The witnesses say that Babylon the Great in the book of revelation stands for all false religions. In other words, all religion that is not Jehovah's witnesses are under the title Babylon the Great. They say these because the bible condemn Babylon for their spiritistic practices.

However, see the clear meaning at Rev 17:
18 And the woman whom you saw means the great city that has a kingdom over the kings of the earth.”

Simply put, it means the the Great City, but this city has a kingdom over the kings of the earth. It is not even a world empire as supposed by the witnesses. It is a city. It is possible that a city can have influence over other nations. Was it not what the ancient city of Babylon did? Mind you, Babylon was still standing as at this time John wrote this. How do you know if this verse is not about Babylon? There is admittedly differences of opinion here. Many scholars see this city as Rome. Some say it's Jerusalem. Iam not arguing for anyone. We can't be dogmatic.

When arguing Rev 20;13-15, the witnesses usually says that Lake of fire means the second death because that is what the verse said, but they now came to Rev 17:18, they saw means, they gave it rather another meaning when the bible has already told us the meaning.

If you want to teach another, no wahala, but don't just keep condemning other religions for your imperfect doctrine. You may just be wrong and you don't know.

Jehovah witnesses are terribly wrong by teaching themselves that Babylon the great implies religious groups other than their own Jehovah witness. It shows how myopic and deceptive the organization can be to them who are taking such teachings seriously.
But however, if you understand the visions of Daniel in relation to revelations of John, you will have a critical explanation why Babylon the great is written in the book of revelation.

Babylon the great refers to the idolatory practiced by that great ancient city called Babylon right from the old testament era of Daniel, Michaic and Abednego and perhaps even up to the era Jesus was crucified and there was on-set of Christianity.
At that time, few people practiced Christianity and were persecuted by a vast majority of
people practicing idolatry from the great city called Babylonian.

Also, notice that practicing idolatry at that time was like practicing a religion.
And Christianity was another new religion that had started springing up with few adherents.
Not just only the idolarerers percecuted Christians, even the Jews who practiced Judaism had also persecute Christians.

So, persecution was a spiritual battle mentioned by Daniel's prophecies which also reflected in the book of revelation as Babylon the great

With this, Jehovah witnesses are only putting themselves into deception, not having a clue of what they are teaching

I am a churchgoer and partake in church activities I think I can. I am not an ultra-religious person.
To be frank I am a Christian because I was born in southern Nigeria. I think I might have been a Muslim as well if I were born in the northern part of Nigeria.
I am not fanatical about religion. I question practice and creeds.
I believe people practice whatsoever religion closest to them for this reason I don't see any religion as unapproved.
And for this reason I go to church and worship God only.
Now my Church wants me to go beyond this by appointing me a Deacon. How can you appoint someone with my description above a Deacon?
I have told them I do not have the charisma of what they want from me. Others are interested in said position why force on an unwilling fellow?
Please I need an advice.

This tells you that God is still backing them no matter what you think about them.

Infact, there are many pastors in Nigeria who have suffered controversial scandals in the past that were even more than tattoo or dreadlocks, their churches are still very strong today.

Like any other religious group you still have unlearned people among you, though it's normal.

It was the effort of parents and grandparents of these societies that encouraged formal and informal education of their wards who later grow up to become political leaders, socialists and capitslists who influenced a better society through development and enforcement of effective laws and constitution

Saying God do not exist is like saying, you do not exist. Because you are actually the evidence of God's existence simply because you have faith in him.

When Christ was crucified, you were crucified with him, probably you were actually there at the point of his crucifixion, and you are still living till today though you had died several times. And you will continue to live in that manner forever and ever.

God lives in you.,
Your body is his temple.

You don't need any other temple but your body.
You don't need any other prophet but you and God. You are the prophet for yourself.

If that is so, why then most times do we find ourselves running after pastors?
It happens because we are ignorant of this fact.

The day we know, that will just make the difference, from that point we will become fulfilled believers.

Your success in your career and ambition is absolutely dependent on you looking inwardly and remain focus on doing what you know how to do best.

It's an extensive Word, not limited to consciousness.

Every scripture that mentioned the word MIND points to consciousness.

For instance,

Romans 8:5 For they that are after the flesh do MIND the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit.

We keep thinking that heaven is far away from us, meanwhile heaven is here in the real sense.

The question is, if heaven was far away beyond the clouds,away from this earth, how then do the King of the earth bring their glory to it?

And remember Jesus teaching his disciples to pray that let thy will be done on earth?

Remember the first instruction God gave to Adam and Eve that they should replenish the earth?
For this reason Christ died and resurrect to restore back the eternal life Adam and Eve lost.

Certainly, our body will change on this earth when we resurrect

According to Oxford dictionary it refers to the mental consciousness of the body in relation to the environment. That means it is part of the body and not part of the spirit.

The mind is located in the brain, it is centre of consciousness. And when the body dies, the mind siezed to be conscious of anything.
Compare that to the soul which is the total self of person(his body + his spirit)

Since the mind is part of the body, the mind dies with the body, but the spirit lives on.

If you're a Christian, check the story of Prophet Samuel whose Soul was summoned from the grave by Paul, and he still remembered things properly.

well, i don't think that story applies to the new covenant in Christ where there is resurrection of the dead.

1 Corinthians 15:35 But some man will say, How are the dead raised up? and with what body do they come?

When you read 1 Corinthians 15 from 35 down, you will notice that we will be given new body when we resurrect as Christians.
In the old testament that wasn't so because Christ has not been crucified at that time talkless of resurrection.
So, it was possible then, that Samuel could remember since he wasn't given a new body neither was he resurrected.
New body implies that old things have passed away. 2 Corinthians 5:17

Also make reference to the Transfiguration of Jesus on the mountain where He was found speaking to Moses and Elijah, people who had died for ages.

These Moses and Elijah never saw resurrection, hence the least person in God's kingdom is greater than them.

This scripture, I think you need to explain to me how you understand it. Cos after reading above and below, especially verse 19, it is understood that according to the Paul, If anybody accepts to walk with Christ, to live for Christ, then that person's previous sins and other lifestyle has been forgotten (forgiven) and everything starts afresh for the person. All things become new.

walking or living for Christ there implies believing in Christ for eternal life. John 3:16
And eternal life implies resurrection in the last day.
Remember, 1 Corinthians 15 suggest that our body will be changed when we resurrect.
So 2 Corinthians 5:17 saying old things are passed away : it is strictly saying that our old body will pass away the day we die. And we will resurrect with a new body thereby making us a new creature.

Do you see a new born baby?
He has no memory or experience whatsoever unlike Samuels memory after he had died.

Now that is a new creature

I can say that, the evolution is rather a very gradual process and we have a very long way to go especially in Africa, in terms of understanding what the church should stand for.

Europian churches have made significant progress over the years and are very much stable. But Africans, due to our dogmatic traditions that have infused into our church teachings, we have made our churches stagnant, hence our society as well.

Anyway, kudos to all the churches mentioned above by the op. They have played their roles towards a better evolving church in the future

TRIXX NG reports that graduating students of the University Of Benin (UNIBEN) were seen throwing millions of naira in the air earlier today to celebrate their sign-out.

Apparently, they just finished their exams today but decided to celebrate it in a classy way.

They stormed the school campus with exotic vehicles in troops immediately they finished their exams.

Most times, Christians today look at Faith as one supernatural means to pray and achieve miracles or immediate solution to their problems. But that isn't the primary purpose.

For us to understand why we have faith, there are three things to consider scripturally:

1. Without faith, it is impossible to please God . Hebrews 11:6

2. Faith is synonymous to religion and nothing more. For instance, the Jewish religion(the old covenant) made the Israelites to have zeal for God especially in the old testament. Romans 10:2
So the old covenant represents one religion or faith (Judaism)
The new covenant represents another religion or faith (Christianity)
So invariably, the first point is ssying WITHOUT RELIGION IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO PLEASE GOD

3. Faith as any religion, is associated with cultures and traditions:
what that means is that, various faiths or religions comes with various tribes and cultures. For instance, the Jewish tribes in the old testament was associated with the old covenant which was the faith Abraham their forefather had with God. Hence, Abraham was justified by his faith or religion. Romans 4:3
Similarly, the gentiles were associated with idolatry and that was their faiths or religions. Hence, according to the old testament God hates idolatry which was their religions. Little wonder we see Christians in Africa today after reading the bible, we tend to go against or destroy idolatry like ogun, orunmila, sango etc, and to seek God.(but we don't do that to Islam, and i wonder why?)

Don't get me wrong, treat all religions equally, whether they are Islam or African traditional worshippers.

Also, when you read the book of Daniel, after Nebuccadnezar had held the Israelites in captivity, there were gods or deities in Babylon that Daniel, Shadrack, Mishak and Abednego had refused to worship. Babylon was a culture or a kingdom that was associated with their own faith or religion which was also idolatry.
So, when Nebuccadnezar saw the statue in his vision, each segments of that statue were made of different kind of materials such as bronze, silver, gold, brass, Iron and clay mixed to form the feet(Daniel 2:33).These segments of the statue represents various kingdoms or cultures with their religions that were to rule the world after Babylon is conquered.
For instance, the Jewish society at the time Jesus was crucified was a mixture of cultures(Acts 2:5),which represents the mixture of iron and clay Nebuccadnezar saw at foot of the statue in his vision.
The dominant culture of these cultures or traditions among the people were to impose their faiths or religions to the world which refers to people living in that region at that time, not necessarily the whole world. (reference to mark of the beast or 666.Revelation 19:19-20 or Babylon the great.Revelation 18:10-21) which these figures represents religions that dominated and persecuted Christians at that time(also known as the end time. Matthew24:1:2.
Hence they were the Antichrists) at the time they dominated and rule world(the biblical region over 2000 years ago compared to our current era).
These notable kingdoms were Israel and Babylon, The Median and Persian Empire(Daniel 5:28), the Greek, empire and The Roman Empire(the time of Christ's crucifixion and resurrection), including the Barbarian cultures that later conquered the long trending Roman empire at 15AD. (Historical account not included in the bible)

Matthew 24:6 (Jesus talking to his disciples at mount olive) And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars (That is, wars among these empires) see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.(ie the crucifixion of Christ is not yet)

HOW DOES FAITH APPLIES IN TODAY'S WORLD?

Among the segments of the statue Nebuccadnezar saw, there was a stone that came out to struck all the other segments into pieces and grow to become a great mountain which will never be destroyed but last forever (Daniel 2:44-45) . This stone represents a Faith or religion(not necessarily any culture or tradition), and that religion is Christianity (which is the resurrection of Christ. Also check Jesus mustard seed parable .matthew 13:31-32. And compare that with the stone in Daniel 2:34-35).

Daniel 2:35 Then was the iron(one religion or faith and it culture.eg The Jewish culture, religion and the Gracian empire), the clay(another religion and it
culture.eg Roman empire), the brass,(another religion and it culture.eg Persian empire) the silver(another religion and it culture.eg Greek empire), and the gold(another religion. eg Babylon and the median empire)), broken to pieces together, and became like the chaff of the summer threshing floors; and the wind carried them away, that no place was found for them: and the stone(Christianity or Jesus Christ) that smote the image became a great mountain, and filled the whole earth.

This vision of Nebuccadnezar has been fulfilled today.

Christianity is God's kingdom that has been fulfilled.
It is the kingdom that Christ preached(mentioned in all his parables before he was crucified).
All Christians ought to preach God's kingdom (but unfortunately, we end up preaching vain works instead of faith as the only basis of our salvation, confusing ourselves).
Christianity is the only religion that deserves all tribes, cultures, traditions, people, races across the world.(Habakuk 2:14 prophesy)
