Dubai has a law against posting negative images or allegations against them or their citizens online.

I think that's the cause of her arrest. It doesn't matter how long ago the crime was, once you set foot on their land the person can be arrested for such crimes

Point is be mindful of other countries laws no matter how unrealistic they may be.

Education › Re: ASUU Appeals Ruling, Says FG Has Declared War by phineas:

Exactly sir! Sometimes back I gave a microbiology student of the University of Ilorin a ride. He was down and felt somewhat sad. I asked him about his woes and he told me his supervisor is insisting that that his project will be based on "Microbial flora of swimming pool" (Imagine the boring topic?) Still I asked him why he does not want the topic, his answer amazes me!
Not only has the topic been repeated consecutively for the past eight years or so! the students said students are basically told to copy formats from projects of previous students. This student however claimed to be working on the idea of building logic gates (the basic components of computer processors) with microbes! why? he said environmentally friendly biodegradable electronics. how novel!
unfortunately his ideas sounded far fetched to them and he was constrained to avoiding it.
.
Some one year later I found this kid within the campus, still with the yellow tag. If he did his project last year, he should have graduated. It turned out he spilled! He went through with his idea but his lecturers never acknowledged it. they call it farce and failed him.
I decided to make some research on his project and discovered top scientists around the world are beginning to work on it!
.
That is the problem! Smart kids are failed. The dumb ones clearly copying from old projects are passed. Nigerian lecturers seem to always catch up late. They do not create new ideas, they prefer to only work with ideas that have already been established in the west. There are still a few innovative lecturers and professors though.
Americans do not use the honors system...there has to be a reason for it. Their universities are always among the top 50 in the world. They occupy more than 50% of the first 50 or first hundred. Aiish...
This is the problem with Nigerian higher institutions.Their lecturers are abusers of various sorts. The strike is a form of abuse as well,They have absolutely no regard for their victims and the country.

Before anyone say its a fight for quality of education, I will still answer back TETFUND. ASUU should make TETFUND whatever it wants to achieve its solutions.

At a time in this country, TETFUND research money was been returned due to insufficient eligible applications. Some discussions were even ongoing to repurpose some parts of the fund due to its low level of use.

Where was ASUUs voice in all of that? ASUU was on strike. For money.

I am very disappointed in the FG.It took them this long to analyse the TETFUND to know the aspect of ASUUs strike on equipping universities is a joke

There's another part of tetfund they need to assess. The part where lecturers are entitled to research grants
Education › Re: ASUU Appeals Ruling, Says FG Has Declared War by phineas: 9:40am On Sep 23, 2022
A large proportion of our population are between 15 and 24, the majority actually. They are the people affected by this strike.

An analytical mind will understand that this strike will determine the future of a lot of Nigerians as such the country

I recommend that ;

1.The appeal court fast tracks this case. ASUU will loose. It appears ASUU is angry that the FG took them to court for this reason. Its not compulsory to settle out of court, and last we heard the main issue now is ASUU wants to be paid for 7 months of strike

2. Should the courts order them to resume and they refuse, by all means the relevant arms of Goverment must duly and also swiftly arrest them for contempt. These are old selfish men that are holding the future of youths and poor families to ransom. They deserve no pity.

3. Any ASUU member who beloved at this stage their fight is just and honourable, must by all means honourable resign and let the Goverment advertise his position. It is possible that with the teaming unemployment in the country the Goverment may find 7000 suitable applicants who apply for his position

4.every ASUU member that wants to leave the country are free to leave. Its like the Drs no one is stopping them

5.Lastly a detailed analysis of tetfund expenditure is required.I don't understand why with the amount of funds ascribed to tetfund in this country. ASUU cannot do a detailed budget analysis annually and make their case for improved quality of education through strategic engagement with Goverment agencies and parastatals why a strike always?

The military and police failed its people

All the good men in He military and police failed Nigeria.Under their watch the people became unprotected and prey to foreign mercenaries. The people they vowed to protect.

Entire villages wiped out, beloved children have been stolen from their parents, babies murdered, soldiers lost, evil men, young men and old on rampage, majority even foreign with no adequate response to their terror

The senate failed too.they appear to be worst in this matter. The leadership of this era failed its people in their response

A true soldier or defender of his people will say we will not loose 1 citizen, no matter how undeserving , or poor they may be.The soldiers and police are that line of defence.

I undertand that there are many powers and issues at stake, but ultimately it shows there are no good men in the leadership of these institutions. Not 1 who put the people and their survival and safety as priority.

Sadly this may affect the west african black race as we know it.Anihilated and subdued by uneducated rag tag militia because it's line of defence ultimately failed its people

My dear, before the American nonsense of Pentecostalism that always supported the new Jews ( only God knows where they came from), there was the British Israelites : a deluded cult of crazy white men, who went into mainstream Christianity, and had following in thousands, if not millions , in the 1920s or 30s.

Their main doctrine was that the British were a.lineage of King David, and therefore were now the new Jews , and this the inheritors of the promises made to the Jews.

But we all know that the British, like the Welsh and Irish and Romans rose from the magic/ nature religions before the new religions of Christianity and Islam.

They never practised Judaism.

It was meant to cement the belief ( false one) that the British Empire was ordained by God and would never collapse.

It collapsed.
I agree with you.Notthing in their culture support ancient practice of Judaism. The west African cultural practices, oral history, and linguistic trail is more aligned to ancient Israel than the British or any other rendition

The narration above was just an observation on the stone.I particularly like your phrase "deluded cult of crazy white men"

They went ahead to justify slavery and the common wealth as their God given legacy, and proclaimed themselves the seed of ancient isreal Despite not been circumcised.

I read about this stone a loong time ago.Book was written by some christian British pro slave type person

Here is the summary of what they believe

1. It was a coronation stone that existed before the time of Jesus

2.It was taken by the prophet with the last remnants of the royal family of Israel (forgot the prophets name, I think it was jeremiah)

3.It was moved with a daughter of the last king of isreal. From the lineage of David. It was transported by sea with the daughter to Scotland where a remnant settled

4. Her blood line they believe is the bloodline of the king of David and that of Israel

5.Coronation of Kings was to be made with the stone in reference to an ancient Israel practice

6.They believe that the present monarchy of the House of Windsor as the daughters bloodline and is of the root of David as such will always have a lineage on the throne as promised by God

There was more in the book, the author believes they are the royal family of the tribe of Judah, that's about it

HIV was the wrong example for this kind of drama. And your friend gave you beer parlour gossip

What you dont know is for every dollar reputable program gets the equivalent is spent for cross checking data

So for every 10 naira you get to work you can be sure someone is spending another 5 naira to check your data. It's called Data quality assurance

Why don't you find out what goes into HIV data quality assurance in Nigeria and come back to the topic after.

ASUU is foolish

So now that Goverment agencies including tertiary institutions are drawing up the new 2023 budget contents. The mumu ASUU is on strike.

Those with interests to protect are following the process back to back. Who is working on ASUU budget to at leqst draft their inyerest? ASUU is on strike.

When 2023 budget comes out and nothing changes at all, the clowns will start to blame Goverment again. Is ASUU not a joke like this?

If ASUU wants money they should ask to keep a percentage of their internally generated revenue.Simple.Make the money and keep it.Dont ask for money you did not earn.

It's systems and not strikes that change things.ASUU needs to work on how it engages with the systems.ASUU has no strategy.ASUU is not deliberate.ASUU acts like hijackers with its students future as the bargaining chip

Why does ASUU with all its brains not propose where the money should come from?

Why propose only a disbursement platform?

Lastly why is ASUU not telling us what happened with tetfund, I am sure ASUU does not know

Long term useless Strikes remains their best solution.ASUU should be synonymous with shame.50% of the time they have been on strike in the last 7-10 years

Weak leaders Are bad for society.Weak leaders enable criminality to thrive.

Nigeria is plagued with weak leaders, something is wrong somewhere as regards this matter.

Entire villages, conmunities wiped out.Boys murdered in dozens in their bed.Babies killed. Beloved Daughters stolen and lost.Children turned orphans.

And someone made T shirts to seek forgiveness.

For one if the state wants to forgive them for greater reasons best known to and sanctioned by State.A quiet program in another location would have been the better approach. And enlistment in such programs must be for a deserving reason.

But to print t-shirts bringing them to public like this with no form of justice of any sort .... someone ought to be fired for it.

Weak leaders Are bad for society.I pray one day perpetrators of these matters will be tried at the Hague.

When I tell you people that thoughts from nairaland go far, these are examples.

It's no coincidence this was the very strategy for fundraising for the slow spoke ASUU we were talking about on nairaland last week, a school has proven it works

IVY league schools are funded by endowments.Check the endowments of Nigerian schools they are still 2000 and 5000 naira and has been so for the last 20 years or more.As in what kind of useless endowment fund is that?

-Do annual fundraisers and take fund raising seriously.

-Open think tank sections and have your staff work as consultants.

-Reach out to your old students in high places for grants and leadership on national and international projects by university teams for all sectors , Goverment , private and the third sector.Use your lecturers and students to implement as part of coursework.Thats how schools do it abroad.

Compared to other sectors the officials pay of lecturers abroad isn't remarkable. I have seen their openings for 2000 pounds monthly.Their other through income is from such extra gigs

ASUU and the struggle people be guided

ASUU is supposed to be the home of solutions. A 2 year strike cannot be their best solution. They are just Aluta boys that refused to grow up now running things. What a shame
Education › Re: Nairaland Founder, Seun Osewa, Berates ASUU Over Lingering Strike by phineas: 9:19am On Jul 31, 2022
Seun is right on this one

No one knows what ASUU wants clearly.

Mine is if ASUU believes its fair to mortgage 2 year's in the lives of their students , they must be honourable and refuse their salaries for those 2 year's too. They cannot refuse to work and sabotage students lives for over a year at absolutely no cost to them.

Anything short of that and they are just a bunch of dishonest people, rogues who re no better then kidnappers. In this case kidnapping the future dreams of poor young Nigerians.
Education › Re: ASUU members, How Do You Cope Without Salary? by phineas: 10:13am On Jul 30, 2022
A strike that has been promised to last 2 year's is no longer a strike. Its something else.It means ASUU will not get its desired results through a strike but is prepared to sabotage young lives for its desired results

ASUU needs to look at alternative sources or ways to raise the funds it needs and push for That in a way that does not mortgage the life of those it exists to serve.( students)

ASUU and Dr strikes over the years in Nigeria has been pointless. What do their colleagues abroad do to raise funds?

1.increase the quality of education to attract foreign students and bill them appropriately

2.Apply for grants and get the overheads.Nigeria is filled with foreign universities running one project or the other to support Nigerian Goverment on various endeavours and collecting multimillion dollar grants to execute. Not one single Nigerian university in sight. Is is that the ones IN naija dont have brains?

3.ASUU asks for respect but treat its students like trash.Have you not heard that it is your c students that will give the school endowments? What happened to fund raisers and the search for endowments? It doesn't matter in Nigeria because Government must provide all the funds. Hope you all know that the bulk of IVY league funding is not from their fees but from endowments

4.In summary ASUU should find alternatives but seems to have no sense ,and they are evil for not having devised alternatives to the strike. They definately dont deserve to get paid for striking.

For the first time ever Nigerian votes will be split along 3 parties.this is good

For the first time ever the know trully stand a chance.this is good too.its like that scene in avenger where dr strange lifts his finger at iron man and says here's the one chance.

The South East should try not to screw it up by been divisive and insulting others. This is the time to meet leaders of other tribes and rally them together. Its a time to make promises and give assurances. You need the others to win.

Here's why they stand a chance. The Lagos votes at the last election where split 50/50 and a lot of Christians then voted Osibanjo.Imagine if they all voted someone else? And if this happened nationwide.

The youths did not vote.A large percentage of the voting demographics were not youths.Imagine of the youths voted?

The truth is APC downplayed the significance of its christian demographic audience. South western christian states will not listen to their leaders they will vote on what their conscience says is right.Ondo for example had always voted against those they perceived as tinunbu stooge.

South East alone does not have the numbers, they should call down and try to play this one right. They stand a very good chance at winning if they carry everyone along

Its time to help peter obi with his campaign. Here are my suggestions

1. His campaign team should drop the phrase obedient. It makes those who allign with him look like timid minions, how you all came about that phrase and non thought of this is the actual thing people fear about the south east.A suppressive system where other thoughts or persons opinion dont count.

2. What people fear is a also a return of power to brainless PDP touts with no decorum and other syncophatic elements who will pick self above National interest. Obis paramount task now is to win new allies with this tinunbu move, with allies come large number of votes.Obi must unite the south and middle belt. Its time to make deals and make it fast. Forget campaigns.Make deals with the power brokers to get the right people on his side.Decamping now to his team will be honoured by majority southerners and her people. Now is the time.
