there are other places in lagos you can stay and avoid these extra-costs. alagbado, ojodu, ajegunle and oshodi are nice places you can stay.
i dunno why you herbs want to stay in the nicest parts of lagos and you don't want to pay for the premium that comes with that.

This is what happens when people get visas to Lagos Extension and think they have gone to the west to study. Ol boy you just wasted your money going to JAND. You for just stay for Nigeria. If you want to see what tolling looks like check out the SAM HOUSTON TOLLWAY IN HOUSTON on Youtube. Nobody if forced to use that MAGNIFICENT PIECE OF ARCHITECTURE but people ply it daily. There are alternatives. Thats what you call tolling.

If you want to compare anything come to the UNITED STATES OF MURRRDAFUKN AMERICA and see how they toll. They don't force people to pay tolls except on roads in areas like the penny/New jersey turnpike where the road cuts from state to another.

iMAGINE IF THEY had built flyovers, completed the entire stretch of the road, maybe, just maybe people woulda bn more sympathetic. They simply DECORATED THE ROAD AND WANT TO COLLECT TOLL FOR THAT.

Don't be decided. There was nothing bad about the LEKKI AJAH expressway prior to LCC. The only problem was TRAFFIC due to overcongestion. Yes maybe some potholes here and there but the road was in an excellent condition when compared to other roads in Lagos.
So now for LCC to come and add one lane on either side of the road and start collecting tolls on the road is outrageous for three reasons. 1.) Why would they be collecting toll on an already existing road just because they added lanes to the side. They should have built their own road (coastal road) and tolled that one. 2.)LCC's selling point was that the "new" road will alleviate traffic, ,,,,total bullocks. There is and will still be traffic on that road because LCC failed to correct the ONE PROBLEM THHAT CAUSES TRAFFIC on that road "ROUNDABOUTS". They ought to have built "FLYOVERS" at all the roundabout locations. LCC claimed roundabouts would have been too expensive. Imagine, they want to collect tolls, but they don't want spend money. How would you feel if you start paying tolls on that road and the only difference from before is just a bunch of fences and flowers!! 3.) The toll fee is unnecessarilly high.
Lagos state govt better pay penalties to LCC and leave that road untolled if they don't want trouble

I wish there was a way ASUU could sort its issues out with the Government without going on strike. The Government on the other hand should be ashamed of itself. What kind of example is it setting by making agreements that it refuses to honor. See how easy it is for the government to throw money around for irrelevant projects, but when the time comes to invest in education, story begins. It is really sad that it things have degenerated to this point between ASUU and government.

By the way i always think it is funny when people say ASUU is all about their pockets, i hope people realize that lecturers dont get paid while they are on strike. In order words, go on strike for 6 months, and they dont get paid. Me thinks that if they were all about what goes into their pockets, they will not make such a sacrifice especially since they have families to take care of.

My advice to students is to use this time productively, go learn something, like another language or some sort of skill that will be useful in the future. Dont just sit at home, watch tv, go clubbing and waste time.

Where did you get that info from? I believe the main reason they refused to start work during OBJ's period was because he tried to initiate the no work no pay rule.

How can a govt put the blame on the Landlord. Start from inside, and then work outwards. How about they strenghten security in the state first rather than trying to put the blame on other people. Some Landlords may know what their tenants do and others may not. If you suspect your tenant is a robber, you can't just go accusing him/her. You also can not evict him/her based on suspicion (THANKS TO THE TENANCY LAW!!!!)

How can you open your mouth and state that it is possible that they company might be running short of money. They are not running a charity organisation and will be COLLECTING TOLL ON THAT ROAD FOR 30 YEARS so why should hardworking citizens have to pay toll for a PRVATE COMPANY to complete their work. How is Lagos state losing money? The people living in the lekki/ajah axis pay TAXES. They are the ones losing money and beign ripped off.
BTW, the Lagos state government is not paying no money for the road. If they are, well, please tell me what the responsibilty of the govt is if not to fix roads and stuff

How can you say that it is okay for them to toll the completed part. The agreement was to toll, the completed road and not just a section. What would be d justification for tolling then?
Lekki Epe expressway was perfectly okay before. I dont recall the road having any pothole problems. The selling point of this supposed tolled 3 lane road is the "alleviation of traffic". If all they would do is add one lane to the side and people still have to deal with traffic that has always crippled the road, then whats the point of the toll.
You expect people to be happy that LCC will use the toll money to finish the other parts of the road. This like someone earlier said is a crime and should be punishable by FIRING SQUAD.
Fashola is an idiot for this one. He suspended the toll simply because of the elections.

My dad regularly does 160km/h with his Toyota Sienna 1999 model. In Aug, 2011 we did about 170km/h with the van on Lagos-Ibadan express way, a Golf competed with us but later ended up in flame. We were actually in hurry.

Well, I am used to speed, my dad has been speeding with me in the car since I was young. Nigeria roads are bad, but let me tell u, I ve seen speed. Real ones man, real real real ffucking speed. Who says we can't speed despite tha bad roads? Stay long on Lagos - Ibadan Exp way, u will see.

Obituaries are posted everytime my friend. People have accidents on that road every 3hrs!!!!

U c our experiences in this country most time is personal. For instance, if u work in a place where u are provided with almost everything, in that case it becomes very difficult for u to know what others go tru.

Let me remind u of this very important fact, our so called leaders in Abuja, they don't buy fuel, they have lite 24/7, they dont price food items. They have everything to themselves. On that note, it becomes very difficult for them to create enabling environment that will favour Nigerians.

Now u as a PE at the moment u may not be buying fuel(Not insulting), company u work may be responsible for fueling your car, so u may not immediately feel the impact of this fuel issue. But if u are a business man, spending hundred of thousand on fuel/diesel alone, then u will better understand what am saying.

Am not arguing with u blindly, i was furious at u because u made mention that Nija should not be compared to other oil producing states, because of:
1. Govt function
2. Size of the country.
And i said no, that the above mentioned should not have negative effect in our country because we have enof resources to take care of the two and still enjoy life as Nigerians.

Phuck, never allow anybody 2 deceive u that we are where we are today because of govt function, because the govt function as the name implies suppose to be centered around Nigerians, but in this case its not.

Okay let me break it down AGAIN,
By government function, what i mean is that there is a SYSTEM in place. Whethere they abuse it or not is up to them. If there was not government in place, we would be like South SUDAN because nothing would work. Yes the government is corrupt, Yes the guys in govt are a bunch of bastards but we can not blindly say there is no government in place.
As corrupt as the nigeria police is, if you call them about a robbery, they will still answer- it might take 5 trillion years but they will.
We have everything set in place. Alll we need is implementation. We can not say we dont have a GOvt simply because those elected have not performed their duties.
I also mentioned the reason why the idiots in govt are able to do what they do. It is the people. YOU and I that allowed them. The nigerian people just complain and complain meanwhile everyone is tryin g toget into govt so they can also steal money. Most people complain because it is not trickling down to them not because they really want things to be right.

To the issue of comparison, what i meant is simple. Even if everything was okay in nigeria. i.e zero corruption, law and order, the price of petrol in Nigeria would still not be comparable to all those little nations because our demand is higher than theirs (population) and we would have more pressing issues to deal with than continue to waste money on subsidies.

Do you also know that those countries have agreed that their subsidies can no longer go on indefinitely?

Refinery business has never really been lucrative. Even in the US it wasn't lucrative bakc in the 80's. That was why Shell sold most of their refinining power to Valero who become a major refining power", Do you have any fact to back this assumption?Has Valero ever declared any loss? even in the wake of the recession, they were doing relatively well in the stock market.

With regards to the valero situation, i am stating pure facts. you can research on it if you want more info. I worked on a project that looked back at refineries in the US in the 80s this summer and thats how i know.

Do you also know that the current subsidy encourages people to buy petrol from nigeria and export to neighbourign countries where it is higher?

I watched a documentary once on the Discovery Channel (i think) about Voodoo in Haiti. They captured some pretty incredible footage of people walking on hot coals, handling deadly snakes, eating metal objects, some contorting their bodies in very deformed positions etc etc stuff like that. They concluded by saying none of the events could be verified. I was certain some of it was BS, others were a little more tricky to write off as trickery.

My point. I believe there are things that I do not know, and cannot explain. Such that even as I am a scientist myself, I try not to write off any possibilities - especially if I wasn't there myself.

Yes i do. I believe in God so i believe in the supernatural. I just find it hard to believe in a lot of nigerian "juju" since most of it has been "hearsay" so far.
My aunt and uncs, used to talk about people using "juju" to get visas and people dissappearing and i wondered why people would need visas if they had this strong "juju". why not dissappear and appear in "the land of the free" without getting a visa or using an airplane?

While growing up as a kid, it was a common sight on Lagos streets to see "malams" (as we used to call them then) use very sharp knives, cutlasses and swords on themselves without getting any cuts. All they got was a whistling sound resulting from the running of the weapons on their bodies.

Now, let me add another personal experience.

While I was preparing to get married, it was compulsory for my wife & I to attend pre-marital classes. After work on one of the designated days, I joined her. At the end of the class that night, I realized that one of the  side mirrors of my car that was parked within the church premises  had been stolen. I went straight to the catechist that was resiiding within the church to copmplain and I was unhappy the more when he showed me his car that was parked a few distance away from mine and narrated how he met it vandalized two nigjhts back within the same premises.

I was dejected not because of the stolen mirror, but because I had a type of juju in the car that was meant to render the car impossible for any mortal to steal. And I said to myself, this juju may have been fake afterall. I pondered on this for a very long time and I wondered if the mirror thieves  wouldnkt have succeeded if they had attempted stealing the entire car. This made me very worried and I made up my mind that I was goong to return the juju whenever I had the opportunity. We were attending this church every sunday after the marriage (just to please my wife as I don't believe in organized religion, though I believe in the existence of God).

Eight ( months after, whie @ the same church, a young boy whom I later found out worked @ the Church's bookshop walked up to me with the stolen mirror and handed it over to me (the mirror had my plate number inscvribed so I was sure it was really mine). When I asked how he came about the mirror, he said a fight  ensued between two young men over the custody of the mirror the very night it was stolen  and @ the end of the fight, they both agreed to hand over the mirror to him for onward delivery back to the owner. He said he has beenwatching out for me ever since until he finally saw me the day he handed oit over to me.

I simply thanked him, collected the mirror and went my way.

Well i think the juju ought to have prevented them from stealing it in the first place. They probably just wanted to return it in my own opinion.
What baffles me though is why juju has to be so secretive if it is real.

Ofcourse I agree with you. because it is not a recognised science or area of study, there is no metheodology to it. That leaves the field open to all manners of quaks and fraudsters. aslo , becuase our native doctors and shamans are uneducated, they do not even understand the nature of the powers that they dabble in, so tend to take the short cut by faking things thier already gullible clients.
I am a science man with great interests in quantum and astro physics, but i canot deny the things that i witnessed while i lived with my aunt who was a native doctor. i wish she was alive today, so that i can employ scientific methodology to understand what she did and how she did them.

Let me ask you this. Do you believe in those tales about people disappearing using juju?
