Three-three (3-3) is a.k.a Uku-uku because uku is the Hausa name for THREE.

I like taking it very cold especially with Nsi-ewu or Nkwobi.

You are 100% correct.
We can NOT have good control over the quality of used vehicles (tokunbo) imported into Nigeria, the best way to have control over the quality is to start local MASS production of cars in Nigeria.

at least 80% - 90% of Tokunbo cars nowadays are actually salvage vehicles that have gone through one repair or another.

100% correct.

There are many Ebiras in the South west, so are 3rd-5th generation settlers.

Amoto94:
I do laugh at such people because Ebiras have been living in Yoruba territories before the forming of Nigeria and in short if an Ebira is speaking you may find some Yoruba words been used by the speaker due to years of interaction and living together. Ask peeps from Ondo, Ekiti, Ogun, Osun, Ilorin, Ibadan and even to some extent Lagos they will tell you this, though vast majority of them are in farm settlements and some of them have naturalized that you can't differentiate from the locals.

As a matter of fact, in the next 50 years, the differences between Yorubas and Igbos in Lagos (and many parts of the Southwest) will be so thin because there would have been great cultural assimilation and dilution.

Watch out for so many Segun Okechukwu, Toyin Eze, Uche Ajayi or Bukola Akanu.

There will be a new generation of people who are only Igbo in ancestry but have been yorubanized but will be speaking a new dialect of Yoruba language that's diluted with pidgin/Igbo.

Being able to speak Yoruba language doesn't mean you can ascend highly revered Yoruba thrones.
Even Ayayis or Temitopes can't ascend the thrones if they are NOT direct descendants of the founders of the royal dynasties.

She later said she saw her period but only God knows the truth because women use the issue of pregnancy to manipulate so many semi-innocent/inexperienced young good guys.

They can lie that they are pregnant and ask you to give them money for abortion or pretend to be pregnant in order to secure your commitment to a relationship or deliberately get pregnant for you or for another guy and claim you are the one responsible in order to tie you down.

Ladies get more experienced and mature faster than guys within the ages of 16-25years and as such can easily manipulate you if you are not a bad guy (with street credibility).

NO BODY is forced to stay in Lagos or in any State.

kernel504:
With those standards in place, if those statistics were to be done based on "state of origin" per individuals in Lagos, Lagos will not have the highest GDP per person. That's the reason why anyone time any program in done by state of origin, you hardly see Lagos, take example JAMB,NECO, WASSCE.

And those people who are forced to stay in Lagos, by virtue of concentration of federal infrastructures and facilities in Lagos, ensures high rate capital flight.

There are standardized ways of measuring wealth and poverty such as GDP and poverty rates, developed and widely used by reputable organizations like the World bank ( not recently built residential buildings in few selected streets).
Using these indices, the Southwest is ahead of other regions of Nigeria.

The recently built residential buildings and few tarred roads the Op is showing as evidence of advancement of Igbo land can be found in ALL State capitals and even in some non-capital cities like Warrri, Ilesha, Ile-Ife, Ijebu-Ode, Onitsha etc.

Nigeria is still a poor country and MOST parts of Nigeria are very bad.

kernel504:
Hahahaha... You lack understanding of primary economics. The standard of living of the people is reflecting on those properties. Go to Abeokuta, they are roads, but old dilapidated buildings, meaning there are poor people, same in Akure, Ibadan and Oshogbo.

Who said Engineering or any academic discipline can only be taught and learnt in English or European languages?
English or other European languages are NOT superior to our indigenous languages.
If Samuel Ajayi Crowther can translate the Holy Bible to Yoruba and Igbo languages which were used to teach Christianity to generations of Christians for over 100 years, there is no reason why a team of experts/scholars can't translate New School Chemistry by Ababio , Modern Biology, Gray's Anatomy, Harper's Medical Biochemistry etc to Yoruba language which can be used concurrently with the English versions for teaching and academic purposes.
There is no great country that despise its own indigenous language.

There are many Kano or Anambra indigenes in
Lagos state that speak Yoruba language fluently and can easily have a credit or even A in Yoruba language.
For those that don't speak presently, they can learn it within 6months.
For those that don't want to learn it, they can apply to UNILAG, Yaba Tech or private universities.
Imo State and Anambra States have passed similar laws few years ago.
Cheers.

Politics › Re: Lagos Is A Cosmopolitan State : The Yoruba Language Bill Violates People's Right by oyatz(m): 12:25pm On Feb 14, 2018
Thanks for being civil and polite in your response.

1) The attractiveness don't suddenly happened, they are created and this can be replicated in Lagos, Enugu or Yobe States.

2) The institutions can recruit Yoruba teachers for intensive 6month teaching in Yoruba language. This is the practice in ABU,Zaria for citizens of Niger republic who usually undergo 6month intensive training in English language.

3) I strongly urge the Lagos State Government to Assembly a team of experts/scholars in Yoruba language to interpret standard O/L science and mathematics textbooks to Yoruba language which can be used concurrently with the English language versions( for those who wish). There will be greater understanding of the subjects if students are thought in their mother tongues in addition to English language (bilingual).

4) The FG has already gazetted Yoruba, Hausa &Igbo languages as major languages which a student must study atleadt one (I studied Hausa &Yoruba ),besides the law doesn't apply to federal schools.

.
coolscott:
Well... if your universities can be so attractive, then there will be people who will not mind going through a period (to learn and pass Yoruba at a certain level).

But as it is...
(i). That super attractiveness does not exist
(ii). There is no program to teach foreigners and non-yorubas the language before they begin attending classes at the universities
(iii). It is hard to make other Nigerians see reason with it given that English is the lingua franca of the nation.

The absence of (i) and (ii) above gives the whole thing a skewed look.

If (i) and (ii) above are established, then not much worry may be given to (iii).

The other issue is should this new policy be applied to federal universities (owned and funded by the federal govt) situated in Lagos?

Politics › Re: How Afonja Lost Power To Fulani In Ilorin — Kasum, Leader Of Afonja Descendants by oyatz(m): 10:25am On Feb 14, 2018
As someone who have lived and truly studied Northern societies, these are my observations:

1) The Fulanis are the ruling elites in the areas of Sokoto caliphate.

2) These elites are actually one very big extended family. I want you to read about the Sullubawa Fulani clan .
Emir Ibrahim Dabo (the first Fulani emir of Kano) married Othman Dan Fodio's daughter.
When Emir Abdullahi Bayero died in 1953, he was succeeded by his eldest son, Muhammadu Sanusi who was deposed in 1963 and replaced by Bayero's younger brother, Mallam Inuwa, who died 6months later and was succeeded by another of Bayero's son, Emir Ado Ibrahim Bayero who died in 2013 and was succeeded by Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, the grandson of his elder brother and his son-in-law.
All the towns in Kano State have heads called Hakimis, who are either the sons, brother, cousins or nephews of the emir and are members of the emirate councils.
The Alkalis (Islamic judges) ,the imam and the Waziris are blood relatives of the emir.
At the advent of colonial rule, these emirate council functioned as Native authority (N.A) roughly equivalent to State Government in present day's arrangement and they were the people that determined who will be educated or not (since the Christian missionary system wasn't entrenched in the Muslim north).

3) Fast forward to 2018, the descendants of these privileged class are now President, Governors, senators, ministers, top military and police Brass's etc

4) The Fulanis are a minority ethnic group and there is no Local government or State in Nigeria where the Fulani are in majority, have ever sat down to find out how they are able to become the most sophisticated power brokers in this country?. .by using Islam to forge many numerous tribes together to form the largest empire in Nigeria, the Sokoto caliphate.

5) You can accuse the Fulanis of anything but there are not foolish.

How can you think the Fulanis will spearheaded a religious war (Jihad) and handover power to other peoples?
Those who propagate religions or any socio- political changes benefit from such and it amaze me that you think the Fulanis will be different.

Y0ruba:
LOL I see your argument isn’t for Yoruba but for Islam.

Contrary to your opinion, the Fulani Jihadi struggle was not a family affair. Dan Fodio was chased out Hausa land, he went back to recruit people mostly normadic/itinerant Fulani who were not interested in settling but in sacking and looting towns. After the jihad, most of Dan Fodio’s army went back to their desert roaming. Those he gave letters to, to lord over emirates were not his relatives either but loyal soldiers. That stops there.

Fulani do not rely on cultural integration. They relied on weapons/cavalry and religious brainwash. As for culture, they wipe every trace of the victim’s culture away and give them Arab culture as an identity - which they have confused for Islam. And as long as the people have lost touch with who they really are or were, they will remain tied to the Fulani who gave them the Arab culture. Hence, no resistance as can be seen in the North and slightly in Ilorin because dissidents in Ilorin get killed.

The ancestral mother of the Emirs in Ilorin was a Yoruba woman. The family are all part Yoruba but it means nothing. Their alliance is with Sokoto which can be seen in the call for Sokoto flag to be mounted there and the call from military support from Sokoto which led to 16 differenr kings and their battalions being sent from Hausa land to fight Oyo. Also the Fulani rank first, followed by Hausa and then Yoruba in their palace politics and constitution.

The mistake you have made is they are not necessarily united in Islam as you’ve claimed, they are all rather brainwashed. This is why an average Yoruba there thinks the Fulani and by extension even Sultan of Sokoto is a better muslim than they are which makes the Yoruba struggle to be much more Fulani in ways and lifestyles rather than be more Islam at heart.

If they were united in Islam like you said there would not be Yoruba dissidents who want Emirship in their land scrapped. If they were united in Islam the Fulani would not be holding on to the throne using force. Note that the dissidence against Emirship in Ilorin is fed by the cultural identity thriving in th south which, when a Yoruba from Ilorin and Yoruba from elsewhere meets, the Yoruba from elsewhere thinks of the Ilorin Yoruba as Fulani/Hausa meanwhile the Yoruba Ilorin seems himself/herself as Yoruba but know he/she is different in ways and appearance - more like Arabs. This contact is a constant reminder of Yoruba identity and culture to the peopl of Ilorin as well as a constant reminder of Ilorin’s betrayal.

For example, Islam got to Iwo before Ilorin. Iwo is a muslim town but the location makes it difficult for them to completely shed their Yoruba identity. Islam for the Iwo is a religion yes but not an identity.

In Ilorin, the Fulani did NOT UNITE WITH YORUBA in ISLAM, rather they used Islam as a tool to dislodge the cultural identity of Yoruba and tried to Arabize them; the same tactic used against Hausa.

Unfortunately, the Yoruba folks downsouth are a constant reminder of the religious scam and mind-fook. If you’re in doubts, another example is the Yoruba in Kogi, they have close contact with Hausa, Fulani & other northern groups but the culture and identity down here makes them yearn to return. It gives them the reminder of their reality as a disadvantaged people who are being conned into a unity using Islam & Arab culture.

Cheers.

I agree with you sir, except on the last paragraph.

There are many Nigerians, Asians, Arabs who are studying in German universities after a mandatory 6month training in German language, the same applies to Ukrainian and Swedish universities.

coolscott:
I support the bill.
Our languages are dying.
Who else to preserve a language but the owners of the language?
Where else to protect it but in the geographical space of its origins?

If Igbos don't like, let them not go and do the same in Igbo land.

Besides, isn't it a plus that other ethnic groups living in Lagos state have a new opportunity to learn the language and the culture of the natives there? It is a plus for them to end up being bilingual (in terms of Nigerian languages) knowing their language along with Yoruba

**Modified

I don't think they should make it a must that a student seeking to school in any of their tertiary universities should have a pass in Yoruba language.

They will be making their schools more local (less diversity as folks from destinations far from Lagos, and with different cultures) will not come to the university because they cannot speak (or write) in Yoruba
