@ lightest.

What are the chances? I did not see your post before replying and after posting mine I saw yours. what are the chances that 2 people probably in different parts of the world would be thinking along the same lines and post similar responses on the same forum at around the same time. Abi you be my unknown twin?
TV/MoviesRe: Is Rita The Koko Mansion's Biggest Mistake? by pappilo(m): 11:21am On Aug 08, 2009
I dont watch Koko mansion but my madam has told me a lot about this Rita and I have also seen a few clips of the girl. The only thing people have against the girl is that she cant speak English but no one can argue against the fact that the guy has unrivaled confidence. If that girl attends an interview for a job she,ll get it before most of her critics. By the way, how many of our so called footballing ambasadors can speak english better tha Rita, them Kanu, Okocha e.t.c.? The only reason we accept these people is because they are multi-millionaires. Naija people can sabi worship money!
PropertiesRe: Pictures Dont Lie: The Real Mowe And Ofada Agents Wont Tell You About by pappilo(m): 6:08pm On Aug 07, 2009
Thanks for this. Unfortunately it is coming a bit too late for me as my madam has already sunk about £3000 into a possibly non existent plot of land in Mowe. The sad thing is that it was her brother who lives in Naija and should know better who convinced her to make the investment. It was originally about £1800 then every other month you hear they now need N50,000 for this, we need N150,000 for that. With all the money invested , she still hasnt set eyes on one piece of documentation for the said plot of land. I cant wait to show her your post when she gets back.
PoliticsRe: Bank Teller Loses His Job For Trying To Stop A Robber: by pappilo(m): 8:55pm On Aug 06, 2009
Most of the responses here are dumb! You make it look as easy as if it was a case of the Bank instructing its tellers not to swear at a customer regardless of provocation. This brave man was caught up in an armed robbery. It is not you everyday case of dealing with a loud and irate customer. When someone walks up to your window and tells you he has a gun, no amount of training can prepare you for such a situation. At that point in time it is a case of fight or flight, it is human nature. The man acted on Impulse. How can you fire a person for being a human being.

I rememeber a case in the UK where a child drowned in a lake because 2 police community officers who could swim refused to jump in to rescue the child because they werent trained to rescue drowning people. Basically saying it is not in my job description

Nigeria is 25
The 'art' we did survive
Arise salute the Nation
Come join the celebration
A people united will never fall
on our 'blah blah', its the almighty
blah blah blah blah
blah blah blah blah

Anyone remeber the rest and the right lyrics?

What about Speedy Racer. Was he No 5 or 10? Cant really remeber. I,m sure you all knew his brother No 9 was actually faster than he was.

I like the theme song for Robin Hood as well and could never get my head round why that big guy was called lil John

Burning Train: I cried my eyes out!

Theme song to Allo Allo makes me cry, I dont know why. Same for Muppet Babies. I loved Fraggle Rock as well. Anyone remeber that episode when they had no water and I think it was Gonzos 'Ajala travel' uncle gave him an umbrella and they used it to tap the pipes while singing

Please water run
Please water run
Please water
please water
please water run.

I also remeber this song from a scene from Sesame street

I went to the barbers shop
told him to cut my hair
Cos I have never seen my face
Since 1964
Snippity snip.

To the dude who remebers tyhe lyrics to Nigeria is 25, can you please post it.

Thanks

Some strange ones bring back the years for me;

Festac 77 : Anyone one remeber the theme song? It reminds me of stealing VIP from my dads room.

KiddieVision 101: It is time for kiddievision 101, it is time for me,

Tom Grattons War.

Tom Sawyyer.

Voltron: Honestly, I didnt see may episodes of it cos my bloody school was miles away from home and by the time we arrived it was finished so had to make do with Thundersub or Terrahawks. This period also reminds me of the smell of the food that was prepared and left in a food flask by my mom. There was always this plastic smell to it but loved it still.

Top of the Pops: Olisa Adibua, Damn that man is old!
CareerRe: A Banker's Ordeal= Advise Needed by pappilo(m): 5:33pm On Mar 07, 2009
I normally dont reply to posts on nairaland but this your case touches the heart. Not critisizing Naija but one thing for sure is that in Europe this will never have happened to you. Even if it did, there are strong laws that will make sure you come out on top. I doubt if any reputable organisation in Europe will even treat you this way.

People dont have hearts again in Naija. Here we have someone who has been given a second chance at life at his emplyers have thrown him to the dogs. It all comes down to cost savings as no organisation wants to pay for services not rendered. I wonder if there is a statutory sick pay scheme in naija. Its easy for me to say but have you tried applying to other banks? Like someone said earlier what you should do is clear your name vis a vis no school records and confirm (written if possible) if your employer is willing to give you a reference. I doubt if you will be able to achieve anything through the courts as that costs a lot of money and you probably be getting close to retirement age by the time the case is decided

I wish you good luck and I hope the outcome favours you.

@ blatant

U r a blatant liar!

If your car breaks down on a motorway in the UK, u dont pay any bloody fine! You have phones on the road to call the emergency services to get a free tow to the hard shoulder if the vehicle is obstructing traffic.

TravelRe: What Are The Safest Parts Of Lagos? by pappilo(m): 10:42am On Apr 20, 2008
Try Akowonjo area, near the Dopemu axis it is relative safe around there. I live there and have had no problems whatsoever. Sabo Ajangbadi in Okoko is another option. Like earlier posted, it depends on a number of factors, like where you work, family e.t.c. Also keep a profile that is commensurate with the area you live in.

cheers

I am not saying the guy is lying. If the stories i read were in Ovation I wouldnt care. I am talking about his articles in Thisday when he writes about normal issues in life but always thinks it is necessary to chip in these unecessary lines about where he has been or who he has met.
CelebritiesDo You Think Dele Momodu Is Egotistic? by pappilo(op): 9:25am On Apr 09, 2008
I think the guy is arrogant and boastful. Everytime I read a story he writes, he is always writing stuff along the lines of; I was with the president, I went to paris 4 times in the last week, I was in the first class lounge. He seems to drop these sort of lines after every 4 sentences or so even when it is of no relevance to the point he is trying to pass across. what do you guys feel?
TV/MoviesRe: Kenny And D-1: Boring! by pappilo(m): 6:23pm On Apr 02, 2008
The last time I saw kenny, D1 and ID on TV must have been like '99. Are they still putting on their fake accents? The only one I could stand was D1 because he looked young and he really didnt fake any stupid accent. That keke must be like 50 years old now!

All the peeps comparing their show to Larry king live and Jerry springer must have screws lose. The poster that posted 'imagine having Larry king hosting TRL' has said it all.

Even though I hate that Keke guy the truth must be told; he and his team opened the doors for a lot of young people in Naija.

CultureRe: My Boyfriend Wants To 'Take An Oath' In Nigeria by pappilo(m): 2:29pm On Nov 12, 2007
I couldnt resist this:

I like 'oats'. I have taken it with my wife in the past and will do so in the future. I have also taken 'oats' with my family. I don think there is anything wrong with taking 'oats'. It will keep you and you husband strong and healthy. If he is going to take the 'oats', make sure he does it right i.e with a lot of milk and sugar. one last thing make sure it's Quaker Oats

sorry!
SportsRe: Fans Of Nigerian Football Clubs? by pappilo(m): 11:35am On Oct 10, 2007
Abiola Babes was my team. I loved them a lot and I used to follow the Nigerian league when I was much younger and did not even care about these foreign teams. The Nigerian league has seen no improvent for years hence the reason why so many Nigerians love the European leagues. If the nigerian league can return to its glory days or even half the level of the european leagues then you,ll surely see people supporting their local teams once again

CelebritiesRe: 2face Shot And Robbed On Arrival From UK by pappilo(m): 7:30am On Oct 06, 2007
Most of you guys posting replies are clowns! Who is after Tuface? answer is NOBODY. Why must you people make a big deal out of nothing. In Nigeria we live in today it is possible for someone to be attacked by armed robbers twice in two years infact it is a very common occurence. I  was attcked 3 times in a 6 month period. The attack on Tuface was a random one and it could have been anyone. Spare a thought for the other people that were robbed and maybe killed by these SOB on the same day Tuface was attacked.

Anyways hope the niggy gets well soon!
