FoodRe: The Secret Of Losing The Sour Taste In The Tomato Stew by othenok(f): 1:40am On Aug 06, 2014
I blend with enough onions, add my meat and boil till the tomatoes dries and the meat is tender.

Fat in the meat helps fry d tomatoes a bit plus the meaty taste gets incorporated into the stew.

Add a little Veg oil n other ingredients but save the effrin or basil leaf for last.

Try this and come back n thank me.

Started my watermelon diet with exercise on the 5th and so far I ve lost 2kg.

I eat both the peel and seed. So far am happy with the outcome. By tomorrow I would be introducing protein and a little carb to my diet.

Never believed I could do it. So far it has been easy peasy. :-)

BodyKiss: Wrong list, at least for olive oil, quaker oat, Peanuts & Walnuts.

They don't kill body fat, rather, they produces unsaturated fat.
Oatmeal produces unsaturated fathuhhuh? Are you kidding me?

Zet72: Thanks, instead of me to join them, let me die untimely., I have seen the light, so why will I go back to darkness?
Funny, I made same statement just few minutes before seeing this thread ONLY mine was in the reverse. I thank God and my husband who introduced me to the Catholic faith. I can NEVER go back to darkness.

Who are you to fight for God? Every easter we see witness thousands of people being baptized into the Catholic faith just in Nigeria. Is that not the Holy Spirit at work.

These arguments are unnecessary.

chamboy: U guys should find out was provision for furniture given b4 the suspension b4 u come here n say rubbish
Your statement makes no sense! Go to Surulere Junior Grammar School and you would see exactly the same problem. Basic 7 students sitting on the floor to study and some perched on the window sills.

I requested permission from the Principal to make a few desks for some of the students but he refused that he doesn't want trouble. This incident happened since September and as I speak nothing has been done.
So according to you, all the Public school principals are guilty of squandering your imaginery N1m?

As a kid, I remember my Dad dropping my siblings and I at Enugu Library during long vacation.
I remember reading Newspaper every evening with my Dad as a kid of 5. It was interesting. It was a family tradition.
You and I, what are we passing down as a tradition to our children? Nigeria is in a mess, yes, but I bet you the clean up should start from the homes. Our country can only get better when we make the effort teach our children to be unique and not to have crowd mentality.

I thank God I started "timing" my kids out early. Once I notice the restlessness or tantrum about to start I ask if they need a time out and the answer is always a big NO.

I have also downloaded loads of educational games and apps on my tablet. These apps act as child lock and it always keeps them busy.
FamilyRe: How Was Your First Year Of Marriage? by othenok(f): 8:45am On Aug 15, 2013
First year of marriage was very challenging for us. We were both last kids of our various homes and Hubby was a bit more spoilt than me. Hubby loved having everything go his way and so we had waay too many arguments.
On my side, I learnt the hard way that marriage isn't" Boyfriend & girlfriend" matter. It was very difficult taking instructions when I was used to dishing them out.
9 years down the line, I ve learnt that with a dose of humility you can turn your man to butter. My marriage sweet pass anything now. My Bobo follows me to the market, helps take care of the kids and even makes dinner for us sometimes. Our sex life is da bomb even with the kids unlike when we just started.

TV/MoviesTv Show Where Babies Are Given Away!! by othenok(op): 1:09am On Aug 02, 2013
Abandoned babies given away on Pakistani TV programme

Two baby girls who were abandoned in Pakistan's southern city of Karachi have been allocated new parents during a live television broadcast, the BBC's Orla Guerin reports.

At just over a month old Fatima has already lived through a lot.

Her life began, and could have ended, on a rubbish dump in the sprawling megacity of Karachi. Instead, Fatima was rescued by a charity and placed in the loving care of a childless couple.

It looks like a happy ending but it came about in the full glare of television cameras. The sleeping infant was one of two abandoned girls handed over during live broadcasts of "Amaan Ramzan", a blend of Islam and entertainment, which runs during the Muslim holy month of Ramadan.

The dapper host Dr Aamir Liaquat Hussain is already famous for giving away cars, motorbikes and household electronics.

Now the controversial showman has added babies to the list, calling it "a noble cause". He insists he is saving abandoned infants, not using them to boost his ratings.

"We were already top of the ratings before we gave away a baby. These children are not a part of garbage, are not a part of trash, so we took these children from the garbage, from the trash, and delivered them to the needy people, the needy parents," said Dr Aamir, who describes himself as "truly a legend" on his website.

His show is broadcast from a packed studio, where the audience sits beneath glittering lanterns and a huge chandelier, and fish swim under glass panels in the floor. This is where the sleeping baby Fatima was handed over to her adoptive parents, who embraced her and wept.

Her new father Riaz Ud Din, a bearded civil engineer, told us Fatima was the answer to his mother's prayers. She died the day before the broadcast.

He and his wife Tanzeem waited 14 long years for a child. He refused to divorce her, as many advised, when she could not produce a child.

"When the baby came into my arms on the show," he said, "it felt like another soul had entered my body, like an angel came. She has brought us so much peace. She means more to me than my own soul."

As he spoke, his wife tenderly cradled Fatima in her lap. "I adopted her," said Tanzeem, who wore a black chador, a full-body robe. "But it doesn't feel like an adoption. It feels as if she is my own child, as if I gave birth to her. She is a gift from God."

Seated alongside her was another chador-clad woman now savouring motherhood - Soraya Bilquis. She and her husband waited even longer - 17 years - before getting a child of their own.

"My life is complete now because of her," she said, gazing down at baby Sayeda Zeinab. "I can't describe how happy I am because someone will grow up and call me mother. She is the light of my home."

Both couples said they saw nothing wrong with being given their daughters on live TV. Tanzeem said she hoped it would encourage others to adopt.

Am happy for both babies and new parents but equally apprehensive of this development. Giving a human being away as a prize??!!! Scary!

What do you think?
FamilyRe: Is It Proper To Advice Children To Fight Back If They're Being Bullied? by othenok(f): 10:35pm On Jul 30, 2013
Yes o I do tell my kids to fight back when beaten. My neighbor's daughters made my kids miserable and they kept reporting to their Nana who in turn complained to their mum to no avail. They just won't stop until I encouraged my boys to fight back and stop reporting. The day they fought back those girls saw hell. Their mum came to complain and I told her off.

@busolayemi
The Drs are Gbaja although over worked, they are wonderful. I was home by the 3rd day and to think the whole thing cost N80, 000. Normal birth is 30, 000 while ante-natal reg is 15, 000.
By the next day, the new mothers were all chatting as if nothing happened.
Am really glad Fashola built this hospital in all the LGs in Lagos.
FamilyRe: Your Experience During Childbirth In Nigeria by othenok(f): 12:01am On Jul 06, 2013
I had my second baby thru elective C-Section at Lagos State Mother & Child Hosp, Gbaja Surulere. The experience was awesome.
When i was wheeled into the Theatre i was like "Wow!".The gadgets i saw where up to date. The doctors were really very kind. They actually educated me on the various forms of anesthetics, their pros and cons and asked me to make a choice. I choose Spinal cos I dey fear make person sleep no come wake up again.
They asked me to relax when they were ready to give me the "Spinal". Didn't even know when it was given.
Was gisting with the docs till they brought my baby out. Don't even think it took up to 30mins.
The only bad experience I had were the short staffed Nurses and their nasty attitude.
I'ld recommend the hospital but my only fear is that the standard may not be d same, being Govt hospital and all.
