Politics › Re: Meet The First Nigerian To Import Bulletproof Car And Got Assassinated by oyatz(m): 2:38pm On Apr 26, 2020 |
Akintola was a misunderstood leader in Yorubaland and Nigeria in general. SLA was NEVER a traitor. He loved his people and did alot to advance the development of his people. He actually succeeded his friend and former boss, the Late Chief Obafemi Awolowo and completed many projects attributed to Awolowo e.g University of Ife (1962) and Cocoa House (1964). Akintola, Fani-Kayode, Adisa Akinloye and others had differences with the leadership of their former party, the Action Group led by Awolowo regarding working relationships with the ruling Northern People's Congress (NPC) . Their party interpreted this as an act of betrayal, which caused them to resigned from their party and formed another party, the NNDP which later went into an alliance with the NPC. All these happened within the first 1-3 years after Independence. . .it was a learning process in the evolution of our political development. Awolowo, Akintola, Fani-Kayode, Adisa Akinloye, Ayo Rosiji, Anthony Enahoro, Dauda Adegbenro, Kensington Momoh, SG Ikoku and other leaders of that era were pioneer political leaders who didn't have the benefits of learning from any predesessors and it was natural for them to make mistakes. It's interesting to note that the Action Group was formed in 1949 by a group of well educated, young and patriotic Nigerians mostly in the Southwest Nigeria with the aim of getting the British Colonial Government out( an idea common to most educated Nigerians in the 1950s) and replace the British Government so as to practice their new formed ideas about governance (some of which had unenvisaged challenges). Differences in the political orientations of the top hierarchy of the party soon became obvious immediately the British left and the AG failed to totally replace them. Corporate2020: He betrayed the Yorubas and died a miserable death. He Samuel Akintola and FFK's father Chief Remi Fani Kayode lead other backbiters to leave Action Group to join NCNC. Thereafter, they colluded with Nnamdi Azikiwe, Ahmadu Bello and Tafawa Balewa to jail Obafemi Awolowo.
South-West Nigeria was on fire. The Yorubas will not accept Samuel Akintola and Remi Fani Kayode leadership. Trouble started all over Yoruba land.
Then the January 15 boys struck and brought down many political leaders especially those of the North. Chief Remi Fani Kayode actually lead the coup plotters to Samuel Akintola's house and called Akintola out to be killed. After being shot by the coup plotters, Akintola tried to rush back into his room where his juju were kept but the coup plotters did not allow him, he was shot dead. His imported bullet proof car could not help him neither could all the gods and juju in his house. So FFK inherited betrayal and treachery from his father.
FFK's father too would have died miserably in that same January 15, 1966 coup but God gave him another chance. By the time the coup plotters got to Ikeja Military Cantonment with Chief Rem Fani Kayode, the coup plotters were over an by the Nigerian Army and Chief Remi Kayode was rescued from the coup plotters. |

I guess you don't how different tiers of Government in Nigeria generate their revenues. 1) Farmers who plant and harvest Tomatoes, Yam, Potatoes, Sugarcane, Pepper etc pay personal income tax to THEIR State Governments 2) When these food items are taken to the market to be sold, the sellers pay tax to the LOCAL GOVERNMENT where the markets are located. 3) If Yams, Cocoa, Cotton, Hard woods, Cashew nuts, Kolanuts, Beans, Leather, bones and dried stockfish are exported, the exporter pay tax (export duty levies) to the Federal Government through the Nigerian Custom Service. omonnakoda: Subsidised fertilizer, subsidised seed inputs, financial subsidies
ALL PAID FOR with money from other places.
Food sold by farmers who
Keep all the revenue , Pay no tax Pay no VAT
And some buffoon has the cheek to say they are feeding anyone.

Dedetwo: Are you this dumb? Have you not read my accounts of Nigeria/Biafra war on this forum? The foolishness of most Nigerians is very astonishing. Ojukwu did not attack the so-called Nigeria. By the time she has sex for 10yrs and she is now 30 years, she would have had some pregnancies which most likely would have been aborted or she will be using drugs to prevent pregnancy. A 30 year old female is already a WOMAN. Iamundisputed: You're assuming that all women in their 30s have had more partners than their younger counterparts? Lol. . . Body count is not by age man. Honestly, to tell you the truth, the OP is more correct than wrong. 1) A 30 year old woman is already a WOMAN. She has formed her opinions about Life, men, children, marriage etc. If these opinions are too different from yours, it will be a source of recurring disagreement and avoidable tension. . . it's just like two MEN marrying each other. 2) Women above 30 years may be sweeter on bed but their reproductive capacity is lesser than ladies between 20-25 years. Jochabed: I have an aunt who got married at 50 last year, and guess what she married as a virgin! So all this nonsense about diff men and all is all rubbish. Some get married at 20, some at 40 why? Cause we are all different and the all will enjoy their marriages. |

Necessity. . . QED Igbos who are traders need to understand the language of their host environment in order to facilitate their trades. Yoruba people who are working in Banks, CAC, INEC and NYSC in Kano State don't understand Hausa language like the Yoruba mechanics, Tailors , Doctors or Taxi drivers in Kano. My Igbo friends in Secondary School and University were mostly from elitist backgrounds with parents who couldnt understand Yoruba language despite living in Yorubaland for upto 25 years simply because their parents were mostlty lecturers or Federal Government Civil Servants. SLAP44: I think you are correct to an extent. But the Igbo person also understands and finds it easy to speak all other African, European, Latin languages part from Nigerian language. How can we explain that? |

Politics › Re: Is It Inferiority Complex?: Why Some People In South South Answer Niger Delta by oyatz(m): 8:42am On Apr 23, 2020 |
Yes some languages are easier to understand because of similarities. For instance, it is easier for a Bini man to understand the Yoruba language spoken in Osun State. Later-on, I found out that even Igbo language is similar to the Yoruba language spoken in Ife, Ijeshaland, Ekiti, Ondo, Akoko and some parts of Kogi State. The Yoruba language spoken in Lagos is based on a mixture of Awori, Ijebu,Egba, Oyo dialects and it has borrowed so many words from European, Arabic, Hausa and many other Nigerian Tribes. In short, it has become grossly diluted. To fully understand the core Yoruba grammar, you need to live in Oyo/Osun States. SLAP44: Igbo language is very easy to understand, Obinna was wrong, or maybe he saw you were not making much progress.
Another thing I am thinking of is, are you sure some tribes learn other languages faster than some people? Because the way Igbo boys start speaking other languages within weeks of arriving there is amazing. |
Politics › Re: Is It Inferiority Complex?: Why Some People In South South Answer Niger Delta by oyatz(m): 8:23am On Apr 23, 2020 |
Yeah I also think they should be but just that I haven't met many. While in the secondary School, I tried to learn Igbo language by volunteering to teach Obinna (who just cane from Anambra to join us in JSS-2) Yoruba language during break time in exchange for him teaching me Igbo. After a week, Obinna stopped teaching me with the filmsy excuse that the language is too hard for non-natives to easily understand. I tried learning it from the numerous Igbo guys around me but they will just be smiling at me. Later on, someone just told me that Igbo men don't like non-natives to learn and understand their language. I later found out that this is only true with the older men but the younger ones don't mind, the problem is that most of the younger ones (born and brought up in Lagos) don't fully understand the language themselves. Many years later, I started learning the language from my Ex-GF during NYSC in Yobe State because of the possibility that we may marry each other. SLAP44: They are many. Most of them lived in Onitsha and schooled in Igbo schools and are friends with Igbos. |

If the SS were to be a country on its own, with each State having crude oil and no singular overwhelming majority tribe, in about 50 years, most of the tribes would have diffused into one emerging super ethnic group. sparkyJ: Niger Delta comprises 9 states: Akwa ibom, Bayelsa, Cross River, Delta, Edo, Rivers, & Abia, Imo, Ondo.
You can see the first six states are d South South while d others are in Southeast & South West. However, they are all classified as Niger Delta bc they are oil producing states. In fact, d 9 oil producing states in the federation.
So, it will be very wrong for anyone to want to portray anything dat has to do with the 9 states outside its name (ND). It is only when an event does not warrant the inclusion of the other 3 (Abia, Imo, & Ondo) that they regard dat gathering/Forum as SS. Example if the forum is strictly geopolitical.
Also, tribalism is not really common in ND bc inter marriage amongst its divers ethnicity have established a solid cultural diffusion. Hence, you see a child whose father is Urhobo (Delta) while the mother Andoni (Rivers). Many of us Niger Deltans are having such background including myself; even down to my great grand parents. As it stands, i am related to almost all 9 ND states by blood lineage.
WE ARE NOT INFERIOR & WE WILL NEVER BE INFERIOR TO ANYBODY. As a people, we have embraced our diversity in tongues & culture in good fate thus we depict our solidarity by calling ourselves by our very own surname NIGER-DELTA. |

Sell out to whom and for what reasons? Must everybody you consider to have similar opinions with you about the incumbent President hate everybody that you hate? If the worst happens, politicians change political parties all the time. Were Orji Uzor and Send Ken Nnami considered sell-outs when they decamped from the PDP to the APC? Were Aminu Waziri Tambuwal and Atiku Abubakar considered sell outs when they left the APC for the PDP? daddytime: Ah...Dr. Bolaji Akinyemi, may God bless you immensely for this piece.
I have been trying to piece this and so many rumblings in my head together just to make a sense of what I see through and in FFK but my inability to be as lucid as the likes of you can be in writing kept holding me back.
Even before Abba Kyari's demise, I have always wondered from whence FFK is able to fund the kind of lifestyle he still enjoys even after being out of government for years, and the throw-in his supposed corruption case that has been stalled inexplicably while the likes of Olisa Metuh got hunted down successfully.
Everyone rightly thought there was an APC mole in the PDP but so many would have missed him on the radar.
So many Nigerians go about consciously or subconsciously cursing out on the enemies of the state and those continually holding us down but never truly believe in the efficacies of their solemn or open swears. But trust me, our prayers and supplications never ever go unanswered. This FFK's case is definitely a good case in question. He has met his waterloo and found out for who he truly is.
This is truly the definition of like father, like a son or the apple not falling far from it's tree.
The one other person I am very confident in that can be as much of a sell out as FFK just to satisfy his greedy belly is none other than Bob Dee. Yes, Dele Momodu. But you know what? Our God go dey pick una out one by one and disgracing y'all.
