how myopic and judgemental and lacking in knowledge some people are, then imagine that those same people are imams educating others about Islam? That is the situation bro. Please, again, let me know if you want to sincerely learn and search for the truth or you have questions that you need answers to. I will be more than willing to assist. May God guide us aright, amen. |
CrownPrincehawk:Why not Eleven hundred and eleven |
gensteejay:Again, have you watched, read about or seen history of the "CRUSADES"? Maybe you should. See here, there was deliberate attempt to spread falsehood about islam. Most especially, while it was growing in Europe, mostly in Spain and the UK. Why do you think even today still, the way and manner they preach to you about Islam is how to make it look bad, wrong, fake etc? think about it. Also, do you know Islam is the fastest growing religion in the world? I am talking enlightened places in USA , Canada, UK, etc. Also, most folks like you that was a former muslim that converted are either looking for miracles, was not even practicing muslims or just following the motions or something, however, those that convert in the WEST are always full of knowledge. I have lots of books and CDS that can help you learn if youre interested. Remember though, to be muslim, you have to be sincere in your heart, do work, e.g worship 5 times daily. Live a life of sincerity, truthfulness and peace, know and understand you will die and return to God, you will fall sick, you can lose money in business, you will loose loved ones, all that is part of life, its not about everything will be rosy, nice and all. So, let me know if you want to connect, i will appreciate it if you will connect. |
OladimejiRufai:Asalam Alaikum, firstly, the age of Aisha Alehi wasalam is debatable. Most scholars think it's around 11, 12, 13 at the time of marriage and 14, 15, 16 when she actually became a wife with consummation and all. Also, Yes she led wars, was a leader and grew up to be a great woman in history and as you rightly said, narrated most hadiths. |
CanadaOrBust:I guess youre not capable of accepting the truth as the truth. What you wrote is a lie, however, it feeds into your narrative. Keep spreadinga nd believing lies, it just leaves you in ignorance thats all. |
gensteejay:Educate yourself on the crusades. You may hate all you want and lie all you want however, the truth is the truth, no matter how much you detest it. Today, the same Saudi Arabia leads the whole world in Oil wealth. Go again and read about the conquest of Mecca which was the most peaceful battle ever in the history of the world. |
darfay:Nonsense talk. So dressing appropriately will limit academic performance? Or you want a breakthrough in science as well as your fellow man sticking his rod in your shithole. |
mamaafrik:Bros, firstly it’s hard to understand all you wrote, it’s incoherent, however from what I can make if it, you are using one or few example to conclude that is religious intolerance. Seek to understand cos there are fanatics in all faiths. In Nigeria for example there are rules amongst Muslims and Christians that is peculiar to Nigerians alone. Cos of our culture ways and belief system. |
pocohantas:Oh ok, some things i didn't know about earlier that pushed your buttons. shows you took it out on him over somethings he did DESPITE yourself. I am not sir, Ma'am and people comment on threads generally on NL, it has nothing to do with who owns or opened the thread and we learn from the overall experience. Now i mentioned you did a great job cos i assumed you are feeling entitled to what you did (rightly so) and feeling its being taken through the cleaners so youre coming from how dare you, oya go there on a trip and write your own. I actually just had a training on giving and receiving feedback and your comment and reaction here is true to type. Its rooted in Black history, feminism, Nigerian, all that. I am not a Chimamanda fan. However if you care to, watch this. https://www.ted.com/talks/chimamanda_adichie_the_danger_of_a_single_story?language=en |
pocohantas:If i were you, i will learn to accept constructive feedback. YES, agreed you did a good job sharing and getting folks interested in going there however your comment on his comment, the manner, language and overall demeanor was snobbish and dismissive. Reminds me of Mercy Johnson, she might be a good actress but i sincerely do not like her and i will not watch or buy her movies cos of what folks say (verified) about her attitude in nollywood. Ofcourse she doesn't even know i exist, but i am just not her fan. You can give a Bleep and react to criticisms differently or not give a fck and be you and allow that attitude to be a part of you. |
Factfinder1:Ok, just for your education and knowledge, pay attention to the following. The muslim boy was just looking for a convenient place to pray and he found a place where he is praying and he will be done in less than 10 minutes, without disturbing anyone in any way, however if it were the other way around, it will be someone concluding and assuming that your religion and faith is wrong and that he/she will need to preach to you by condemning your faith and beliefs and either singing, ringing a bell or shouting and screaming of how you will end up in hell if you don't accept his ways or teachings. |
DelTel:You should have stopped at the bolded. You were giving constructive feedback. In my opinion all you said was right and appropriate. @Pocohantas came at you arrogantly and rudely. I guess its due to all the praises and shout out on the sharing, pics and reporting. |
DelTel:Excellent comment, however i disagree on your analysis on the reasons why foreigners patronise it and your view about the cos. Its just way too expensive. If its maybe 250K at peak season i can understand. Anywhere else in the world you don't pay that. You get the same thing on Coronado Island in San Diego and Marriot is less than $250 averagely, look up the Diplomat beach resort in Miami, its less than $200 for an executive 2 bedroom suite. Foreigners can afford to pay 250K cos of conversion rate, they're mostly into oil and gas or telecomms and paid well or get them as perks. |
sweetonugbu:She is sincere, she is calling out the issue and speaking the truth. She is tackling the problem and dealing with it head strong. You, on the other hand is pointing finger and denying the illiteracy, poverty, lies, misinformation, in your community. At the end of the day, you will be surprised who is actually dragging who behind. Keep feeling superior and insulting others, while they keep leading you and ruling you. |
Bigotry, tribalism, religiosity is the mindset of the mumu writing all this nonsense. He said their paycheck is donor funded, so millions of Nigerians that are suffering and cannot access healthcare, school, even ordinary food, they cannot access, and we are all this individuals and someone is saying donor funded, also, there is claim that Osinbajo knows a lot, the same nonsense they've been parading, he knows a lot what and he is not saying it Nonsense, if someone knows a lot wont they pamper him so he doesn't spill? Anytime someone wants to do something good in this country, some folks will write nonsense just to ensure that thing does not work. Buhari is president and commander in chief. Osinbajo is a v.p and Buhari is his boss, Osinbajo can be removed, all these mumu bigots look at it as if its power sharing btw osinbajo and Buhari. That was how they abused and insulted GEJ, and called him Turai houseboy, mumu man, all that. The problem is we Nigerians do not keep History and call out all these idiots that do these things. Obasanjo was adviced to go for 3rd term, all those that adviced him where are they and who are they? IBB was adviced to annul June 12, who are those that adviced him? Some of them served in democracy and one was even Senate President because we refused to bring it up and hold them accountable, that is why all idiots say nonsense and get away with it. |
There is too much impunity in Nigeria and we blame the govt wheareas we are the cause. In saner climates Ezeife will be arrested for saying a fugitive should be allowed to come in. People just talk based on sentiments as if there is no more law in the country with everyone pursuing their personal agenda irrespective of laws rules and regulations. Ezeife is a confirmed idiot an an ethnic bigot. |
Goke7:Your poverty mentality na follow come! |
nuban07:Ok, i see your point. However it is not poverty. If he is not mean to her, maybe he will be getting some action, now he is not getting any action in the other room. Yes, more money can motivate her a little to open the closed border. lol. |

Not minding the slurs and insults that I have heard from plenty of Yoruba people even in my presence about other tribes.
Please, humour us!
