thebigkendo: After an overnight battery drain, found out my brake lights were permanently on
Only the wise ones can relate
Cc Gazzuzz Diportivo
Once the wise ones, spot this on the floormat, the culprit is clear, no need to run diagnosis. Funny enough, had this recently during this lockdown ish. With limited opening of car parts markets, I just stuck a small bolt there. All good. Will replace later.
I really do not see why DIY car painting cannot be done. I agree it is difficult. The problem will be going into this without, passion, research, proper tools and practice. Passion is important, painting is really not my thing, thus, even though I love and do a lot of car DIY, I can't see myself painting a car. It might be a good idea to take it small small; practice with a junk car or gate as already stated. Even when failure happens, an intelligent person learns a lot from it and becomes better in the process.
Question is...will it be your toy or will you service clients? Whichever the use case, I repeat, best investment you would ever make
It would you apart from the I have a scan tool crowd, that would mean you have gone professional
Thanks Boss. It's the autel maxi pro Mp808TS for now. Not J2534 just yet. I should commercialise in some limited fashion, but will not formally open shop for now. Already, I have a car in the family that the TPMS capability will help resolve an age-long evil tpms warning light...
adanny01: While most painters use an air compressor, I don't see anyone renting out. Except for furniture makers. If successful with a DIY Electric spray gun, I am sure by the time i rent 3 times, the cost of the spray gun will be covered. That is the most expensive tool to buy.
I will certainly watch these videos before I make my conclusion and will share progress if I embark on the project.
Unrelated, about to invest in my most expensive tool to date. My head is still struggling . Considering a bidirectional diagnostic tool...
Piyke: My own kazeemy stuff... I have never changed the washers on my oil or transmission drain plugs. None of them has leaked since this prolonged history of reuse...
So after years of this practice, I finally picked up a pack of oil drain plug washers. Got it just before the lockdown ish...
I need them used or new and must be affordable. I have no brand preference but something practicable that will last.
Who has an idea where or how to get.
The shipping charges scared me from AliExpress. and Jumia is a little bit more expensive.
At bold, is this option even still available with all the border closures? Just scared to use the Jumia shipped from abroad option. Most cargo are moved on passenger flights...
rationalmind: I had vibrations at red lights when I installed aftermarket mounts. Went online and found the following threads on acurazine. Followed the recommendations, changed my rear to OEM and vibrations were gone.
rationalmind: You should have gone OEM for the rear and aftermarket for the front. You most likely would not have experienced the vibrations at red lights.
This is wrong. The front mount is computer controlled and is the main one to keep OEM if you want to keep vibrations away.
So I have just done a video on how to catch those dubious part sellers who try to sell APPEARANCE front engine mounts for the 2003 - 2007 Accord in the name of OEM. Hope it helps someone.
Descorts: We started as friends. We were so close she could do anything for me and I could do anything for her.
She had a boyfriend who was a serial cheat and treated her like trash. It got to a point they broke up and he left. She was heartbroken.
I gave her my shoulders to lean on. I was there for her throughout those turbulent times and made sure she was never sad again.
She moved on. 2 months on we started dating. It was all fun and rosy. I'm not the type to fall deeply in love or should I say, women don't tickle my fantasy, I'd rather be with my goons than be with any girl.
But this girl came into my life and I don't know what she did to me to make me so in love with her. I loved her, she loved me. It was a heaven made match and a relationship anyone would wish for. On my birthday she got me a really expensive gift and I fell even more for her.
3 months on, her birthday was close and I was planning to make it special for her. Then I heard her ex came back in town, I wasn't troubled, "she loves me so much and she won't bat an eyelid for him anymore" I thought.
And then it happened. She left me for her ex who came back for her. I heard from a reliable source that before he came back, they'd been communicating online and the guy told her he's coming to take her back and he did take her from me.....
I am broken..... I shall rise again in no time, and when I rise... I AM GOING TO BE A HEARTLESS MONSTER. These hoes... non virgins or virgins, young or old, I shall toy with their emotions and break them....
GAME ON
Life is too short to spend it with such an ambition. A man's life is like a puff of smoke, only here for a while and gone the next. Pikin we say mama no go sleep, no go sleep too.
adanny01: I wrote an update but wasn't aware it didn't post before i went offline during the weekend.
My issue resurfaced after leaving the mechanic but the car moves well even though the lights flickered. The mechanic proposed to buy another and replace but since my favorite mechanic was 200km away, i risked it. I arrived safe and in the morning went to him.
He opened the the Park/neutral switch as shown in the picture shared by GAZZUZZ above. There was nothing strange as he had previously opened it during the last episode that gave rise to this thread. He sprayed the contacts with carb cleaner cleaning off all the grease. He then scratched the contact points with a flat screw driver and reapplied grease. He put back the screws and reinstalled. It worked like the new one the mechanic in Abj proposed. I appreciated him with N1,000 and he was very very grateful. It took about 20mins and could have been an easy DIY.
This is how it looks from the inside as shown below.
These are the symptoms of a transmission code related to the park/neutral switch or called transmission range switch in my case P0705;
- Car won't start, no sound or click when you turn the key - P, R, N, D, D3, 2, 1 won't light up or some will not show or may flicker when shifter is at their position - Key stays stuck in ignition switch and won't come to zero (0) position or come out at all. - Shift lever stuck in Park even though brake switch tends to click - may start only in neutral
Solution is either readjust switch, readjust shifter cable, clean corroded/dirty contacts and in worst case replacement of the switch.
I cleaned mine yesterday. Have a very occasional no-start in park position. Very infrequent. Will observe and see if it repeats...
May God deliver us from the hands of dubious spare parts sellers.
Sourcing for smaller parts abroad seems to be the way to go.
Meanwhile, please do you have an expert technician on car AC in Abuja? I need to stop my gas from leaking and have my AC up to mortuary standard (like some car dealers do say).
Kingreign (Kingreignn), can you help with reputable AC place. Don't know one to recommend.
Piyke: Actually forgot to state that I have an extra 12v 5amp pulse charger (same in the picture) for sale. Amazon mistakenly delivered 2 to me in separate shipments and decided to pay for the extra one.
