We are given little information here, we don't have enough info to really speak much about this cases.

I have not seen his predeath FBC anywhere.Where was the FBC of a child the school told his parents was sick.Thats the most basic test anyone should have done.That would have shown Sylvester was very very sick .it would have shown his blood was very low,it would have alerted the Drs that all he was saying may have been hallucinations to be taken with a pinch of salt and strict prompt treatment started. Have you all seen sick people hallucinate before do you know all kinds of things they say ?Imagine 3 boys that were not even there standing murder trials based on hallucinations? Because the Drs that should have run basic tests and clarified this were negligent and stupid

If you have kids you will understand.Kids will be running around very fine absolutely ok.then they have a slight fever you rush them to the hospital and the FBC shows high infection that an adult with the same finding is on a bed crying I am about to die .uneducated folks will be giving them paracetamol hence the high childhood mortality in Nigeria.

If the school identified he was sick and sent home.If all medical findings showed he died from longstanding sickness which the autopsy picked.why on earth would you want to hold kids for his murder?

Perhaps they beat him right? Did the beating contribute to his death? Did you here the part were 3 out of those 5 boys were not even there.Could Sylvester have been hallucinating? (There was low blood to the brain) An expected symptom in this case? shouldn't we all try to search for the truth? Do you have kids?

I agree the family was negligent, but the school was also negligent. They should have taken Sylvester to a proper hospital when they saw his health deteriorating fast, instead of panicking and waiting for the parents to show up to pick the kid. If The parents were unavoidably unavailable, will they just watch the kid die. They were just too desperate to get rid of the kid, so he won't die in their custody.

They were not the one that carried out the "False" autopsy report. The autopsy in Warri was carried out by the Nigerian police. They were only given a copy of the report, which the released publicly.

If the school had taken him to the hospital instead of handing him over to his parents perhaps it may have helped .but listen to yourself did you just see that a key factor in his demise was their poor care.

Now it's the schools fault? If the school had done that and he did not make it would we not have blamed the school for using him for rituals? The school did the right thing They identified he was sick enough to need further care and rightfully handed him to his guardians.How they choose to respond is completely on them and not the school

Any public outry on this case should be for justice for DOWEN boys now.... Perhaps only medical people see it clearly

MDCN in her regulatory role is the best person's to step into this case cos it's clear to all the first pathologist that was a quack had a strong role to play in the wrong detention of juveniles for something as grevious as a murder charge. How did that even happen.Only a coroner's autopsy should have been allowed for the purpose of their detention but I guess Lagos was afraid of public opinion

The first thing any clinical student in gastric surgery in Nigeria knows this because Nigerians for some odd reason drink diverse corrosive substances in half hearted protest attempts or by accident.

Is burn the oesophagus in a chemical poisoning before it affects the tougher overprotected stomach.Many times and in most of the cases the oesophagus( food pipe )is severely affected but not the stomach. So imagine an autopsy that concludes the findings in the stomach is from swallowing without looking at the affect on the oesophagus?

His autopsy was also not recorded? Why? No pictures at the least? If there are he needs to explain himself clearly to a panel.This pathologist and the first Dr that saw this student where lax in their business very lax.

It had far reaching consequences. And the fact that those Drs are still clinging to self survival at the cost of the future of these little kids who always have to explain in future that they had been tried sometime in the past for a murder case is evil. Some of the kids were not even there on said day (3 out of 5)

DOWEN boys must be cleared of that allegation and the state and police pay for it's incompetence.Those Drs must be stripped of their certificates for a period of time they are both a hazard to society

And lastly anyone still dragging DOWEN and DOWEN boy for murder now is complicit.If you have kids fear God

The autopsy corroborated the schools version that he died of septicaemia and its other effects( caused by infection in the human body).It cannot be faked,the sepsis cannot happen after death.He died from a form of sickness that he did not recover from

The real question here is after his guardian picked up a sick child from school,what was done? how did they let him get full blown sepsis,to the extent his kidney was affected? (thats an effect from sepsis) The answers to that may lead to the real cause of the death of the young boy and whoever is truly culpable


But to try and pin( murder or manslaughter) on some boys in school with no evidence is bearing false witness,the best to be done may be to establish a case of bullying against those boys,and the evidence must be brought out. but bullying and murder are 2 different things.And if there was bullying was the school informed at any time? did anyone report the matter to any school authority? So why is the school been dragged here? for not identifying a child is been bullied perhaps? ok,did the parents identify it too,if the child did not speak to his parents on this,what are the chances he will speak to the school authorities?


Anyone speaking on this matter with kids, must all remember that you pray no one casts false witness on your children, definitely not something as grave as murder or manslaughter, so why sow that seed on other peoples children?

Lastly any good autopsy done is recorded,all the pictures and the process recorded and archived so anyone can go through again at any time and arrive at the same conclusion,in that the LASUTH autopsy has the records for anyone anywhere to reassess, did the first autopsy with one pathologist have that?. If it does it should be tendered, if not,which is likely to be accurate ( that is if the results are different)

I suggest the sylvester family if they truly have an axe to grind should revise their case against the Dowen boys to bullying and they must present their proof ,witnesses ,video of the young man saying he was bullied e.t.c .If they want to probe his death better they should also trace the illness and who failed to do what.

It is painful to loose a loved one ,not to talk of a child,I pray that family never experiences such again.May God comfort his family at this time.

The solution to all this is to re structure Nigeria for stronger regional leadership and a Federating unit with clear boundaries on Federal control on the regions.
