I do agree with Abeem, the lottery is not for folks in the 40s who will find life difficult if they have to do some of the things they are not used to. I remember a friend who won the lottery, and came to the Us. He had problem with litle chores like going to the kitchen to rinse his hands after meals. Thereis no omodo or here, but honestly it's a system that empowers you to be all you can be. For the young ones, you can get a good education without much stress, get the basics of life, support your family back home and most importantly be independent. When I came here in the mid-90s, it was kind of difficult that Kasali wasn't there to drive me around. From someone who had a company driver, that drives me around Lagos, except on weekends, I had to deal with understanding the basics of a motor car (despite that I had a degree in Engineering). Now I not only know how to do basic stuffs like oil change, I can also work on electrical parts and DIY stuffs inside the house. If you are focussed, you can achieve a lot from your sweat without stealing from the poor ala Nigerian Pocketicians |
K2, thx for the info, I thot this was abolished by congress too, anyway let's keep our hands open, the more the merrier |

One dollar wasn't that bad |
goodguy I share ur taste, Tunde Kelani,Tade Ogidan and my main man Muyiwa Ademola, these guys dey crack dem brains b4 releasing dem movies. |
Developing without the necessary infrastructure is like building a castle in the air, we need to put the right things (reliable electricity, water, roads, telecom and most importantly a unique citizen's identifier) in place before venturing in e-commerce. for example, I reviewed Shopforless.com for a while and I'm disappointed with the payment methods. We need to create a reliable identification system, such as the social security or insurance numbers used in some countries, that way the system can differenciate between Ade Kasali and Kasali Ade. The national Id card would have been a solution, but I heard there is no signature on it. by the way, is there any unique identifier on the National ID? |
my sis thank u oo, has anybody seen this movie "with love from Amsterdam", please don't bother seeing it, I can't really figure whether the guys they speak English with French, Dutch or Chinese accents. Let's keep it real |
Even in the US, some companies are still on 8i, the only probem is that Oracle usually give them a time frame to migrate to the new version otherwise they stop supporting them. |
End of Story: Skinny models banned from catwalk: MADRID, Spain (Reuters) -- The world's first ban on overly thin models at a top-level fashion show in Madrid has caused outrage among modeling agencies and raised the prospect of restrictions at other venues. Madrid's fashion week has turned away underweight models after protests that girls and young women were trying to copy their rail-thin looks and developing eating disorders. http://www.cnn.com/2006/WORLD/europe/09/13/spain.models/index.html |
Ebay is just a typical marketplace, where bad and good sellers exist. I don't think you will get a good laptop for $67 but you can surely get a fairly used one from $500 upwards. I will advise you to buy refurbished ones directly from manufacturers e.g. Dell (see link to their Outlet store: http://www.dell.com/content/default.aspx?c=us&cs=22&l=en&s=dfh) I'm not sure if they block IP addresses from Nigeria or not, but I have bought a couple of laptops from them. Before buying go to this site to pick up a discount coupon www.deals2buy.com. Best of luck |
One of the main reasons is that the left hand is reserved for Bathroom/toilet issues. |
Sparing the rod, that's why America is so messed up morally, my dad (God bless his soul) spanked me evrytime I came back from FEGO w/o my books and clothes. Thank God he did, otherwise I won't be where I am today. |
I have a compilation of words and meanings that an Indian friend gave to me some years back. I will see if I can lay my hands on it. It will surely help a lot. |
I do appreciate and commend the efforts of EFCC but the truth is that stopping commercial night browsing won't have any effect on crime, it will only increase the unemployment rate of the nation. while other countries are trying to make their nation a 24/7 envt, we are trying to supress ours. I don't need to go to a cyber cafe to commit crime, I can do it from the comfort of my home or just hook my laptop to any unsecure network and browse for free. I wonder if EFCC will get back to us in 6 months with statistics on the effectiveness of this ban. As bad as 419 is to the image of Nigeria, it is important to state that most of the victims are greedy people who thinks Nigerians lives on trees. The contents of some of the intro letters is enough to know that this will lead to ground zero, but the victims are too greedy to think twice, comm'n how can someone you don't know promise you a windfall from nowhere. On his part, David Oladele declared: “It is only in Nigeria that we use the most silly approach to cover our ineptitude. A Yoruba adage says you don’t cut off your head as solution to a headache. I feel all the people involved should re-examine their stand on this issue. Most cyber café operate in the night to cover cost for which an upfront payment has been made. No doubt, some individuals are engaged in this practice but it does not imply anyone who patronise cafes are fully involved.”, culled from thisdayonline |
Some people might argue till kingdom come that OBJ is the worst thing that ever happened to Nigeria, but the truth is that at least for once, we are seeing behind the curtains of the big men. Despite all Nigeria did for struggles in S/Africa and W/Africa all we get in return is name calling and maiming of Nigerians. Nigeria is too big for some S/A companies to monopolize. Can anybody remember what MTN said about PSB, they said it isn't possible, but Glo made it happened. Unlike the era of the khaki boys, (we still dey dem era only that they wear agbada now) Nigerians can raise their voices now, what stops guys on Nairaland from setting up their own cable services, my 2 cent thots be say we get the people and the zeal to excel, provided the ground is level. Even if u graduate from Harvard or Emory how u wan compete with IBB son wey don get like 30% shares of Glo, comm'n |
The The stripping of exclusivity right of DSTV by the Nigeria Government is a great relieve to many Nigerian. I believe this is a great and commendable move by the government to protect our local industries which I hope will not be restricted only to broadcasting industry but all industries. |
The main problem is our love for trying to sound foreign when I can hear the thick wazobia accent in the background. If I need to hear akata talk, I rather take a drive downtown than waste money on fakes. Anyday I will stick to a Mainframe movie, at least I will be delighted that I'm watching a through Naija movie. My Jamaican colleague keep wondering who does the sub-titling in the Yoruba movies. God dey |
because their votes doesn't count. Voting is just a ceremonial thing in Nigeria and that's why the results never tallies with the number of voters |
Which way Nigeria, see more at http://elendureports.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=256&Itemid=33 |
Recycled tired legs. Like say our votes matter. |
As an omo leyin Jesu it is not good to talk bad about our religious leaders and also as a responsible being, it is not good to talk bad about dead people. With the way things are going in Nigeria, where religious leaders are worst than the so called "Keferis", I think public officers should be required to swear the oath of office with Sango, Amadiora or Sanponna. I was surprised the other day, that a late pastor and civil servant's family were quarelling on his estates that worths over 7B Naira. I think it's hightime we took things to the next level, come 2007 no more swearing in with the Holy Bible and Holy Quran. Imagine a scene like this, I Chief (Dr.) Lagbaja Omotamodo, do solemnly swear with this lion head that if I ever steal from my people, may the god of lighting and thunder cut my head off in broad daylight. What do you think? |
Seun, you dey ball ooo! |
Fox that was before oo, you can't do that now, it is illegal. See http://www.theregister.co.uk/2005/01/26/dell_domain_dispute/ Can law enforcement prosecute you for domain name theft? Yes, law enforcement can prosecute a registrant for registering a domain name under false pretenses, under false approachment and even for stealing a copyrighted or trademarked name. Cease and desist orders are initial notices sent to the someone using a copyrighted name. This is usually the first and only warning, with a time notice, given to people who are in violation of copyright laws. From there, if you do cease and desist using the copyright, no further legal ramifications will be held against you; however, if you choose to ignore this warning, then the owner has a right to pursue further damages against you and your party. http://acme-web-design.info/articles/stealing-domain-names-be-wary-of-the-risk.htm |
Nice project! Let me know if I can be of any assistance. |
Nice one! |
Insert Quote To celebrate the fact that Nigerians can excel if given a fair chance on a leveled playing field. We can match techies from any part of the world be it America, Asia or Europe.. Guys thanks for your comments, no matter what America has in stock for me, if our leaders (CEO of banks, oil companies and multi-nationals) can give us the oppprotunity that foreigners give Nigerians outside our borders, I would prefer to be contributing to the It growth of Nigeria in a cozy buka facing the ocean in Lagos, than surviving the erractic weather of Atlanta, GA. I tried checking my Zenith account the other day, and I noticed that the date format was in US stadard instead of our regualr Day/Month/Year, that's what I'm trying to say. Why giving our opporutnities to foreigners when we have tons of smart Nigerians who are unemployed. Thank God, they've changed the format. The web site of Bellsouth, a comapny bigger than MTN, Glo and Celtel combined, is managed by a Nigerian. So who say we no smart! During a recent visit to Banglore, India I shook my head and wondered why ourr govt no fit make the ground fertile for outsourcing, afterall we have the manpower. |
In addition to Sbucareer's suggestion, I will suggest that you download Linux or any other version of Unix and install your oracle on it, that way you won't end up as a Windows DBA. |
Try driving an Isuzu Rodeo or Trooper on Nigerian roads and u will know that it's a match made in heaven. |
It all depends on the kind of car. Personally, I ship via container just for the peace of mind. RORO might be cheaper but the experience is sometimes not pretty. From ATL to LOS (via Savannah or Charlotte) you can get a container that will load 4 cars (2 SUVs and 2 Sedans) for $6000 (max). It takes about 21 days to get to Lagos.I'm shipping one next week. Let me know if I can be of further assistance. |
True talk! |
Nissan Maxima and Toyota Camry are reliable cars in the same category. I can get you a well maintained used 99 Camry or Maxima for about 900K to Lagos, you will be responsible for clearing. Let me know. I'm a licensed US car dealer. Rav4 can't land in Lagos for less than 1.5m, except it is stolen or lemon. |
Price of a life in Lebanon - worthy! Proce of a life in Nigeria - worthless! I don't know this man, but how many do we need to sacrifice in this stupid DEMOstration of CRAZE. I sorry for Nigeria. |
