Now about the composition f the Bible let me ask you this If you die and discover that catholics actually composed the bible and was actually the true church left by the Apostles will you still long to enter heaven
GOD will be our witness,if you are so sure that NO is the answer as you so profess why don't you say so. is:

ABOVE ALL YOU WILL BE GUILTY OF WEAKENING THE FAITH OF COUNTLESS CHRISTIANS AS YOU MUST HAVE BEEN DOING ,BOTH ONLINE AND OFFLINE @Chukwudi44, I'm appalled at your post! Though a lot of things now make sense sha. Didn't know you're catholic o! That aside, I know your post is directed at OLAADEGBU but I'll just quickly respond to some of the issues I found to be gross untruths in your posts. 1. The Catholics did not compose the bible. 2. The RCC is not, at least as we know it and like its been for most of its history, the church left by the apostles. For starters, the apostles did not build or leave an organization. 3. I'm sure its Mary, Jesus' earthly mother that you're referring to as "MOTHER OF GOD". This, in the simplest terms possible, is pure falsehood! Its 101% unbiblical and unchristian, even though its a catholic belief. Be rest assured its not Christian, and not true. 4. Which "saints" are you referring to? If you were referring to dead catholic "saints". . . . those guys are not even saved (and even fall under the category of false prophets), so they can't be saved by biblical/christian standards. But by RCC standards. . . . maybe |

OLAADEGBU: False Prophets And True
“And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many” (Matthew 24:11).
In the apostolic period, two main gifts of the Spirit were those of the apostle and prophet. In fact, the church itself was “built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets” (Ephesians 2:20). One function of these men was to receive and transmit God’s revelation to His people—first verbally, then eventually written in permanent form in the New Testament. “Which in other ages was not made known unto the sons of men, as it is now revealed unto His holy apostles and prophets by the Spirit” (Ephesians 3:5).
The Apostle Paul revealed also that such prophecies would cease once they were no longer needed. “When that which is perfect [or ‘complete’] is come, then that which is in part shall be done away” (I Corinthians 13:9,10). Clearly in the context, this refers to the complete revelation of God. When the last book of the Bible was transmitted to the church by the last living apostle, the Lord warned us neither to “add unto” nor to “take away from the words of the book of this prophecy” (Revelation 22:18,19).
But many false prophets have indeed “gone out into the world” (I John 4:1), just as Jesus warned, and they have “deceived many.” One of them, a self-asserted seventh century “prophet” from Arabia, received certain “revelations” from a “god” that were vastly different from those of the God of the Bible, and his followers now number over a billion.
There have been others, before and since, and the Lord Jesus warned us always to “beware of false prophets” (Matthew 7:15). The basic criterion by which to test any alleged prophecy, ancient or modern, is whether or not it fully conforms to the written word of God, the Bible. “To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them” (Isaiah 8:20). HMM True words. . . But you dey fine trouble oh. . . Me I no dey o. . . |

Above is the comprehensive list of all "prophets" referenced in the quran (forget all that nonsense talk of allah having sent 25,000 amorphous prophets).
Here is one big problem . . . with the exception of mohammad, VIRTUALLY ALL THE OTHERS are biblical characters!
Here is another problem . . . the person who claimed all these as prophets of allah is the ONLY ONE ABSENT FROM THE BIBLE! virtually all the other men of the bible referenced one or the other at some point . . . NONE MADE A SINGLE REFERENCE TO MOHAMMAD!
Another big problem . . . the jews recognise ALL the above men EXCEPT ONE!
How was Elisha a "prophet" of allah for example? How was Jonah a prophet of allah? Did mohammad simply pick the most prominent biblical characters of the OT and just call them allah's prophets? why for example is Ezekiel on that list while Jeremiah, Micah, Nahum and Amos are absent? Where these men simply too obscure in jewish history for mohammad to bother co-opting them into his allah?
Elijah for example is known to have anointed kings of Israel with oil, when did allah dump the anointing as his prefered method of selecting Jewish kings?

Even your own hadith that you quoted exposes this falsehood glaringly for all but the extremely stupid. For how long will you continue to believe a lie simply because mohammad said it? Are ye all nothing but programmed robots?
"She lived in that way till some people from the tribe of Jurhum or a family from Jurhum passed by her and her child, as they (i.e. the Jurhum people) were coming through the way of Kada'. They landed in the lower part of Mecca where they saw a bird that had the habit of flying around water and not leaving it. They said: 'This bird must be flying around water, though we know that there is no water in this valley.' They sent one or two messengers who discovered the source of water and returned to inform them of the water. So, they all came (towards the water). Ishmael's mother was sitting near the water. They asked her: 'Do you allow us to stay with you?' She replied: 'Yes, but you will have no right to possess the water.' They agreed to that. Ishmael's mother was pleased with the whole situation, as she used to love to enjoy the company of the people. So, they settled there, and later on they sent for their families, who came and settled with them so that some families became permanent residents there. The child (i.e. Ishmael) grew up and learned Arabic from them and (his virtues) caused them to love and admire him as he grew up, and when he reached the age of puberty they made him marry a woman from amongst them."
If Ishmael learnt arabic from the jurhums as a child, how is he the father of the arabs?
I cant believe some can be so deliberately daft.
This is absolute nonsense. Putting you straight would be a waste of time. Just mindlessly repeating what the ignorant mohammad told you with no proof and in the presence of numerous contradictory evidence is an example of a brainwashed cult. jeez! |
Christianity Etc › Re: Miracles And Faith Acts - Should They Always Be Accompanied By Seeds/offerings? by petres007(m): 6:16pm On Sep 27, 2009 |
trekkie: oral roberts claims the revelation of seed faith was given to him 61 yrs ago by God. i believe him. he says it worked for him to get out of debt but you know in the christian world, there are always bandwagoners. everyone jumps on every new revelation given to someone else rather than seek god for themselves. of course God does not always require seed/offering for miracles that would make them bribery. if you remember the story of naaman the leper, when he attempted to give elisha the gifts, elisha rejected the gifts. seeding may be required on occasion but you need to hear from god. that is why god desires a personal relationship with everyone. the pastor should not be your middle man to god but he is your shepherd. that is not to say that God does not reveal stuff to his servants to tell his children but we too should learn to cultivate that intimacy with HIm. You see, thats one of the major problems with Christendom today: A "man of god" claims God who according to the scriptures, has spoken (once for all time) very clearly through his Son, and by extension the apostles, supposedly spoke to him privately telling him things ("revelations" that are contrary to his already revealed Word. And you "believe him"? I find this quite amazing! brein: Hey lady, it varies from the biblical perspective in which you see the whole scenario, however u also do not expect all the so-called Christians of the New Covenant (New Testament Laws) to abide by it, there must be false doctrines which contradicts the New Testament Laws of Jesus Christ. This is the more reason why U and I need the Holy Spirit to guide us through to know what and do the right things.
If u read the book of Hebrews 11 there u'll find out what "FAITH" is all about as faith is what interpretes our actual position with God in the Christian race.
@Topic. You need to know what works best for u, though i myself am not so grinded in the word but by His Grace i can do all things. The only Law i know of is the commandment of "Sowing Seeds" and giving/paying Tithes and Offerings. Jesus made so much emphasis on these. (can't place any reference now) NOW!! The bible says do not judge nor condemn 'a man of God (my opinion), yes i know there are false pastors and prophets, Just know what works best for you by sowing seeds for prayers. I'll be back to tell u more. #1. No bros, our own no go different na. We have the scriptures for guidance, and besides, it was through the scriptures that the Holy Spirit "guided" the early believers. Not having private conferences with them. #2. Christianity has nothing to do with what works, like you've said, and like our so-called men of god preach today - it's about the TRUTH! Whether it "works" or not - whatever you mean by "work". ANyway, @the Blessed, you asked for varying views and now you have it. However, if you want to arrive at the truth, there's only one source - the scriptures. It is well. |

OLAADEGBU: I gave you the benefit of the doubt for you to come out clean as to your mission here on nairaland. The thread below shows you up to be "birds of the same feather" with them. If you have any light in you you will at least tell them the truth as regarding their eternal destiny, such as teaching them the glorious gospel of love even if it causes frowns, and not just campaigning for members for your church.
https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-282213.64.html @OLAADEGBU, I'm not surprised at your comments about me sha. If you could show the kind of disregard for properly interpreting God's word like you've done (especially in tithing related threads), I'm not at all surprised how you could come up with so much untruth about me and worse still, be so confident about it. 1. Again I stress, I'm not anybody's pastor - of course, that includes KunleOshob and anybody else you may have in mind. I'm not even an usher in my church. Abeg, no koba me o! 2. About my "mission here on Nairaland", I have no idea what you're talking about! I mean, am I supposed to have a mission or what? If you're referring to my coming here to "campaign for members for my church", you're seriously mistaken. I only gave out an invitaion once and you call that campaigning for members for my church? I have a lot to say about this but I'll just let it drop so I don't come off as "anti-evangelstic". If only you knew, 3. You mentioned me telling them the truth about "their eternal destiny". From what I've observed (and this is my opinion) it's you dear sir, who's "eternal destiny" is in question, in the light of the scriptures. To be honest with you. Not once in the scriptures is it said that a Christian who falls to fornication or even kills someone risks losing his/her salvation. Its true we've been called to a life a holiness, by default, but the scriptures clearly show us that we're not going to be perfect till the Lord returns & completes what he started (in terms of sin). Now that of course, doesn't mean a christian can go on sinning as he likes, but that's talk for another day. We're clearly warned however, that if we take up anything from the law of Moses, which Jesus fulfilled and then abolished, we risk falling from the grace of God in Christ, which is the only way anyone can be put right with God now. So in light of this, I don't think KunleOshob, ttalks and the others who've been discussing these issues with you are the ones who need to check where they're standing - you are! To the best of my knowledge, they've properly handled the scriptures - whether under the tithing or false prophet threads, unlike you who seem to have your mind made up already about these things and so even twist the scriptures to suit your interpretation. I wouldn't want to be in your shoes on the last day - you seem to me like you're so close yet so, so far away from the truth. I ask that you please set aside your preconceived notions & study your bible objectively. Cheers! |

OLAADEGBU: Why don't you ask your pastor, petres_007, who has been shinning his teeth in support of your comments. Do you remember my explanation in the thread below? You have to by pass your intellectual arguments if you want this experience of grace, which by faith alone. God resists the proud but gives grace to the humble.
https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria?topic=143706.0 Good sir (@OLAADEGBU), I take it that you're joking about me being his pastor Seriously, I haven't said much (except "shining my teeth" like you said) in this thread. At least 99% of what you've done is do what most of the current crop of clergymen we have today are extremely good at - "not rightly handling the word of truth". KunleOshob, Chukwudi44 and ttalks and others have done a a pretty good job trying to explaining scriptures to you but, you seem to have your mind made up already about the issues being discussed and would rather impose your own preconceived meanings into the scriptures rather than look at the scriptures objectively, you know, letting scripture interpret scripture. And em, pls, don't allow my grinning shinning my teeth disturb you. Other folks are already doing an excellent job in the discourse. I'd rather read. Cheers! |

@OLAADEGBU, thanks for your post. But em, you forgot to explain the part I emboldened below (in red) OLAADEGBU: Let us consider the highlighted sentence above according to the Old Testament tithes.
Thou shalt truly tithe all the increase of thy seed, that the field bringeth forth year by year. And thou shalt eat before the LORD thy God, in the place which he shall choose to place his name there, the tithe of thy corn, of thy wine, and of thine oil, and the firstlings of thy herds and of thy flocks; that thou mayest learn to fear the LORD thy God always. And if the way be too long for thee, so that thou art not able to carry it; or if the place be too far from thee, which the LORD thy God shall choose to set his name there, when the LORD thy God hath blessed thee: Then shalt thou turn it into money, and bind up the money in thine hand, and shalt go unto the place which the LORD thy God shall choose: And thou shalt bestow that money for whatsoever thy soul lusteth after, for oxen, or for sheep, or for wine, or for strong drink, or for whatsoever thy soul desireth: and thou shalt eat there before the LORD thy God, and thou shalt rejoice, thou, and thine household . . ." -- Deut.14:22-26 I think it says the tither should eat his tithe (with his household) and rejoice before the LORD. em, this don't sound like the customized kinda tithing being practised today |
