My younger brother is in the same dilemma . I advised him to go for HND Yabatech.
He applied for Electrical & Electronics Engineering (DE for UNN and Jamb for Uniben) and HND Yabatech. UNN didnt offer him anything while Uniben Offered him Vocational Electrical & Electronics under Faculty of Education against his choice of Engineering. Knowing the kind of discrimination Bs.Education face in Naija, he was left with no choice than to go back to Yabatech for HND. Am not even sure of the choice he made because things can be different in the future. |

Here is the true story. SNG has factions, one faction SNG (a) is affiliated to Aso Rock while the other faction SNG (b) is closer to the masses. SNG (a) has disowned PTB for causing trouble for them as Aso Rock is seriously frowning at his (PTB) part in the last protest. I foresee two groups of SNG one protesting for and the other against subsidy on Saturday. Anything can happen, watch out for subsidy protest part two. I thought freedom of speech is one of the fundamentals of democracy. PTB have inherited loads insults too much for 10 men to carry after his participation in the protest. Is this democracy? He said it started when he was young. He buys beer for his father every morning and he get compensated by getting half bottle of whatever brand the dad is taking that day. As he grows beer became water to him.

revolution indeed,
any thing from that region would be hijacked by fanatics and it would turn to a massacre of innocent citizens,
you would see peeps from the same geographical zone as the president hunted down.
our political/religious/ethnic makeup would make such an option impossible,
it would turn into a full blown civil war Fanatics do hijack any form of protest in that region to massacre innocents citizen because they are not well informed. The good thing is that this guys mind have been trained to resist anything that oppose there way of life. 10 years from now, education would have taken root to a certain level. You can imagine what this will achieve. In Kaduna State for example, the Southern Kaduna christian youths are always keeping vigil against external attack and any form of oppression. Push them one mile, they will push you ten miles, not to talk of the Muslim youths, who are like time bombs, ready to explode anytime. Provoke them, even if you are the president, they will lay ambush and deal with you there own way. Please don`t try Northerners on this. |
Politics › Re: Is "Occupy Lekki " Over? by Ournaija: 1:14pm On Dec 19, 2011 |
I was argiung with a colleague who said that the protest will be a do or die affair. That they are ready to die at the toll plaza if the government refuse to yield to their call. I couldnt help but laugh in Ghana.
The only people who got the gut to die in whatever they believe in Nigeria are Northerners. A typical Yoruba man is a coward. An Igbo man love him business pass im Mama and Papa put together. He does not want to loose his goods for any gaddam protest.
Do you know that police men don`t behave anyhow in the North? They don`t collect bribes by force in that part of this country. You can`t oppress an Hausa man too much and expect to live in peace. People may say that they are brainwashed but at least they come out and fight what ever they think is not in their favour. Southerners are too afraid for some useless reasons. Southerners can not be trusted for matters like this. shior.
Revolution in Nigeria can only start from the North, mark my word. |

Politics › Re: Why Is Abuja The Capital Of Nigeria by Ournaija: 1:31pm On Dec 15, 2011 |
There are some arguments that aren't just necessary to waste energy on. Truly Abuja is at the center of Nigeria but they call that place North. Who are we to question?
South east is more populated than any region in the North not minding the land mass. Go round the North and you end up asking where are the people. The only place you will find people in Kano State is the capital city Kano and Wudil. The allocated population figure of Kano is false. Take for instance people in the North East (Borno, Yobe, Bauchi, Gombe, Adamawa and Taraba) lives miles apart. Fuse them together you wouldnt have more than the population of Anambra and Imo combined. Yobe shouldnt be more than three local councils (Damaturu, Potiskum and Gashua), Borno shouldnt be more than four local councils and so on so forth.
For the records, Nigeria is not up to 150 million as claimed by our politicians. All the lands in the North are empty filled with all kinds of animals which Northerners count to be part of the population. There will be a point that the land in the South east wouldnt be enough to contain the inhabitants.
If Nigeria really want to develop, all tribal sentiment should be laid aside and all stakeholders come together to solve it problems. We are made to believe that the North is so populated, so it has being. All these could be corrected if we truly want to develop. |
Nairaland General › Re: How Can We Overcome Feelings Of Rejection? by Ournaija: 5:52pm On Dec 14, 2011 |
Orikinla: Good topic. But REJECTION is a very serious subject to address and tackle from a pedestrian point of view, because it is often misunderstood by those who are uneducated or not well informed on the peculiarities or similarities of human idiosyncrasies .
What are the circumstances of the problem?
The circumstances will help to comprehend and solve the problem.
How, why and when did the rejection occur?
If someone refuses or turns down an offer does not necessarily mean he or she has absolutely rejected you or your product, The person probably does not understand your proposition or wanted more time for the evaluation and consideration.
The person who turns you down today may accept you tomorrow depending on the circumstances.
There is what we call conducive environment and psychological moment that often favours offers or attempts to receive the nod of someone.
Your manner of approach may be right or wrong depending on the conditions, positions, locations and situations.
Like most immature young men asking for a relationship before friendship and feel rejected when the girls refuse to date them. So, they should not have put the cart before the horse.
You need to know when and how to do the right thing. And don't ever expect everyone to like you or accept you. Even majority of us who confess and profess to believe in GOD have rejected HIM countless times! And GOD is PERFECT, yet Adam and Eve turned their back on him and dined with the devil in the Garden of Eden. They were the first cheaters on earth.
What of the encounter of Jesus Christ with the woman of Samaria at the well. Jesus had to be patient with her when she was reluctant to give him water to drink, because of her ignorance.
Most cases of rejection is caused by the same ignorance in one form or another.
If you want to succeed in any relationship, even in marketing a product, don't slam the offer on the person or target audience. Get to know more about the person or people first and introduce yourself as a friend and be patient too.
If you want a guy to like you and date you, don't assume that he is going to welcome you straight away. You have to try to know his likes and dislikes and what he is passionate about and show mutual interest in his passions and be his ally and gradually flow along with his stream of consciousness until you become part of his interests and before you know it, he will be the one wanting your company and soon move on to the next level.
Chinua Achebe's all time classic novel Things Fall Apart was rejected more than once before it eventually found a publisher. JK Rowling's Harry Potter was rejected by several publishers before she found someone who accepted it and changed the course of history.
To avoid harsh rejections in relationships, you should know yourself; your advantages and disadvantages and then discover your best weapons in guts and wits and then know HOW to apply them, WHEN to apply them, WHY you should apply them and TO WHOM you should apply them. What is good for Jane may not be good for Janet.
I have seen a guy who was the bomb is great looks and style and very brilliant too and thought that every gal should be excited to go out with him, but he got rejected by even some of the ugliest girls. Why? They did not like him? No. They felt intimidated by his Alpha Male personality. They thought he wanted to slam them and then dump them later. And other were just too shy to accept him.
Human behaviour is the most complex thing in the universe. Have you taken time to understand the ironies of human characteristics? It is as complex as the study of the DNA and RNA.
A girl who rejected you at Oshodi Retail Market may later accept you at the luxury Shoprite Shopping Mall. A Girl with a Ph.D may reject her male professional colleague to date the struggling bohemian artist and you would be pissed! "Gosh! What did she see in him?" Only God knows!
A Nigerian medical doctor who has rejected many eligible bachelors accepted to date and marry a man with only a primary school certificate!
The list is endless.
My conclusion is, no one should let whatever form or kind of rejection in human relationships hurt him or her, but take it philosophically and in fact, do your best to prove whoever or whatever organization rejected you wrong by turning things around in your favour.
I know a man who was rejected by a woman for seven years until she finally agreed to go out with him and today they have been married with lovely children for over 20 years and he uses it to tease her.
A guy that was feeling too big for a girl later ended up as one of the applicants coming to her for employment where she was now the HR Manager.
Just live your life to fulfil your divine destiny or your dreams and not to impress any body so that you will be accepted by one lady or gentleman. Because you are not living your life for the glory of anybody, but for God your maker and owner.
What matters most in life is not who accepted or rejected you, but the legacy of how worthy you are to humanity. Orikiriki Yea you got this one right. |
