I think I've solved the missing Kobojunkie mystery! Her last post is on the 23rd of January and she was last active on the 29th of January. Towards the end of her last posting, she started making inquiries about internet connection in Lagos! My opinion- She has relocated from Columbus back to Lagos and is yet to hook up to the internet. These are some of Kobojunkie' post just before her disappearance from NL. What part of Lagos did you go through? May I ask what particular area you live in? and what local government as well? Are you close to Lagos Rd/Aunty Kenny/St Augustine area, or far inside of Agric? How is internet connection there? Do you use 24/7 internet, if yes, which one and why? From the part highlighted in red, Kobojunkie definitely anticipated the a lack of internet connection! Not to worry people, soonest, she will be back with her annoying posts. Sometimes, Her posts are actually senseless in a very admirable way. |
I feel pained for Anambrarians for missing out on a marvellous opportunity! As the days go by, I lose hope in that thought that Nigeria will someday become a great nation. With results like this, the people of Nigeria do not deserve greatness. In our best, we will probably be like India. |
Many folks here arguing against Edoyad's point are doing so because they've never been in the north and don't understand the very strong points he has raised. Ndu Chucks, your point is very clear and understandable and I agree with the fact that such representations should happen more across the country, however you made a statement referring to the term "the northerners" and that is the point Edoyad disagrees with. Middle beltans, like Edoyad, see themselves as Middle Beltans and not as "Northerners". The term Northerner usually refers to those of the Hausa Ilk. Adamawa South where Senator Grace Bent represents is Middle belt. The Northern region is divided between the Middle belt and the Core North, The core north is predominantly Hausa/Fulani Muslim, while the middle belt is mainly Christian with so many tribes such as Jukun, Berom, Idoma,Igala, Tiv, Kataf, Igbirra, Nupe, Bachama and so many others. I had been for long periods in Taraba state, and I can tell you categorically that there is a wide difference between the core north and the middle belt both culturally and geographically, which I think, is the point Edoyad is trying to get across to the forum. Go and tell Tuface Idibia(Benue) or Wande Coal(Taraba) or M.I(Plateau) that they are northerners and they would tell you straight up that "you are wrong" and that they are "from the middle belt"! Edoyad's point is simple. while such acts are possible in the middle belt, they are practically impossible in the core north. In fact, up north, there are hardly any female politicians as the religion of Islam as practiced there, to a large extent appears to abhor female participation in politics. The core north would not even allow for a Christian from that state to be elected in any position talk less of someone from another state. |
This election might just turn out to be the freest and fairest election Nigeria ever witnessed! The campaigning by the contestants have been the best I've witnessed in Nigeria. From all the reports I'm hearing, Soludo seems like the most popular candidate! |
Its politics! But its good politics. Anambrarians are intensely catholic and would hold strongly any word that comes from the vatican. While I'm pretty sure the Vatican wouldn't be replying this one, this news would definitely get Anambrarians asking questions and get them to think twice about voting for a man who is an oath taker in the bloody Okija shrine as well as staunch supporter of baby execution(abortion). This Anambra election, I must admit has had the most matured of all electoral campaigns that I've witnessed in Nigeria. |
guente02:I call it the mystery of existence!! While some people are compelled to pay hundreds of thousands to attend school, others are paid monies to compel them to attend school. Anyways, I don't believe university tuition should ever be free or too cheap, rather scholarships should be given to high performing students who cannot afford to pay. |
Any one is ok. Whether it is Sunday, Monday Friday or whenever. What is important is that you have a personal relationship with your creator! |
And I knew this article wouldn't be complete if Jarus didn't reference Lamidi in it! Anyways, one of the Obasanjo twins, the cement mallam to be specific has now towed James Abrahamovic's path by bragging all over the media how he paid his debts of $1.27billion 5 years before schedule! It's all Lamidi's fault sha! |

Aisha. . . . I am miles away from ABJ! But not 2 worry, I'll find a way to redeem my pledge! I need a contact though! |
Have you noticed that there have been no attacks from Hamas or Hezbollah on Israel since the Israel onslaught. I did not support Israel's actions, however, I must admit that it kept the Israelis safe throughout last year. |
I am packing my load. . . . . .I am leaving Nigeria!!! I can't take this!! |
Every poll I've seen anywhere both on the internet, in the newspapers or whereever, all indicate a wide margin victory for Soludo. In a free and fair election , Soludo wins! If the election is rigged with the PDP rigging machine, Soludo wins. So anyhow it goes, Soludo is the Solution come Saturday February 6th!!

I was in the Niger Delta creeks today! I was returning to location around 7pm this evening when when I saw a large number of strange looking, fully kitted, armed to the tooth soldiers, heaped up on a strange looking armored vehicle heading deep into the creeks. They looked so battle ready. Looks like they've gotten new, sophisticated equipments! The soldiers I saw is proof that the Government is taking MEND's threat very seriously. They've mobilized their forces to safeguard oil installations. Their deployment is a waste of time sha. MEND definitely has better strategies. The government knows that MEND holds the key to the continued survival of this contraption called Nigeria. The only reason Nigeria still stands today is because the oil money flowing out of the Delta is the source of food for all politicians from every part of the country. Stop the flow of oil and this country will crumble in seconds!!MEND has the power to do just that. |
that is,Govt can make a law allowing all new entrants to build operate and transmit power independent of the PCHN transmission facilities this is impossible now if they do this, then even if new entrants concentrate in the south Govt can still use the govt owned grid network to supply cheap power to the northern states and it will be a win win for everybody its just a matter of political will, like wale tinubu said Ppl are afraid that they will no longer be able to chop as minister of power remember we used to have communication minister, NITEL Dg,and so on. . these were so called powerful ministries and positions in the past now with GSM no one cares. . .
Exactly! This is the perfect solution! While the private sector can focus on Lucrative markets like Lagos, the Federal Government will be well able to handle the less lucrative markets! The whole country will benefit! Just 8 years ago, there were less than one million telephone lines in Nigeria, today there are well over 70 million! Why can't the powers that be just see this and implement same in the power sector ![]() |
Dirty Farida In stores soon- Watch out!! |
^^^^^^ Wind quality all over the Nigerian hinterland is very unreliable! The only place you can install wind turbines successfully in Nigeria is in the coastal states by the Atlantic ocean! |
asha 80:Yeah! Kano and Kaduna do have a pretty sizey economy, but the question is- How do you get natural gas from the Niger Delta all the way to the north? The cost of building gas pipelines all the way to the north will scare away the richest Arab sheik!! The only other options would have been alternative sources like solar energy, however this is too expensive for Northern State Governments and not profitable at all for any private investor! |
Obasanjo is definitely the best we had! The guy had a passion for the job and worked real hard in the area of re-engineering our economy! He had an excellent team working for him and that makes all the difference. He did have a lot of short comings, but he is still the best we've had! |
Tsiya:Yes you are right that we need a national grid. However, under normal circumstances, it should not be compulsory to turn in all the power you generate into the national grid! You should only turn in power you don't need so that others can pay for it and make use of it. Allow states and other private organs generate and distribute electricity and our power problems would be solved in less than 5 years. Just look at what happened in the telecoms sector. The reason the government is not willing to review this policy boils down again to the northern hegemony. If the power sector is privatised, almost all investments in the sector would go down south both because of the proximity to Natural Gas in the Niger Delta and the fact that the largest market for energy use is in the south, Almost no investments will go to up north because the cost of transporting gas coupled with the relatively small economy in the north would naturally discourage any investor. |
KnowAll:You really think it is the North's turn? Ok look at this scenario: If a fresh Northerner takes over in 2011, do you think he will be willing to reliquish power in 2015 after just 4 years, just so that the South can now take its turn?? The wise thing for southerners to do now is to checkmate the north by either by sopporting Jonathan to continue in 2011 or by fielding a very credible candidate that would knock out any potential tribalistic northerner. For me, If the north presents candidates like Ribadu or El Rufai easily vote them many other southerners except the likes of Donald Duke or Fashola. |
guru02:Which Government?? The one in Saudi?? |
Aisha. . . . . I'm game. I will do the DVD player. So how do I go about it ![]() |
ode remo:Its good we finally have something to agree on. We would need to have any of such agreements tabled before the United Nations and other reputable world bodies before we conclude seperating the county, In the event of a disagreement or a breach of agreement, these bodies would serve as mediators and both nations would abide by whatever the outcome in the same way that Nigeria gave up Bakassi after the international court ceded it to Cameroun. |
"There is fire on the mountain top and Nobody seems to be on the run" "One day the river will overflow and there will be no where for people to go"- ASA Nigeria is sitting on a keg of petrol! One day someone will strike a match and the whole place will be on fire! Rwanda did not start in a day. Neither did Bosnia. Neither did Sierra Leone nor Congo. It all started with intense hatred between rival groups and then pockets of tension everywhere. These religious tensions are getting worse by the day and it is obvious they would only continue to escalate until they probably consumate in a full blown war. Ever since the introduction of Sharia in Northern Nigeria these crisis have taken on a very regular turn. They have even worsened since the advent of the Yar Adua presidency. There is no doubt that the only solution to this crisis is to split this country along religious lines just like the India-Pakistan scenario. But the question is: How can this be achieved peacefully without much bloodshed. The North is against a split because they would lose out on the oil largesse. That is easy to solve. The south can offer up 50% of its oil to the north for the next 10 or 15 years years just to get out of this horrible marriage called"ONE NIGERIA" that the British put us in. The other problem is the fact that the north is landlocked so they would not have easy access to their imported goods. That's easy to solve. The south would offer duty free clearance to all Northern bound goods for the next 10-15 years. Other areas of potential contention would be states like Taraba, Plateau, Benue and all those other predominantly Christian areas in Northern Nigeria. That's easy also. A referendum would allow the people of such areas decide which country they would prefer to belong. Also, individuals should be given the freedom to decide which country amongst North and South they prefer to be citizens of. A split can be achieved peacefully without bloodshed. I am tired of the violence and its not going to abate anytime soon. We need to start realistically looking for a solution and quickly before it swallows everybody. |
Soludo is the Solution |
I like it!!! Nice! |

SixoNine:Are you serious Please tell me something we don't know!Farida Waziri is after these people for robbing customers ![]() Tell me you believe what you just wrote!! As regards bailing the banks, if Oceanic had no money and was on the verge of collapse, why then did Sanusi first approve the audited results of Oceanic bank as well as give them the go ahead to pay dividend b4 turning around to sack the CEOs. The truth is in the open about Sanusi and his vendetta mission. Its only a matter of time b4 his actions would fall upon him same as it did his crony Mutallab Snr! |
Dude mehn, you are doing more damage to the name you intend to promote!! I don't know this Senator you are talking about, but because of the few things you've written here on Nairaland, I already dislike the guy!! |
I'm surprised that many people are believing this nonsense. It's sad to know that I share the same country with many folks here who are so naive as to swallow virtually everything without asking questions! Who will save this country from the ignorance of its people? What kind of education did many of the folks on here get? While I do sincerely think Mrs Ibru wasn't straightforward in many of her dealings especially as regards some loans like the one she gave Ascot for the purchase of Wilbros, there is no way she would siphon money as large as is purported without it having a direct impact on Oceanic's ability to meet up with cash calls from depositors!! Asides, the Ibrus have been wealthy for decades even b4 independence!! |
