I have come to understand one thing in the last 8years that I have critically studied politics of the Igbos...They have challenges accommodating dissenting opinions and divergent views

Unik3030:
y do u people like to insult those who don't see things d same way with u... u should understand that everyone can't see things d same way. u want atiku vote for him no problem n let those that want buhari vote for him too shikena. u don't have to start calling people mad or something
Politics › Re: Why Is Rivers State Sea Port Underutilised While Lagos Suffers From Congestion? by oyatz(m): 8:39pm On Dec 29, 2018
Your claim is very wrong.

1) Nobody laid embargo on the Eastern Ports for the fear of arms smuggling.

Boko Haram has no access to any port, yet they are able to smuggle in sophisticated weapons.

2) Nigeria is a very corrupt country, thousands of weapons are smuggling in through Apapa and TinCan Seaports as well as several land crossing all over Nigeria.

3) Calabar port is very shallow and Port Harcourt port is still operational.

My father used to clear his imported goods from Sapele ports in the late 70s before the Nigerian Navy took over Sapele port

4) Lagos ports are built in the Lagos LAGOON but the Port at P/Harcourt (which strictly speaking, is NOT by the sea) is built in a DELTA.

Port Harcourt has no SEA but is situated by the Bonny River ( the maim arm of the River Niger) which move about 30 miles south before emptying into the Atlantic Ocean.

postmann:
When i said "functional" the average reader could very easily know what i meant. I've worked in Bonny, Kolo creek, PH, Oporoma, etc and I know PH port like Warri port are having low activies.
There's nothing stopping the FG from dredging the port in PH and make it suitable for larger ships. Afterall, that was the port that served the British in eastern Nigeria.

Your oga at the top might have told you sweet garbage as to why ports in eastern nigeria dont function well -— even calabar port which is well suitable for export and import and you're spreading falsehood. Working in a shiping line gives you no authority on classified facts about the politics of Nigeria.

There have been pirate activities along lagos waterways.

It actually was during and after the civil war that all the ports and international airport in the east were discouraged from functioning in their original capacity for fear of weapon smuggling. Unfortunately the ghost of that policy still lingers several decades after.

And no government has reasoned beyond her anus to realize Nigeria is losing billions having just one major port.
The mother of all shame is that we even lose to Benin port.
The black man has proven to be his own worst enemy, never seeing beyond the scope of tribalism.

There are so many facts: even the steel plant that the British sited in the east because of the availability of iron in orji river axis. and coal in Enugu was moved to Aladja in delta state. Despite all the billions sunk into it , it failed to live.

These are few ills of the tribal military regimes that failed to diversify Nigeria's economy and locations.

Sir, I am NOT into contest of insults with you or calling people names.

I am more enlightened to know that crowds on a campaign ground is not a reliable estimate of the strength of a political party in a Presidential election.

I stated my candid opinions about the election without the childish taunts and name calling, you can accept or reject it.

Politics › Re: See Crowd from Buhari Presidential Campaign Kick-off In Akwa Ibom - [Photos] by oyatz(m): 6:47pm On Dec 28, 2018
1) Buhari may not win Akwa-Ibom but he will get over 25% of the votes cast there.

2) Buhari never called Akwa-Ibom voters 5%ers and it will be dishonest to say Buhari is the cause of hardship everywhere.

3) You wrongly assume that the hatred you have for Buhari is the same hatred everybody in the S/South or even S/East have for him and that those who hate Buhari will automatically love Atiku/PDP.

KillTheZombies:
You for tell us say dumbohari go win Akwa Ibom 98%.

Afterall you zombies claimed the whole of 1million strong Akwa Ibom voters poured themselves into a 30,000 capacity stadium in this picture and Akwa Ibom loves bigot dumbohari for calling them 5%ers and causing hardship everywhere.

Pls let's stop this childish squabbles.
Both Igbos and Edos are related.

Anioma is a buffer zone where Edo meet Igbo culture and it is very difficult to mark where Edo end and Igbo begin.

Child: Omo ( Yoruba)= Omo (Bini)= Omo( Itshekiri)= Umu (Igbo)

Amen: Ase (Yoruba)= Isee (Bini)= Isee (Igbo)

King: Oba (Yoruba)= Oba (Bini)= Obi (Anioma)

Deity: Orisa (Yoruba)= Oritse (Itshekiri) = Osaa(Bini)= Oliseh (Anioma)= Olisa( Igbo)

Binikingdowm:
history of igbos.

Slaves to benins then benins gave them to ijaw them to Yoruba then Yoruba used them until British came and freed them..

They made so much mouth when given little power until their cups full , they tried to invade Benin region then a Benin man killed 3 million of them.

Till now they are still irrelevant in Nigeria discussions.

They are always in other people States cause of the fugitive curse place on them.

Politics › Re: Why Is Nobody Investing In Atiku? by oyatz(m): 4:41pm On Dec 27, 2018
Most people don't sit down to analyze the elections with facts and figures but just make their predictions largely based on their emotional support or biases.

For Atiku to win, he needs the kinds of 'votes' GEJ received in 2011 from the SE/SS but any unbiased analyst will quickly know that the 2011Jonathan's votes in these regions were grossly inflated. It will be extremely difficult for the PDP to repeat this feat as an opposition party.

Atiku will need at least 8-9 millions votes in the SE/SS and about 3 Million votes in the S/West to defeat Buhari's millions of Votes in the North.

Agritech:
What they don't understand. Let's take Atiku biggest support base the Southeast as an example

Yes Atiku would win the southeast, but without the support of the Governors how many votes will he get? The Southeast is Atiku biggest support base that he would be getting the highest percentage of votes. To win the presidential election, Atiku need about 5 million votes from the southeast. To get this about 70% of voters with PVC in the southeast must come out to vote and this would require the governors using there structures and money to actively mobilize for Atiku.

Obiano needed 230,000 votes to win Anambra State, Atiku would be needing 1 million votes from Anambra even though the total number of voters in Anambra last election wasn't up to 400,000.

Here in Osun State, there is little to suggest a presidential election is few weeks away as there is scarcity of Atiku's posters and bill boards are even more scarce.

Even though, I think it is a misplaced priority of engaging in unproductive discussions like which zone should produce the president in 2023, I think Sen Ben Obi ought to know that in a constitutional democracy, nobody handover power to anybody or any zone.

The PDP will be better off by concentrating on their party and how to win in 2019 instead of meddling in APC affairs.

You fail to put certain things into considerations.

1) The APC now have formidable party structures and political heavy weights in ALL the SE/SS.

2) There are APC Governors in Edo and IMO States, APC senators, Reps, HOA members in virtually all the States.

3) Elections are actually contested and won by political parties NOT individuals.
There are politicians who want to run for governorship, senatorial and other elections on the platform of the APC, they will try everything to make APC garner many votes in their areas.
The same goes for the PDP.

Work diligently to convince potential voters to vote for your preferred candidates, Atiku/Obi and let the majority emerge winner.

Foolishbuhari:
@the bolded is my main concern and you've accepted that. That it had been happening doesn't mean buhari couldn't have at least tried to manage it properly. But being the bigoted clueless murderous incompetent cattle herder he is, he made them worse than how they were even before he took power!

Then to your other point, who then do you think can fix it? Looking at the polity and the complex kind of politics we run in this country.
You may be tempted to say Sorowe or some other 3rd force guy but let's be realistic, do you even see those guys like people who can win their own local governments?

I keep telling people, politics is about choosing the lesser evil and frankly speaking, that's who Atiku is right now. At least I know he and his VP running mate have successfully managed their individual businesses so far so they can manage a complex economy like ours, I know he's not a tribal and ethnic bigot as both northernerns and southerners alike work and even handle managerial positions in his companies. These alone are OK for now for me.

Bro let me tell you; Nigeria doesn't need a messiah, Nigeria just needs someone who can heal the land first (there's too much hate in the land aggravated by buhari), then make a good move to point us in the right direction...and any other person who comes there would work with that and we'd be good in no time

2019 before 2023: Stop heating up the polity!

In the last couple of days, the political discuss is gradually been shifted to the politics of 2023.

Its not totally bad to discuss 2023 but the discussion theme may be the economic policies or security strategies but not about which zone will produce the President.

Let's stop heating up the polity.

Foolishbuhari:
I schooled you especially on the other thread that this politics of hate and bigotry you yorubas are trying to play would blow back in your faces!

You are ready to let the country burn in hate, unrest and incompetence with a buhari win just to get a shot at the presidency in 2023 because I know that's The reason you all who drum up support for him do no be so?

Well sane Nigerians would do their best to stop you people and you all would then get a full doze of the kind of politics you have been propagating.

Buhari would put final paid to leadership lessons from the masses in Nigeria... You misbehave, you don't perform, you get booted out! By February that movie would have finished playing it's full course Lol.

Osun State holds a lot of economic prospects.

You can start commercial farming at Ilesha and be supplying Oshogbo, Akure and Ado-Ekiti with fresh tomatoes/Plantains.
