CultureRe: Olu Of Warri Receives T'suut'ina Highest Honor In Canada by othermen:
Could have hosted the event in his hometown. Improving local businesses there, but he would squander resources globetrotting, pretending he is some extra cultural ambassador, while his subjects are in penury and under the affliction of Buhari’s presidency.

Could have gone out there to meet investors and be an ambassador of the opportunities in his state, but he’d rather compete as the most suave king. Ooni is probably looking at the pictures and searching for means to also squander wealth; what thrills them is the publicity and meaningless honor’s’.

The king could position himself to get paid to deliver lectures about the history of his people or his heritage; getting invited to Ivy League universities; getting those there to become interested in his heritage; and having them come around but to whathuh Everything is in ruin in their kingdoms.
They will sell the ancient bronze to buy a Royce.

someone thinks this is too much to ask.

The cost of doing this trip with his entourage would equip the dilapidated hospitals in his community, would sponsor the empowerment of hundreds of youth in his community, but he’d rather use the resources to no purpose.

He should be interested in the election, challenging and channeling his people to get their PVCs and vote for a viable candidate; but it’s not his business. His business is to attend carnivals and weddings, never to meet with the presidency and appeal that he be responsible to his charge- where education and security and all other sectors currently in ruin, demands resuscitation.

But is it his fault? Some of these thrones demands that you become a slave to the political class. If he attempts to better the lots of the people or channel their direction; he could even get banished

In the end, these royals can be so much impactful!!! and we pray they become so much more.

HealthRe: 47-Year-Old Accountant, Afolake Abiola Commits Suicide In Lekki by othermen:
She is a fellow chartered accountant. Based on her profile on Facebook, she seemed to have a fairly considerable social capital. However even those with much more accomplishments have decided to end it all.

However, it is also possible that she was killed.

And possible, it was by those that stand to gain by her death.

So much rush to bury her and to even characterize the basis of such extreme violence to oneself.

But does it make sense? If we don’t have lazy minds, we might reconsider.

In a sane country, one can examine if she was poisoned or if the poison was forced into her.

Aside; it’s really an eyesore most of the comments on this thread.

Increasingly, one can see why most reasonable persons are becoming less interested in this platform.

You remain here or come to read comments, and you leave with an inferior mind.

Somebody said Ronaldo scores easily.

Football is all about goals.

There is no such thing as scoring easily.

Messi has the highest number of penalty misses in football modern era.

Ronaldo performs in the toughest leagues.

Messi in Barcelona played with XAVI, INiesta, Ronaldinho, Neymar, Zlatan, Henry, Suarez.
After seeing them go, he chose a team that has prime Mbappe and Neymar and yet can’t contribute more.

CrimeRe: Police Subdues Civil Defense, detains their commandant by othermen:
When soldiers assaulted police in Uniform; I said it is a crime against the state.

The NSCDC have been so empowered to arrest with or without a warrant , detain , investigate and institute legal proceedings by or in the name of the Attorney-General of the Federation in accordance with the provisions of the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Perhaps the NSCDC should have involved the NPF in the arrest proceedings. If they feel, releasing the officer into police custody might compromise the case, then they should have been quicker to a magistrate.

If the officer arrested by NSCDC was not in line of duty or in uniform, then he shouldn’t have immunity from arrest if he has breached a law.
This aggression by the police is a crime against the state and the police officers involved should be prosecuted.
EducationRe: A Carryover Student Once Said? by othermen: 8:03am On Apr 26, 2022
In some universities, if you carry over a course, it reflects in your CGPA, even if after you have “A” in the course. So eventually when you pass with “A”, it can cushion your past failure to an extent.

However, there are some universities, that only take cognizance of passes in CGPA ultimate computing. Your past failure won’t have an effect as such.

Interestingly, in the same department, I have students have such failures and eventual success, treated differently in their CGPA or transcripts.

You should be much interested in the information and what the norm is, in your school. That’s why you may find a carryover student making a 2.1 over you that collected mostly ‘C’s.

EducationRe: Nigerian Medical Doctors Among Least Paid Globally by othermen: 7:44am On Apr 26, 2022
A very grim but late realization.

There are several countries that wants our doctors and nurses. Many are already processing their exit.

The less medic we have, the higher the cost of healthcare. It’s better this was addressed; but indifferent government.

It’s also the same with our academics, our brightest minds are also processing their exit. Their are universities and research institutions abroad hungry for their service.

In the end, who suffers? Not Buhari that goes out of the country to treat headache or the slightest deviation in his body condition. Not Tinubu as well, not one of your leaders or the the prominent in the industry.

In the end, who suffers their absence? It’s the rest of the people; Those who can’t afford quality healthcare, those who can’t afford a covenant university, those working in the operation levels of our big industries but paid slave wages.

Just pray you don’t have any almost serious medical condition; the recommendation by your local doctor if you are poor will likely be that you go to India for treatment (here you have sell all you have and be in debt) then in India, an healthcare provider that left Nigeria attends to you.

The direction of the country is a mess.

Weaponizing Russia.

Russia would sadly conquer Ukraine, and when they do; all of the resources and weapons in Ukraine custody, will be Russia’s.

They would have additional resources that when they sneeze, the rest of Europe will feel the heat.
CultureRe: Oba Adeyemi: Things To Know About Boxer Who Became Longest-reigning Alaafin by othermen:
The Alaafin has passed and only his legacies remains. His life was glamorous on the surface and he had the opportunity to even be more glamorous on the inside and in his aftermath.

He released a statement concerning police brutality, calling out the FG for not addressing the demands of the Endsars protesters, and that the presidency indifference and inactions or lack of good actions, spurred the degeneration of the coordinated movement. He condemned the violence against the protesters in the Lekki shooting and though any reasonable person should condemn the events of that horrible nights, our leaders are rather far fetched and for this singular act, of joining the struggle, we could say he was of the people.

He condemned criminalizing those who criticized the government, asserting that “ anyone who doesn’t want to be criticised has no business in government.” He rebuked the silence and the indifference of the judiciary (lawyers) and condemned their poise, clamoring that they speak up. And for this, we could say, he was of the people.

He spoke about insecurity and clamored that the government is not only subjected to banditry but is filled with bandits and condemned those celebrating victory over Boko Haram, asserting there was no victory yet. And for this, we could say, he was of the people.

Although, he was a practicing Muslim, he knew his job was to be the custodian of the Yoruba culture and he admitted that Islam and Christianity eroded that culture and demonized its element; but did he serve much an example in advocating the heritage? I do not know.

And there were others as well.

If he released a statement concerning the ASUU strike and tried to mediate or conciliate; even though he is turned away and ignored, this would be in his legacy too that he was a champion of his people.

If he told us to think carefully about the political ones and remind us of their failings or successes. If he told us in every of his endorsement, his conviction, as to why such candidate is the solution to our troubles as a nation, if he did, we will be more grateful.

There were murder allegations, which were unresolved and others too.

The Alaafin has done his bits, more than millions can accomplish in their lifetime, he spent most of his life serving his people and though sometimes, it seemed, he served himself, but who wouldn’t?

To the wives, and children and grandchildren of the Alaafin, and to the Yoruba people; my condolences.

A very poor defense based on its current state; but a defense that has potential.
EducationRe: I Have Joined The War On ASUU Strike by othermen:
I understand your frustration and I share your concern. I think your direction is commendable.

ASUU is not the enemy; they want universities to be well equipped, so that the education you receive is adequate and comparable with what is obtainable in most sane countries.

ASUU is not the enemy; concerns about their own personal welfare has always been secondary in their demands. A graduate assistant in most university abroad earn more than a professor in Nigeria federal universities. An executive trainee in most Nigeria commercial banks earn more than a lecturer I in Nigeria federal universities. A lecturer I with a PhD. Despite this, this is not the primary struggle of ASUU, ASUU just want universities to be funded appropriately.

ASUU could have an agreement with the government, and request that federal universities become autonomous and so the Federal government don’t have to fund the universities; the running cost of the universities, the salaries of its members will be generated from the school fees of the students. Then in that case, most students would have to pay what is equivalent in private universities. ASUU understands that education still needs to be subsidized, because the masses may not be able to afford it.

It’s important that we educate ourselves on ASUU’s struggle and what the government objections are. It is when we have done so, there can be a reasonable attempt to even address the issue.

Reality is, participate in your government and protest its failure, having failed to implement the agreement they have with ASUU. All these threat of violence, non peaceful demonstrations and what have you, requires critical assessment even in the phrasing of it.

But again, I understand your frustration and it should be directed rightly and effectively.

EducationRe: ASUU Strike: Ngige Criticizes Education Ministry by othermen: 10:25am On Apr 12, 2022
The administration implements the vision of the president.

And it seems Buhari sees that the northern part is little behind in education, but rather than facilitate their progress; he’d prefer the young ones as herders; and the rest of the country as farmers, so that the herders and their cattle’s can have farms to loot or graze but times are changin, but not his disdain for the educational sector, thinking the sector paralysis would benefit his crude visions.

And no matter how exposed members of his cabinet seems, it’s the precondition of membership, to have shared vision with the presidency.

To the president, Education continues to serve the southernmost. The Northern elites have children schooling abroad. The Govt itself is sponsoring repentant bandits and repentant terrorist to study abroad where the quality of education is Topnotch and no blitz. In Nigeria, the rest of us are victims of the president disdain for our education. He would make sure we cannot even afford the foreign currency to send a southern child abroad for schooling. And he would do, until the southern youths has no advantage over their northern brothers in education.

So ASUU can strike forever, and Ngige will seem clueless about the resolution, because that is the prayer of his master.
PoliticsRe: MC Oluomo Chased Away NURTW Caretaker Chairman, Seized The Parks. by othermen:
“So in war, the way is to avoid what is strong, and strike at what is weak.”
Sun Tzu, The Art of War

NURTW should know that a battle against Mc Oluomo, is like a battle against Lagos State. It’s unreasonable and not beneficial.

They should have been patient, and should have understood why Oluomo is special and essential to the ruling political class in Lagos.

They should have sought to make him dispensable and then clip his wings. Romancing Mc Oluomo sponsors would have helped increase their own ranks.

First, it was Oyo State, now Lagos State. Very soon, unless they allow wisdom to guide their conduct; the union may become obsolete. It seems the Union don’t want to appear weak, so as not to embolden others to affront the union authority; but then Mc Oluomo should have been made a member of the inner circle and in that inner circle, they should realize that sometimes appearing weak there may be a temporary endeavor.

No matter how excessive Mc Oluomo was, he is a powerful individual that should have been pacified; then in the background, his downfall may be pursued.

Cristiano is the same age with Wesley. Both 37 years.

Leave when the ovation is highest. But Cristiano is still searching for applause.

Delima Ronaldo retired at 34 years. He left Europe competitive football for Corinthians at 32 years.

At 32, Cristiano won FIFA best player and Ballon d’or. At 33, Cristiano help Madrid win the champions league as the highest goal scorer. At 35, Cristiano was Seria A player of the year.

Cristiano is challenging himself at the toughest league in the world right now at 37 years and he is currently the highest goal scorer for Manchester United. He won Man utd player of the month just in March.

It’s the strong mentality that people appreciate in Cristiano even on days like today.
TV/MoviesRe: Academy Bans Will Smith From Oscars For 10 Years Over Chris Rock Slap by othermen:
Congratulations to Will Smith.

He can be nominated anytime.

Only that he cannot attend their event.

And he already quit or resigned from the Academy before they suspended him.

He can attend the after party.

Whatever accolade he may get is to be sent to him.

So next year, he does a movie playing himself in the Oscar slap incident and the aftermath and wins his second Oscar.

Again, Congratulations Smith.

You could have been arrested for assault,

getting either jailed or fined

and either way becoming a convict,

but there you are, with less than a slap on the wrist.

There is no condition attached to your return such as attending a therapy

or getting some counsel before you can return.

And mostly mixed reaction from many as regards your legacy being tainted or smoothened by the event.

I think we are alluding too much to the reference he made. When he said ''goats'' he was referring to their ''free spiritedness''. When he said they are ''goats'' he didn't intend it as an insult, he meant that they are being ''free spirited'' unlike a ''son'' or a ''sheep'' that is submissive. I don't think it's fair to attack him or anyone else for making such observation.

Pastors are meant to abide by instructions, and if they haven't and they are reminded, I don't think it is worth any unnecessary outrage.
