Bros ,no SEAPORT was shut down . All these Sea-Ports are functioning but the FG can NOT force importers &exporters and the shipping line to use these ports like they did in the 1970s. In 1977-78, the defunct Nigerian National Shipping Lines used to rotate where they will off load their cargoes between the Lagos ports, Sapele, Warri, Onne or Calabar. It was a crazy system! My father's cargo which were meant for his shops in Ebute-Metta and Palmgroove in Lagos were diverted to Sapele &Warri ports. PrecisionFx: All ports in Nigeria are owned by the Nigerian government and they are the ones that shutdown 6 or 7 seaports in eastern Nigeria. This has absolutely nothing to do with political will, yoruba politicians never needed political will to build the Ports in Lagos |

Even though, I don't like all these inter-tribal contests on Nairaland but we must say the truth at all times. 1) The North is NOT the leader of Nigeria neither are the Northerners first class citizens of anywhere. 2) The Human Development Index in the North reader the place,0ne of the least developed places in the World. fk001: Yea i am blessing him for making us the first class citizens of the country, while making you people as minorities and our servants.

And if your idea of justice is likening someone ( GEJ) being ganged-up against by conglomeration of powers to booth him out of office to pave way for northern hegemony, then you need to get schooled in jurisprudence. |

What's the meaning of 'they fought GEJ'? Awol1: Atiku is reaping what he sowed.
Saraki has reaped his.
Kwankwaso is reaping his.
Tinubu will reap his.
Sanusi is in deep sh*t reaping his own in thousand folds.
It's bad for Sanusi's history that it was during his time that the almighty and age-long Kano emirate was bastardized and he couldn't do jack.
They fought GEJ, he picked his bags and walked away.

Politics › Re: Kano Princes Reject Ganduje’s Offer To Head New Emirate by oyatz(m): 6:47pm On May 10, 2019 |
Actually, Ganduje is not totally at fault because of the following reasons
1) Most of the Towns/villages under Kano Emirates were conquered by the Fulani Jihadists who created the Emirate in the first instance.
For example, Gaya, Bichi and Dambatta have existed as independent Hausa kingdoms for centuries before the Fulani conquered them and annexed them into Kano Emirate.
2) The princes mentioned and indeed all the members of the Kano Emirate Council are relatives of SLS.
Kano Emirate is actually one very big Fulani extended family who have over the last 200years constituted themselves as feudal lords of millions of the Hausa majority of Kano State. |

Every State is unique and all politics is local. You don't seems to understand the nitty gritty of Lagos Politics. So if you contest for ordinary Local Government councillorship in Lagos State, you are not likely to win. Tinubu is actually like Class captain of a political class. The Political class is well entrenched in Lagos State and it's more than one person. In every Street in Lagos State, they have sympathizers, fans, admirers and members of the Political class Wiseandtrue: Tinubu has no choice!!! He cannot become the governor of Lagos State again!!!
So either he nominate Fashola or whoever, Lagos State will still present a candidate with or without him!!!
Has other state not being producing governors Was he not into politics via someone
Why are we not hearing much from the person
someone gave him a chance, yes or no
Only him nominate people at the end of their tenure, they are always at logger heads!!! |

What is untrue in what I wrote? I was trying to explain to him that GDP measure all economic activities (not limited to White collar jobs, buying & selling or Small &medium scale processing industries) taking place in the State at a point in time. TundeBricklayer: And you wrote this Economic activities include anything that bring money including Farming, Animal husbandry, Mining, Export of cotton, hides &skin, Gum Arabic, groundnuts etc from Kano In additional to economic activities in Bompai industrial Estate in Kano. Kano , being on the Trans-Saharan trade route has been an important economic centre since the 15th century.

Now I Know it's a waste of time and dissipation of energy trying to tutor you on indices of economic activities. So pictures of Markets are reliable and better ways to measure the size of an economy than GDP? Anambralstson: Onitsha Market is the largest market in West Africa based on geographical size and volume of goods,The average traders in the area are known to bring in at least six consignments of 40 tonnes (40-feet containers) of goods annually. Some of the major importers do more than 200 consignments of 40 tonnes of goods per year. These include jewelry, clothing, household, industrial and office equipment. It is massively patronized by merchants in the North, South-South, even southwest the ECOWAS sub-region including Accra, Abidjan, Douala, Niamey and Cotonou |

You are the one fooling yourself here for thinking personal opinions or wishes ( often tinted by ethnic prejudices) are better ways to measure the sizes of an economy than the GDP. The GDP of a State measures the amount of ECONOMIC activities going on in that State at a point in time. Economic activities include anything that bring money including Farming, Animal husbandry, Mining, Export of cotton, hides &skin, Gum Arabic, groundnuts etc from Kano In additional to economic activities in Bompai industrial Estate in Kano. Kano , being on the Trans-Saharan trade route has been an important economic centre since the 15th century. A State like Kano with a huge landmass, about 15-20 million population and 44 LGAs receiving millions in allocation every month ought to have 5 times the size of it's current GDP if we are a serious country. Anambra is doing well considering it's limited landmass, resources and population thanks to it's human capital development in the last 60years but it will be very wrong to be insinuating that it is or should have a greater GDP than Kano. Anambralstson: GDP deals in aggregates, GDP per capita in averages. In an age where a huge cause of social dislocation is inequality, GDP has nothing to say about distribution. Averages are misleading. Medians are better than means. A rise in average GDP could actually be retrograde, if it leaves 99% of people resentful at how the 1% is making good. From the Nigeria GDP table below are you telling me Imo state is more economically bouyant than Anambra, Kano and Ogun Or Osun is more economically bouyant than Anambra You should stop fooling yourself |
Politics › Re: Only 3 Notable Igbo Billionaires have their Business In Lagos by oyatz(m): 1:25pm On May 07, 2019 |
You seems to lack manners and very crude both in logic and approach. Point to where I said GDP is a measure of prosperity. Prosperity is a relative and subjective term. What constitute prosperity? Any universally acceptable index for measuring prosperity? If GDP is not a good mean to measure the size of an economy, so pictures of individuals' homes, few tarred streets with flowers, round abouts, shopping malls or Google Earth searches being displayed by you and other kids on Nairaland are suitable methods to measure economic activities? Anambralstson: You are ignorant, Gross domestic product (GDP) is increasingly a poor measure of prosperity. It is not even a reliable gauge of production go through this report by NBS in collaboration with CBN |
