grin grin grin grin I can't laugh, is it GEJ that will be impeached before the month runs out that is threating people to go back to work.
Politics / Re: Senate Tells Jonathan To Revert To 65 Naira by pharmow: 11:28am On Jan 11, 2012
I dont know what has come over GEJ, because poeple call your slow motion, coward and uncourageous should not mean that you should be so sturborn to the extent of not paying listening ears to the peolpe you are governing, even wicked leaders in the history of the world like Adolf Hitler never play with the power of people they are leading. The moment a leader underestimate the power of his people, he his walking on the path of downfall. Am sure Ghadaffi never believed his people have such power until they revolt against him and bring him down.
GEJ the people you said you want to build infrastructure said they dont want your lies, revert the fuel price shikena.
Politics / Re: Enugu Defies Ban, Joins Protest Against Subsidy Removal! by pharmow: 11:10am On Jan 11, 2012
I need to caution all that this should not turn to tribalistic bruhaha. Let all have it in mind that this protest is not only about fuel subsidy removal but a big fight against corruption. We Nigerians have been keeping quiet for too long and I think it is high time we stood up against bad governance and as fate will have it this fuel subsidy removal has triggered the objection of people to corrupt leaders mismanaging our resources. I personally do not totally object fuel subsidy removal because sooner or later there will be need for the subsidy removal but the timing is wrong and people has lost trust in the government because we have been promised severally and betrayed.

If I were GEJ I will revert the PMS price then think of building trust people have in my government before talking about fuel subsidy removal. If he thinks people will get tired and forfeit the protest as a result of hunger. He is doomed, because if it eventually happens people will lose trust in him and he will forever be tagged as one of the worst leader in the history of this country.
Politics / Re: “No Work No Pay” – Fgn To Civil Servants by pharmow: 10:29am On Jan 11, 2012
GEJ is taking the wrongest of steps. Those advising him are not his friends but people waiting for his downfall. he doesn't take him anything to swallow his pride and revert the PMS price back to 65. Then think of the next reasonable step to take. People are not totally against fuel subsidy removal but the rotten system in the country. The threat of No work No pay is not going to make people back out from this protest and I need remind GEJ that the upsurgge in middle east got worsen because their government underestimate the power of the people. Never you as a leader deafen you ears to the cry of your followers because it will surely lead to your downfall

A word is enough for the wise

goldenval:

His quest to relocate abroad and drop the shackles of poverty pushed him to the extreme of desperation. Rasheed Adekola was arrested on Tuesday at the Canadian embassy for submitting 17 fake documents in order to obtain a student visa to Canada, TOYOSI OGUNSEYE reports.

ONE, two, three, four, five…, 17! That was the number of forged documents submitted by Rasheed Adekola at the Canadian Embassy in Lagos in order to obtain a student visa.

@ goldenval thanks for the information, I hope this will serve as a good lesson to those that believe they must travel out of the country by all means by providing fake documents. I pray that this would not make the embassy to be too strict on us that want to apply genuinely

@Everyone, Please I will need your candid help and advice on my case, I'll like to study in Canada, but i only have my O'level certificate, which college or Uni will accept me in Canada? thanks

Former u're in right forum, i will urge u to go through all pages in this thread(though is gonna take time) cos u gonna gain a whole lot from doing so. To answer ur question, all the universities recognize the senior school cert as admission requirement to undergraduate courses. U can go to www.aucc.ca to start with. but what is ur age and which year did u finished ur O'level?

Thanx so much Rare, i got ur email, i will get in touch with you ASAP.
Travel / Re: Travelling To Canada by pharmow: 11:18pm On Dec 02, 2010
Rare:

Here is a web page containing contact detail for the Occupational Science program http://www.mcgill.ca/index/?Unit=239 (email: graduate.occh@mcgill.ca).
Contact them with a detailed description of your scenario, explaining how an HND ranks with respect to a Bachelor's in Nigeria. From their experience of admissions, they should be able to know how to rank equivalence. Worse case scenario, you get conditional admission requiring you to take some undergraduate courses to fulfill your entry shortfalls. I know people who have done that. But ultimately you graduate with a master's degree, which is my emphasis.
I can assist you to review the mail you send to the school, for appropriateness. You should be prepared to call them to discuss this, if it warrants it.

Thanks for the prompt response Rare. i so much appreciate your kind gesture. i will try to contact them ASAP. in respect to the assistance you said u'll give in reviewing the mail before sending it,this is my email addy femcast@yahoo.com so that u can peep ur email addy to me. once again thank you
Travel / Re: Travelling To Canada by pharmow: 10:00am On Dec 02, 2010
@ Rare,
Thank you so so much for the response, when i went to the Mcgill link, the requirement for the program are that Candidates should have completed, with high academic standing (CGPA 3.0 out of 4.0), a bachelor's degree or its equivalent, in a discipline relevant to occupational health, such as: chemistry, engineering, environmental sciences, physics, medicine, nursing or other health science.
About the CGPA i had 3.18/4.0 and by a bachelor's degree or its equivalent can they give consideration to HND. my discipline is microbiology,i think that is relevant. moreso, you said something about taking some extra terms of undergraduate courses instead of starting afresh please what do you mean by this, can you please emphasize on how to go about it. thanks, anticipating your response

concerning the minimum wages of the provinces, i never knew that ontario has the highest, thanks for the link.

Hey everyone,
I have read this thread from the 1st page to the last (though it took me 7 days to finish), i must comment that this thread has highlighted virtually all points needed to acquire student visa from CDHC, i so much appreciated the contributions of the veterans like delta007,hotstepper,debosky,mevisbleek,wonderbod etc and the recent contribution of charlie, rare, tosinosho, obietrix, harryman etc. Guys we should try to keep this thread alive cos it has helped many and we should not let the spirit die.

@all
please i want to ask some questions concerning my student permit application to canada for fall 2011, i have an HND from yabatech with upper credit, am currently working in a leading food manufacturing  company having completed my NYSC in 2009. The big questions are that i)is it possible for me to do undergraduate course by transfering credits from my post-secondary institution.if yes, is it possible to do course entirely different from the one i did for my HND   ii)which level am i likely to start with  iii)Am i not going to have issue with CDHC considering the fact that am presently 27 yrs iv) is there any institution offering BSc in Occupational health and safety in canada, i have searched the net but cant find any v)what are the minimum wages of the provinces in canada.
Your responses will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

This is a very good thread and i really like the contribution of the house to this serious and complicated issue.

I will like all nairalanders to pay serious attention to what Iranoladun said,it really shows that he/she is into the system.

Lastly i will like to correct a misguided impression the house has about the fact that HND holders specifically find it difficult to get a job.i must at this junction say that i know more of HND holders getting employed more than BSC holders including my cousin who happens to be working with chevron not as a contract staff but as a full staff(not bragging). The problems are that there are some many graduates chasing very few vacancies(i mean very, very, very few vacancies) and because of this, getting job in nigeria now is based on who u know instead of merit and on a very rare cases luck at times.my candid advice is that one should get something reasonable doing while still looking for good paying job it doesnt make sense saying in the same level for 5 years because there is no job.God will help us all in nigeria all we job seeker

Career / Re: Hnd: A Dust Certificate by pharmow: 3:56am On Aug 04, 2008
I dont know how to put it but honestly speaking i think the HND and Bsc issue needs to be iron out properly in this country,it has always been an headache for me to realised that after spending more than 5yrs in yabatech with an upper credit some organization could prefer a university 2-2 degree to my grade.Had it mean they really know what polytechnic students go thru they will never think of discriminating at all.the government needs to do a lot on this fast, as most company giving scholarship do not even try to consider polytechnic undergraduate at all even after they had been convinced beyond that polytechnic products are sound yet they keep saying the country is not developing technologically.in addition to that,a lot need to be said about the banking industry,if i say that the banks discriminate against HND, this will be a gross understatement because they kill polytechnic graduates spirit and make them regret even going to tertiary institution after burning night candles for years.i pray that this issue is given due consideration and necessary actions are taken on time.
