An open relationship has few (if any) restrictions or limitations. The couple can date other people, and can come n go as s/he pleases. But don't be surprised that some of these couples do manage to care deeply for each other, even as they may share other partners. Hmmmmmm.....he followed my cousin who had come to my house to invite me to a party. When my cousin introduced us I stretched out my hand for a handshake....lo n behold d guy stood there transfixed, just gaping at me....it was so weird, I was taken aback. He soon recovered but by then I had withdrawn my hand. Till they left I kept watching him furtively. half expecting him to jump up n start acting funny.
D following week, walking along d road in my uni campus, someone hailed me. I turned n found it was Mr Strange One.....my heart skipped n I wanted to just run away. But being a courteous lady, I waited for him to come over n his beaming smile n cherry greeting charmed me enough to engage in light convo. Cut a long story short, we found out we were both undergrads in d same campus, both love music n humour, both live in d same neighborhood back home.....so many things in common. But also both had "steady" relationships with other partners, elsewhere.....that made us start out as friends, two lonely people keeping each other company on campus, watching out to keep each other from straying. Little did we know we would stray into each other's arms...that act itself was temptation of d highest order! When we crossed d line, we still fooled ourselves n called it just a "campus affair", with no strings attached. But many years after, d strings got so so entangled....d rest, they say, is history! Good idea, bad approach. The Church should not chase people away. God's house is open to all esp "sinners". The Catholic Church is having the same problem.....some churches have even instructed their church wardens to refuse such persons entry but I think it's a wrong approach. Christ came to call n save sinners and Jesus related with them during his lifetime so the Church should not behave like the Pharisees and bar them from coming to church but rather appeal constantly to their conscience....from the pulpit, not by publishing posters!
