Stop worrying yourself about diets. Cut whatever you eat in half/quarters and spread it out such that you eat like 5 times a day.'
Have you noticed that most in-shape people eat all the time! They eat reasonable portions. It helps your metabolism big time. Here's why it pays to listen attentively during Biology class.
PoliticsRe: Federal Government Suspends Fuel Importation (Says LeadershipNigeria) by phuckNL: 11:13pm On Oct 31, 2009
There is no scarcity "Yet". People are just panicking because they expect the pump price of fuel to increase. I was on my way out with my folks and we noticed a queue at the filling station, we decided to "top up" our tank the avoid the unexpected. I bet everyone felt the same way, hence the long queues.

agathamari:
so now nigerians will be paying about the same price for gas as the us $2.90 a gallon is about N112
Correct me if i am wrong but we don't use the same Grade-type of fuel so your comparison is baseless.

PoliticsRe: Lagos Begins Stop And Search Tax Policy. Slams N0.62m Tax On Luxury Car by phuckNL: 6:51pm On Oct 23, 2009
I don't see why there is really so much noise about the tax. If LAGOS state deserves to be paid tax, people will pay it. LAGOS state does not deserve shit. They have not done anything to get any tax. Please let anyone not make noise about useless flowers that are being planted ooo. It is the govts responsibility to do this. How do you compensate Lagosians for all the tax that has been paid for over 45yrs without them seeing any benefits.

All of a sudden, you start planting flowers and everyone must take tax. Why don't you refund the taxes paid pre-fashola since they weren't used for anything tangible.

I see bad roads everyday in Lagos, there are numerous places without public water. Even when they have water, there are no meters to accurately determine usage. Lagos PWS reaps people off with fixed charges. Traffic is terrible. I dont know what you people see in this govt. All i see is noise and beautification. Of what use is it to me, a lagos resident, that Victoria Island, Lekki, and Marina are beautiful while the other areas (where 80% of lagosians live) are neglected.

Again you prove me right when I say you visited Nigeria last in the 60's. I bought mine when I began working but go to our Universities here in Nigeria and see students using their personal laptops for their research work. I visited Covenant University (Ota - Ogun State) and I was impressed. Please come down to Nigeria and pay a visit to that school and you will agree with me that the days Nigerians sing America wonders are over.

Ah! Ah!! Ah!!!, there u go again with the feeling that you have a stake in America. My dear obliterate that notion. Oh I can now see why u feel so comfortable in another man's land. If there are no true American's, why did they have to wait so long till 2008 before getting their first black president?
How many Nigerians can afford to go to Covenant University? shocked

I really admire your replies you have things in mind and i would love to board the same plane with you. when are you planning to leave naija, also would appreciate if we jist over the phone before then. You are also right my mum is filling for me would change my status some month after i get there. but guys i saw a lot of denials because of age and so many factors we treated on Nairaland so if you have anybody that wants to travel with a student visa should read all the post here and i think the person is 90% good for the embassy, the only 10% is for confidence to face the consular.
Phuck_NL holla at me on 08054026409, We really need to talk.
I really shouldn't put this out there but i will so you don't feel offended or that i'm trying to avoid you. I am a teenager and I am not too comfortable talking to someone i really don't know over the phone. Hope you understand. I will open a yahoo id so we can chat on messenger. I believe i will be more comfortable with that if that's cool by you. Maybe after we've chatted then i may give you a call.

gongo aso:
well as posited earlier by phuck, the US embassy usually gives a max of two years visa regardless of the length of your program.
I learned its a case of do me I do you. US nationals also get a max of two years visa to Nigeria at any one time.

wems
BTW, the length of a visa shouldn't be a cause of worry, it is only a window to enter and exit at any time t. it can be easily renewed too. Provided your I-20 is valid.

if anyone needs a screen for economy class and you don't mind the length of the flight, KLM is the way to go
if your pocket aint deep enough, qatar airlines is your bustop
cool

lol@ nethacker
goodjob so far.
The  length is not an issue. I pinned my choices to air france and lufthansa because i'd rather go on 2 six hour flights than a 12hr flight (delta). Too long!!!! I am hoping to use rebates/bonanza earned by my parents on either lufthansa/air france to reduce my costs. (yes i am cheap like that).

Qatar Airlines. shooooo. Isn't that a suicide mission. Its like a 7hr flight from lagos alone to doha. And i think doha is like 15hrs from the closest airport in the states.
Even Moses didn't do that kind of israelite journey.

Thanks, i really appreciate it and i just picked up my visa today at the Zenon building i wish the conditions of the embassy can be like that. I was really impressed.
But the amount of years on my passport was 2, i asked the young lady there and she said they dont give 5 years like that. you have to come back for renewal. How true is that ?
Simple answer = 2yrs
Obviously, you guys did not read through this entire forum. If you guys do, you won't have to ask questions that have been answered.
I believe either Gongo Aso or A-town clearly touch based on this issue. I can't go looking for the page number now but you can do that yourself. They usually issue you 2yrs. You don't need more than that unless you need to come back to nigeria before your studies ends. You can always renew it.

By the way, anyone of you guys flying air france or lufthansa? I need to make a choice pretty soon. All i am concerned with is if you have individual screens in economy class because i can not stand 6hrs of a boring flight.

@ Everyone.

Quit blaming the president. The focus should be on the Vice President, AG, Senate President and House Speaker. I believe there is a provision in the constitution that allows for the removal of a President if he his unfit to rule the country. An emergency session will be set, and they will vote him out.
We all this wont happen so we can all stop bickering. As long as the people i listed think he is fit to run the country, he will remain president unless he dies. Don't expect him to resign.

What a load of rubbish!
This dude must possess the brain of a 6 year old,
When i was young i had the memory of some good infrastructures and facilities that was the influence of the Colonial times but what happened to all of that few years later?
lack of maintenance and our negative attitude got us where we are.
If the whites are still in Nigeria today and leaves tomorrow, with our attitude and ways we would still be where we are right now in few years!
Until we change the way we think individually and as a Nation, there's nothing anyone can do to help us,be it Green,Yellow,Blue or white People!
We have all the ingredients needed to be a Great Nation and all we need to do is look inside ourselves and change, not thinking what others are doing or could do for us, W*$£K*$
No we won't. Things have changed. People are more enlightened. The Internet has changed this. Nigeria would probably not turn to the U.S but we would be a 100 times better if the whites gave us independence just now.

I agree that he should be considered innocent until proven guilty.

Yes there are too many false pastors.
Yes he has been arrested.

Nevertheless, being arrested is not an excuse for declaring someone guilty. Even the Messiah was arrested.

I am not one to support pastors, cus in reality I don't really find it comfortable and truthful to support pastors, however the little that i know of how easy it is to crucify an innocent person through the media makes me want to pause and take stock first, until he is actually found guilty in a court of law.

Let us remember that there are somethings that are legally overlooked in nigeria but which are not legal in the US, hence there are many ways that the man might actually be innocent.
Ignoramus. Do a search on Medicaid and electronic wheel chairs. Nigerians have been defrauding the system for years. The medicaid scam is not a one time scam. They bill medicaid for this electronic chairs and other paraphenalia gradually. The FBI must have been watching him. They usually give part of the money to the clients who receive no wheel chairs or are sometimes "dead". Yes Nigerians have been billing dead people and passing on the cost to the govt. In the USA I remember telling a white guy and his wife I was Eastern Nigerian and he said "You from Biafra?"

Back in Highschool when I was hanging out some Yoruba friends, we went to use internet in counselor's office and he asked us "Who is the Biafran among y'all?" My Yoruba friends all pointed fingers at me. Mind you I never discussed Biafra with them and was not into it until the 2000 Sharia debacle.

@The Amaka,
Give it up already. Nuzo has a very strong point.
You have no business criticizing Nigerians that choose to deny Nigeria. They are in most cases the "real nigerians" cos they hold only one passport.
You hold two passports and you are here talking rubbish. You didn't even live your life in naija and ur opening your mouth about not denying naija.
If you didn't have a blue passport, maybe ur reasoning would have been different. If you grew up in Ajegunle, i bet you would have a different perspective.
All the people saying they won't deny Nigeria are all lieing. Unless of course, like nuzo said, you have nothing to loose : meaning you are rich/spoilt rich kids who have nothing to loose.
I almost lost a scholarship because my academic integrity was called into question. They werent sure if i was as "brilliant" as my academics showed because they heard that a lot of "Orijo/cheating" goes on in Nigeria. If being a nigerian, will deny me of what i need, i will deny Nigeria on the spot without any remorse.

Mr man, not everyone can be a silver spoon kid - and u better read up on the definition of luxury
I repeat, it is a luxury item. You can do without a car in Nigeria.
If you can not afford a car, take the BRT.
Nigerians only want cars because every other person is getting a car.
Take Lagos for instance. Why would a sane person that does not have up to 1 million naira buy a car to use in Lagos. Half the time, you would be on OKADA's to meet up with your appointment. The traffic alone can make a fish speak pidgin. Do you know that most of these people don't have money to do regular maintenance of the said cheap/ricketty vehicle? They just want to buy the car to show off to their relatives.
If you can not afford something, don't buy it.
If you can't afford a good car, why waste money only for you to have to sell the rubbish car after 2yrs?
Food, Water, Shelter are the necessities. A car is not.

Car TalkRe: Five Weeks I Have Order My Car From Coutonu by phuckNL: 8:21pm On Oct 17, 2009
The problem with you people is plain ignorance and corruption.
You know that a 1994 model car is not legal in Nigeria yet you went to pay for someone to bring it in from cotonu. Don't start playing any naivetivity at all at all because i'm sure you knew they had to smuggle the car in.
Govt said minimum 8yrs yet people keep flouting the law. You are the same one that will say leaders are corrupt yet you are worse than them.
Why give yourself unnecessary headaches. Do you also know that you can not legally register this car in nigeria? You will have to bribe people.
Why do you think the Police always stops people that drive older model tokunbos nowadays? They know you smuggled it in and most likely have fake papers. If you can't afford to buy a regular 8yr old tokunbo, save your money and hit the freaking BRT

Brother,
Africans most be their Brothers keeper, help each other and look after each other in times of plenty and in times of less.
In Africa their are Wicked Africans, driven by envy and Jealousy commites crime against humanity.
In Nigeria their is a tribe call Yoruba, because of rosy achievement of Ghanaians living in their mist, then came the jealousy and hatred towards them by these tribe.
All their unemployment problem and their lack of competitiveness in business field, became a caused by Ghanaians.
Beating and rendering insults on Ghana people in the street of Lagos became order of the day.
when their jealousy towards Ghana people can no more be curtail, Yoruba leaders and politicians lead by one Mr Awolowo persuaded an Hausa/Fulani man called Shagari to deport our Fellow African Brothers.
This guy is probably the most retarded poster i have seen till date. I was born after the ghana must go issue happened but i definitely know what happened.
Yes Most Ghanians were chased out of the south. Did you ask yourself where most of them were located? Lagos right? Why - because lagos was and is the commercial nerve centre of Nigeria. Why would anyone be chased out of the east when you barely had Ghanians there. Most foreigners (Ghanians included) have their densiest populations in Lagos.
How many Ghanian shoe cobblers did you have in the east? Most of these guys were in Lagos so the issue to chase them out had nothing to do with Yorubas. It was a Nigerian decision

Very soon, we may have the same thing happening. Only this time it will be Benin,Niger, and MAli must go because the bulk of these nationals have taken over OKADA business on the Island. Yes, most of these Okada riders are not even from Nigeria anymore.
When that happens, you will claim it is the Yorubas again abi.
Trust me, if the Ghanaians were heavily populated in any other state, they would have received the same treatment
